Walgreens: Huggies Diapers Deal Scenario

This Hip2Save.com Deal was hand-posted on Tuesday, October 26th, 2010 at 8:59 pm.

Heather over at Passion for Savings came up with an awesome deal scenario for all of you that want to score an inexpensive package of Huggies diapers at Walgreens. Check it out below…

Transaction #1:
Buy Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste $3.49
Use the $1/1 coupon from the 10/10 SS or found here
Pay $2.49
Get back a $3.50 RR

Transaction #2:
Buy Contac Cold & Flu $6
Buy 1 Small Filler item (Laffy Taffy, $0.10)
Total = around $6.10
Use the $2/1 coupon from the 10/10 RP or $2/1 printable (no longer available)
Plus, use the $3.50 RR earned from the 1st transaction
Pay $0.60 (+ tax)
Get back a $6 RR

Transaction #3:
Buy Huggies Diapers $7.99
Buy Filler item (M&Ms single packs on Mega Saver $0.59)
Total = around $8.58
Use the $2.50/1 Huggies coupon found here or $2/1 coupon found here
Plus, use the $6 RR earned from the above transaction
Pay as low as $0.08
And get back a $1 RR

Your final out of pocket expense after all 3 transactions– ONLY $3.17! Plus, you’ll still have a $1 RR to use at a later date! …And remember, you’ll have snagged one package of Huggies diapers, Colgate toothpaste, Contac + More!

(Thanks for putting together such a great scenario, Heather!)

If anyone still has their free m&m’s coupon that would be a good filler – then it would also make the cost cheaper too! I still have mine

  • rose says:

the M&Ms are already a filler to even the coupon to product count. If you add the M&Ms coupon, you’ll need another filler (ie 3 cpns to 2 products since Walgreens considers RR manf coupons)

  • Mari says:

That’s great! I just wish we could do several transactions at Walgreen like at CVS instead of having to do one transaction per visit.

  • Julie says:

I was at Walgreens today looking at the diapers thinking….”I bet Collin has a deal posted for this” I come home to check out the most recent posts and yep, as usual you are right on top of things! THANKS!

  • missy says:

im new to walgreens shopping, do you have to have a walgreens card(is there such a thing?) to take advantage of these deals to get the register reward?

  • jen wade says:

no card necessary at walgreens to snag the rewards. @mari – i do several transactions in a row at walgreens all the time and often use the rr from the previous transactions as part of my next transactions.

    • Mari says:

Wow, that’s cool, our RR say use on your next visit, and I asked about it and they told me I could not use it on the same visit, that I have to leave and come back a while later, they are not allowed to accept them in the same visit. I have had RRs expire on me because I often don’t go back in time (they seem to expire in a shorter period than ECBs), and I will not waste a trip to use a $2 RR (lol, gas money alone would cancel it), so I have to be in the area to make it worth it. With CVS I usually use them all up there, although I am carrying a $10 one from the cereal deal, but I have had some expire on me before too. Although they do take ECB that are a couple of days expired, it took me a month to get back and they said they couldn’t take it… oh well.

      • Lynne says:

You can use them on your next transaction. The register rewards read ‘valid on your next in store purchase over the value of coupon’. You do not need to come back later. That is just a manager who does not know the rules.

      • Shelly T. says:

My local WAGS will not even let you come back later that day. You have to wait until the NEXT day to use your RR!!

    • rose says:

There are some stores that do have a card w/point reward system they are test running. Not sure if thats the route Wags will eventually go. they’ve had some pretty negative fb from what I’ve read on other boards.

      • Mrs.Hall says:

I so wish I could do the RR’s too. I live about 40 minutes away with a 4 year old and a 2 month old, I’m lucky if I get out period lol. So if I had a few dollars in RR, it would not be worth it :( But if I lived in the same town and the store was just a few minutes away, heck ya! I’d be all over them lol :)

  • Kersy says:

    wow! impressive!

  • Kenyatta says:

Just got one pack but going back tomorrow for more diapers!

  • susan says:

colgate coupon isn’t available for me anymore

  • heather says:

would be awesome if my wags would let me do more than one transaction, i have to leave the store and come back or go to a differnt wags…

  • Lynn J says:

Can’t find the contact coupon in my binder :-(

  • Chandra says:

Speaking of diapers, I have a 20% Pampers on Amazon coupon code from my Parenting magazine. I don’t need it, so I’ll give it to the first person who wants it and emails me at chandrapinkerton@yahoo.com. :)

  • Rachel Durfee says:

the colgate coupon is out. also I did 9 transactions in a row at walgreens the other day using rr on each one. The manager was the one u rung me up and help me figure out how many fillers i needed.

  • Stephanie R says:

The Colgate in my 10/10 SS is for Colgate Total. Is the toothpaste mentioned here Total?

    • shana says:

      Colgate Sensitive

      • Drina says:

I found the Colgate Sensitive coupon in my 10-3 SS, but I could have mistakenly put it there. Just a thought, if you’re having a hard time finding it in the 10/10.

