I’ve had a very busy day today, so I haven’t had much of chance to be on the blog like I normally am. With that being said, I did want to quickly give you all a heads up (Some of you may know this already) that the Amazon Hammermill paper order got canceled and so did the My 24 Hour Fitness orders. 🙁 It does stink when deals don’t go as planned, but I hope that all the sweet deals you’re able to score here on Hip2Save far outweigh the ones that don’t work out.

    oh well… didn’t need paper but would have been nice.who the deal was suppose to come from sent me an email and was only supposed to be one ream…. only bad thing I used a gift card for it……..now will have to search for a great deal on amazon …..oh poor me…. such hard work….lol

      I used a gift card as well and just checked my account and it was placed back in there. Smitha, once they are in your account I don’t believe they expire.

    Oh man- I didn’t even get an email from Amazon but I did get one for 24 Hour Fitness- man I was looking forward to both of them! 🙁 Oh well….. I can always find something else 😉

    That fitness code was definitely bad. My order was just cancelled. Obviously you don’t really vet these..

    “Yes, we spend a lot of time checking out deals since there are plenty of scams and questionable offers. We personally test out a deal before posting it and will order a freebie or complete a survey to ensure that the offer is valid.” Really? An awful lot of retractions recently (tuna at Rite Aid, etc.)

      Not sure what point you’re trying to make here. Collin did place the orders first before posting on this site and she even included a warning that the order may be cancelled by Amazon. I believe she’s still true to her statement the best she can possibly be under these circumstances even though some deals have been retracted, etc.

      im only 14 but your comment really irked me and even i know better than to say something like that. it sounded like you were blaming collin for the canceled orders which was not her fault at all. you should be thankful and feel lucky that collin posts all these great deals for US to try out. im pretty sure she does try most of these out, but they didnt cancel the orders until HOURS later when the price had already gone back up, theres never anyway to post a deal and be POSITIVE that its going to work until later when its all sold out or the price has gone back up. if you dont like how collin conducts HER BLOG then please feel free to go find another blog, or better yet try to make your own blog and see how it works out for ya.

        Yeah, I totally agree with this 14 year old. Wow, you are wise beyond your years! All the whining nay-sayers can find their own deals. Remember….if it sounds too good to be true it probably is and Collin stated in her origanal post that this was most probably a price mistake and buyer beware. Grow up people.

      Settle down. She takes the time to post all these awesome deals. Not everything works out. No one is perfect. Instead of complaining, stop visiting her blog if you don’t like it!

      I would prefer that Colin posts the deals the second she gets the info about it not minutes or hours later when she tries it out. There are hundreds of sites that post these deals and people jump on them so I would rather try and hope for the best than miss out waiting for someone to test it.

        Ditto, and although placing these orders would not have let her know they would be cancelled, we can’t expect her to buy every single deal she finds, some deals might be things she doesn’t need, but great for many of her readers. She doesn’t have any young babies, but she has posted deals that have helped many of us that have lots of little ones, etc… Jay, you might be having a bad day and didn’t mean to sound negative, I just wanted to comment so Collin knows many of us do want to hear about the deals she uses her experience and resources to find, even if there is a dud every now and then :)… If she made this site 100% dud free we would miss out on a lot in the name of caution.

      I am so thankful for Colin and her blog. She has taught me most everything I know about coupons.
      I tried this offer, it didn’t work, so? If you are looking for the Perfect Blog, you better get started, because I don’t believe it exists. So, perfect or not, I think I will stay with Colin and when an offer she posts doesn’t workout, I will remember all the ones that do.

Take some responsibility for yourself and do your own research or better yet, don’t use her site if you have an issue with it. She busts her butt for the good of other people and you just want to point fingers. You clearly have bigger issues than her blog site.

    It was worth a shot. I am not at all upset about it. I was looking forward to the 24hourfitness order and hoping it would come but oh well. I understand why they cancelled it since I had not ordered the whey but I wish 24hourfitness site would have had a screen come up to tell me that the code was only for people that had ordered that, I would have bought some of that too if it would have let me use the code then. Thanks Collin for posting it anyway. Would have been awesome! 🙂

    People complaining about Collin on a deal that was a mis-print to begin with… that she said may be an error? If you don’t like taking chances on deals being cancelled, then don’t take the ‘risk’ to place an order. Its not like she told you to go get an immunization that ended up poisoning you….you know?

      Didn’t say a word about “order may be cancelled”. Just posted a code that was given to a particular repeat customer as a reward, as if it were a general code. (and which basically could’ve put that site out of business if they’d let that through by accident). The tuna deal at Rite Aid wasn’t valid at all.. so I can’t believe she tried it personally, even though the site faq says she tries everything.. So maybe update the faq.

      Let the flaming and worshipping recommence.

        You realize Collins is not the only one that posted these deals. I saw them on at least 3 other deal sites, and they all lost out too. You need to back off a bit, we all win way more than we lose in the coupon and deal game so show a little humility and move on.

        That is hilarious — did you NEED the free blender bottle? At that point, what’s $10? Just buy it. In fact, Collin has dutifully instructed all us readers how to sign up for a FREE subscription to Amazon Prime (Mom, Student). She has additionally posted about reliable and tested/vetted websites that quickly net free $10 Amazon gift certificates. Two and two together: Free blender bottle! OMG!

