There is also a Tide questionnaire similar to what is posted above within Recyclebank for an additional 25 pts for those who haven’t completed it yet. 🙂

When I log in to my account I don’t see this quiz. Do you know why I wouldn’t see it?

Collin says to sign in then click on the widget (which is the picture) above to take the quiz.

    • Denise

I didn’t see it from my account either. I clicked on the “widget” in Collin’s post and took the survey right there. When I was finished, I clicked on the “Get My Points” widget and it gave me the 25 points. After that, it showed as being complete in my account. Collin is three hours ahead of my time zone, so maybe she got the survey earlier than I did?

Too weird didn’t come up till clicked on Hip2Save’s photo. After completed then showed up on Recyclebank to take the quiz/view video there. Wow,

1). No difference n resources for cloth vs. disposable diapers.
    2). 1 gallon of wood pulp n diapers n 1961
    3). Most resources/environmental effective r n diapers during production.

    • Carol_R

Same for me. I could only do it by clicking on the Hip2Save photo.

    Thanks for the points.

Though I hate the crap the Pampers puts out trying to pretend they are environmental friendly. they make DISPOSABLE diapers for goodness sakes. Just admit that you’re an environmental disaster and stop mis-quoting things to try to show that cloth isn’t better for the environment. I don’t know how those people sleep at night making up that kind of crap and pretending it is true. Okay, vent over 😀

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Amen Sista!!

    • Carol_R

Because cloth diapers aren’t better for the environment because of the hot water, bleach, and detergent used. Plus you have 2 to 3 times more cloth diaper changes than disposable.

i bought my diapers and covers 2nd hand. i never used bleach. diapered 2 kids this way. they never mention that the disposable diapers take thousands of years to decompose in the landfill. if i threw away my cotton diapers, i think they would be decomposed within a few months in the landfill.

      • Lauren

But that’s just it, that isn’t true at all. You can get great diapers that don’t have to be changed really frequently and even if you choose to change more frequently, it isn’t garbage. Manufacture of disposable diapers is an industrial process that uses LOTS of water, chemicals and energy, like all manufacturing! Then they transport them HUGE distances to stores which generates more pollution. Then they wind up in the landfill after exposing your baby to lots of chemicals.
The study they mention was looking at carbon footprints, not environmental impact. The rest of the ‘studies’ I’ve seen that show disposables are better for the environment are put out and done by the companies that make the disposables 😉 and even then, they don’t do full life cycle analysis, they only compare disposal versus washing, not manufacture, not transport or anything else.
We wouldn’t start throwing out our underwear and using disposable underwear because companies told us over and over that it is better for us and we were wasting water washing our underwear 😉 That’s all the disposable diaper companies have been able to do over the years 😀

      • Sarah

I can not believe they are still using data from that study, funded by P & G, which has been disproved so many times (and was full of bad math). P & G are not allowed to reference that study in the UK, and have been fined by the New York City Consumer Protection Board for their misleading claims about how quickly disposable diapers compost. Independent environmental research done by Landbank Consultancy (UK), NADS, and the Sierra Club have concluded that disposable diapers use 20 times more raw materials, 3 times as much energy, and twice as much water as disposables, plus they generate 60 times more waste.

Boo on P & G and Recyclebank for this one!

Thanks for the points, Collin. I hope tons of us do this, and that you get credit for us doing it. And BTW, you can get questions wrong, and then try again. 🙂

I was able to take the quiz directly from this post. Then it asked me to sign-in to claim my points and that was it.
