101 Hip Readers Commented

  • Liz says:

On the snickers bars, buy one get one free, how is it 9 cents? It would be 49 cents for two.

    • Michelle Luhdorff says:

With the in ad coupon it makes them $0.98 for the 2, however the computer will deduct the original price of $0.89 (for the BOGO coupon) so you pay $.09 for 2! Hope that helps!!!

    • Chachu says:

It will take off the full $0.89 cents for the BOGOF, then the $0.40 comes off of both bars from the in-ad coupon, so it would be $1.69 total discount.

  • Collin says:

    Hi Liz,
The snickers are regularly priced at $0.89, so when you purchase 2 and use the buy one get one FREE coupon first it will deduct $0.89, then you can use the in ad coupon AFTER the manufacturer’s coupons to make each bar $0.49 (so it will deduct $0.80 total for 2 bars). Your final cost will be $0.09 for 2 bars. I hope that makes sense! :)

    • Katie says:

unfortantly that doesn’t work anymore for my wags…they insist on having all walgreens q’s given to them first. :(

    • momwhocare says:

I love snickers and definatly will try this – But I can predict many people having problems getting the cashier to do this – even myself. It almost seems like cheating the system. I can see the cashier making us use the bogo after the store coupon on this one. But, I am still going to try it…. no sense of assuming that I can’t get this great deal!

      • Samantha says:

The Walgreens coupon will deduct .80 either way and the store will get reiumbursed for the coupon whether it takes off .49 or .89 so I think it is completely acceptable to use the MQ first!

  • Liz says:

My walgreens uses the in ad coupons first, before manufacturers. I can’t get them to do otherwise.

  • Rhonda says:

Collin…I have ‘moments’ with our Walgreen. Yesterday I trudged in and was met practically at the door by a cashier telling me ‘you were right.’ (lol) Some of them had to go to the City for a big policy meeting and bring everybody up to speed on things including coupons. She agreed the new policy was in our favor but said too we actually can use FOUR coupons at once. ??? She was still learning and could not elaborate but FOUR??? How so?

    • Dianne says:

Rhonda, I might be able to answer your question about four coupons at once. I did this a few months ago in Cottage Grove Oregon and was accused of coupon fraud.
      I used:
(#1) a 15% off friends and family coupon
      (#2) a Visine MQ
(#3) a Visine in ad coupon that took off a specific amount
(#4) a Visine coupon in the monthly coupon booklet in store
I told the senior beauty consultant to call the police, she wouldn’t of course. But I did use 4 coupons and she would not let the transaction finish. She told me that I couldn’t have Visine pay for my other items. We do that all the time with RR’s. Colgate RR pays for John Frieda shampoo, which pays for Halls, etc., etc. And now Walgreen’s is saying we can use 4…how halarious. If they wouldn’t bring all of the coupons out at the same time, these situations wouldn’t happen. It is not our fault that we are intelligent enough to put them together for the best deal.

      • Rhonda says:

Gotcha…THANKS DIANNE! Makes perfect sense. I’m back on track!! =) And no kidding…THEY put out all of these sales, promos and coupons. We don’t make them. lol My gal at WG said they were going to stop the MFG & WG Q’s together and the MFG said nope! We want our q’s out there and will honor them. SO WG wasn’t in our corner it sounds like for the behind the door meeting.

It is awesome to see the power we wield out there, Walgreens had to listen to us, their cutomers. I am very happy to be able to go in and not fight about my coupons anymore!
    thanks for your leadership!

  • Lorine Edwards says:

    many good deals this week

  • Jodi says:

I’ve been finding .75 tearpads at the entranceway of Riteaid and CVS. They are on large poster signs. Easier than the $1/2 q, since only one RR will print per transaction.

  • Emily says:

I have an amazing walgreens find!! I got the the glade scented oil candle holders for .98 cents each, and with the coupon from the walgreens october coupon book, 2 off 2 of them it was free :)

  • Lisa M. says:

I just looked at the 10/10 coupon insert preview and I don’t see where it says there will be a 0.35 off of Comet coupon.. Are you sure it will be in tomorrow’s paper or was it maybe from a previous insert? I sure hope it is in tomorrow’s inserts, I use alot of Comet and that is a sweet deal!!

