I was just wondering at what price you ladies stock up on kids clothes for the next year? I like Gymboree and Childrens place etc…so do you buy at 50% off or only if it’s like 75% off etc. I find it much more affordable to buy name brand clothes at the end of the season, but I’m never really sure what’s worth the early expense. Ideas?

I do not buy gymboree clothes at end of season very often…they are usually more expensive than during their main sales. The day after thanksgiving is the most amazing gymboree sale. I get winter coats for 12 or 14 dollars, and all of their knit and fleece outfits are usually about 6.40. I always make sure to have a 20% to use with this sale. I also purchase my 6 year olds wardrobe 1 year in advance for the next winter, during this sale. If your child is average size, and average growth, you should be able to do this easily. During the rest of the year I am only willing to buy gymbo at about 50% off plus a 20% coupon. Recently they had 7.99 on knit shorts, shirts and tanks, and with 20% off that was a great great sale. I try to stock up during gymbucks and gymbucks redemption. You can use a 20% while earning gymbucks, but not while redeeming. I’ve been a gymbo mom for 12 years and I love it. Childrens place always has great deals. This last week, I purchased 18 shirts and pull on skorts for about 100 dollars. great price in my opinion. If your area has a childrens place outlet, you can score even greater deals.

I always buy a year ahead of time for all four of my boys. My favorite place to shop is Children’s Place. They have two huge sales a year- one in mid-late January and one in mid-late July. They have an additional 50% off clearance, plus there is usually a 15% off coupon out (or 15% off birthday club coupon), plus you can get another 10% off when using your Children’s Place card. The thing I love about their credit card is that you can pay it off immediately– so right after I make a purchase, I can turn around and write a check to pay off the balance. Anyway, I usually spend around $100 per kid per wardrobe, including winter coats, 7+ pairs of pants/shorts, 10-15 shirts, several sweatshirts/sweaters, swimming trunks, etc. I’ll usually supplement whatever else I need with clearance deals I find at Macy’s or Old Navy (their 50% off clearance deal this winter was GREAT!) I do not like to pay more than $15 for winter coats- under $10 is what I aim for, $3-$4 for shorts, $5-$7 for jeans, and I like to spend $1-$2 on shirts. Usually, I am able to do this at the end of the season sales.

Thanks for the tips! Gymboree is having a 30% off everything sale which makes those 7.99 shorts and t’s you were mentioning 5.60 – and I have a 15% off coupon – plus it’s a gymbucks earning period. I was wanting to see if this was a pretty good bargain and it seems like it is – but this year it sounds like I can’t miss the day after thanksgiving sale!

Where did you get your 15% off coupon?

          • CINDI

It’s a multiple use online code.11A9MBSQH180889 – I think this expires next week sometime. I always shop online cause the $5 (Any size order) is way worth saving the headache and gas of going to the store!