        I read some other blogs too and I think the tuna deal was working for a while, but Rite Aid fixed it so it wouldn’t. Or maybe it was some of the other food. Whatever. If something is pretty obviously a mistake I don’t even try the deal cause I figure it will get cancelled. It’s no big deal. If you really need an exercise ball Amazon has them pretty cheap.

    I ordered from both sites, and haven’t received any cancellation notice. Looks like they will be cancelled, though. Oh well. By the way, I did receive the 1.99 blanket from One stop Plus. I go ahead and order things- as long as my credit card is not charged, I let it go- that’s the chance you take.

    Collin, thanks for telling us about the awesome deals! The deals that work far out weigh a few that fall through. I just started couponing in November due to furlough days at work. My husband can see the money we are saving and he is now helping me cut coupons! I am so thankful for you and your website. I always look here first.

    LOL – you know what cracks me up? 24hourfitness cancelled my order this morning but I just got email from ebates now telling me I got 4% cashback on that order. Wonder if ebates will retract that?

    The fabulous deals far outweigh those deals that don’t pan out. Some people just like to complain. On to more wonderful money saving opportunities. Collin, thank you for all of your hard work. I know my family greatly appreciates all of the savings.

    I actually have respect for Shoplet. Unlike Onestopplus, who didn’t have the courtesy to even notify anyone, and then lied about a “letter” they sent out, (which I never received, although I did receive a solicitation for a credit card), they notified us going in. I did email them, and below is the response I received (note the use of the word “earn your business”) I knew going in that this deal was too good to be true, yet we tried to get it anyway, who are we to complain if it doesn’t pan out?

    “While we understand your frustration, and it is unfortunate that there was a listing error that resulted in your order having to be canceled, our actions are consistent with and follow the Conditions of Use contained on Amazon’s web site. The provisions provide that if there is a pricing error (and the price is higher) on an Amazon sold item, Amazon reserves the right to cancel the order. We have followed the guidelines that Amazon sets for orders that it fulfills as the merchant seller”

    Again – we apologize for this situation and hope to earn your business in the future

    If the oppurtunity presents itself, I will shop at Shoplet.

      One Stop Plus canceled on me, too. After a month I called and the customer service person told me that there had been over 50,000 orders (this doesn’t seem possible) to One Stop Plus that they did not fulfill because it was all for free merchandise.

        The blanket was $1.99 – if 50,000 people ordered it, they turned down $99,500 in sales? Unbeleivable!

    Did anyone else have problems with ebates and shopathome? I ordered hundreds of dollars through them this holiday season and with the exception of The Body Shop, NONE of the rebates have posted to my accounts!

      I use Mr. Rebates and love it. This Christmas I used it and got $45 back, and have gotten over 100 in the past (and they send checks or paypal which I love).

    My 24hourfitness order was not cancelled, but I think it was because I got some fitness bars which were 13.99, so my order was for more than the $10 code. That seems to be the issue. Only $3.99 for 12 bars is great!

      I got the same thing but they cancelled mine. I thought I’d have more of a chance since I paid something. But, it doesn’t really matter..I didn’t really need any of this stuff so I saved some money : )

    When you read about all the “hip deals from 2010”, I would say Colin does a pretty darn good job of posting wonderful deals. Yea, some don’t work out but the number that do work out are wonderful!

    I ordered the computer paper but I still have a closet full of paper from last August that I’m still working on so maybe I did not need the paper after all.

    I got all the baby wipes that was posted a couple weeks ago and the diaper deal posted last week. I am happy with what I have gotten that was posted on HTS.

    Thank you Colin and I am happy to “worship” your blog any day!!!!

    I didn’t try out this deal, and haven’t bought much lately since my stockpile is pretty good right now. However, I see a “Jay” posting all these negative comments about this site and Collin. I think it’s awesome how so many of you are sticking up for Collin because she DOES do such an awesome job. And although I agree that “Jay” needs to leave and find his or her own deals, I also believe “Jay” is just trolling around and is thriving off the fact that he or she is getting so many people all worked up. I think it would be best to ignore those comments altogether. Collin knows she’s doing a good job, otherwise she wouldn’t have so many followers and her blog would have been shut down a looong time ago. And although I’m sure she appreciates that so many people are sticking up for her, I’m also sure she’s not taking all these comments to heart, especially because she knows how many devoted followers she has. We should just ignore the trolls, they are only doing it for attention and when you give it to them, they’re winning.

    Thank you Collin for all you do. With the economy as bad as it is, we all should be pinching our pennys wisely and be grateful for every dime we save! On another note ~ has Amazon NOT sent a cancellation email to anyone? I have not received one as of this morning and my account looks as though it is still being charged the $6.07…is anyone else experiencing this?

      Mine is pending, but I received 2 emails, one from onestop and one from Amazon – Keep an eye to make sure your pending charge doesn’t become an actual charge, but it does take a couple days to “drop off”.

      I received the cancellation notice from Amazon and it states that my credit card was not charged. I just checked my account and it was charged, so I emailed them, so we will see.

    I received a confirmation email saying that it was shipped. I kept waiting for a cancelation email, but maybe it will go through? Did anyone else get this with the paper?

    My bank card was charged and I received an email saying my item shipped on the 13th. I will receive between the 20th – 27th.
    So we will see.
