Alright, so as most of you know, I was in Florida over the weekend and had a blast! My “Follow You Monday” giveaway winner was an awesome reader of mine named Sarah! She was a fantastic sport throughout the filming process (and it took hours and hours). Plus, she put up with me and that says a lot! 😉 Thanks, Sarah!

Today’s “Follow You Monday” two part video is mostly about Publix shopping. We also go to Super Target, but as you’ll see from the video, Publix takes up the majority of our time—which was fine with me! I’m in LOVE with Publix and I think you will be too after watching these videos!

New Update: If you’re looking for Publix match ups, then make sure to head on over to Southern Savers! She does an amazing job putting together the Publix deals and usually has a very extensive deal list available!

Enjoy!

Sarah with all her great buys from Publix:

I want to shout out one last HUGE thanks to Sarah! You are awesome! I wish I could fly to Florida on a daily basis to shop at Publix with ya! 😉

Where did you get the coupons for the travel sized (was it benedryl???) meds. I have looked and can’t seem to find those that don’t exclude travel size. Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

It was for Dayquil & Nyquil.. I have saw the coupons in past inserts & scored the same deal! 😀

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

guess i will just have to keep my eyes peeled! Thanks for the heads up!

  2. Sara Newton

Collin, thank you so much for what you do. I have learned so much from this episode and am working on figuring couponing out. I’ve been struggling with it for almost 2 years with couponing because I’ve been doing it on my own and you’ve helped me so much! I wish we had a Publix in Illinois too now!! Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you.

  3. Carolyn

I love to watch your site and all the things you do. I wish we had on here in Las Vegas but we don’t. You think we would have everything here but a lot of the stores on the east coast we don’t have. I really don’t care if we have the stores that you film at or not because I love to watch your clips. I learn so much from them. Thank you for all the hard work you do. I have learned so much from you.

  4. Pam B.

That was awesome shopping trip… wishing we had a Publix in Indy!

  5. Erin

I am soooo jealous! I have Hy-Vee where I live and they do not accept coupons over $2.50 and do not accept any coupons with “free” items (so no BOGO). They also don’t accept coupons that exceed the items price (so not only do I not get overage, they don’t even have to adjust down my coupons according to their policy).

I think Publix needs to come north!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  6. Amy

Wow! I am inspired! I have not been so on the ball w/my couponing, and even though I’ve been doing it for almost year (minus the last month or two that I’ve really slacked off) I always still feel like a beginner, and still feel like I’m doing something wrong or that they are judging me at the checkout. I’d love to be Sarah’s shopping buddy. I am about 20 minutes away from the Gunn Hwy store, but it would be worth the drive, it sounds like that store is much more coupon friendly than my local publix stores in the Tarpon/Holiday/NPR area are!

Sarah, do you have a website?? You did awesome, you need to start your own Publix blog…and also, a way for us to contact you if you are seriously looking for someone to shop with. I bet you would have lots of volunteers…I am definitely one of them!

Great job Sarah, and Collin, thanks for all you do, and for these videos. I’ve loved seeing them, wish I could have met you while you were in my area! Maybe next time! 🙂

  7. Jana

I loved these videos. I live in North Port, FL and I shop at Publix. I need to keep watching so that I can get deals like that.

  8. Anna

That is the best trip ever! Yay! I love love seeing the deals! Next time you should score some reusable shopping bags with that killer overage! 😉

  9. Alyssa

I WANT A PUBLIX!!!!!!!!!! Why aren’t Publix in Oregon yet?! I can just imagine all the money I would save!! I guess I’ll just have to wait 🙁

  10. Eva

Collin loved the video with you and Sarah today I don’t have a publix but my sister lives in florida and she has one . I am going to take my coupons with me next time I go now that I know their policy I so want a publix but I llive in Mississippi and don’t have one. Awesome shopping trip Sarah thanks for all the tips.

  11. Amy

I WISH WISH WISH we had a Publix…..awesome video. I’m motivated to coupon more! Thanks Collin & Sarah!

  12. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

We totally need this store in Iowa. i would have done the happy dance right there at the check out. thats was an awesome shopping day.

  13. Jennifer Koz

    You guys are a trip!

I’m a NAPLES, FL publix lover myself…and have been couponing for a couple of years.
I average 60-80% savings on my grocery bills! LOVE COUPONING and LOVE SOUTHERN SAVERS!
Is Sarah the publisher of SouthernSavers? I’m little confused!

