Wow! Check out this email I received from reader, Robin…

    Sweet, thank you!

  2. Shebella

That is so good to know. I am going to try my luck later this week.

  3. Cindy

Awesome! I remember when they use to carry the rayovac batteries for $1 and would match up with $1/1 coupons. Scored tons of free batteries then, but my stash is getting low. I’ll have to get a few to have on hand. Hope it works!

  4. joie

Thanks a bunch cant wait always going through the AA for that cable remote of mine

  5. debra

I will let you know. I am on my way out to target in a little while. Glad I saw this before I left.

  6. Amanda

The coupons state energizer BRAND batteries… these may be MADE by the company but it is not the brand so it is not correct usage…

    • Collin

      Hi Amanda,

What I got out of the readers email above is that Eveready batteries are in fact an Energizer brand. She also mentions it states this on the back of the battery pack. At this point, I cannot verify this since I don’t have a package on hand, so if any of you have additional info to share, please feel free. Thanks! 🙂

        Hi Amanda and Collin
I actually called Energizer’s Customer Service about a month or two ago when Giant Eagle had Eveready batteries on sale for $1 and asked them if it was okay to use the Energizer battery coupon for them. The customer service lady told me that it would be absolutely fine since they are made by energizer. I didn’t have any coupons left to use, so I didn’t get to grab any for FREE, but I hope this helps to let everyone know that it’s okay to use this coupon. If the coupon states you have to buy a certain size or a specific kind then I wouldn’t use it, but if it says any energizer product/battery then it’s perfectly legit 😀
I have purchased the cheap Eveready flashlights with the coupon that states “any Energizer product”!

        • christa

That’s great news. Time to clip my energizer coupons

    • justwannasave

Amanda, This does work because this an energizer brand. I have got my free batteries. Go ppicke me up!!

  7. mavis

**** Yes… it’s true! The coupon does not beep at all. I’ve used 10 coupons at once with no problems! We know have a 2 year supply of batteries Woooo Hoooo!

    • Cherish

      which coupons did you use?

      • mavis

I used all three of the $1. 00 off energizer coupons found in the inserts! They all work!

  8. Nancy Ashby

yes it does work. Target used to have a $1/5 coupon as well that can be stacked with the batteries. Not sure if the target coupon is still up on their site or not though.

    • DP

I don’t beleive this coupon can be – I think it is $1 off when you buy 1 pack $5 or more.

  9. chrissygwhite

    sweet! Thanks for sharing!

The coupons state energizer BRAND batteries… these may be MADE by the company but it is not the brand so it is not correct usage…

Should we use these coupons or would it be coupon fraud?

    • tilla ham

it says energizer brand, and eveready is an energizer brand. it is like saying general mills brand cereal but chex is a gm brand. as long as it’s part of the family of brands made by energizer it is legit, not coupon fraud!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I think fraud…different product. Lots of companies make other brands, but you use the coupon for the product you are buying, not the company who makes it.

    • Donna

I too was skeptical and thought this was coupon fraud so I wrote the company and asked them if it was ok to use the coupon on an eveready battery. Not only did they write back to me and state ‘yes, I could use the coupon on an eveready battery’, but them gave me $5 coupon off on my next purchase. I take the email copy with me every time I go to target to get batteries.

  11. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Read another blog that it is legal (she’d contacted Eveready). Here’s the email reply she’d got:

According to Energizer, the coupon usage is absolutely NOT fraud

My inquiry to Eveready(and I might add, I used the contact us from the Everready site and my instant email confirmation that they got my email came back with the Energizer name):

Comments: I am a coupon moderator for a large couponing community that has a question on correct coupon usage. You have an everready flashlight and on the back of the package it does say Energizer company. Can a consumer use a coupon for ANY Energizer product on an Everready flashlight or are you in fact two separate companies? Thank you

    Their response:
    Case ID: 3006706
    Dear Stephanie,

    —–

Thank you for contacting Energizer and also for your inquiry.

Yes you can use any Energizer coupon to any Eveready products.

Thank you for contacting Energizer. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you so much for posting this. I think that will put an end to people worrying about coupon fraud!

  12. Mo

WHOO HOO! TY ROBIN! Ours stopped carrying Rayovac – and started carrying these instead! I was SO bummed b/c I like to have batteries to go w/presents we give that require them, but try not to break the budget doing so! I couldn’t find coupons for Eveready ANYWHERE – YOU GO GIRL! Way to use your noggin!! You have just saved ALL of us hipsters a FORTUNE!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YA! Collin – ty for passing this on!!

  13. Heather

Where do we get the coupons at????????????? Thanks!!!

    • couponlaydee

      10/3 SS
      11/21 SS
      12/12 SS

  14. Bonnie

The coupons weren’t in any of my SS’s Bummer!!! 🙁 No free batts for me…

  15. Vee

I’ve heard this bargain going on for a while now, but some said these batteries are exactly what you pay for them. They don’t last very long at all. I’ve also heard that if you freeze your batteries they will last longer but I’ve never had the chance to try it yet.

