Walgreens Deals 9/25-10/1

This Hip2Save.com Deal was hand-posted on Saturday, September 24th, 2011 at 2:40 pm.

* If you are a newbie to Walgreens shopping, make sure to check out my Walgreens Store guide. …And if the coupon jargon below starts to confuse you, take some time to read through the Coupon Newbie section.

As most of you know, Walgreens released a corporate coupon policy a couple months ago… finally! You can view the policy here. Be sure to print a copy and bring it with you when you shop in case any issues should arise. You can also now print Walgreens Instant Value Coupons online here. *NOTE: If you can find the monthly coupon booklet in-store, save your printer ink.

Want to create your own custom printable shopping list?!
Simply click on the printer icon to the right of the post title and then follow the instructions to easily remove portions of the weekly deals that do not interest you. Then print and take with you to the store!

The walgreens in jacksonville doent give you a RR on the theraflu if you use the 2 dollar off coupon. It says you arent spending 10 dollars then.

  • Alice B says:

I didn’t get the 5RR on the theraflu either. I was told I can use only one of the $2 coupons too. :-(

  • mackyjane says:

Has anyone else have issues doing the Mentos Up2U gum deal? The IVC coupon wouldn’t work for me. I did the in-ad coupon first…do I need to do the IVC coupon first instead to make it work?

    • Jess says:

I tried it at 2 stores and they both stated that you could not use both the Walgreens October book coupon and the ad coupon….so they only let me use one or the other, and let me stack my coupon on it. Ended up being .50/pack…still not a bad deal!

    • Candice says:

Yes I had problems. They just adjusted the price to .49 cents for me.

    • Barbie says:

I noticed on my recipt that the gum was still free even tho they couldnt use the IVC. The gum is normally 1.49 each =2.98. The in-ad coupon takes off 2.00, plus the 1.00 manf coupon = FREE.

      • Anonymous says:

On my receipt, the gum was 1.49, but the in ad coupon took off only $1.00 and the manf coupon was a $1.00 so I got the gum at .49 each. The Wag Oct coupon booklet would not take and the manager was saying the coupon would not allow two WAG coupons

    • Chellsy says:

Yeah, my Walgreens was having trouble but the manager said that it was a known issue that the in-ad coupon was conflicting with the coupon booklet and that they were working on fixing it so it might work later in the week. Gonna try later!

    • Jen says:

Tried this deal this morning and the October coupon booklet coupon wasn’t working. The assistant manager called it in and said they would be working to get it fixed and it would likely be fixed some time today. They even held my 12 packs of gum behind the cosmetics counter for me until I could get back over there. The cashier and assistant manager neither one batted an eye about the fact that I was trying to use all 3 coupons. I’m hoping to stop back by in a little while to see if the system glitch is fixed.

      • Melissa R says:

Tried it today (Wednesday) and it beeped. The cashier got permission to price modify the items. Sure wish they would fix the issue so that it wouldn’t be so difficult to use their own coupon.

  • Grace says:

I looked through my weekly ad and I didn’t see the Haribo deal or the Schick deal or the Brita deal, are these national deals or regional?

  • mjc says:

I bought the men’s Schick razor, the women’s Schick razor and the women’s cartridges, used the $5 coupon, and they all gave me a $5 RR. I also received RR for both the Theraflu caplets and the tea. Great day at Walgreen’s today!

  • charmedgirl14 says:

It seems like it is hit or miss with the Schick deal. A RR did NOT print when using the $5 off coupon at the store I went to in WI. I had my transaction all ready to go when the customer in front of me tried it and it did NOT work. The manager said it was because the coupon value was the same as the RR – so the system is reading it as that since they are both MFG coupons.

  • Heather c says:

I live in central IL and both stores I tried gave the$5 rr with the schick quattro. I bought both the razor and refills, using the $5 Internet q. Good luck to you all!

  • Ariel says:

My walgreens didn’t have a single razor that was on sale on their shelves, and i was the first one there this morning. :( i hate when their shelves are empty before they even start the sale.

    • Lisa says:

Some stores start their ad the night before and a LOT of people go shopping Saturday night and WIPE out the stores. Happens in my area a lot, but luckily not this weekend. I found everything in stock at my WAGS.

  • Cristal says:

Off topic, but anyone in college station/Bryan area not find all the coupon inserts in their Houston chronicle? I went to three different places and all of them only had the red plum.

