Angela says:
Just FYI, in case you are not aware this is a Non-Clumping formula. I was not able to use this for my cat, it was such a mess. I figured I would try it since it was free or at least next to nothing and I’m glad that I didn’t really pay anything!
KellyJ says:
Oh yeah… Non Clumping litter is bad news.
Laura says:
Thanks for the advice Angela!
Sarah says:
Thanks for the warning! I’ve never tried non-clumping but I don’t understand how it works. How do you clean it? Just dump the whole thing? Wouldn’t be a bargain for me b/c I clean the litter pan at least once a day.
Angela says:
The thing is, it would work great for people that already dump the pan altogether. My grandma has 5 cats and so she obviously just dumps the pan altogether everyday, so this would be awesome for her! I might see if she would be interested, for that fact!
Andrea says:
Yeah, you’re supposed to just dump the whole pan so I would think you’d end up spending more in the long run. I’ll wait for a sale and use the dollar-off coupon on the clumping kind.
Jennifer says:
I like this litter because i do a daily dump of my litter boxes…My cats are super anal about a clean litter box so I dont really have a choice…..
Mary Beth says:
I love this litter, since I’m super sensitive to the background ammonia smell that the clumping litter puts out. Whenever I walk into a house where the homeowners use clumping litter, I can tell immediately. Thanks for the heads up!
jaime says:
I have three cats plus im constantly fostering cats for an organization. With this many cats you cant scoop…ya just gotta dump the whole thing. Plus scooping is gross!!! Id so much rather just get rid of all of it in one shot lol
Christy says:
Actually Clumping Litter is just as bad, many cats get the clay powder inside their vulva and they are finding more and more cats are getting urinary tract infections and bladder cancer from it. The best to use is the natural stuff such as Yesterdays news that is just sawdust inside pellets or shreded newspaper. I bought 5 of this deal just to have on hand for the driveway when one of our vehicles decides to leak some oil or worse when my rack and pin leaked!!
Heather says:
This litter is a hot mess! Just my .02! I would not recommend it – ;-(
Jennifer says:
I went to my favorite Target in IN and was told that they were no longer allowed to give overage. The $1 Tide coupons were reduced to $.99 (for the travel size) and the $2 Renu coupon was reduced to $1.57. The cashier said they had to sign a paper stating that they wouldn’t give overage and they had to adjust the coupon to the cost of the product. I’ve been through her line before and she’s always coupon friendly. Has anyone else noticed a change?
Brittany says:
The Target I visit here in WA has refused to even take coupons that are over the amount. They wouldn’t adjust them down. They’re a pain to deal with. I try to limit the number of coupons I use there. Less trouble elsewhere.
Beth says:
My favorite cashier at Target always used to push all my coupons through without a hitch. But yesterday she gave me such a hard time for trying to use the $1/1 Tide coupon for a $.97 product. I explained about adjusting the value of the coupon down, and she did that, but I was surprised at the trouble to begin with. I wonder if they’re cracking down on overage.
MommySpendsLess says:
I thought that it was always their coupon policy not to give overage?
I had such trouble the first couple times I tried to use a coupon for over the value of the product that I stopped trying a while ago. I wish they’d just adjust it down with no hassles…
I have noticed that some of the Target cashier don’t really understand coupons. If it beeps some of them start making up reasons. I saw it happen to the lady ahead of me when she tried to buy a 7th Generation product and it beeped. The coupon seemed fine but the cashier started telling her it had to be one of the items pictured on the coupon. I wish all stores that accept coupons would make the basics part of their training.
Lisa says:
off subject, but I went to lowes hardware in my area N.C. they had a table of Green works products marked down cheap I got cleaners, big bottles for 1.50 and also scrubbing bubbles toilet cleaner refills for 1.5o I bought everyone. So check for local lowes for clearence.
Felicia Thornhill says:
Went to my local Target last night and I used the 1.00 off Tide on the travel size and the cashier took 1.00 off all nine of my coupons but then said oh im doing this all wrong and had to go back and adjust down… It was weird cause the day before I had a different cashier and she gave me the overage so I dunno what is going on…
Lauren Johnson says:
Just a thought but the tag in the picture for this deal is actually for Purina cat something or other (Purina is food, not litter). The grey dot next to that tag means that whatever actually goes in that spot is out of stock (I used to work at Target), so the cat litter is actually in the wrong spot. I would be (pleasantly) surprised if cat litter was really that cheap.
