So you sign up, you pay full retail, and you get store credit for the amount of your purchase like a RR or ECB? Is that how this program works?

    • Gruffydd

Yes, Its not instant, I believe you get them every 3 months.
I THOUGHT you were able to roll them into the next batch off 100% MaxPerks items, but evidently not?
I know I have rolled my last 3 …until my husband wanted something and asked to use my Rewards.

    • Demanda

Yes, you will get a reward card that will be redeemable toward future OfficeMax purchases. The reward cards expire in 90 days.

  2. rocket

I have the same question as Steph. Anyone know?

  3. Gruffydd

I thought you were able to roll the Rewards at OfficeMax? Did that change?

  4. Cheryl A

I’ve also been able to roll them in the past, I know that with Staples you can not but I liked that I could just keep using them towards Rewards items — are we sure that this has changed?

  5. Tiffany

Ok, so you buy the item, then get 100% back in “rewards” not cash right? Meaning, basically, I must then turn around and purchase more Office Max stuff with the rewards? Is that right?

    • Tiffany

I would also like to know if they “roll”

    • Gruffydd

Yes, that is right. You get “rewards”, not cash

That’s why I’m looking for clarification on whether they have changed their policy. They used to let you roll rewards to pay for the next deal.

  6. Sherri

I have always rolled my rewards in the past without any problems.

  7. Stacy

Omg. I didn’t see Collin’s note about not using rewards to purchase new reward items until after I placed a $150 order. I just got off the phone with customer service and was assured that my rewards would continue to roll, they just don’t count as a qualified purchase towards your spend $500 get your $25 reward. lol, I’ve been rolling my rewards for over a year, I almost had a heart attack.

There is also a $50 travel promo on officemax.com if you spend $150. Promo code: TRAVEL

Plus, I think you get an additional $10 Max Rewards for every $75 you spend.

  9. Stacy

I think the $7.29 for the Sharpie pens might be a regional thing, they’re $20.49 for me in Western, NY.

    • meanied

      They’re also $20.49 in PA

Sorry guys…it looks like I misread the fine print in the terms and conditions in terms of “rolling” rewards; you can indeed use Rewards to pay for the Rewards items in the post above and you will receive rewards back for your purchases. However, the purchases made will not count towards the $25 in rewards that you earn for every $500 in qualified purchases that you make during the year. Thanks to all the readers who left comments to clarify this issue. 😀

Pens are 20.49 in Phoenix, Arizona for a 12 pack also. I do like these pens a lot however. Can you use a 10/$50 with this promo or does it just reduce how much you get back in rewards?

  12. Katie

Actually, according to the fine print you can not completely “roll” the rewards. I called customer service to verify. If, for example, the deal is to get $25 back on a case of paper, then you will indeed get $25 back in rewards regardless of how you pay. However, if the deal is a percentage back (ie 100% back on select items) then you will get only get the amount back that you paid out of pocket (after rewards and discounts). Basically, the best way to handle the program is if a deal is a rebate or a set $ amount back use up rewards and $ off coupons, and if it is a % off back in rewards pay out of pocket – sometimes it is best to split into 2 transactions to achieve this. Hope that this makes at least a little sense. 🙂

    • Michelle

I have always been able to get back 100% if that was the stated offer (even though I used rewards for the items).