I’m glad you gave such a great explanation of stacking mfg/store coupons. I feel like people don’t “get it”! Makes a big difference while couponing.

    Great job – great videos!

I live in Miami and Publix is awesome but if you live outside of FL, Publix is even better! Publix dominates Fl so it doesn’t have to double coupons :(, but I still do OK….not like Sarah though IMPRESSIVE!!!!

  15. Sunflower

I live in South Florida and love my Publix. Although I have noticed them to be “more thorough” while reviewing the coupons- they still are the nicest bunch around.

Question- does Tampa do the double coupon and penny thing?? That would help me understand how you saved SOOOOO much. I thought I was doing well… paid $42 and saved $77.

  16. Shannon

Love your blog and your “follow me mondays” crack me up. Did I hear your sister say “and Idaho” when you were saying we need a Publix in NC? I would love a Publix in Idaho. What great deals you scored. If your sister is from Idaho come visit and do a spot here.

  17. Tashera

LOL, you gals are just awesome. I LOVE Publix! I shop there all the time, Publix is the best.

  18. Sara

I really want a publix in Idaho! And you definitely need to come here too Collin! I heard the Idaho comment as well in the video! I bet in the Boise area you have 100’s if not a thousand dedicated couponers and readers that would love to meet you!

  19. lisa

got I would love to have a publix in N.C. come on collin get us one……….

    • lisa

I was so excited I can not even spell today.

  20. shebang

Hi collin, just wanna know if there’s any list of publix that would pushed the overage,I leave in west palm beach 4 hrs from tampa. There’s publix near me and they would not do it,also what are the competitors coupon they would accept? Thanks!

  21. Vicky

Fantastic video and DEals!!! Collin, just from watching your videos, reading your blog and following your example for the past several months, I can hardly bring myself to pay full price for anything anymore! And it’s so much Fun!

  22. Christina m

oh my goodness, that was amazing! I never really shopped at Publix before but oh man! im heading there..now!

  23. Sophie

OMG! That is my Publix!! I love that store!! Would have loved to meet you…next time you are in Tampa let me know. My husband works for Marriott and we can get you a great deal near the airport.
Sarah, I would love to shop w/ you sometime and get some tips!
    Great video and tips!!!
    Sophie

  24. Grace

My cousin and I do our shopping together. We were just discussing how much it helps to have a couponing buddy. Saves time, you can split big quantity stock up sales, you get more coupons-she print them and I print them-, lots of plusses to having a buddy!!

Does any one know where the Band Aid coupons came from?? I’ve been looking for them and can’t find them.

I too, buy items that are free or provide overage, and then donate them to all kinds of Christian Organizations. Lots of my items right now are going to Haiti. My cousin’s church in El Dorado, KS has a missionary down there.

  25. shannon

OMG! I want a Publix! You all did fantastic.

  26. lara

great video, with we had Publix in MN.
one question–how much time did it take you to assemble the coupons and shopping list?

  27. Tina

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos Collin. And thanks for introducing your sis. Does anyone else have the same problem I’m having, in that I can’t hear you when you are not close to the audio on the camera?

  28. Rachel

So impressed with your Publix purchases. I live in the Tampa Bay area and am a frequent Publix shopper, but have never saved as much as you girls. Tell me how Sara created her list. Did she only use SouthernSavers website, or does she have other resources? I’ve never managed to walk away paying less than $5 out of pocket. I’m very inspired to improve my couponing capabilities!!!!! Please share, Sara and Collin!

  29. Vicki H.

Congratulations, Sarah — that was great! Around here (Tulsa area) we don’t have very many coupon-friendly grocery stores. Food Pyramid will double coupons up to 50 cents, and Homeland, a store not near enough to me to make the trip worth it, will double up to a dollar, but only one like coupon per customer per day. Otherwise, we’re on our own! If anyone knows of better options in our area, please share! 🙂

  30. Violeta

I just watched your Publix shopping video and I was wondering how do you keep all this organized. Do you make a list of cupons you find on Cupons.com and store cupons to mach them and stake them? YOu must have a very good memmory. I am very impressed. I just started cuponing and I am teaming us with a couple of girl friends her in Colorado Springs. I love and hate it in the same time. Kee up the good work. Vio

  31. Phyllis Mills

Collin you are amazing! I want to go shopping with you.

