How many of you have made a resolution to more effectively organize your finances and/or life in general this year? I am guessing that quite a few of you are looking to improve your organizational methods as I have received many emails in the last few days regarding this topic. Can anyone recommed a good personal finance site other than mint.com? It looks so awesome, but my bank doesn’t support it (won’t let mint.com access transactions). I am totally bummed! May have to consider switching banks!

That came from Pottery Barn. In the previous comments people have provided a link to the original on Pottery Barn, as well a few suggestions/links on how to make something similar for less OOP.

We have been budgeting in categories for a few years after reading Dave Ramsey’s books. Found this site I’m going to use in the new year-http://www.mytxtregister.com- you can update what you spent by a text message which updates your budget online or request a balance from a categories (such as gift or entertainment) when out and about. So you don’t overspend! Excited to see how this works out this year.

Thanks Colin, I decided this year I was going to be more organized with my coupons and utilize the binder method. I have been looking around for the items I needed but there wasn’t much around town to choose from so hubby and I went to the next town over (about 45 miles) on Saturday the 1st of the new year and we purchased most of what was needed from Target, a two sided binder, plastic page dividers, color coded and the baseball card inserts I needed. I then went to the Walmart and picked up the 4X6 photo protectors and I have been busy getting everything organized.
I have also done a Microsoft Publisher of all the page indexes over this last couple of days too so I have been very very busy and taking alot of time but I want this to be organized enough that it doesn’t take too much to maintain and I can see how this will definitely save me money and time. No more searching for coupons in my plastic box which should save me lots of time.
My year will be focusing on lowering my OOP costs as well as continue to learn the coupon circle. Happy New Year Everyone.

I fell down the steps the day after Christmas! AAAAHHH! Thats the bad news. I’m in bed with my leg casted and elevated for at least 2 weeks. What better time to go through paper work and organize some things I can do from here. That’s the good news.