    • Rose says:

i don’t think thats the right coupon matchup. Its been a very long time since I’ve seen a coupon for Comet Abrasive. The coupon that comes out in the insert is for the Soft Cleanser and that’s not 2/$1.

  • Carrie Childers says:

Can ANYONE tell me how to redeem the groupon for the weekly cinema tickets? I know this has nothing to do with this post but I need help to take 3 kids to the movies today!! Thank you!!

    • Joanna says:

No luck for today, the deal ends tomorrow, so you don’t get to get your code until the deal “closes” then it will charge your card and then the code.

  • John says:

So the Snickers deal will only work if we had the coupons to the cashier in a certain order? I don’t wanna do that, too frustrating.

    • Collin says:

Yes, John. You’ll have to hand over the manufacturer’s coupons first and then the Walgreens store coupons. I usually have quite a few items I’m purchasing at checkout, so once the cashier is done scanning all the items I hand her the manufacturer coupons first and then I take out the Walgreens store coupons. The cashiers in my area do not seem to have a problem with this… but I guess it just depends.

    • L. H says:

I always make sure to cut my store coupons or I will forget to use them…shopping with two little boys will do that…but you just put all manufactured coupons on top and all store coupons on the bottom. I have never had a problem, all the coupons get scanned. Just look at it this way, rich people make money because they know how to work the system and find the loop holes. Couponers save more money because we (have collin who shows us all) how to use the coupons to our best advantage so we are able to keep money in our own pockets.

  • [...] See original here: Walgreens Deals 10/10-10/16 – Hip2Save – Not Your Grandma's Coupon … [...]

  • Yola says:

At my walgreens you don’t even need the coupon anymore because when they scan it it scans the sale price and most of the cashiers don’t want to adjust the coupons down when it beeps.

  • marissa says:

I wish I had the BOGO soda coupons :-( . My small town paper really jips us with coupons sometimes.

  • Stephanie Werner says:

I just wanted to say something, about donating the glucose monitors. Previously when there were some good deals on these, I got a couple and donated them to the nurse at our local high school. She was SO happy! She said some of the diabetic students often forget to check their blood sugar and its not in their budget to buy these. Great way to help out!

  • SarahJane0721 says:

Hey Collin I have a quick question,
I have the BOGO Reach Total Care Floss Coupons what would the Scenario be for them? I do not know how much it costs at Wags but I have alot of them and want to get a good deal with them, Any suggestions?

    Anything would be helpful.

    Thanks

  • Erin says:

Okay, question. It’s been a LONG time since I went Waggin’. If I have 3 coupons for the halls coughdrops, can I use three in one transaction, pay $.75 and get $3 RR back? Or is it just one per transaction for the RR?

  • Yola says:

I have a question. You did not post anything about biore, are there any good deals about it? I have 2 $2 coupons but before buying anything I would like to see if there is a good deal or not! thanks!

  • Coupon_Ninja says:

OK Holy Schnikes. I made my last ditch effort to get the Nivea and EOS Sat around 5pm and my RR’s DID NOT come out!! First attempt – EOS, 3 playtex gloves, 3 .29 chocolates – 1 WQ playtex, 3 MQ playtex, 1 RR (Emergen-c) = no RR. So shift supv tells me some coupon “must have” interfered. So I return the EOS and basically get my RR back in cash.

I try the second transaction – 1 EOS, 2 Nyquil, 3 chocolates, -2 Nyquil MQ, several $2RR from fullbar…NO RR. So supv comes back to void the transaction. I say, “OK, how bout I just get the EOS and pay cash and see what happens. Drumroll please…NO RR! Hmmm so I’m not as stupid as I look. Anyway it all ended with her price adjusting the RR items down to account for the RR’s that wouldn’t come out, but seriously. Anyone have this happen on a Saturday evening? The prices were coming up correctly. The first cashier said someone had bought an EOS and gotten the RR not long before (but before 5pm). The green light was on the Catalina machine, it was the correct flavor/variety, etc etc.

