I got a nice compliment at my Walgreens today! As the sweet gal handed me my receipt, she said “You’re a smart shopper.” Now that’s my kind of cashier!

  2. sara

Oh I want that walgreens! lol How awesome! I actually finally found the most wonderful store today. The woman was SO nice that she scanned her wags coupon for the almay deal before I could get mine out and then gladly accepted my manf coupon. YAY!

    • MommySpendsLess

That happened at the store I went to too! And I actually found 4 Reach toothbrushes. Great trip!

  3. figgymuffin

After having ANOTHER horrible expierience with Wags coupon un-friendly staff, I have sworn off all sales, no matter how attractive or lucrative at their stores. I have RR that I would rather throw away than shop there anymore. I {{{heart}}} CVS! Never a problem, courteous staff,
mine takes competitor coupons as well as manufacturer coupons, can be stacked for awesome deals….night and day difference.

    • Tonya

      Don’t toss ’em… I’ll use em! 😉

    • annie

i agree. i hate wags as well. stupid RRs , i can care less for their sales!

    • Christy G.

Oh, I agree! CVS is so much easier to shop at AND the clerk at my store will actually say “okay, and do you have this coupon for this”, etc. Love it! 🙂 They are so informed and so happy to accept my coupons! 🙂

    • Patricia

TRY using your WAGS RR at Kroger or Safeway (if you have one in your area)….my KROGER and SAFEWAY take those RR coupons because they say “Manufacturers Coupon” across the top and many times, there is a “Thank You” of some sort in the body of the RR that lists the Mfg. name.. AT ANY RATE, it is worth trying to see if a cashier at the grocery store will try running a WAGS RR as a MFG. Coupon. If they will give it a try for you, I bet the register will accept it!! You never know, mine do it.

  4. Marissa

Hello, If anyone has any extra amazon codes I would be so appreciative and they would be VERY helpful to my family. Thank you so much marissa_rostad@hotmail(dot)com

  5. Jennifer

I had a question about shopping at Wags so I thought this would be the best place to post it…Is there a certain “order” in which to get and use RRs? When I’m making my list for Wags, I’m never sure of the best order to do my transactions to minimize my OOP expenses. Is there an “across-the-board” way to do this? Do you do the first transactions with the smaller RR and work your way up to the larger ones in later transactions or vice versa or does it really even matter? I am not one to check out and keep all my RRs for the next week, etc…I want the least amount of money out of my pocket at that time. I feel like I am buying the “deals” and items with RRs but feel like sometimes my OOP expenses is more than I think it should be. I hope this all makes sense. Thanks for any advice!!

    • Kristin

I usually try to plan using my excel spreadsheet. Sometimes they fall apart because they don’t have an item, but I try to have a backup plan. I would say that every week is different and that you have to think them through. Work them different ways to see what is best. Sometimes people will work them out for you if you tell them what you are wanting to buy. One week a girl named Emily was helping people. On savingabundle.com I saw that she had a pic of what she did and broke down the transactions. I love wags. It is my favorite of the drugstores, but sometimes it can be tricky. Hope this helps.

    • GracieF

Here’s how I did it last week.
      allthosethingsilove.blogspot.com/2011/03/woo-hoo-at-walgreens-320-getting-paid.html

After consulting with Hip2Save and other sites, I had to play around with the order of transactions, and I did that at home. I also had to readjust in-store as they were out of Always pads, and something else (I cant remember now). Also the Garnier 2/$7 weren’t producing RRs, so I had to forget doing those a 2nd time. I would recommend having fillers in mind. I used the Hunts Tomato Sauce at .33

My intention was to build up the RRs towards the last transaction to get the Neurogen for the least OOP, since there was a $19.99 mail-in rebate attached. It worked out pretty well, as I’ll end up making $5 for buying $74 in product.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

My Wags here in Oregon is one of the areas using the “card” for points. I HATE it, you don’t get hardly any of the RR’s or rebates that everyone else is getting!

    • Beth

Jennifer check out wildforwags.com she does a awsome job on planning out shopping scenerios! I usally print out what she suggets and tweak it to my needs.

      • Jennifer

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!! I really appreciate it!! Love the feedback we are able to get from each other on here!!

  6. fairys5

thanks Collin and whom sent this amazing photo. It gives hope to us who seem to have nothing but nasty employees in our locations. I PRINTED THE PIC…. they say that all walgreens are to do the same on a sale so THANK YOU FOR THE EVIDENCE!!! LOL 🙂

  7. Lpmousse

This store is mine in Illinois. I have the coolest cashier, 2 great managers, and other cashiers who are taught to accept coupons correctly. The manager at my Wags says I’m his favorite customer, and I never shop without coupons. 😉 He obviously understands that they make money from coupons.

