Just be careful with the color catchers–while they work GREAT, they do get caught in front loading washing machines. I have already had a service call to eliminate one that was causing an obstruction and my washer couldn’t drain. My advice–put it in a garment bag and you will get great results!!!

If you read the box it tells you to use a lingerie (mesh/zippered) bag for the sheets in front loaders. I use them pretty often and have yet to have a problem.

You throw them in the wash when you worry clothes might bleed. Great for new clothing (I use one every time I wash a new season of clothes for my daughter), dark wash jeans, and I also use them when washing new fabric. They attract the dye that might bleed onto other items in the wash.

Here’s a tip I accidentally came across when washing a pair of jeans that bleed awfully! I had left a bounty paper towel in the pocket and when I washed them the paper towel was blue, nothing else. Now I throw in a bounty whenever I worry about bleeding and it has worked so far! And it doesn’t shred into an awful mess!!!!

Years ago when they first came out with these, I washed my babies onesies with her darks. I threw in a Shout Color Catcher and it did not work. Many of my baby’s white clothes were dingy and grey. I called the company in frustration. They had me send pics and an itemized list of clothes and the value. I can’t remember the amount they sent back, but I’m pretty sure it was around $100. But hopefully they’ve adjusted their formula since then because it sounds like many people have had a positive experience. I’ve just been too chicken to try again.

My granny always said never wash whites with darks no matter what! I’ve used the color catchers before, but just for dark clothes. I like that they keep jeans and shirts from fading.

Wouldn’t they be fading anyway, since the ink/dye is fading off onto the color catcher?
