That’s it girl – turn your tortillas into lemons!!!!! Ignore haters (why are they on here if they hate it so much? Ever think of that?)!

    • Megan M

Haha, love it! “Turn your tortillas into lemons.” Totally my new motto for today!

  4. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I love Mission tortillas too! Thanks.

  5. Stephen

    You GO Collin!!!!!

  6. Jennifer

Are tortillas the new lemons? I hope on April Fool’s Day next year, your site is plastered with them! Hope you’re having a better day today! Love the site!

  7. Karen

I have no idea what people are talking about ^^^^^^^^^^^^?

I am just posting to thank you for this post! Very timely I am off to the stores today 🙂

    • MommySpendsLess

A day or two ago there was a big debate in the comments of the tortilla post about whether it was right for Collin to have a sponsored post. A while back there was some fuss about whether it was alright to order water with lemon(s) when dining out instead of spending money on soft drinks. Considering how silly the topics were, the debates became kind of heated so tortillas and lemons have become inside jokes for the long time readers. Collin even changed her site’s theme to lemons for April Fool’s Day.

  8. Gisel

Love the way you turned that around. hehheeeee. You made my day!!

  9. Kristie

Great job! We know you love your tortillas! Wink, wink.

Target has them on sale this week don’t they? Thanks Collin!

  13. DL

Such drama over tortillas! Some people need to grow up and move on!

    • chris

While I don’t have anything against Colin or this wonderful site, I do have a problem with a company that uses corn infused with genes from the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis and possibly animal genes like fish or sheep. They also use hydrogenated oils which takes another of God’s creations, the natural oil from plants, and changes it’s chemical makeup. 75% of the products in a typical grocery store are genetically modified non-foods. Infusing God’s plants with animal DNA or other plant DNA plus viruses and bacterium is wrong. Mission tortillas are part of the problem so yes, there needs to be drama over tortillas.

      • dpokorney

Oh my God. What is wrong with you?

        • Lindsey Helms

          hahahaha…

      • pam

It is a tortilla sweetheart. A tortilla.

While they might not be the healthiest food available, I’d wager that of all the things in this world that the Good Lord is displeased with, tortillas are very low on the list. Probably not as bad as all the murder and rape and war. Please relax.

        • Megan M

Except for that tortilla in a musuem with the Virgin Mary’s image on it. Pretty sure he’s please with that one.

      • bob

Are you kidding me? Shut up and go chomp on an organic carrot.

        • Katie

          Hahahaha, loooooove this.

      • Suzanne

THEN DO NOT PRINT THE COUPON OR BUY THEM!!!!

      • ashley leveto

There are a lot worse things in the world than tortillas!!!
        Find another blog!!!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Can you believe this???? How is it that these tortillas keep causing such a STINK!?

      • Charlotte

Ok, although I do not believe in a higher being of any sort, Chris has a very valid point. People should become more educated about the food they eat. GM corn and soy is bad for the bio-diversity of our planet as well as the growers of these products. And hydrogenated oils are indeed just bad for your health. It’s proven. (Go watch Food inc. and The world according to Monsanto to get an idea of how bad it is.)

HOWEVER, I do not think Hip2Save is the blog/forum to discuss this. Colin provides us with information about coupons and good deals. It is not her job to determine what is “good or bad” for us. We make those choices all on our own.

        • dpokorney

You are absolutely right! This battle is severely misplaced. I don’t disagree that the foods that we consume contain unhealthy chemicals, but it seems to be a contradiction to complain about tortillas as we sit on our computers and print coupons onto paper. It was the use of “God’s Creations” that is hypocritical when the mere manufacturing of the computers and components we are using to argue about it cause a negative impact on the environment. Despite a factory’s best efforts, making products will inevitably give off pollutants into our air, water, and soil. How this has anything to do with all of Collin’s hard work—no idea. Why I chose today to read the blog and respond? I guess it just rubs me the wrong way when people use a deity as a scapegoat for their personal issues.

      • Jennifer

That’s why I’ve started to only buy heroin infused tortillas.

        • dpokorney

That’s hilarious! Did you have a coupon?

        • Amanda

i prefer the baby infused ones 😉

      • brenda

wow, if 75% of the products in the grocery stores have genetically modified foods and you are focusing on this one item on Collin’s website, you must be a busy person posting your crazyness all over people’s blogs every time someone posts a coupon for a product that doesn’t comply with your purist views! What a waste of your energy! All she’s trying to do is help people save money!!! I highly doubt she has the clout with Mission Tortillas to make them change their formula so why don’t you go post to the people that care or have anything to even do with their chemical make-up.

        • ehayes

ok new movie idea, THE KILLER TORTILLAS!!!!!!

