Julep Maven: $60 Worth of Nail Products Only $5 Shipped

This Hip2Save.com Deal was hand-posted on Monday, October 10th, 2011 at 2:05 pm.

If you’re a fan of Birchbox or would like to spoil yourself this month (and for many months to come?!), then you may want to check out Julep Maven. As a Julep Maven, you’ll have access to the hottest trends in nail color and the latest Mani Care and Pedi Care products – delivered right to your doorstep.

Here’s how it works…

* Head over here and take the Julep Maven Style Quiz (this should just take a few minutes). This quiz enables Julep Maven to determine which style of magazine editor you most resemble and in turn, Julep will choose the Sneak Peek Box that contains personally selected products that best compliment your look.

* Every Sneak Peek Box will feature over $40 worth of NEW, never released, trendy polish colors and cutting edge treatments. Your box will also include hits and cult favorites. However, your first intro box will contain $60 worth of products. And here’s the best part, enter the promo code INTRO5 during checkout and you’ll snag this intro box for just $5 shipped!

* Keep in mind that by signing up for this intro box, you are signing up to receive boxes on a monthly basis from Julep Maven (after this first month’s box is sent for just $5, your monthly cost will be $19.99 for $40 worth of products). You will be notified by email on the 20th of the month with a preview of the products they’ve customized for your next month’s beauty editor Box. If you are not interested in receiving that month’s box, you can opt to either skip the month (just login to ‘My Account’ by midnight PST on the 25th of the month and select “Skip the Month”) or you can choose to send your beauty editor Sneak Peek Box as a gift to a girlfriend, sister, coworker, or anyone you would like (just login to ‘My Account’ by midnight PST on the 25th of the month and select “Send My Box to a Girlfriend”).

* Julep Maven will bill your credit card on the 27th of the month and your Sneak Peek Box will be shipped that same day. You’ll need to allow 7-10 days for your box to arrive.

* If, for whatever reason, you do not want to continue to be a Julep Maven, you can cancel your membership, free of charge by calling one of the Maven Experience agents at 877.651.3292 Monday – Friday 9am-5pm PST.

I love the fact that you can cancel at anytime… after I receive the Intro Box, I am going to determine whether I am interested in continuing to pay for the monthly boxes. If not, I’ll just pick up the phone and cancel my membership.

Another added perk is the Julep Referral Program, which rewards you with a $15 Julep.com gift certificate when friends sign up to become a Julep Maven through your exclusive link.

*** IMPORTANT**: Please keep in mind that I just signed up to receive my Intro Box so it has not yet arrived at my house. For this reason, I cannot personally vouch for the quality of the items that are sent in this box. However, I thought that this was worth posting now as I am not sure how long the promo code INTRO5 will be available. If you are a current Julep Maven member, I would love for you to share your feedback in the comments below. Thanks! :D

** Please note that the links in this post are my referral links. If you don’t feel comfortable using them, feel free to go directly to Julep.com.

I was going to sign up until I noticed the site isn’t secured. :(

  • Monique says:

    Mine was 6.90?

  • Monique says:

I am very excited about this!

  • KYM says:

Where does is show what you get $60 worth of stuff? Mine is only showing 2 nail polishes and some hand scrub. Just curious if that’s it. Thanks! :)

  • Courtney says:

I really want to try this but I’m scared I may not be able to cancel after my first Box comes in. Anyone ever try this out yet?

  • I can vouch for the polish. I got some of it a few months back. I wrote about it here — http://www.drugstoredivas.net/2011/06/saturday-sample-julep-nail-polish.html — if you wanna check my review out.

The polishes run about $15 a pop, so that’s why it says it’s a $60 value but you might only be getting two polishes and a bonus item, like the comment above mentions.

  • Katie says:

Julep is an outstanding, high end salon. I’m sure you’ll have no problem canceling.