    • Angela says:

I’m in Victoria where they sell the Houston Chronicle in certain gas stations. I only found 1 with both inserts. All the others only had Smart Source. The cashier said they get 2 batches. The 1st batch is lighter than the 2nd. He figures they rush with the first and maybe don’t get all the inserts in. I don’t know, but I don’t think anyone stole inserts. The cashiers seem to watch out for that.

      • Leslie says:

        Angela -

Sometimes with the Houston Chronicle, certain areas it’s distributed to won’t get the Red Plum insert. It is usually hit-or-miss and happens without rhyme or reason. It is because there are only a limited amount of RP’s distributed to the Chronicle in the first place and they alternate what areas will get it. I don’t get it more times than not because I am near Huntsville in a little wee-wee town. There has been plenty of shady things going on with a lady stealing inserts and even papers just for the coupons so the cashier at the gas station has them behind the counter with her now – I really like that she did that.

Anyway, if I don’t get the RP in the Chronicle, I will usually look up the preview for it and see if there is anything of interest to me. If there is, I will order a set of 5 inserts off E-Bay usually to make up for not getting it. :) Hope that helps solve the mystery.

    • Amber D. says:

I am in Kemah and got both the Red Plum and Smart Source, but not the CVS insert in my Chronicle, but did get all 3 in the Galveston Daily News!

  • Ariel says:

All the thera flu also had a peelie coupon on them for $3 off any 2 thera flu products.

  • nicole says:

I had a glitch in the theraflu deal with the lipton variety. When the manager scanned the 2 in without coupons, it still didn’t generate the RR. He got another variety off the shelf and the RR printed out with no problems.

  • Denise says:

My walgreens gave me a form to fill out to receive my RR for the theraflu. I tried 2 stores here and it didn’t work in either. They told me that there is a glitch in the system and to send the form in to get my RR. I didn’t even try the razor deal at Wags…I went to my King Soopers (kroeger) and got my razors. They were on sale for $5! love me some free razors with NO headache!

    • Lauren says:

See, I don’t think it’s right for them to say we have to send in a form and request the RR. That should be something they take care of in the store. For us to wait that long to get the RR, however much or little it is, is irresponsible on their part, in my opinion.

    • irene says:

Most stores act like the cat machine has nothing to do with Wags system. But some people report their managers are able to “force” a RR. Shopping at Wags can be so hit or miss.

      • ipreferpublix says:

Walgreens is NOT like CVS. Catalinas have nothing whatsoever to do with Walgreens. Many stores have catalinas in their stores, it is a completely separate system, and run by Catalina Marketing, not Walgreens. A store can’t force a cat to print, like CVS can force an ecb.
They can try to work with you, but the common solutions a store will use are either scanning a different item and giving the customer the catalina (which they should not do, because then they’ve given you a catalina from another manufacturer, and that manufacturer will be reimbursing the store for the coupon, instead of the manufacturer that should have printed) or they will give you a gift card or cash for the difference (which is nice, but comes straight out of the store’s pocket, instead of an rr that will be reimbursed by the manufacturer); the proper course of action is to email or call Catalina marketing and provide your receipt information. Catalina is very good about sending out missing catalinas in a very reasonable amount of time.

      • Eve says:

by “force” they mean they are making a fake transaction so it prints the RR then voiding it out afterward.

It would be more accurate to say “trick” the machine instead of “force” I guess.

  • Alison says:

My theraflu printed. I bought 1 with the lipton and one of the warming kind and used 2-$2/1 copons and the RR printed no problems. I also used the $5/1 with the razor deal and RR printed with no problems!

  • melissa says:

anyone know the zip code to get the .30/1 haribo item?

  • Iriana says:

When I tried to use the deal below, I was told I could only use one of the Walgreens coupons. Can anyone clarify this for me please:-)

Mentos Up2U Gum 14 piece $0.99 with in ad coupon
Use the $1/2 coupon found in the 8/14 or 9/11 SS
Plus, use the $1/2 Walgreens coupon found in the October coupon booklet
Final cost – 2 FREE packs of gum!

  • Geena says:

A RR didnt print out for me on the Schick razors either and I only had a $4 off coupon. The guy was nice and entered it in manually on my 2nd transaction. Also my Walgreens didnt have the 5 cup Brita pitcher so they subed the 6cup for me at the same price. I also had a $7 off coupon from Recyclebank for the Brita pitcher! So it turned out being an AWESOME deal. Thanks Collin for all your hard work!!