It was funny as the supv was trying to tell me that an RR would not print if I used a MQ for the same item. Then as I’m telling her I’m not using a conflicting RR, I have the correct number of items vs coupons, the lady behind me says, “Yeah it has nothing to do with that, it should work.” HAA. Another customer who knows more than the management. Ughh I’m dreading this next week. My usual store who has a cashier I talk to has problems getting the deals in stock. Either they have millions, or 4. They ordered like 40 of the EOS and they got like 12 of the flavors that were not part of the deal. NO razors anywhere, Niveas gone, etc. Oh yes and at my stores the WQ “DO” count toward Q/item ratio :(
OK that’s my rant for the week. Still sortof got my way and schooled a supv a little, but I shouldn’t be in the store for 45 mins and have someone trying to “nicely” convince me I’ve done something the wrong way when I’m not. Interesting to hear from any of you having end of the sale week drama.

    • JG says:

The only issue that came up in regards to the EOS deal at my store, was that we sell four flavors and only two were covered by the Catalina.

    • A.D. says:

Mine didn’t print either. When this happens to me, I just e-mail Catalina Marketing (coupon@catalinamarketing.com) and they send me the RR in the mail. Just send them the name of the product(s) you purchased, the date and time of the transaction, the name of the store (Walgreens), your name and mailing address. Sometimes they have e-mailed me back and requested more information.

I have never had them turn me down; they always send me the RR in the mail in a few weeks. I really wish I had known I could do this a long time ago. It would have saved me very frustrating conversations with managers and store employees who don’t understand what is going on.

      Hope that helps, good luck!

    • Melissa S says:

When I shop late Saturday afternoon or evening, I have had trouble at both Walgreens and CVS with the catalina machines not spitting out the register rewards & CVS bucks. I am thinking that both stores have already had their machines set for the next week’s deals, so making a special trip to take advantage of the stores’ offers has not worked out well for me without it being a big hassle.

    • Coupon_Ninja says:

Thanks guys. I went to my usual store on Sunday and talked to that cashier and she said the only time she’s seen problems with the Catalina machine was when the store first opened….and she’s a late shift worker. It’s also annoying that the tags for the sale items are taken down. I had a problem like that at CVS and bought the wrong variety of Colgate and had to return it when no ECB printed. Well I guess I just stick to this store as much as I can, I know that the manager is a couponer as well :) and all of the cashiers are super helpful and admiring the deals that come across. Seems like the busier stores on the major roads are more stingy and generally annoyed with coupons.

  • romy says:

i have a $2 off coupon for Noxzema 4 blade razors that i got from the packaging last time i bought them. so, check yours if you have any :)

    • Gina says:

that coupon does not apply to the razors that are on sale. (fine print)

    • Anonymous says:

Worked GREAT! The coupon is for the Spa Ones that are on sale. Thanks!

      • amanda says:

Worked for me yesterday! I don’t know what sale I got these from the last time, but we never pay for razors with all the free deals every week! Woohoo $1MM and then that pack had ANOTHER coupon in it too so I will be going back sometime later this week for more freebies to donate! :)

  • Heidi says:

The comet cleanser coupon for $0.35 off in the 10/10 SS is for Comet Soft Cleanser or spray, which isn’t the same thing that is on sale at Walgreens for 2/$1.

  • Yola says:

Hi everybody, just went to walgreens and did the old spice and gillette deal, I think collin forgot to post one other coupon.
    I did this:
Buy 2 Old Spice Body Washes
    Buy 1 Gillette Body Wash
    Total = $10
Use the buy one get one free Old Spice coupon from the 9/26 PG
Use the $2/1 Gillette coupon from the 9/26 PG
Use the $1/2 coupon from the 9/26 PG
    Paid $3.66
    Got back a $3 RR
    so .22 for each!!!

For the life of me I cannot find the Soda coupon in the 9/19 SS – did anyone have luck?

  • Kesha says:

I had 2 redplums in my paper this week and totally did not get the Reach toothbrush coupons!! Did anyone else have this issue?