  • Kris says:

I signed up for the Birchbox when it was post here several months ago. I subscribed for the year membership. I have been VERY disappointed. I tried to cancel my subscription and they refused to do so. The representative at Birchbox suggested that I send it to someone else. Now why would I do that? I am really embarrassed for Birchbox that they have charged me for the items that they are putting in their boxes!!

    • Rebekah says:

really…..I love Birchbox!!! I do it month to month so I can cancel whenever… i know there was an incentive to sign up for the whole year but I like to be sure I can cancel when trying a new service.

    • Grace says:

Have you filled out your profile? Sometimes I don’t like the items sent to me, but occasionally you will get a stand out product (they send out full size items every few months). I have been paying month to month since March, but I am getting ready to purchase the year subscription because I love it so much! It’s so much fun. Maybe you haven’t given it enough of a chance. I remember my first couple of boxes weren’t that great, but it is fun getting a nice surprise in the mail every month. I’m sorry that the customer service doesn’t seem so great though. :/

    • julie says:

      I love birchbox..so fun…haven’t had any issues.

    • Danielle says:

I love birchbox as well! I think it is great! I am not a HUGE makeup person, so the small sizes are wonderful for me! I NEVER get bored of a product, since something new is showing up every month! Every once and a while there will be something I don’t like (a granola bar?!) but I get really excited when my pamper Danielle box appears :)

      • Kris says:

Lesson learned. It doesn’t save money to sign up for the long term discounted price if you haven’t tried out the service. I have never received a full size item. I have gotten 4 boxes so far. The items that I receive in my box are the same items I would receive if I sent for a free sample on a site. Hmmmmm???? I did fill out the profile when I signed up. I bought it for my daughter(she’s 23) as a fun thing she would get each month and she lost interest in even opening the box after the first couple came.

  • Anne says:

I was signed up for this program but cancelled after 2 months. They have some bad customer service. It took me two months to get my cancellation to stick. They made the error and I had emails to prove it but I was still stuck (literally) paying for their mistake. They also had a huge issue with their referral program. It didn’t work from day one but they still went on advertising it and didn’t notify anyone until 2 months in and they started getting all sorts of questions about when referral credits would start showing up.
The products didn’t wow me $225/year worth. The lotion I received just sort of sat on top of the skin and didn’t ever really sink in. The polish is tiny – .27 ml compared to .5ml of a normal size. If I really liked soemthing and wanted to purchase for a friend even after the Maven discount it is still $11.20 which works out to $20 more per oz than Chanel or $27.80 more than OPI. The tiny bottles are also awkward to use, tall and skinny and prone to toppling over.
I would also hesitate to compare it to Birchbox. Birchbox provides products from several brands while this is all from one company. Birchbox gives you a chance to try many different things while Maven you only get products from one brand, you pretty much know after one month if the brand is for you.

I can discount the customer services issues as growing pains but for me the products just weren’t worth the annual investment.

    • Anne says:

Sorry I got ahead of myself. I meant to say as much as Chanel or $27.80 more than OPI.

    • Ann Nonymous says:

The box typically includes some type of lotion and two bottles of polish plus one of their gift bags.

The polish is great but the cancellation policy is meh. Please note that if you’re on the east coast it might take close to two weeks to receive your box. So your November box might be ready for shipment before your October box ever arrives.

If that’s the case, you might not even get to try the products before having to commit to purchasing the next month’s box.

  • Sara says:

Does anyone know if you cancel your subscription will this cancel the additional box they show they are going to mail on the 27th? Or, is this something that has to be canceled in addition to the membership?

  • Nicole says:

I just received my Intro box today! Great packaging! 2 very HIGH QUALITY colors and an exfoliator. The nail polish goes on very nicely. I am definately going to keep this subscription!
There was the cutest little note inside the box, thanking for me for my order and my name was hand-written on the letter. Its the small things that make me smile. I have faith that if I wish to cancel or pause or re-direct a shipment for a month, that they will not give any hassle.
    So please!
