After learning about Ava Anderson’s non-toxic hair care products, I thought it would be interesting to check out the ingredients on the label of my “No Name” shampoo using the Cosmetics Database found here. Yikes! My regular shampoo consisted of a long list of chemicals whose names I can’t pronounce or spell. Then I did the same with my kiddos’ baby shampoo…I was surprised to find that even seemingly harmless baby shampoo is loaded with toxins.

With that being said, I was very excited to have the opportunity to use Ava Anderson hair products! I really liked the fact that the shampoo and conditioner were designed to repair and beautify my hair with organic aloe vera juice, instead of water…it left my hair feeling healthy and strong (and I can definitely use all the help I can get as I was not blessed with great hair…thanks mom 😉 ). In addition to hair care, Ava Anderson offers a full line of non-toxic personal care products ranging from skin care to cosmetics and, most recently, body care. They are safe and healthy and perfect for every member of the family.

Thanks to Sandi, an Ava Anderson Independent Consultant, three readers will win the Ava Shampoo and Conditioner Set ($35+Value)! Even if you are not a winner, Sandi will send you a Kabuki Brush for FREE and you’ll snag FREE shipping if you place an order of $100 or more by February 28th (just mention that you are a Hip2Save reader when you place your order).

It’s a shame what’s in the products we use (and the foods we eat for that matter). how did we ever survive without sodium lareauth sulfate (*sarcastically*)?

    • Sandi

It is very scary what is in our products.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Cosmetics Database. Bit of warning on organics…just because it says “organic” does not mean it is free of harmful toxins and many organics are just as bad as your non-organic products. I use very little makeup, perfume and hair products because of all the toxins. I see a lot of people going green with house cleaning products but then load their body down with toxins…it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Baby products are the worst as Collin mentions!!! Just my two cents worth and I’m sure many will disagree and that is fine.

    • Margie

I agree completely…that’s why I go without make-up as well. That way I can never be caught running a “quick” errand without any make-up! 🙂

Pure and natural is always better. I make my own soap and you would not believe how soft and smooth it leaves your skin. Store bought soap always leaves my skin really dry.

Thanks for the giveway… good luck everyone!!

heads up on the cosmetic database…. please read how they rate the ingredients….don’t just look at the # rating, but the data gap. just because it scored 0, doesn’t necessarily mean it is safe, if the data gap is 100% then no research has been done on that ingredient.

Wow. Very interesting & as a mom of a teenage daughter who uses LOTS of products, I should always keep this in mind.

Ava is now 17, she was 14 when she started doing resesarch.

    Sounds awesome!

If you have a Trader Joe’s nearby, their $3 shampoo is pretty good.

  11. Janine Sanchez

Do these products help aging skin to look more youthful?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

They have anti aging ingredients yes