  • Debbie says:

My Wags is awesome, but the Mentos Up2U gum deal didn’t work because the Walgreen coupon from the monthly book wouldn’t scan. My 2 fave cashiers worked for 10 minutes trying to make this deal work. I finally said, “Just charge me the .49 per pack” but they said that it should work and other customers will be expecting it to work so they better get it figured out.

  • amber b says:

The RR printed out for me on the Schick razors and I used the IP $5 coupon. I live in AZ. What a great deal! Hopefully most of you were able to take advantage of the deals!

  • Christina says:

Thanks for all you do Collin! I had no problems with the schick RR using the $5 Q, also did the zarbees deal, extra nice to find a $1 Q inside the box.

  • Dawn says:

The Theraflu and gum were glitches in the system. It wasnt user error. From what I have seen, they should be fixed now

  • Darcy says:

It really irks me that they have a sale advertised and than DO NOT even have the product in stock, i mean it is Sunday for crying out loud and they just opened like 3 hours ago. =(

  • Stephanie says:

Anyone else of the zipcode to get Haribo/Black Forest coupon to work?

  • Kelly says:

I have a question about coupon use hoping someone can help!
If I have a coupon for $1 off 2 boxes of “X” cereal, and I also have coupon for $1.50 off any fresh fruit if you buy 2 boxes of “X” cereal, can I use both coupons? It seems to me that the $1.50 coupon is for the fruit and the $1 is for the cereal so it would work, but not sure I am looking at it right. Thanks!!!

    • Steph says:

I had a similar one where you got $1.00 off eggs with the cereal purchase. I wasn’t sure if it would work, so I just tried using both coupons. The register beeped, and the cashier told me I could choose which coupon I wanted to use, but not both. You might try it, but I think that one coupon is all you’ll be able to use for that purchase.

  • Tera says:

I just went to my wags. I haven’t been there in awhile due to everything constantly being out of stock, so I attempted today.I knew they had changed their policy to one RR per offer per transaction per day. I liked this because then everyone couldn’t clear out the shelves of the same thing, but now they changed it to one RR a day and only 2 coupon transactions. I couldn’t believe it then he did try to tell me that I had to come back tomorrow to use my RR. It literally took the guy 45 min and tons of void to even ring me out right and that was only 2 transactions. I know one of the voids was my fault cuz I literally misplaced my credit card in between transactions. Yes I am blonde lol :) , but one RR a day what if I wasn’t a couponer and just walked in and bought 4 items with RR.. and limit me to transactions. I have always been a polite couponer usually steppin out of line and getting back each time to do my transactions cuz I don’t want to piss off any customers or stress out the cashier anymore. I think as long as I do that it shoul be fine. IDK couping used to ber so fun and exciting and a great way for me to save as I am a single mom. I am now recently unemployed and need couponing more then ever. I tend to pay full price for items now because everyone gives me a hard time for couponing and it has been getting worse and worse since I first started a year ago. I just don’t know what to do anymore. Anyways just had to vent, I spent a couple hours planning my transactions down to the tax (unemployed I had $13 to get things me and my family needed) and clipping and getting my coupons ready only to walk out with half of the stuff I needed and now they want me to come back tomorrow after that nightmare. I just had to vent :)

    • Leticia says:

I know how you feel. Im single mother and unemployed and clipping coupons gives me and my daughter the ability to not worry so much but with these “NEW MADE RULES” that each walgreens are inforceing it has become more and more difficult to get the regular items.. I think that this is only the begging of our nightmare! Clipping coupls was about saving money and giving your family what they needed now its about WHO has the biggest STOCKPILE.. :-(

      • Tera says:

Yeah exactly..It is really sad that people have taken it so far out there. I understand the feeling of wanting to go overboard and take everything when you get a good deal. You have to remember there are other people who want in on the same deal and unfortunately now look what that greediness had done to all the coupon policies. So we all suffer now :(

  • Tiff says:

Does anyone know if I could roll the RR from the Schick razors to get the Theraflu and vice versa? I want to spend the least oop as possible.

  • Jasmine says:

I went into my walgreen’s here in New Mexico today and the only deals that i was able to get were the Colgate optic white toothpaste and the mentos deals The Theraflu didn’t work and the Zarbee’s didn’t work either it rang up at $8.99 when the ad clearly states $5.99 with a $5.99 RR= Free. But the manager was not very helpful. I just sucked it up and paid for my theraflue and got my mentos free. I am a first time couponer and this was very discouraging it seemed pretty simple but it didn’t work for me. Maybe i will try again idk :(

    • Lolo says:

You have to get the nighttime Zarbees not the regular. HTH Also reported that some Theraflus did not work (ie the one with Lipton) Try another. I think the warming was reported as working.