    • Sarah

I guess I would care how long they last if I was paying for them.. but since they are free… no worries here! 🙂

    • Nicole Z.

I bought some of the Rayovac batteries at the $1 Spot a few months back with a coupon. They DON’T last as long. It gets a little annoying when my daughter’s Fisher Price nightlight goes out and we find ourselves replacing the batteries every few weeks. My daughter even knows where we keep the batteries now because we change them so frequently. These were the Rayovac made with Zinc Chloride. On the package, it also states ideal for low drain devices like clock radios, flashlights, boomboxes. It also states to use alkaline batteries for higher-drain devices like cameras and ipods. Just an fyi…check if the batteries are alkaline or zinc chloride. I believe that’s the big difference. I just bought them because I had a coupon last time…of course, right?!…I won’t be buying them again for kids’ toys. HTH!

    • Steph

Absolutely. Although I can’t speak for Eveready, Rayovacs do not last. I have even had batteries come directly out of the pack and not work. I will not be buying those again.

    • Deb

      Hohoho-good one!
If they’re gonna be free, who cares how long they last? Free is free!

      • Bonnie

I don’t know about not caring since they were free. I stocked up on the Rayovac and have yet to find anything that they work in. I have tried remotes, toys etc. and none work with these batteries right out of the pack! I hope the Everready are better.

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

i have always had good luck with the rayovac!

  16. Rosana

I did this a couple weeks ago at Target, and my coupons went through just fine. 🙂

  17. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I have a bin FULL of these! All free! They even have 9 volts!

  18. Mitchell Wischmann

I snagged a few this weekend at the downtown Minneapolis store…and no beeps! 🙂

  19. FrugalDarling

Yep… got ’em yesterday! Plus, you can stack with the $1 off $5 Energizer purchase Target web coupon (under electronics) for even more savings! The Everready batteries say on the back that it’s an Energizer brand. My coupons went through with no beeps and no hassle from the cashier, but if you have trouble, you could always show them the back of the batteries where it says they’re an Energizer brand. 😀

  20. Connie

    Awesome thanks for the info.

  21. Aysha

Sort of off topic, but you can use pamper coupons on luvs because they are the same company as well.

    • Jillian

I often wondered about that, since Luvs are shown in the P&G books!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

if it was to say any brand of diaper by p & g!

  22. debra

I just did this and it worked fine. The coupons even matched up on the receipt to the batteries. Usually if they don’t match perfectly the coupons tend to go to the bottom of the receipt. So I am sure it is legit! Thanks Collin!!!!!

  23. Krista

Off topic, but I got a 20 pack of duracell batteries at target tonight for 5.50 and it had coupons in there for P&G products 🙂

    • julie

      Can you share how 🙂

      • krista

There was a coupon in one of the red plum ads I believe for 2 dollars off and it was a target coupon and then there was a 2 dollar off man. coupon in another ad. ( i don’t remember which one 🙁 ) and they were on sale for 9.50

  24. Mrs. Pete Sampras

The coupon doesn’t beep because it’s a 992. It would work for spaghetti if you bought it.

    • Randa

      What is a 992?

      • brenda z

yes curious to that as well 🙂

        • Maria

          Me too? What’s a 992

        • MommySpendsLess

Bar codes on coupons can be decoded so that it is possible to figure out exactly which products the coupon will work on without beeping. The numbers are divided into sections with each section possibly narrowing down the number of products the coupon can be used on. Some numbers, or actually groups of numbers, are like wild cards so that a coupon can be used on any item in a particular product line or even any product by a certain manufacturer. The bar code also contains the information to tell the computer how much the coupon is worth and how many items you have to buy.

I don’t know how the system actually breaks down so this is a strictly conceptual example and I’m pretending that 5 is a wild card variable.

A coupon for ANY P&G product might be 123-555-555
A coupon for any Pampers product might be 123-789-555
A coupon for any Tide product might be 123-678-555
A coupon for Pampers Cruisers might be 123-789-012

So if you had a coupon that said “$1 off any Pampers Cruisers” but was coded 123-555-555, the REGISTER would let you use it on Luvs, Bounty, Duracell, Charmin, etc.

The problem is that decoding easily lends itself to abuse and coupon fraud. People were using it to use high dollar coupons meant for expensive products on cheaper ones. Since there are a finite number of combinations for the quantity required (like a $1/3 coupon) the coupons are sometimes coded to the closest number and people were taking advantage of that as well.

Based on Mrs. Pete Sampras’s comment, I’m guessing a coupon with 992 is very vague.

