Thanks Colin!!! I think I’ll try the strawberries this time:)

I dont mean to sound negative at all… please know that, but I am wondering if anyone has ordered these, and how they feel about the price vs what you get… I think it seems pretty incredibly expensive… I could make 20 x 12 pieces of fruit dipped in chocolate for less than $25 (the regular price of this) I know you are paying for a service but I have always thought the price of edible arrangements was pretty absurd. Its a nice idea, but I know I could purchase something much more useful for that money and make the treats myself, even if they dont look perfect, they would still be just as tasty and once they are in your belly what they look like doesnt much matter anymore. Just wondering what other hipsters felt about these. Thanks for posting though Collin!

These types of stores are for people who like to and CAN splurge a little. And it makes a special gift for those who are hard to shop for. For my little family on a tight budget, we have yet to shop here or for $1-$2 cupcake cookie stores, etc. But I know my mom loves to buy these kind of treats. It’s her thing and a way to treat herself.
So I agree that it’s out of my price range and I need to learn how to make treats and then buy a fun box and tissue paper to gift them in.

Personally, I wouldn’t buy Edible Arrangements because they are so pricey, but they are a nice alternative to flowers. I was buying a token thank you gift for my aunt & uncle last year and their kids said they liked flowers or Edible Arrangements – I went with flowers because you seemed to get a lot more for $70, but at least you can eat $70 worth of fruit! You can make the same argument that spending money on flowers is wasteful too, but as long as people enjoy them it’s fine. If I was making it for myself I could definitely do it cheaper, but if I was looking for a small hostess gift I think $10 worth of fruit would be perfect. I don’t think I’d ever pay $25 though!

      I agree that I wouldn’t pay $25,but I might pay $10 for the convenience 🙂

you also have to keep in mind what they spray on the fruit to keep it from browning…and the amount of fruit is wasted to cut a flower shape out of it. there are some great DIY videos on how to make these as a holiday centerpiece or a gift. a few years back they gave these away for free and I was not impressed. The fruit tasted weird

I get this deal every time it comes around….I love it! I always get 12 huge pieces of delicious chocolate dipped fruit….that I think are well worth the $10 price. I a great treat!

so less than a buck a piece- great deal IMO! every buy candy at a candy shop- waaaaay more!

I have recieved and given Edible Arrangements before, They were delicious ! They are a little pricey but make for a nice gift. I make them too, they are pretty easy.

Yes, they are a little on the expensive side but I have tried to do the same thing at home and they just do not look or taste the same. With that being said, I used them last time they had this deal for a B-day gift for step dad. He is so hard to buy for. I just attached giftcard and he LOVED it. It’s nice to splurge every once in a while IF you can afford it.

def can make things like this cheaper yourself, if you have the time and talent….same thing w/ wedding/ birthday cakes. not everyone is that talented or has that much time on their hands. my hubbie got me a spa day and had edible arrangements sent to the salon, and it was super sweet and thoughtful… but def a splurge- that was the point. they were delish- had strawberries and apples dipped in chocolate. IMO $10 is a really cheap unique gift… but I always love getting “treat foods” as gifts…. choc covered coffee beans, candies, etc. and the stuff I’ve tried to make or actually made at home never seems to look or taste quite as good.

Just a tip: I did this deal last time around and thought I’d be getting what was pictured in the ad. What I got was a box of chocolate covered strawberries and when I went to pick up the order I noticed that they had an ongoing special where you could get a box of chocolate covered strawberries for $10. Now if I had intended to give that box of chocolate covered strawberries to a strawberry lover…then no problem. What was a problem was that the intended recipient hated strawberries. SOoooo….what I would do is call your local Edible Arrangements store before you order this and see what they can do for you as to fruit variety. Some stores will likely accommodate you. I so wish I had done that before I ordered from Edible Arangements the first time.
Also, yes to the prior comments, you can make your own, but what you are largely buying is the packaging and presentation. For me, at least, the $10 deal is sort of a way to appear more generous than what I usually am, and when it comes to a gift I try to pinch the pennies A LOT. I know, I know, I am terrible.

    Does anyone know how long
these will last once you get them home?

    • Jennifer B.

I wouldn’t think they’d keep more than about two days. Ours (from the last deal like this) started to get a bit of moisture on them, even though stored in the fridge, after the second day. You should be aware that they really do need to stay refrigerated, especially with summer’s heat.

  9. Jess

I don’t think I could ever justify the cost of these, but they sure do look pretty! For about $10 I can make what they sell for $75. To make a flower arrangement, get an opaque vase or pot and put styrofoam in it. Then, dip your fruit in chocolate with a kabob stick. Arrange them in the vase how you wish. Use varying lengths of kabob sticks to give it some flair.

Edible Arrangements once had a free trial with a coupon. When I tried to redeem this coupon at our local EA store they were very haughty and said they weren’t dealing with that coupon. Since this happened I never entered the store again.

I recently ordered a 12 piece (6 banana & 6 strawberry) box for my husband as an anniversary gift and the bananas didnt look like they were going to make it through the first day so I froze them! 🙂 Although they are a bit steep at their normal price I definitely prefer this over flowers.

I LOVE edible arrangments! My boyfriend knows I’m not a flower person because I think they are a waste of money, and I’m a health food junky, so he got me these and it was a huge hit with me and the kids. $10 might seem pricey, because they are super expensive, but it does make a nice treat. How I see it, a lot of people have their little addictions like coffee, candy, ciggarettes, I gave all that crap up for health reasons, so to spend 10$ on a post work out treat (I can only eat 2-3 of the apples at a time, and the apples are the BEST!), is a nice treat that I don’t feel to guilty about.

IA. I rarely go to movies in a theater so I don’t spend money there so it’s nice to treat yourself another way.

  13. Carol_R

I’ve received Edible Arrangements before – a cookie arrangement. It was delicious and I appreciated it. Now I don’t know if I’d pay normally for one but the $10 deal is great. And to me it’s a lot better than a flower arrangement.

    • Josie

That is hilarious and so true!!!

I purchased a groupon that was the same as this deal. I gave my son’s teachers each a box and they loved it. $10 was the least I could do for each teacher after a year of hard work. I know this is not something that can be redeemed later but just throwing the idea out there that this does make a great and easy gift. Think about neighbors, co-workers, or even your postal worker who delievers the mail in this aweful heat with no ac! I am a big believer in karma and think that you should do onto others as you would have them do unto you.
I plan to split a box with my best friend while watching a free blockbuster movie!

  15. Liz

I have bought a box or two each time this deal has come around. I think it is a great buy not to mention a nice treat for yourself.

THANK YOU COLIN FOR POSTING THIS!!