  32. Amy

I love publix to. I just started shoping there in mid january. Yesterday I got 261.49 worth of groceries and paid 13.42. I allso earnd the 10.00 gift card on this trip to its like I paid 3.42 for 261.49 of stuff love it!! I keep track of my saving and so far this year I have saved 672.80 at publix! If you have a store near you go! I drive 30 min to the closest publix in Oeange beach Alabama. In April they are opening a new publix in Foley Alabama onley 10 min from me yea!!!

  33. Shannon

Amy, if you are driving 30 minutes to Orange Beach, you may want to try the Fairhope Publix. Apparently they are much more liberal with their coupon policy. I was at Frances from Frugal Fairhope’s coupon class a few weeks ago with a couple of ladies from Orange Beach, and they were saying that the Orange Beach Publix would not allow many of the things that Frances was saying we could use at Fairhope. I didn’t know they were opening one in Foley, but I’m sure excited that we are getting one in Daphne this summer! How do you get the $10 gift card?

  34. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

WOW!!!! You guys did awesome! I am sitting here watching this, excited for the deals that you got—but, at the same time depressed because we don’t have any stores around here that come even close to that. We don’t have stores that double, most are retarded about coupons and don’t understand them. I so wish that we had some good stores near by to be able to join in on the awesome coupon deals. Thanks so much for your site, I love looking at it everytime I get on the computer.

  35. YEA!

i NEED A SHOPPING BUDDY IN ATHENS, GA!

  36. Carrie

I live in the land of no doubles and hardly any coupon-friendly stores at all (Sacramento area, CA). Coupons are still amazing though. I have saved money on so many non-grocery items, but grocery savings are very few and far between. I mainly just buy food at Winco.

  37. Barbie

Collin!!! I just moved to Colorado six months ago from Jacksonville, FL and I MISS PUBLIX SOOO MUCH!!! I saved so much money there it’s unbelievable! I seriously wrote it on my pros/cons list when we were deciding to move as a big ‘ol CON that we would be leaving the land of Publix!!!!! BOOO HOOOOO!!!

Anyway, I wanted to point out as well that our Publix in Jacksonville took Walgreens Register Rewards as well, because they considered them a competitor! How awesome is THAT?!?

I would love for you to come visit my hometown and teach me how to coupon at these stores that I’m so not used to yet!

I loved your video! You’re awesome!!!

  38. tina

I would give anything if we had Publix. I never get out of Bi Lo or Wal-mart with out spending at least sixty dollars.

  39. Trixie

Hi Collin, I shop at Publix in Lutz Florida, but have never been able to save anywhere near the amount that Sarah and you saved, I would love to find out more on how to meet up with shopping buddies like Sarah. I am new to your website and couponing and have decided to shop at Citrus Park Publix from now on. Hope you can help me with a shopping bubbie, I love your webite and enjoy your Monday video’s very much. I just wish I had found out about your site a lot earlier. You are awesome

  40. BrandyK

Oh yes, Publix is the best! Ever since I stopped shopping at Super Wal-Mart and started doing 90% of my grocery shopping at Publix I’ve cut my grocery bill about 95%! (I spend less than $5 a week on groceries!) I love Publix!! (I even drive 55 miles one way to shop there once a week 😉 Totally worth it!)

  41. Niki

OMG. Love Publix. Ain’t no Publix in Southern CA.

  42. Nancy

I know some of these videos are a bit older, but I just wanted to say how much I have been enjoying watching them. They’re great. I loved watching the video from Publix (though I don’t have one in my area and I’m super jealous). The next time you mention the $80+ per hour, mention that it’s also not taxable income. This makes it a much bigger coo!!!

Seriously, for some of us, it makes more economical sense to be a stay at home mom because this is not taxable income. Yet the savings are as real as they would be if we held a full time job.

While I would LOVE to have a Publix my area, I am very fortunate to have a grocery store that allows you to work toward gas rewards. I’ve not bought a gallon of gas in years!!! Our grocery bill and our gas bill are all in one!!! I love it! If I were to work 40 hours a week, all I’d manage to do would be to get caught up in the rat race, as I did for WAYYYY too many years. I can’t make this kind of money from a job.