    • Couponbellastad says:

Sure did. In fact, I had a total of ONE coupon (yes, you read that right – one coupon) in the entire Red Plum insert this week. I only got the Folger’s coupon.

  • tgebbeken says:

I didn’t get the Reach coupon either. :(

  • angie says:

Could you please explain to me your math on the renuzit adjustables? My calculations is 2.67 for all 6. I understand how the 4.50 is subtracted – buy not the 3.66? Won’t it just take off for the three that you are paying for? Is there a policy for this?

    • April F. says:

I’m confused by the Renuzit deal scenario, too…seems like it should be more.

      • Amber says:

        The deal works like this:

        Buy 6 for $9 (2/$3)
        BOGO takes of $4.50
Wags Q takes of $3.66 (in ad Q says that each renuzit is .89 cents. That means the computer does this math – $1.50-.61 = .89… So for each renuzit you get .61 cent credit. .61×6 = $3.66)

        Remaining balance = .84 (.14 cents each before tax)…

  • Renee says:

I couldn’t find the $1 Noxzema Razor Q in the 9/19SS. I get the Chicago Tribune. Anyone find it?

    • Amy says:

Renee — I didn’t check for that one, but I couldn’t find the soda Q in the Chicago Tribune which is weird. Normally the trib has them all. Weird.

  • Stephanie says:

I bought 3 of the Reeses Pieces & 2 Chex Mix today. I also purchased other register reward deals. At the register I realized the Redbox 2 free rentals didn’t print out & when I questioned the cashier she said probably because I used coupons. After I got home I realized I didn’t get $3 rewards either. I called the store & they said probably because I had paid with some rewards from last week. Didn’t make sense to me. I called corporate & they are checking into it for me. Anyone else have the same problem today. My store is in GA.

    • Amy says:

I just got home and noticed I didn’t get the Redbox OR the $3 rewards either. I’m going to call corporate too. My store is in IL.

      • Amy says:

what # did you call? The one I have is only M-F

      • Stephanie says:

Amy I got a call from the store manager at Walgreens today & was told that one of the register rewards I paid with was for Dr. Pepper products. Funny thing is I didn’t buy Dr. Pepper products today. She said because Dr. Pepper was one of the products on the Redbox deal Chex Mix was considered a Dr. Pepper product. I’m more confused than ever!

        • OiOi says:

Stephanie – on my $3.00 RR that I received from the “buy $10 get $3 & 2 RedBox codes” offer it said compliments of Dr. Pepper, Hershey, General Mills and ConAgra – so if you used any RR from one of those companies I’m sure it nulled your $3 RR + 2 RB codes. Talk about a confusing RR offer!!! I think you should have still received the 2 RB codes even if they don’t give you the RR – to me that was a free gift with purchase.

You can use these RedBox codes for a free rental:
          DVDONME
          BREAKROOM
DVDATWAG (only valid @ Walgreens RedBoxes)
DVDKROG (only valid @ Kroger RedBoxes)
DRIVEIN (only valid @ Sonic RedBoxes)

          Hth! ♥

  • Jessica says:

If you are in the market for snuggies use the $5 off coupon and get them on clearance at bed bath and beyond for 9.99 then use the 20% off store coupons as well.. then you get them for 2.99…. a great price for something I don’t know if I’d ever buy — except its perfect for our christmas gifts!

  • Anne says:

Does anyone know if the sinex deal that was posted a couple of days ago is still valid? I did not make it there last week–I am not sure if it is a month long deal or weekly since it was not in my ad last week.

  • Rachel says:

There is a Brawny $1/2 2-Roll or larger Q in the 10/10 RP.

  • Jackie says:

I did the reach deal, it worked perfectly, my wags even had bonus packs of 2 brushes in it… score!!!

  • Heather says:

The renuzit deal worked like this for me.

    Bought 6 @ $1.99 each
    Used b3g3 -$5.98
Used in ad coupon to make them $.89 each -$6.60
    Total savings -$12.98
Should have cost $11.94 before coupons. That means I made $1.04 for buying 6.

  • Heather says:

Mine was a mm because they are regularly $1.99 not 2/$3.

  • Rhonda says:

I didn’t see the Renuzit coupons in the paper. Did anyone else not get them??