  • Darcy says:

Who would i contact about my RR not printing????

  • LH says:

    Hi Collin,

There is also a $10.00 Rebate for the Brita pitcher.

  • AMY says:

The Walgreens I went to today had the regular Renu Sensitive Solution and another box that included a free travel size solution and free lenses case. Both boxes were the same price and in the same spot, above the yellow sale tag that showed the RR deal. So, of course I picked the box with the two free bonus items because I’m getting more for my money, but with this box the RR did not print. The cashier called over the manager. He was very nice and agreed that the RR should have printed, but they must not have included the UPC code for this box in the system for the RR. He gave me the $5 RR in cash back. He also said they had received notification from corporate that many of the RR from this week’s ad were not working. He was quite frustrated with his own company. If they wouldn’t have given me the RR in cash back, I was willing to just get the regular box. So just be aware if you find the Renu Sensitive with the free items included, the RR probably won’t print and you’ll have to go through what I went through to get your $5. If you don’t want to deal with all that, just get the regular box.

  • nikyy says:

Did my shopping already this week. Found I had a Finesse coupon for $1.00 off then Walgreens has a non-ad sale( $1.99 ) for the new products Free & Clear Shampoo, Conditioner, and Hairspray. THEN there is a “Try Free” rebate on each product. So use coupon get for free OR just get it for free by sending in the rebate.

Hi – has anyone had problems with the colgate toothbrush RR’s not printing? The mgr gave me a form to fill out, but I did this deal twice and I think it’s limited to one per household. Does anyone know? Thanks.

My Walgreens (So. Cal) had a bunch of Bengay products on sale for $4.99 and $5.99. I used my $5/1 Bengay MQ–scoring free Bengay.

  • lxwdhr says:

I was trying to buy some popcorn today using $1 off coupon. Somehow the machine beeped and the cashier told me I couldn’t use the coupon because it said “family size” on the coupon but the bag didn’t say “family size”!!! WTF??!!!! When I got home I read there was a small line on the coupon said “family size is from 5oz to 12oz.”

I agree with some of you. Walgreen is not a coupon-friendly store at all. At least in my area. I got rejected of using coupon almost every time the machine beeps!

    • melisam05 says:

i just tryed to price match at walmart too! and the cashier said i was not able to use the coupon because it was not family size! i came home googled what size is the family size and sure was the 10oz bag i had at the register!! thats ok im goin back tomorrow! that popcorn is sooooo goood and addicting! first time trying it and i cant stop lol

  • sophia says:

i went to walgreens today and had the worst experience , the lady on the register told me I wasn’t allowwed more than 1 item that was on sale with register rewards , she said that when it says in the ad 1 item per transaction, it actually means 1 per customer, she upset me so much, she made me return the 2 razors and the 2 maxi pads that i had , did anyone hear of a new policy change?

    • Merideth says:

I would assume this is a store policy, not corporate. I would have told that cashier she could return those items herself. I would call corporate and then I would not shop there anymore!!

  • sophia says:

hi merideth , thats what I thought, and dont worry i threw all the item on the counter and told her have fun putting them away, and I also had 10 single pencils that i wanted to use as fillers that rolled off the counter too lol

  • Amanda H says:

I have been having the best experiences at my Walgreens (SE Mich.) lately. The cashiers have been very friendly and today when one didn’t completely understand the coupon policy, the manager came up and explained it to her. Also, even if they are sold out of a sale item, they try to get more in that week (unlike my Rite Aid which doesn’t get any in until the following week!)

On a side note, if you need any filler items, my store had Disney coloring kits marked at $1.99, but they rang up .49!! I bought some to use as stocking stuffers and to meet my item/coupon limit.

  • katee says:

    just though i’d share!!!

  • Esther says:

Just thought I’d share that in the Indy area the RR DID print for the Schick deal when I used the $5 printed coupon. Also, wanted to say that I’ve had a GREAT experience with the Walgreen’s workers in my area. I am new to couponing at Walgreen’s and the RR program is still a little confusing to me but the cashiers always walk me through it and help me figure out how to do my transactions (and have lots of patience with me when I mess up and ask to return items and rering them).
