We are just trying to be financially responsible here and stretch our monies as far as we can. We all have our health issues to contend with, being a diabetic is difficult but so are many other situations. If you want to make a difference regarding medical supplies why don’t you call the owner of your local durable medical equipment company and insist he pay his employees and delivery drivers more money instead of taking another tropical vacation. Nobody cares if he makes a profit …drug companies make a profit…hello… Call Bayer and insist they donate some strips to uninsured diabetics! I purchase these meters as often as I can to make a profit, it’s called capitalism and it is what makes the world go ’round. I have zero guilt about taking care of my family in a financially responsible way. I donate meters to synergy house so that battered women who are displaced from their homes can continue to monitor their blood sugars if they are diabetic. I wouldn’t be able todo it without the deals. The government cannot take care of the overwhelming percentage of people who require it. I choose to take care of my family without becoming another taker. Your whining about us little people being resourceful is pathetic at best. And now I am even more determined to go and buy some glucometers and while I am there I will get some free cereal and milk with my RR. Your point is not valid to me, I am a nurse advanc ing my education with my own money working my tail off to pay tuition, books, and lab fees and I spend much of my time with my face in my books. If I choose to research a few deals and stretch my money to make ends meet or to feed my family then I can tell you this…I DESERVE IT IF I AM SMART ENOUGH TO FIGURE IT OUT!! I will never ever feel any guilt about it!!!!!

OOps!!!! I totally forgot to thank this incredible site for finding this great deal as it is not advertised in my WG’s ad. It is a great deal like this that will stock my baring shelves with more cereal and milk so that I can work less and study more. This is by far my most fave web site and the savings have kept my family and my education afloat….Many ManyMany thanks, I am truly grateful that I am able to study while you research the deals!!!!! And it;s FREE! Now that is a win….. win situation……..>>>

I tried this last night and my cashier would not adjust the coupon down to 14.99- she said it was coupon fraud??!?! What?! That’s the first I had ever heard of that- probably b/c she made it up! Very frustrating- is the walgreens coupon policy readily available- does anyone know? I am going to email corporate and see if that gets me anywhere.

    • Stacy

Just wanted to let you know to show the cashier the fine print on the coupon. It says it will reimburse up to $30 maximum retail value. That tells me that it’s okay to adjust it down to what you paid for it and Bayer will still reimburse Walgreens. Sorry you had that experience.

WOW! There is definitely some misplaced anger here. I have never been to a store that was out of something I wanted during a sale the first day and thought, “Wow, other shoppers are sure jerks, I would have really have like to be able to buy this product too.” No, I think, “Wow this store didn’t order nearly enough of this item.” And then I go elsewhere. To all the people who donate, good for you. Frankly, though, it shouldn’t matter what you do with your items. That is your business and don’t let these other people make you feel bad or guilty over it, wow! The couponing world isn’t a secret society and guess what, having diabetes, heart disease, arthritis or anything else will not preclude you from taking advantage of these same offers other people CHOOSE to. I would also get fish oil, even if I dont have heart disease, I would get flexamin if I don’t arthritis, zantac if I don’t have heartburn and theraflu even if I am not sick. I wont pay full price for anything and that is MY perogative. yes, I share my goodies but that is also MY choice. Instead of getting down on people finding a good deal, why dont you direct other people to this site so they can “find” them too.

    • Stacy

Not to mention Just For Men when I’m a woman and don’t have gray hair. =) Thank goodness my father-in-law took it all with him. Hope everyone has a Happy New Year and Happy Couponing and 2010!!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thank you, well put!

  5. Candy

I saw someone asking where to donate the meters. I have taken them to the local free clinic. They were happy to get them, Triaminic, Theraflu, neosporin, and lots of other items like that that I had a stockpile of. I’m not sure who wants a box of Just For Men haircolor, though.

  6. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I just called my walgreens and they say that they can only print one register rewards per trasaction. could it be possible that they just dont know whats going on? also, are people really fiding this to work? so you get 2 $5 RR and one $3 RR, or 6 rr depending on if you buy 2 or 3…is this right?

  7. RNHelloKitty

I just wanted to say that if anyone is taking advantage of this deal with the meters and DOES NOT need them, there are tons of organizations that will be so grateful for your donation should you choose to give your meters away. Nursing homes, senior housing, elementary schools, free clinics, etc can all benefit from these meters if you care to donate them. 🙂 Keep on saving!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thank you for the ideas!!!! That’s helpful! My stepdad is pre-diabetic, so I was going to save some for him, but would love to donate some too. I would imagine my stepdad would only need a couple. Then again, these are like the re-usable razors… there are always better deals on the razors than the blades. The manufacturers count on you using the refills, which are SO expensive!