Thanks for all the hard work you do!
Sarah says:
Tidy Cats is a Purina brand… pretty sure it says “Purina” above the “Tidy Cats” but you can’t see because that part of the bag isn’t visible. No idea what that means for the gray dot tho.
Andrea says:
I’ve seen the non-clumping kind that cheap on occasion so the tag is probably right.
Jodi says:
the cat litter is only $1.77 in my store.
bali says:
Thanks! We’ve always used non-clumping litter since the clumping kind is supposedly more unhealthy when inhaled or ingested (while they’re cleaning their feet). As long as you use the right scoop, you can get the litter box just as clean
Angela says:
Bali,
Would you care to explain more, what you mean by the right scoop. I would so by this stuff, because it’s better for the cats, if I could only get it to scoop and not have to waste it!
Angela says:
My husband, since he’s laid off, takes care of the cat pan so I forgot that we have one of those Roll Pans.
The Roll Pan is so awesome and in my opinion is one of the best investments we have made! The cat loves it too, he’s not anal, but he is glad that is pan stays cleaner more often and he’s glad that it’s easier on us to
I’m going to bet that a regular non-clumping litter would not work in these. I have bought some of that World’s Best Cat Litter, because it was FREE after Rebate
I’ll try that and see how I like it. As I said before, I would be all for getting something healthier!
bali says:
We got a fine grid scoop at the store that’ll pick up most of the wet granules; the cat goes in the same corner all the time, so when I scoop every 2 days I get most of it out (I guess both the cat and I aren’t particularly anal
Sarah says:
Tidy Cats is actually a Purina brand.
But yeah, I agree, non-clumping is not good things lol.
Definitely a fabulous deal though!
Carly says:
We use cat litter in the winter for car traction on our driveway. Just another idea for using cheap cat litter for those that don’t like the non clumping kind.
Here are other uses for litter as well.
http://www.xmission.com/~emailbox/otherlitter.htm
Denise says:
I dunno, I mix the less expensive non-clumping about 2 to 1 to the expensive clumping stuff. The clumping stuff helps the non-clump, clump all together. Does that make sense? Oh well, it works and saves me money.
Miranda says:
I do the same thing. Mix them and it works great for me.
Heather says:
I may have to go get some of this- we use inexpensive cat litter to soak up oil spills on the garage floor
Sabine says:
I do not understand the insistence on overage. If a store permits it, well then that is their business. But if they realize that they should not ask the manufacturer to reimburse them for more than the cost of the product, then that is their prerogative. It’s still a free item!! Free is free, right?
No, I wouldn’t drag home a product I didn’t like just because it’s free~and let’s face it, there are only so many places to “donate” the stuff. In the meantime, it has to be moved, stored, etc.
cjs says:
Just an FYI…I requested coupons before via e-mail on the Purina website, and they always send out two or three ‘$2/1 any Tidy Cats Litter – any size’ coupons along with a few others. I think they told me I could request them every 3 months, so I request them and wait for a good ‘free gift card’ sale at Target or sale at Petsmart/Petco. Also, if you have the ‘customer’ cards at Petsmart and/or Petco, they usually have $5/$25 coupons they send via e-mail (you can prob stack with manuf.). Hope this helps…sorry for the looooong post.
Maizie says:
I just found another $1 off coupon at http://www.tidycats.com/Coupon/LitterSave1/ register and it gives you a Bricks links. Sorry I forgot to save link for the Bricks, but hey 2 more coupons if you need litter.
bali says:
thanks so much for that one!
Amy says:
Just a thought….I use kitty liter to gain traction on icey walkways….woo hoo now no slips for 77 cents! for that price I will store it until winter!
peever says:
I always use non-clumping litter. My cats aren’t super fussy so I just dump all the litter every few days and fill it up again. I don’t see what the big deal is. I put a garbage bag over the litter box and just turn the whole thing inside out and throw it in the trash. Easy peasy.