        • chris

I actually don’t post all over the internet, I don’t have the time. I wish I did. You may all call me crazy because I used the word “God” but this issue has nothing to do with religion. Laugh all you want but what I’m saying is true. GM non-foods have been replacing natural, unadulterated food over the last 5-10 years and the majority of people (as witnessed here) know nothing about it. It is an important issue because not only is it unhealthy but it destroys the soil and pollutes other non-GMO crops. 90% of soybeans are genetically modified and soy is in EVERYTHING. I’m not a raving lunatic. Google Monsanto or GMO foods. If you really want to know how disastrous GMO foods are to our longevity as a human race, google Svalbard “doomsday” seed vault. Rockefellers, Bill Gates and Monsanto collecting all of the unadulterated “heritage” seeds and storing them in a vault built into an arctic mountain. Sounds like a great 2012 movie? Well it’s an real project, started shortly after GMO foods began appearing our supermarkets. Instead of mocking me and telling me to go eat a carrot why don’t you google what you are feeding your children. Mine are eating organic. I have my own personal stores of heritage seeds. Call me crazy but I will err on the side of not messing with the natural order of things (or God’s creations, however you look at it)
          – and since this is a site that deals with many issues, not just couponing and deals I felt it appropriate to mention this issue in case there are those who want to know what is being done to their food. As was said earlier, if not, you can ignore my post. I will also reiterate that this post is not a personal attack on Colin or this site. I was simply trying to inform and also lament the lack of coupons for healthy, non GMO, non hydrogenated and organic foods.

          • moopfather

Ignorant people deserve what they get, cross your fingers that one day they will cease to exist.

  14. jen

    LOL! Perfect timing 🙂

  15. Shauna

    Love it!

  16. Ana Maria S.

Thanks! I love that this coupon can be doubled! Harris Teeter here I come! 🙂

  17. laura

Thank you for the coupon Collin. But I still think the previous post was the best with all the ideas on how other people use tortillas. After all, what good is a coupon for cheap tortillas if they just sit in your fridge. I have thrown many a tortillas away . . . . . . . . but not now! I feel enlightened with many ideas! Thank you!

    • Theresa

if the tortillas get to old don’t just toss them in the trash. The birds love them.

sorry I missed the coupon. no more prints left.

  18. Lindsey Helms

Aw man!! I paid almost $3 for Misson Tortillas yesterday! After that whole fiasco, I was going to buy them, no matter the cost!!! (this coupon would have been good… oh well MORE TORTILLAS!!!)

    • fran

Lindsey, why don’t you see if your store will still take the coupon. My stores in N.J.will honor the coupon after the purchase, within a reasonable time. Give a try, you have nothing to lose 🙂 My theory is, if you don’t ask, you don’t get!

  19. Gloria

DH likes their “carb balance” tortillas and they are pricey so thank you for letting me know about the coupons available!

  20. Heather C

Bring on some quesadillas! I swear this has been my food of choice since my DH has been gone.

  21. jenna P

thank you Collin, is there any chance of getting coupons for mission tortilla chips. OMG they are the best. thanks again and remember, some people in this world have nothing better to do than to put others down because of their own insecurities. Keep up the good work.

  22. CatherineB

I have to thank you for all the time and effort you put into this blog, which in turn makes our lives easier! Go tortillas!!

  23. Katrina

Says I already printed the max allowed – funny since I’ve never printed a tortilla coupon. 🙁

    • Jenr

It told me the same thing

    • Shannon

It said the same thing for me.

    • Sara

      Yeah, me too. 🙁

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

        Not printing for me either…

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

          me either…

    • MJS

Same problem here and I have tried from several different links and they all say the same – I have printed my quota. But I haven’t!!

Do you know if you can freeze tortillas?

      Thanks

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

No, No, don’t throw away….freeze them. They keep really well in the freezer. Or do like my 2 and 3 year year old did, make a frisbee out of them (yeah, I wasn’t too happy with that game!).

  24. Bridget

I had the same problem as the last couple of posters.

  25. marcia

I think pre-made tortillas are very convenient, but if you missed the coupon or are worried about what’s in your tortilla or run out and don’t want to go to the store, it’s really easy to make them from scratch and very yummy! We roll out the dough and freeze it between plastic wrap in a freezer bag. Then you just pull them out and throw them on the griddle, no grease. Great addition to freezer meal cooking. I use whole wheat flour and oil instead of lard.

    Homemade flour tortillas
    Ingredients:
    4 cups all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    2 tablespoons lard*
    1 1/2 cups water

    Directions:
    1. Whisk the flour, salt, and baking powder together in a mixing bowl. Mix in the lard with your fingers until the flour resembles cornmeal. Add the water and mix until the dough comes together; place on a lightly floured surface and knead a few minutes until smooth and elastic. Divide the dough into 24 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
    2. Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Use a well-floured rolling pin to roll a dough ball into a thin, round tortilla. Place into the hot skillet, and cook until bubbly and golden; flip and continue cooking until golden on the other side. Place the cooked tortilla in a tortilla warmer; continue rolling and cooking the remaining dough.

*substitutes: margarine, butter, veg. oil or shortening

    • Amy

thank you so much for this recipe! 🙂 I’ll have to try that sometime this week… I missed the prints on this coupon, and the $1/1 coupon that was supposed to be in the 8-1 SS wasn’t in my paper. And of course I’m not going to pay full price *gasp* for tortillas! 😉

  26. Amanda Tallent
