The Pace contest isn’t for a free item. It is for $4 off Pace. If it were for free, I couldn’t use it at the commissary, but since it was $4 off, I bought a huge container of Pace for $6 and paid only $2. In my mind, that was way better than a free container. I don’t know why, but the military commissary will not let you use a free coupon unless it is buy one, get one. It seems crazy to me, but it is their rule.

Keep in mind tax consequences in mind regarding winning sweepstakes. If you win a prize over $600, you’ll receive a 1099 from the company giving the prize for the value of the prize, which you’ll have to report on taxes. Since they don’t take taxes out of the prize winnings, you’ll have to pay them at tax time.
