HA! I was wondering the same thing! And was so going to ask! Mine did too, and I thought, really? that’s odd… I understand the spam thing, but its said “your computer” Glad to know it wasn’t just me!

      • Jen says:

It just said the same thing to me – I’m assuming they just worded their message poorly, because I have certainly never heard of this company, let alone requested a sample before.

    • Elizabeth says:

Somethimes if they find out a blog refered us they will cancel the sample. They probably can’t afford all those free samples nowdays…

I received the following email: (20% off code)

As you may know, Dr Hess Udder Ointment and the Dr Hess Udder Stick
have recently received a barrage of fabulous media reviews and blog
recommendations, many of which have been posted on our website
http://www.udderointment.com. Because of the increased media attention,
however, we have exhausted our supply of available free samples and
will no longer be able to offer one to you.

In consideration, we would like to offer you a 20% off coupon
(instead of the 10% off you have already received) and extend the
deadline to February 28th, 2010. To receive your discount upon
ordering, please use the coupon code “thankyou20” at checkout.

Again, we apologize and hope that you will still consider Dr Hess
Products for all of your skin care needs. Also, look for new product
    updates coming soon!

    Sincerely,

    Polly Tribe, Owner

Also received the email saying they are out of samples.

  • Leah says:

I got the “ran out of samples” e-mail too. I wonder if anyone is actually going to get one?

  • Lynn says:

I just received an email stating they were overwelmed with requests. I will not be getting my sample. The give me a 20% off coupon code though.

    • Vicky says:

Tried for the Dr Hess free sample but they emailed that the samples were alllll gone :(
But they were giving a 20% off coupon for an order.

  • Amanda says:

DEAL IS DEAD! Only getting a coupon ;(

  • MamaBear says:

i got the same email… i wonder when they put up free samples on the site do they think only 100 or so people will respond? really…..

    • bfam says:

Same email received here. Why do they continue to take the requests when they know they only have a limited supply?

      • bfam says:

I responsed to the email they sent me and this is what they wrote back…

I am really very sorry. Yesterday about 10 websites (at least that we have been able to determine) advertised our free samples, unbeknownst to us, resulting in literally 20,000 requests. We ran out in about the first two hours. I tried to make the situation better with increasing the coupon, but I understand your frustration. I am very sorry and it was in no way intentional. I hope you can forgive us.

My beef is that now they have all of personal information and I have nothing in exchange for it. Really poor customer realtions in m view!!

        • Lindsey says:

You guys need to give this small company a break! All of the complaining over a tiny free sample of hand cream. The company didn’t ASK websites to post their link, but it happened, they ran out, and that’s the end of the story. You are upset because they have your information, that you chose to enter? What do you think they are going to do with it, honestly? It’s your address, not your credit card info. Sigh. Aren’t there more important things in life to worry about?

          • KP says:

Well put.. I really don’t undestand why people are all up in arms over this. All the samples are usually while supplies last. You didn’t score this one but so what?

On a side note, did anyone get the Aveeno tote bag offer? I got an email saying that they ran out before they got to my request. C’est la vie.

  • Savnformyzoo says:

it said i got a sample but about 6 hours later i got an email saying due to the hire media alert of our free sample we are no longer able to give out any more free samples, i did get a 20% off coupon code to use.

  • laurel says:

they ran out of samples. they will be sending a 20% coupon now.

  • christine says:

Yeah I got the same message they ran out and gave me a code for 20% off

  • Mo Keaton says:

The sample was gone, but for anyone who’s interested, you can use my 20% off coupon code. Thankyou20.

  • flicker says:

I signed up for this free sample last night and had an email today saying they had reached their quota, so no more free samples. Rats!