    • shana says:

I was so proud of myself and my diaper, Contac, toothpaste scenario that I played out at WAGS the other day… It was a good steal for an amateur like me! I let go 3 or 4 dollars in exchange for less transactions, but did 5 transactions and made out with 6 packs of diapers, 1 pack of pull-ups, Contac, 2 toothpastes, 3 hamburger helpers, and some fillers of popcorn balls, m&m’s, and laffy taffy for $40 plus taxes. I walked away happy and I won’t have to trot my toddler and my infant into the store to pick up diapers for a while! (Actually the last time I bought diapers was before my last was born when WAGS had a similar deal going on!)

    • rachel durfee says:

no it is the colgate sensitive the coupon below the one u r talking about same page on the insert.

  • April says:

Thanks! Just did this transaction and it worked great. I love my Walgreen’s cosmetic cashier she is always so friendly and nice and never complains when I use coupons or do 3 transactions!

  • shana says:

When I did my transactions for diapers at WAGS the catalina machine printed out $5 coupons for Enfamil and $2 (I believe it was 2) coupons off Pampers.

  • Priscilla says:

Thanks for posting this Collin. I have all the coupons ready to go and I will be doing this deal tomorrow!

  • Leah says:

I think there is a $3/1 Huggies MQ on Target’s website that would make the deal better (would probably cut into the tax you pay OOP :) ).

  • Any ideas what else I could do instead of the Contac? I didn’t get the paper that week and the coupon online is gone now :(

    • Drina says:

You could do two separate Colgate transactions. I did that yesterday, and the cahsier had no problem with it. I had two Colgate coupons on me, and each gave me back a $3.50 RR. I might go back today for this diaper deal!

      • Melissa says:

Just be careful that colgate and huggies are not the same manufacturer though. If so you won’t get your RR on the huggies! I’m not sure who the manufacturers are on either of them.

    • Rachel Durfee says:

the contac is still free after rr then use that to buy the diapers.

  • L.H. says:

Thank you Thank you for posting this. This is exactly what I needed. I always buy the deals that you post in red (if I have the coupons for them) and I get lots of RRs but I always end up paying like $30.00 out of pocket. I never understood how to make it so that my RRs are used that day and I pay little out of pocket. So again thank you!!

  • Christina says:

I found a Contac coupon from a previous newspaper, but I don’t know the date.

  • Rachel Durfee says:

Here are a few more scenarios to post with the walgreens toothpaste deal.
    deal one
do four tranasctions for the toothpaste with four 1 off coupons. Then use two to buy the mucinex for 6.99 and fill with four 20 cents jello off brand to get over seven with tax. A mail in rebate will print for the mucinex for 6.99. DO this twice with the two different mucinex for kids syrups. This makes the toothpaste free except for tax and a 4 dollar profit. The colgate coupons are out of print so you ahve to have the insert for this deal. Icouldn’t find any mucinex coupons that would make the deal sweeter money maker.

    Next deal
do four transactions on the toothpaste with the coupons like the first deal. Then buy two purex 3 in 1 with two 3 off 1 coupons total is 3 cushion with 5 for 1 jello with in ad ad coupon. Use 3.50 rr from toothpaste to pay and pay out tax. Then use two 3.50 rr to buy the contact med. Coupon also out of print if u have u will make 2 on it. Again cushion with 7 jello at 20 cents. Pay with two 3.50 rr get back 6 rr. Use the 6 u get back to buy the diapers with a 2 off or 2.50 or 3 off coupon. IF u have a higher value then 2 off cushion with 50 cents mortan salt with in ad coupon or more jello. Hope this helps someone out.

  • [...] a $2/1 coupon available too! Use these Huggies coupons to score some very sweet deals on diapers at Walgreens and Rite [...]

I was able to do this deal this morning. For my filler items I was able to find clearance items – a coloring book for 14 cents and a Hannah Montana photo frame for 59 cents.

  • Sara says:

Can anyone help a newbie out? I want to use 2 of the colgate coupons so I can get the RR to go towards the diapers. My RP didn’t have the contac coupon and the printables are gone. I also have a $2.50 coupon for the diapers. How many fillers, etc do I need to do? I also one time had an issue using RR because of taxes. (don’t really understand that part either).
    Thanks!

    • Lynn J says:

A register reward coupon is like a mfg coupon so you can not have more coupons that total items, hense the filler. Your total before tax and after regulr mfg coupons must be higher that the value of your register rewards. So if you buy diapers and want to use a mfg coupon and a reg reward, you must have 2 items = to or more than the value of the coupons. If you want to use 2 reg rewards with a mfg coupon you need 2 fillers.

    • rachel durfee says:

rr rewards can not pay tax by law. The contac and colgate are no longer available. However there are colgate coupons in both the 10/3 and 10/10 ss.
you will have to do two seperate transactions for the two toothpaste one toothpaste per transaction. Then u will have 7 in rr the diapers are 9-2.50 coupon is 6.50 u need to spend 50 cents plus tax to use your rewards. My suggestions is to buy four of the 20 cent jello off brand with in ad coupon. The in ad coupons don’t count towards your total coupon count. Your total will be 7.30 – 7 rr so you will jsut pay sales tax essentially.

      • Sara says:

Thanks for your help!! I appreciate it :)
Now, if food is not taxed here, I could essentially use a $1 RR on a $1 food product right?

  • Denise says:

Ok silly question, but were do you find the laffy taffy for 10 cents?