Sometimes I’ll go in on Mondays, and tell him what’s going to be popular so he can order extras for delivery later in the week. I’ve seen a couple of these types of displays at my Wags, but I just got such a kick out of this one, I had to take a picture. I spent $26.55 at Wags the other day in 2 transactions (my favorite cashier Joan always asks me how many transactions I want, and is shocked when I say “1”), and got back $24 in RR. I can use these at my local grocery store. I love it!

If you have a great cashier or manager and you get one of those surveys at the bottom of your receipt, please fill it out online, and mention their name in the comment section. They get certificates or credit towards free lunches or something, and the store gets better ratings.

What town in IL is this Walgreens? Being that WAGS started in IL it doesn’t surprise me.

      • Lpmousse

Southwest corner of Naperville & West Loop in Wheaton, IL. It’s a totally amazing store.

I can’t stand my CVS- they always have problems with coupons, hardly ever have all of the ECB items, and always give me hairy looks when I come up with coupons. I came in with a manufacturer coupon printed at Wags the other day, that says on it “Redeemable at Wags”. The woman told me she could push it through, but that it was hard to get the money from Wags. That’s bunk and baloney! It’s a manufacturer coupon! Oh well- Wags gets my business unless CVS has a great deal.

        • Liz

Is that the new one they moved across the street? Never been there, I’m on the other side of Wheaton. Maybe it’s worth the trip. . .

    • Sharon T.

The Walgreens store on Kirk Road in Batavia/Aurora is amazing. Diane and Dawn are awesome with coupons and even keep a binder under the counter for customers to use. If you have an item you normally purchase, they’ll keep track of those coupons for you and save them at the counter under your name!!! I’d avoid the Batavia Walgreen (on Wilson) like the plague, however. I’ve had horrible service every time.

      • Sarah

I agree about the one on Wilson! Randall and Oak in N. Aurora and Fabyan in Batavia are also pretty good though.

    • MQ

No wonder the picture looks so familiar. I shop there too. Everybody there is amazing. Love your site.

  8. Caroline

I am in Illinois too! WHERE in the state is this WAGS? I WILL drive for a friendly one.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I was just in Chicago and was in a very friendly WAGS that was near The Sheraton Hotel and Suites near the Niu Japanese Resturant. I dont have the street name, but it was down from the Niu Resturant that was just delicious.

  9. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I got lucky because the normal lady who works in cosmetics wasn’t there tonight and a new girl let me do the deal 4 times. I was happy, made $10 in profit after coupons and plan to use my RR at my local grocery store. I don’t care for Wag’s but this was too good a deal to pass on. I plan to go tomorrow and try my luck again. Thanks Collin for posting this deal you’re awesome!

  10. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

WOW!! That picture is amazing..very friendly and honest wags!! My 2 wags did not have sale signs posted, but I price checked the items..my cashiers were very friendly..went about 3-4 diff times this week and did the deal approx 4 times each trip..well lets just say I have $95 in RR and it was all for money maker almay make-up!! 🙂

    • Darlene

I’m curious, Lorine – what will you do with $95 in RR’s? Our grocery stores won’t take them – I have to spend the RR’s back at Walgreens. If my math is correct, you did 19 Almay transactions.

  11. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

p.s. I tried to be nice and explain the deal to the 2 female cashiers and explain how they could MAKE MONEY off buying this make=up//but they didnt get it..they said “I don’t use Almay makeup.” ..well shoot I’ve never used almay makeup either until now..now that it is free + MM I will use it AND include it in birthday/christmas gift bags!! =) At least I tried to be nice..

  12. Coupon Princess

I also found an amazing Wags yesterday in Bartlett, IL. Corner of Rte 59 and Stearns. The cashier Kate and manager Doug were truly coupon friendly and so helpful. They also had up a nice display with signs- It was awesome!

    • mel

The wags I went in in south tampa had a big flourescent green sign on the beauty counter stating “free almay eyeshadows!” and the beauty cashier said, “you know we have a coupon for that” when I put the almay on the counter, and she pulled out the spring beauty guide and took my MQ’s no problem. she was great! and totally smiled through all my 6 transactions!