Just my personal opinion here (and I’m occasionally wrong, just don’t tell my hubby 🙂 ): I think we can get away with using the Energizer coupons on Eveready because Energizer is the parent company, Eveready is a subsidary…and mostly because Energizer said it’s okay. Although, following that logic we should also be able to use the coupons on Schick and Playtex products as well because they’re also part of Energizer Holdings, Inc. and thus technically Energizer products and that doesn’t seem right to me. To PP Aysha, I don’t think this example can be carried over to Pampers/Luvs because their coupons read Pampers diapers, not any P&G diapers.

          • Rebekah

very good explanation! I know all the things you just said but would have never been able to explain it that well 🙂

            • MommySpendsLess

              Aw, thanks!! 🙂

          • aysha

hmmm super interesting and informative. i had used the pampers coupons a number of times on luvs for my ds when he was younger…someone told me about it (babycheapskate!?) anyhow, it works and doesnt beep or anything… hope it wasnt considered fraud.

          • Jennifer K.

Thanks for this explanation! I bought two Pictureka games last week with the $5 off coupons. In the same transaction, I bought two Beyblade toys for a gift for my son’s friend. The $5 off coupons were applied to the Beyblades on my receipt and I was totally confused. Your post explains how that could have happened. I’m still concerned, though, that if I need to return those Beyblade toys, it will look like I only paid a dollar each for them because the coupons were applied to them even though they were for another product.

  25. sherrybethb

I’ve heard there are some batteries made by the same company, (the same battery) they just put different labels on them.

  26. Rebecca

I just went to Target with 12 coupons in hand and all were accepted. Thank you for posting this. 🙂

  27. Tim Janssen

Just got 20 packs (4 of each available kind) at Target! FREE Batteries are good! Hopefully they last longer than the Rayovac batteries we used to have.

  28. weyanna73

Thank you So much just picked up 5 pack of batteries.

  29. Heather

I was able to get 4 packs. I only had the coupons from the 10/3 ss, I didn’t see them in the 11/21 or the 12/12 ss. I’m in Utah.

  30. Shari

I bought 10 packs a few weeks ago, had 10 $1 Energizer coupons, and 2 of the Target $1/$5 Energizer battery coupons. The Target Qs beepped, but when I explained that it wasn’t just for the multipack, it was if you bought $5 of Energizer product, she pushed it through…so, 10 packs of batteries for free and $2 overage! I think I have more Qs now, so can’t wait to go try…but might wait till after Christmas (Target is crazy these days)!

  31. mary

Thanks for the scoop on the batteries! I might wait until after Christmas to go to Target.

  32. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

P&G makes Bounty and Charmin…but you would never use a Bounty coupon for Charmin just because they are the same company. Eveready is the value brand and NO WAY did they intend that coupon to be used on Eveready. This use is why stores hassle us sometimes, so much abuse with coupons.

    • Heather W

That is funny since there is an email from Energizer saying you can use them on Eveready. I don’t know about everyone else, but I think Energizer knows more about what their coupons are to be used for than “anonymous”. JMO

  33. 417bmcatee

I went to Target last night and used a $1 Energizer product coupon on the Everready batteries. I checked the package, and it says on the back “copyright 2008 Energizer”. I got the alkaline batteries, although, they had heavy duty, too.

Since it says Energizer right on the package, I don’t see how it can even be considered fraudulent usage. It states on the package that it is an Energizer product, which is what the coupon states.

  34. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

what sizes doe they come in?

  35. Bobby

Yes it works! Just scored 29 packs of batteries, along with 12 bottles of nail polish, 10 reach flosses, 10 packs of band-aids, 10 johnson & johnson first aid kits, 6 oral-b rechargeable toothbrushes (all the store had in stock at 12.99 each), 8 bottles of tresseme shampoo & conditioner (just marked down to 2.12), 8 bottles of listerine zero (marked down to 2.12), and 6 airwick candles (2.97 candles are now marked down to 2,47). I used coupons with everything including a coupon target mailed me for $15.00 dollars off $100.00. My total after overage from the candles, which Target actually allowed for once?, ended by being tax only $7.32. Luckily I had a young guy in college as my cashier and he was cool about all the coupons. In the past Target has treated me like I was some kind of thief for knowing about and using coupons, but this day turned out to be a little Christmas miracle. Now my holiday shopping is done!! Bring on the football playoffs!!

    • Sylvia

Wow!! do tell what coupons you used for the 10 packs of band-aids, 10 johnson & johnson first aid kits, 6 oral-b rechargeable toothbrushes (all the store had in stock at 12.99 each), 8 bottles of tresseme shampoo & conditioner, 8 bottles of listerine zero and 6 airwick candles.
      Thanks,
      Sylvia

    • Sylvia
  36. Mom22

Yahoo!! I got 3 packs today and no beeps :). I really needed some. Thanks for posting 🙂

  37. Sylvia

I used only 8 today because I wasn’t sure if they would work.. all my energizer coupons worked on the ever ready batteries. Thank you!!