  8. katie

Ours are not on sale. Bummer, my dad was just diagnosed with diabetes, and this would have been good for him. Good luck to all.

  9. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Did everyone notice the rebate on the glucose meter up to $55. so i am aassuming we will get the $15.

  10. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I am sooooooo confused!! I went to Walgreens with 2 coupons for the bayer. Then I went got 2 blue and 2 green of the meters. Went to check out and the cashier was completely confused when she had to adjust the price down. Then she read the fine print and said, “The coupon says ‘the contour OR the breeze 2′” So she refused to give me 4 stating that the coupon specifically stated that it was off 1 not 2. So I finally just gave up and let her use both of my coupons and bought 2. I figured oh well, I will still get $13 RR. Well………they didn’t print! I did get 1 $5 but where was my other $8!! ARG!! What happened? Problems in Wisconsin

  11. Maria

Gina, the coupons are upto $30 off of a purchase of the Contour or the Breeze2 meters. Your cashier should have keyed in the 14.99 price when the register prompted her. If you bought the Countour and the Breeze2 (and not two of each), then you should have gotten the $13 ($5 for buying the Contour, $5 for buying the Breez2, and $3 for buying both). Did the UPC’s on each of your monitors match the UPC’s that Hip posted? When I did mine, I made sure I had the right UPC’s and color of boxes. Sorry you had issues . . .

  12. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

    Maria,
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. I did buy 1 blue and 1 green. However, The blue one that I bought came with a free “A1C Now selfcheck”. I figured that I would buy that one instead because it came with that free. But when I just rechecked the UPC it ended in 961501 instead of 715101. I do not understand why this bayer product would not work for the RR because it is still a bayer product…… Oh well, it is going to a good cause! Also I have a funny to tell! When I went to check out the cashier (not my buddy) was like “I know that you can use the coupon on the green one, but I don’t know if you can use it on the blue one because it comes with this little one” (the A1C) So my mom explained to her that it was a b1g1. And that the smaller one was included at no extra cost and therefore the coupon should work. Now this completely confused the cashier! She said “Well, I am going to have to call my manager to make sure that I can do this. I mean you are going to walk out of here with these and pay nothing.” Well of course the manager came up and when she explained it to him, he looked at her like she was an idiot, and said “Of course you can!” But the cashier was NOT happy that we walked out with those and did not have to pay!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Gina, I think I read somewhere (iheartwags.com) probably that the blue meter that came with the free AC1 Now self check was not generating the RR. Sorry you had a hard time. Funny how some cashiers are. They just don’t want to get in trouble with their bosses. I understand that.

  13. April

I went today and used 2 coupons and bought one of each. The mgr then tore up my RR saying because i did not ‘pay’ for them they could not give me my RRs.
I called Wags Corp. They are supposed to contact me back.

    • Stacy

Wow!!! I would have been so ticked! I’m going to do these deals with the cashiers that like me. I’m just waiting on the coupons I ordered off ebay. Thankfully I got them before the prices skyrocketed. These coupons are going for so much on ebay right now. Hope corporate makes it worth your while!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Wow, that’s just wrong. Advertising a deal and refusing to honor it, is false advertising. I would have gotten the transaction reversed right away, then gotten my coupons back. Another Walgreen’s should be able to do it the right way, sometimes the employees are so confused about coupons …

  14. Tracie

My dad was opening the box to check out his new Bayer meter and “I” noticed that it had a REBATE upto $55. Yea!! Putting this towards my husbands eduction fund!!! We are still paying for his long-lived tuition fee…when will this ever be over?? Anyway…hope you all enjoy the New Year and I wish all our Sister and Brother couponers the best in your serarch for these GREAT DEALS!! May you share your wealth with those who are least fortunate. EVERYONE keep up the great work…YOU DESERVE THE MONEYMAKER DEALS and don’t let anyone else tell you different!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The rebate says they will not reimburse you for more than what you paid. Since you paid $0 and it’s on the receipt you would be sending in, there won’t be a rebate. I also looked at that…happy couponing!

  15. Lori

I believe that the reabte in the boxes say that it can not be combined with their coupon. I don’t think that it’ll work if you got it for free.

  16. April

I read on another site that a good place to donate meters is your local fire station (they need the meters for the paramedics). Please call first to make sure they want them though!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

April- great idea! thanks! (donating these to local fire station)

I just bought one of the Contour meters, some Bayer crystals and Alka Seltzer… did not get the $3 or $6 RR for eligible Bayer items. But I didn’t pay attention to the color of the box/ UPC code… I’ll have to check it later.