  • deeds says:

Just got back from Wags…..did the Redbox/RR deal. Uggh! Bought exactly $10.50 before coupons…….did not print out either. Manager had to void out and ring me out again AND I purchased 2 more liters of pop!!! He said the total has to be over $10 with coupons. I thought you just had to reach the amount without coupons. SO ANNOYING!!!
side note—the carmel bugels are yummy!!!! :)

    • Anonymous says:

You have to reach $10.00 before tax! The coupons shouldn’t have anything to do with it.

    • Melissa R. says:

Here’s what may have gone wrong…If you bought the caramel or chocolate Bugles, they aren’t included in the deal. The ad states the Bugles must be 7.5oz and the sweet flavored ones are only 6oz.

  • Melissa says:

I did the huggies deal and got two size 3 diapers, a 184 count wipes a reese cup and a little bag of m&ms for $14. I used the coupons that huggies send out and two of the RR that you get when you buy the diapers. The wipes were on sake for 4.99 at my store.

  • Betty says:

Did anyone try the Snickers deal yet? Any success?

  • Jessica says:

Can someone tell me if I can do the Gillette & oldspice deal that is 3/$10…use 2 b1g1 free and then use 2 $1 off coupons? I will be buying two and getting two free. But I want to use four coupons for four items? will that work at walgreens?

  • Anonymous says:

okay i’m really getting aggravated with walgreens. i went to one yesterday and they say “oh we don’t accept these coupons anymore.” it was the $2.50 huggies coupons printed from the internet. the manager even said well we don’t know if they are copied. so i left everything at the register, took my coupons, traveled 1 mile down to another walgreens and had no problems. UHh!!!

    • Anonymous says:

Walgreens managers can refuse printed coupons, though it is usually only certain managers/stores. They have been having a problem with coupon fraud lately which may be one of the reasons why that store wouldn’t accept yours. I love using coupons but if one doesn’t understand how to use them it can be frustrating to comprehend. I’ve worked at Walgreens for 5 years and have had to explain countless times to managers how coupon stacking works. Just remember to stay calm and don’t get upset. Leaving all of your items at the register won’t make things better, either. It will make the employees who spoke with you before not want to help you the next time you come in. Employees are the ones who have to put your left items up, and then deal with 100 other customers throughout the day just like you. That is why we are not always in a happy mood, either. If you believe there is a problem at your store or with a manager, then simply call 1-800-WALGREENS and they will be happy to assist you with any questions you have. Just please don’t take it out on the employees. We only work there. We don’t run the company. We are people with feelings too!

  • Shari says:

Went to Wags this morning to get some Snickers (love them!) The deal didn’t work out quite like I had planned, but it was still a good deal. Since the snickers are $.89 each, or 2 for $1.59, the cashier (and manager agreed) that they would only take the $.70 off for the B1G1 free. Then, when they rang the Wags coupon, it took off .61 for 2…so, buying 6, it looked like this:
    6 snickers @ 2 for $1.59 = $ 4.77
    3 B1G1 coupons = ($ 2.10)
    Wags Q ($.49 each) = ($ 1.83)
Total for 6 snickers = $ .84 or $.14 each…..still not bad for full size Snickers!

Does anyone know if the Pampers RR apply to any type of Pampers? I know its for the big box but I need the Swaddlers not the Cruisers. Just trying to plan accordingly and need to know if I’m going to have that $3 RR. Thanks for your help I’m a newbie.

  • Janet T says:

I tried to do the Reach Toothbrush deal and I used the BOGO coupon first and then the Walgreens in ad coupon and it would only give me $2 off because I used the BOGO coupon it wouldn’t give me $4 only $2. She even scanned it twice for me to see if it would take it and no go. So both toothbrushes were $1 which isn’t a bad price. I also got the wrong toothbrushes, I got Total care without the whitening..oh well. I don’t know if that made a difference or not. Oh and it did accept the $1 coupon no problem. Anyone else have this problem?

  • Theresa says:

The energizer deal is sweeter you can use 3/1 coupons that glow stick is a flashlight. so end cost is 3/3