Craig says:
Back in the day when I had a cat, thats all we had so it amazes me what the big deal is. LOL. Although the clumping kind has advantages, the huge disadvantage is all the dang dust it creates!!
Amy says:
Oh shoot, I just left Target and I knew I should have walked down the cat litter aisle. I did use the $2 off any size/flavor Whiskas from coupons.com on their $3.99 bags for some cheap cat food though. I’ll get the litter next time, I guess. My ottoman radar was going off and I left the pet section scored another $4.98 ottoman for graduation gifts to fill with goodies.
Sabine says:
Ha Ha on the ottoman. I have looked every single time I’ve been there and my Target must have the slowest markdowns in the free World!
Laura P. says:
I think mine does as well! They’re still @ $19.99!!!
Angela says:
Mine too!
Tara says:
doh! every time i get home from target there is another deal that i missed
Monica. says:
Will I DEFINITELY get the target coupon or is this YMMV? If I buy 2 in one transaction, will I just receive 1 catalina back or 2?
Kim T says:
I just came from Target an hour ago and they must have changed some coupon policy we don’t know about. I bought Windex outdoor all-in-one starter kit. I had a free $5.00 Target gift card coupon if I purchased this item, a $5.00 Manuf. coupon, and a $3.00 Target coupon from there website. They would not give me my gift card. The cashier told me I was not entitled to the gift because I used the $5.00 manuf. coupon. I explained I am allowed to use there coupon and a manuf. coupon. She said not now, and was very rude. Anyone else having this problem? I was wondering if I should e-mail corp.
Monica. says:
I’d email corp and go back for my giftcard.
Shannon says:
you can not use two target coupons on 1 item
isela says:
i was able to use all three they told me two are for the windex itself and the other was for the gift card.. dont give up
Esti Corcoran says:
I went tonight and bought the Tidy Cat litter for $1.77 and used my $1 off coupon, and no Catillina came out once I checked out. I spoke to the Assistant Manager and she said that she though the Catillina’s were regional and did not print like that everywhere, but she wasn’t for sure. And she hadn’t seen ANY Catillina’s print out except for the $.50 off Up and Up pain reliever one (which I got a while back as well at one of my check outs.) Is anyone else having issues with the $1 Catillina not printing when they bought their $1.77 liter? Thanks for all the great advice!!
Kara says:
I have had this. Not with cat litter, but when the J&J catalina’s should have printed when you bought 2 soap buddies. I bought 2 the first time, no luck. Went back a week or so late, bought a couple more, no luck.
I am beginning to think its regional. I picked up some at my mom’s Target in Huntsville,AL earlier this month that people just left.
Rebecca Hunt says:
I totally went tonight and did not get a catalina either!!! I dont even have a cat….I bought if for my in laws!!! Grrr….more money that could have gone to my diapers….oh well!!! Learned my lesson….dont buy anymore kitty litter with no catalinas!!! LOL I am not upset about it at all!!! =)
Alisha says:
I think you have to buy 2 to get the catalina. I purchased 3 in two transactions– the first transaction of 1 bag had no catalina come out. The second one with two bags had a catalina come out. Also, the catalina printed before the transaction was complete so I was able to point it out and my cashier was willing to let me use it right then. So, the first one was $.77 and bags 2 and 3 were $.27 each. I intend to mix it in with my good clumping litter. For that cheap, it’ll work just fine.
Rebecca Hunt says:
ohhhh…..thanks for the catalina info!! I didnt know that….but I also bought a bunch of diapers and there usually is a catalina for that but no such luck! I gotta go back today anyways!! I think I live there part time LOL…but thanks for the info!!

Toni says:
Hi,
I bought 2 tidy cat litters last night and did not get a catalina. I am in NJ, maybe it is a regional thing?
bali says:
bought two, no catalina (KS). Still a great deal!
isela says:
well today was intresting day at target. It seems that the target that I go to they would not take my coupons for things that i purchase on clearance well the first time I accepted it but today I just had it. So I called target corp and well that situation was taken care of and well I got my $1.00 back.. yay me
Amber S. says:
I’m going to buy a few and donate them to the humane society in my town (I found out that they are looking for non-clumping cat litter from their donation list online). It’s a win-win situation knowing that I’m getting a good deal and helping animals
