When I got this app awhile back, it sucked down so much of my phone battery that I had to delete it.

    • Brian Berger

This is EXACTLY what I have experienced. I have NO other apps that drained my battery this fast. I am an Android user.

  2. Melony

does it require the stores to have wifi? I have an Ipod touch that I downloaded it onto…

    • Delilah

Yes it does require wifi. My mall has wifi so I’m able to use it in the mall. I know Macy’s just put wifi in their stores too.

  3. LaDonna

This app uses a lot a battery power on the iphone 3GS, but it’s been fun to use so far. I live about 2 miles from the mall and I collect tons of kicks daily without even leaving my house.

    • Melony

      How?

      • nwbargainsDana

You can earn Kicks from home or anywhere else, just by updating your location and clicking on the green bubble with a star in the middle. Or in the case of this week, a turkey with a star in the middle.

You also earn Kicks to Level Up by just by tapping the store name. You will notice an orange +1 next to the level bar. Those Kicks affect your level only, not your total point count.

  4. Alicia

    Love Shopkick!
Have already gotten a few Target gift cards for checking into places!

  5. Yen

If anyone wants to join shopkick please use my link skget.it/mango7588. We will both get 100 kicks for your signup. TIA

    • Samantha

How did you get that sign up link?

    • Jennifer

That didn’t match a valid promo code. Want to get your new user bonus? Ask your friend to send you their invitation link

When I use ur promo link this is what I get

  6. Laura

So far I really like Shopkick and have not noticed it affecting my battery life much. You can earn kicks without leaving your home by taking advantage of instant surprises for stores close by your house. You simply click on instant surprise, and you get 1 kick. This can be done daily.

My personal link is skget.it/cube414, if you’d like to sign up and earn us both 100 kicks.

  7. Kris

I cannot for the life of me get the kicks for entering the store (like Best Buy, etc.) What is the secret? I have the app open, stand in the entrance, and nothing. I’ve tried wifi and cell, no luck. Thanks in advance!

    • Nilya

      I have the same situation!

    • Heidi German

I think it depends on the store and if their transmitter is working. I tried today because Best Buy had 110 walk-in kicks, but I couldn’t get it to work. Come to think of it, I’ve never had any luck getting walk-ins at that particular store! But yet last weekend I was in a Best Buy in AZ and the walk-in worked just fine.

It’s seriously annoying that the walk-ins won’t work, especially when they’re for such high point values! I made a special trip to Best Buy specifically to get kicks and then it didn’t work. 🙁

    • nwbargainsDana

Only stores that display the Shopkick transmitter at the entrance are eligible for Walk Ins. I have been participating in Shopkick for quite a while & have only checked in once, on accident, while on the Freeway. BTW, I was not the driver!

  9. Dorothy

Me too how do we get it. I was at walmart turn on the app and was looking for how to check into the store? Please anyone let me know thanks

    • nwbargainsDana

From my experience, not a lot of stores have the ‘Walk in’ transponder. I have never found one, but I do not live in a large city.

To ‘Sign In’ you tap the upper left of your Shopkick screen {where the light blue “cross walk” looking person/symbol appears } when you are at the entrance of a store that displays the Shopkick transponder.

I am a ShopKick Elite member & would also love it if you would like to sign up under me 🙂 my link is: skget.it/eggplant17762

We will both receive 100 Shopkicks after you join!

  10. melissa

I will have to give this a try…thanks Collin!

  11. Dawn

Today was day one with shopkick. Yesterday I couldn’t get the friend promo code to work so I was unable to get the 100 kicks for joining. Today I tried Toys r us and was able to find one of the three items and scan for kicks. It did work! Yay…..then I went to Target where I had major trouble. Nothing would scan. Oh well! What are u gonna do? This is my link if anyone would like to use it! Line592

    Happy Shopping!

  12. rebecca

Does anyone know how this compares to Checkpoints? I have been using that for almost a month and have gotten one $10 Amazon gc and I’m already half way to a second. Is it hard to rack up points and does it require a lot of points for rewards? TIA! 😀

  13. Dawn

I’ve been using it for awhile it is easy and so far every thing has scanned great. But I do have problems getting the kicks for walk ins. They have great customer service though. Now if I could just remember to use the app. My sign up link is skget.it/legume8366

  14. dani

Thanks for the gift card Collin! Now I just have to get to Walmart today, that could be a problem. I am anti crazy shoppers! 🙂 Just a thought for anyone who may forget to use or check in with shopkicks, you could set your reminder app on the iphone. It will alert you when you are near a location, I have a reminder set for a local bookstore and every time I drive past it sounds an alarm and gives me a message to look for a specific book for the hubby. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  15. thefrugalette

I’m beyond frustrated with this app. Ive walked into Old navy back and forth 5 times and it couldnt find me. I emailed them, and never heard back. I was in another Old navy store, different location and again it couldnt find me when I entered, I looked ridiculous going in and out the store. loool

  16. missvp

I just downloaded the app, let’s see how good it works on Black Friday, if anyone wants a referral link, here’s mine:

    skget.it/pleasanton688

    thanks!

  17. Paulina

I have not received the text messages to download the app and all, does it take a long time? 🙁

  18. Cindy

Anyone know how kicks it takes to get a gift card?

    • Lorri

I wonder how you get the gift card as well.

  19. Alicia

Sometimes it’s the connection with the internet thats the problem. I know randomly at old navy I will have a problem checking in and other times it’s super easy. I usually just refresh a couple of times and it works just fine.
If you need a referral link mine is skget.it/pigeon8925

  20. sarah

i already have the app can i send some one that has the app also an invite or do they have to be first timers to the app?

  21. Crystal

I just read an article about shopkick and the transmitters at the entrance are only in about 80 cities at the moment. Unless you live in a major city you won’t get walk in points. It’s still a great app because you can still do the scans and as quick as this is catching on I’m sure they will constantly be adding cities.