  13. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I went to a local Walgreens and had a pretty bad experience tonight. I had bought an Almay product and two other items (1 of which I used a manufacturer coupon). Cashier was very impatient I used two coupons from the beauty book which he took his knife out and tore my book (fine with me …). Then I handed him my RR (2) which he told me I couldn’t use with the WAGS beauty book coupons saying I was over the item limits. 3 items, 1 manufacturer coupon and 2 store coupons/beauty book. Then he yelled at me and said he was “100% right and I was wrong”. I said, are you sure? (I really felt I was right). Then he slammed the phone next to him and called the manager. Manager comes and asked what the problem was. First thing he did was speak in another language about me saying I was trying to use 3 coupons use another two for register rewards and saying how I cannot do that. Because I spoke that second language he did, I refuted immediately back and said if you’re going to talk about me say it in English! I understand. Then I said in the other language to the Assistant Manager, I would like to explain myself. I said 1 manufacturer coupon and 2 coupons from the beauty book. The third item had no coupon. Manager said I could do that and my subtotal was enough to use the two ($2 RR that I received from the dental plackers purchase and the soap purchase this week). Begrudging scanned it and then threw my stuff at me into the bag. I was so upset yet I am not sure why I did not yell back. The only time I yelled back was when he was accusing me in another language. I felt that he knew I was right afterwards and did not even apologize!!! It’s terrible to speak about someone and assume they don’t understand when the population where I am at (bout 35-40% of us speak it!!!!).

  14. Laura

Wow, great, (surprising) photo! I have a walgreen’s question if anybody can help me. If I did the Almay deal 3 times so I have 3 different $5.00 RRs, can I use all three in one transaction on a future purchase? I am not sure if it’s possible to use more than one like RR in one transaction. Thanks so much for any help!!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Just remember each RR acts as 1 MQ each so you have to have one item per RR. HTH

    • couponlovingmommy

Yes, you can use more than 1 like RR in a transaction. Just make sure you aren’t buying more almay as it wouldn’t print an additional $5 RR. And make sure you have as many items as manufacturer coupons! 🙂

    • Lpmousse

There is a 1 manufacturer coupon or RR per item rule. So you would have to buy 3 items and not use any manufacturer coupons or buy small filler items if you did have other coupons.

      • Laura

        Thank you both so much!

        • meryl

I did read somewhere that this RR from Almay was rolling- I did not dare chance it but somebody else did and used it to buy more Almay and it still produced a RR- nice!!

  15. MamaAng

This is an amazing picture! My Wags is coupon-friendly, BUT they never pay attention to what the sales are and they never have enough stock. I can’t imagine seeing that many Almay products available. I went when the store opened on Sunday & they literally only had 2 jars of the eye makeup remover in stock. It’s ALWAYS that way – great deals, friendly cashiers, but not enough products and they almost never restock during the week. It’s frustrating!!!

  16. Pilar

I’ve given up on Wags for the RR deals…I stick with CVS yet only go (to spend) about once a month…to use up ECB’s: usually do it when I can pay with them and get the same amount back. Stressful shopping but I’m up to the challenge. I’ve found over the years that the mark up on the goods at these 2 places is so outrageous compared with Walmart and the commissary’s everyday prices that it’s easy to use coupons, pay very little oop and be done with the worry of using up the RR/ECB’s. I’m a little surprised at Wag’s employees: Get this: about 6 months ago, I was purchasing an item with RR’s and got RR’s back and the cashier was stunned. Didn’t have a clue what a RR was, how it worked, how I knew I was going to get some back…I told her the ad in the flyer tells me…she said, “oh, I don’t get the Sunday paper.” DUMMY: There’s about a million flyers right there in the store, including the counter you’re perched at all day. Oh boy. What kind of training do employees get?

  17. Lora

this deal is too good! I had sworn of Walgreens as well, however, I used a bunch of coupons last night plus the $10 in RR I had just earned and a couple manufacturer checks and got over $20 of stuff for 58 cents. Thank You!!

  18. Laurie

My wags is about as un-coupon friendly as they get and this week with the Almay deal it was awful. I called corporate AGAIN and immediately got a call back from the store manager. I told her AGAIN that I am tired of being treated like an idiot and a criminal for using coupons properly and from now on I will report this to corporate with NAMES! I told this manager that we have had this conversation many times before and then it happens all over again! Good for you Wheaton IL!. I only wish you would come over here to my store in NJ and straighten them out.

  19. Joy

I went yesterday to do the Almay deal again. The cashier told me that Walgreens has finally “caught on to this deal” and it won’t work. She said if I used the coupons, then my RR won’t print, but my RR will print if I don’t use coupons. She said Walgreens realized that they are paying us to shop on the Almay so that’s why they stopped it. I said that I was still paying out of pocket to get the eyeliner, so I didn’t get it. She just said sorry.

