talking about cooking. Does anyone has a good recipe for icing (cake frosting)? I am making a first birthday cake for my daughter. I need an easy recipe for icing that is not sweet. Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sorry I don’t know about a recipe for icing, but it is on sale for .99 cents at walgreens if you use the coupon from 11-15 GM for .50/1 it comes out to .50 cents. you can also print one out from smart source.

    • Ellaci

Megan, that’s a little difficult, an icing that is not sweet, but there is one thing I have used to frost cakes that is very simple, however it is sweet, but not as bad as regular frosting…..Cool Whip and I think they do have a sugar free recipe, plus nowadays, it comes in vanilla, strawberry, etc., flavors.

    • m4bigmacs

coolwhip is awesome and they make a sugar free plus it last for along time on the cake.
Also check out the buttercream icing recipe at http://www.allrecipe.com HTH This is the on I use all the time. It’s very easy and so much better than on a store bought cake. If you double the recipe you have plenty to decorate the cake and if you want to mAKE IT CHOCOLATE JUST add powder hersheys coca .
Another great idea to decorate your cake is if you have a photo of your daughter some bakeries I know my Bi-lo does this they can make an eddible copy of the photo you just peel it off and place on the cake it make for an addorable cake for only 5 bucks!

Ano: what kind of icing that is on sale at Walgreens? and what is 11-15 GM ?

    • Melissa

Betty Crocker icing is on sale for $0.99 with the walgreens coupon from the insert of last Sudays paper (or pick one up at the store). There was a coupon for $1/2 in the General Mills insert from 11/15. I belive there is also one on coupons.com right now, so you could get them for $0.49 each.
