I received a coupon for a free Garnier Hair dye value $7.99. I then went to walmart to redeem it and the cashier called a manager and they had to scan it a million times and input the info by hand and it seemed no matter what it did I couldn’t redeem it. Is there anything I should do or say in order to get this coupon to work for me?
Collin says:
Make sure to bring along the Walmart corporate coupon policy as this will help if you have issues during checkout. Also, the following Walmart video and post may be helpful too:

You can also email or call corporate if you are not able to deal with the issues at the store level.

I just got back from Target. They give me hard time to use coupons . I explain but they don’t want to listen they think they right. How can I have some think to show them what it mean in the coupon.

Collin,
Thanks so much for your video. So helpful for newbies. I’ll probably mention this video series in my coupon seminar coming up.
Liana says:
Awesome job, Collin! Thank you for preaching the important difference between “per purchase” and “per transaction”!
Sarah says:
I love coupling and your website. I feel like my binder is cash in the bank and I have been there like you said first in your video. I used to be obsessed over every deal every day. Now, I just focus on what really need and just the total amount. However, I will always watch your videos. For example, I brought my binder to walmart and saved 50.00 just by using coupons. You can’t beat it.
Lady Beatrice says:
Nice-but the video freezes up and gives you a goober face!
Nancy says:
I love your videos and your site.

HELLO COLLIN, I’M NOT A COUPON NEWBIE ,BUT I ENJOY WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS. NOW I READ ONE OF YOUR POST BEFORE AND YOU SAID THAT YOU WERE NOT GOING TO USE A B1G1FREE COUPON WITH ANOTHER $OFF COUPON BECAUSE YOU WERE ALREADY GETTING 1 OF THE ITEAMS FREE. SO MY QUESTION IS WHY NOT USE IT AND DO USE A B1G1FREE COUPON PAIRED WITH A B1G1FREE SALE? IF YOU PAIR THE $OFF COUPON WITH THE B1G1FREE YOU STILL PAY SOME MONEY ON 1 ITEAM, BUT IF YOU USE THE B1G1FREE COUPON WITH THE B1G1FREE SALE YOU GET THEM BOTH FREE AND THE STORE IS GETTING THEIR MONEY BACK EITHER WAY, THAT’S JUST MY POINT OF VIEW, I LIKE BOTH WAYS.

Thanks for putting this out there. I have been couponing for 30 years and it is baby steps at first. People now have unrealistic expectations because of TLC.
I am really outraged at TLCs series because they show unethical behavior as well as stores that change their rules for the shows – and then the regular customers get mad. I now get lots of stares when I go shopping with my binder, whereas before I used to pretty much fly under the radar – I know the good cashiers and they knew that I am honest and generally organized and reasonable – so it is usually no worries. I hate it when someone sees I have a binder and is either rude to me or assumes that I will get everything for free – when I may not have organized my trip for that purpose. I just always carry my binder because you never know what you might find that is unadvertised.
You are promoting ethical couponing and I like that. And you are doing cashiers a world of good by explaining the terms.