    • Renee

I don’t see how they can just stop doing it. It’s in their ad. We’re not taking advantage of anything, They are the ones who have it on sale for 30% off and it’s their Walgreen’s coupon book with the $2 off coupon. I’ve bought a bunch of almay this week at 3 different walgreens and haven’t had a problem at any of them.

  20. Amanda

To the person with the almay and rude cashier….the coupon in the beauty booklet states MF coupon so you needed a filler item to use all the rrs. You had 4 MF coupons and 3 items

    • Susan

Nope–you’re wrong. Just like with Rite Aid store coupons, these coupons in the special WAGS booklets may say “Manufacturer” coupon, but they are really store coupons. You can know that because they don’t scan at other stores–barcodes are totally different. You can always stack one store coupon with one manufacturer coupon on one item.

      • Sarah

Yes, but sometimes with these IVC booklets you will actually have to have an extra filler. In the past with the monthly booklets I will have equal number of items to RR/MQ’s and the register won’t take the last one. Then I throw in a caramel and the last one magically goes through! So I know what you mean Amanda.

      • amanda

the almay is considered a MF coupon. yes, some of them in the spring booklet are not, but this coupon is.

  21. Maria R

I would love to go to this walgreens to take advantage of this really good deals. I went to my walgreens in Quincy, Florida and they had the header for almay but did not have any almay cosmetics None!!! that’s a bummer!. Has anyone had anything like this happen to them? My store here really give me a hard time everytime.

  22. Rene

I think the beauty employees got word to push the deals…Two different stores told me about the deal, and gave me coupons. My closest store even told me I could do it as many times as I liked and she would ring me up seperately and had the coupons for me!
(A day earlier this same girl didn’t even know what the spring beauty book was…)

This from a normally uncooperative store!

  23. Christina

I bought this item, couldn’t find the beauty booklet so paid full price! And still no register reward came out? Three different coupons came out? What did I do wrong? I live in Las Vegas, is that why?

  24. whitney

I just went to walgreens for the almay deal. Someone had cut out the almay coupon from every beauty coupon booklet. I hate when lame people do that! I asked the very friendly lady at the beauty counter if she had anymore. She told me that the almay coupon wasn’t even working but she would take it off for me anyway! So I was able to stack both coupons. My only problem was that only one RR printed out. I am not complaining because I still made $3 but I thought it was a $5 reward for every almay item you bought. Did I have to do 2 different transactions?

  25. Denise

My WAGS Beauty cashier said that they didn’t have the Beauty booklets yet, or they were in a box. She said they weren’t effective until Sunday with the new April coupon books. I did find them at another Walgreen’s. The cashier there said she didn’t think the make-up remover was a cosmetic item. She scanned the coupon and it worked. I noticed she was paging a manager as I left, but I’m not sure if it was about that or not. It’s always a hassle at Walgreen’s.

  26. Darlene

I agree, Denise – it is always a hassle at Walgreens. My Walgreens won’t take mfg coupons on BOGO. At CVS they may limit the items you can buy – but that means more to go around. There is never a problem with coupons on BOGO items. Also CVS gives Extra Bucks with their rain checks. A few weeks ago with the Motrin PM, I went after church/lunch on Sunday – the clerk said they only had 6 and the first person took all 6 – come on Tues when we get another shipment – none came on Tuesday – come on Saturday we should get another shipment – none on Saturday – sale over! Of course the following Tuesday they had Motrin PM back on the shelf. To avoid being frustrated, I think twice before going to Walgreens.

    • Cynthia

It is highly recommended that you carry the corporate coupon policy with you. The Wags policy clearly states that coupons are accepted for BOGOs. I bought Right Guard deodorant that was BOGO at Wags. Had MQ BOGO…so got all my Right Guard Deodorant for free.

  27. Crystal

So, being the last day for this deal – I decided to stop at another Wags store and see if they carried the Almay makeup remover wipes (as pictured above), and sure enough they had two left. I asked the beauty counter cashier if she had any of the beauty guide books and she handed me one, so I was originally going to purchase just the one – then I noticed there wasn’t a tag for them at sale price, just the regular $5.99 price tag so I asked her if they were still on sale and she told me they were, when she scanned the one package it came up as buy one get one half off! so I went back and grabbed the other one, and then I noticed when she scanned the $2 off Wags coupon, it actually took off $4 – so I ended up paying $3.94 after tax for BOTH of them, and got my $5RR 🙂

  28. Cynthia

Paid $6.80 for $74.58 in merchandise…Most of that was tax…My Wags experiences are generally very positive. I’m so thankful that the associates are consumer friendly. CVS is hit-or-miss here, Though I just learned that we can shop the current week’s sales and upcoming week’s sales on Saturday at my CVS.