  17. Amiah

WOW!!! 11 Monitors…. $880.00, using my 11 coupons made them FREE, watching the RR print $13 (6) times… PRICELESS!!!!! I still have (4) coupons left and will use them when they restock the shelf, THANKS COLLIN!!!! This deal works, buy a green box and a blue box and get $13 RR. I feel like I won the lottery! I will donate all these to the fire station or the local homeless mission. ** My Wags manager said when I donate them to write “DONATION” on the outside of the box because people are trying to return them for $$. I didnt do that on my last HUGE monitor donation but I will this time. Taught a great coupon class today and this was my treat! YEAH 2010~ Look out electrasol !!! Wish i could post a pic on here 🙁

  18. Kara

I haven’t tried this yet but will sometime this month… BTW I bought some of these previously when they were on sale/FREE and I gave them to my dad, who is diabetic. He said that his monitor recently broke, and he called the company and they happily sent him a free replacement. These glucose monitor companies don’t really care about how you get the monitors, they just want you to keep using them because they you have to buy your strips. So I am going to donate them to a local nursing home. I would suggest if you can’t afford to buy one to call Bayer directly and ask for one. I am sure they will have no problem sending you one. 🙂

  19. Amiah

All of us couponers work diligently to find the best deals and and maintain our coupons by the hundreds, so when deals like this come along, it is rewarding to us, not only to get the product for free but to have the chance to give someone less fortunate something they are in need of. I have donated over $1500 since June in just toiletries and monitors. More and more people are ending up on the streets and have alot of “withouts”. The best things in life are…. say it with me “FREE” !!!!

  20. deann

I bought one blue last night and didn’t get my RR – argued with the manager for a while and then just gave up and left. I now realize that I should have just returned it and tried again later but can I try calling Walgreens? Or Catalina? Anyone?

  21. Jill

Maybe this has already been asked, but why do you need to use 2 of the $30 off coupns? Why not just one? Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

If you are buying the blue box and the green box together to get the extra $3 RR for buying (2) Bayer Products in one transaction, you must use 2 coupons…one for each box. They will adjust it down to the $14.99 for each one and the total due will be $0. I got 42 and there were still plenty left. Used my RR to buy many things we need such as school supplies, meds for the kids, snacks for school, printer paper, etc. It is very nice!

  22. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I also had the cashier refuse to adjust the price down. I emailed corporate but no answer yet 🙁

  23. Kit

Wow, I can’t believe someone is actually pitching a fit that a large amount of us want to get meters for free and donate them.

So what, just because we aren’t diabetic we aren’t allowed to buy diabetic medical equipment?

Give me a break. My husband buy pads and tampons for me all the time. Is he not allowed to buy them since he doesn’t menstruate?

This isn’t a 3rd World Country — diabetic supplies are not in danger of falling prey to a shortage. There are, however, people who experience a SEVERE shortage of money to be able to BUY their needed supplies and they DEPEND upon generous people like us to DONATE their needed supplies. Who are you to deny them the donations we would supply them?

  24. Walgreens Manager

Not to rain on your I am saving the world delusion, but donating meters doesn’t really help anyone. Meters are easily available for free or close to it all the time. Companies like Bayer subsidies free/cheap meters because they lock you into using the very expensive and profitable strips. Its the same thing that happens with cell phones and computer printers. It is a stretch to say your are hurting anyone, but one could argue that this “free” money that is coming from Bayer will have to be recouped on higher costs for the strips in the future. If you really wanted to help buy the meters and then use your RR to pay for matching strips to donate together.

  25. anon

Actually it helps you Mr. Walgreens manager, it brings business to your store in todays bad economy so for that sir your welcome

  26. Heather

haha funny…Walgreen’s managers are even jerks online.

  27. Mara

Did anyone notice that the coupon states “offer is for patients with Diabetes”?
Does anyone know if the monitors come with any strips in them?

  28. Shanna

My Wags did not have the blue meter as part of the $14.99 sale that Collin posted. My $10 cp was for the blue box pictured only. So I missed out on that great deal darn it. Oh well more great deals will come my way. 🙂

  29. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

And to Tracie… the others are correct. The rebate deal won’t work. I actually tried it previously on one of the meter deals- got a letter that they can’t rebate more than paid (which was $0 in my case). Makes sense- I just thought I’d try it and see what happened. LOL But now maybe we can save you a stamp!
