Heather, a reader, emailed about finding the 6 pack of Air Heads on sale at her local Walgreens for $0.69! She said they were not marked at this price but did in fact ring up this way. Plus, she used the $0.50/1 coupon found in the 2/6 SS to score a 6 pack for just $0.19! So next time you’re at Walgreens, it may be worth doing a price check on these.

Update on L'Oreal Youth Code Rebate

This Hip2Save.com Deal was hand-posted on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011 at 2:09 pm.

If you have recently purchased the L’Oreal Youth Code Rebate at Rite Aid (or elsewhere) for $29.99, you’ll be excited to learn that this purchase should qualify for the Youth Code rebate (despite the fact that it is 1¢ below the minimum rebate purchase requirement of $30).  Yippee! I personally called 1-877-322-8355 (the number listed the on the rebate form) and spoke with a customer service representative who stated that they are just waiting for confirmation from L’Oreal that this $29.99 kit will be accepted. The representative stated that she does not foresee any problems…YEAH!

If you have yet to purchase a kit, here is a reminder of the Rite Aid deal scenario…

Buy one L’Oreal Youth Code Kit $29.99
Use the $10/1 Rite Aid Video Values coupon
Use the $3/1 L’Oreal Skincare coupon found in the 2/20 RP
Pay $16.99
Get back a $5 Single Check Rebate #10
Plus, get back 2 $5 +Up Rewards (for buying $30+)
And submit for the $10 rebate
Final cost FREE + a $8.01 moneymaker!

4 Tips to be a "Hip" Costco Shopper

This Hip2Save.com Deal was hand-posted on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011 at 12:03 pm.

Despite the fact that manufacturer’s coupons are not accepted and that you have to buy bulk quantities, I still love to head to Costco once a month or so to check out all their new products. In addition to snagging their delicious hot dogs and a soda for only $1.50, my kids, hubby, and I love to check out their new clothes and kitchen items, browse the produce and meat departments and meander the aisles grabbing samples, etc. For this reason, I was excited to learn about some “secret” tips to be a savvy Costco shopper.

(Photo Credit: Secret Codes Will Save You Money at Costco)

* Scour the aisles for items whose sale price ends in 97¢ (regularly priced items usually have a sale price that ends in 99¢). If you find an item whose price ends in 97¢, this indicates that this item did not sell as quickly as expected and Costco is trying to clear it out. In other words, this is time to buy the item (if it is something that you need/want).

(Photo Credit: Secret Codes Will Save You Money at Costco)

* You’ll also want to look for items whose sale price ends with “odd pricing” (i.e. prices that end in 79¢ or 49¢). This usually indicates that Costco got a special deal from the manufacturer and typically means that these items are competitively priced in comparison to other stores.

(Photo Credit: Secret Codes Will Save You Money at Costco)

* In addition to the price, be sure to look for a * on the upper right corner of the display sign. If you see a *, it indicates that the item is not being reordered (i.e. once the current stock has been sold, it will not be replaced). In other words, if you have been eying this item for a while, now is the time to snatch it up as you will not likely have another opportunity. Keep in mind that a * only indicates that the item will not be re-ordered…it does not necessarily mean that the item is marked down from the original sale price.

* Finally, keep your eyes peeled for those instant rebates that are deducted automatically at checkout (some states are even offering special energy rebates when you purchase fluorescent bulbs).

So…how about you? Do you have any great tips to share or any secrets (we promise not to tell ;) )?!

(Thanks to the article Secret Codes Will Save You Money at Costco by Len Rapoport for this great information and for the pictures above! And thanks to reader Ashley for emailing me about this article!)

CVS: Reader's Clearance finds & Other Bargains

This Hip2Save.com Deal was hand-posted on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011 at 10:32 am.

I’ve received a few emails from readers recently regarding some additional deals you may be able to score at CVS this week…

I received a $5 off any Nexxus from the magic coupon machine. I also had a $3 off manufacturers from some samples they had sent me (through one of your links) awhile back. I was about to purchase some shampoo which was $6.29 but I have tons of shampoo at home so I wasn’t that excited. Then I noticed that right above the Nexxus products where lots of Nexxus brand brushes. A bunch of them were on clearance. I saw one for $7.99 and I went up to the register to stack my coupons for that brush. Then it rang up at only $4.24! I only used the store coupon and saved my manufacturer for another time since it doesn’t expire for awhile. Definitely price check the brushes even if they are priced higher.

My CVS has Coke on sale B1G1. Plus, there is a B1G1 CVS Coke coupon on cvs.com. So I actually got 4 cokes for free (by using 2 coupons). And remember, the coupon is only for caffeine free or diet.

CVS (Atlanta) has Olay Regenerist Eye Derma-pod reg price $32.99 – clearance price $3.30 AND I used $3 off P&G coupons (expires end of month).

Hi, Collin! I went into CVS today … they gave me a coupon from the machine for $1 off “any” baby wipes. Maybe you have already seen this. But our CVS store has a $1 aisle with $1 baby wipes. So with coupon, the baby wipes were free.

The Peanut Butter M&M’s 12.7 oz bags are ringing up at 99 cents at my CVS. The cashier said it rang up as Valentine clearance. These are not special valentine bags, though, and were in the regular M&M slot. They are a “10% More Free” bag. I purchased 2 yesterday and 4 today and used 3 of my $1.50 off any 2 mars coupons making it 24 cents a bag! I am not sure if this is only at my store because someone scanned something wrong or if it is a nationwide pricing.

(Thanks so much, Kelly, Ashley, Shelli, Andrea and Felicia!)
