If you are wondering what to do with coconut oil, make sure to check out my first Cooking with Collin post! Also, you may want to check out this yummy recipe for Coconut Bars.  These bars would be perfect to take to a get-together, serve at your Super Bowl party, or would simply make a healthy afternoon snack!

Also, as I mentioned on Facebook, I have starting eating a Paleo/Primal diet, which basically means I have cut out all grains and sugar. I have been eating a ton more veggies, fruits, fish, chicken, meat and LOTS of nuts. I feel fantastic and so energized! I also have been incorporating more Coconut oil and Coconut milk into my diet! Love it! 🙂

is this a better price then you would get at like Whole foods? Ive wanted to pick up coconut oil for my hair/skin latley, I’ve read how great it is for your body! (and the coconut bars sound delish 🙂 ) but I don’t know what the “going rate” is 🙂

    • jenypher

I haven’t seen this brand before but the cheapest I’ve seen at Whole Foods is $9 for the same size jar. 🙂

  2. cdawnt

15 oz at Sam’s Club would cost me $29.88 plus tax and 29 oz is $37.88 plus tax. So I think $6.08 is a good price. I placed my order. 🙂

Although this is an awesome deal to be shipped to your house, just an FYI that Trader Joe’s has it for 5.99 each . . . I think it *may* be in a bigger jar too!

    • Danielle

apparently hip2savers got to trader joes before me!!! HUGE shelf of coconut oil EMPTY, haha. but you are right! it was 5.99 for like a 16 oz jar I think? I was a little short to see, but I am pretty sure it was bigger 🙂 I’ll have to check the other one tomorrow!

      • Jen

Yes, I was just going to post! $5.99 for a 16 oz jar @ TJ’s!

        • Danielle

Jen, did you buy up all of it from my TJ’s?! 🙂 🙂 haha.

15 oz at Sam’s Club would cost me $29.88 plus tax and 29 oz would cost $37.88 plus tax so I think this is a good deal at Amazon. I got my order in. I love coconut oil! Thank you! 🙂

    • cdawnt

Sorry, didn’t mean to post twice, I got an error and re-submitted. Too bad I don’t have a Trader Joe’s, but $6.08 is still a great deal and no tax.

  6. Blair

Great! I need this to make homemade lip balm!

    • cara

how do u make it? thx

  7. jill

I have to ask, Collin, are you still drinking coffee?

    • Alyssa

That’s the first thing I thought of when I read this post too! haha we all know how much Collin loves her coffee 😉

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Yep… that’s something I just can’t give up! 😀

My Mom actually started using coconut oil and giving it to my grandma with severe all timers and it helped her so much that she was able to tell me where she lived, how to get there, and then gave me a hug and said goodbye. She never know where she lives or where her house is. Any time that she would go to her house she would cry that it wasn’t her home.

  9. Alisha

Great timing, I noticed I was running low on coconut oil this morning.
I’ve been eating Paleo for a few years now, and I can’t wait to hear your recipes and insight.

  10. Charlotte

Thanks! I just started Atkins, and I head raves about coconut oil! Can’t wait to try it!

    • midget

I can say from experience that it didn’t help my mother. Neither did the medical food – Axona – that contains the ketones (but without all the saturated fat in coconut oil).

    • Becky Buckles Derrickson

I was completely amazed at how it helped my grandma and she has very severe all timers.

on a side note my hubby’s work has a popcorn machine and they use coconut oil in it to make the pop corn.

  11. Lana

Just ordered some! Heard so many great things about it, very excited to try it 😀 Thanx Collin!!

  12. Julie@teachinggoodeaters

I’ve been hearing more and more about paleo lately. I look forward to hearing how it goes for you! Thanks for sharing the coconut bars recipe. They look delicious! I’ve been using almond flour/ coconut milk/ and coconut oil lately so I have what I need (though I’ll probably leave out the coconut flour since I don’t have that) I’ll have to see how it goes!

  13. Tammy

Just FYI for anyone that uses a lot of this the 2 pack 54 oz comes out cheaper per oz

you get 2 54 oz containers after subscribe and save for $37.35 which is only $.35 oz where the smaller container is $.41 per oz

  14. Sarah

I am thrilled that you are eating Paleo/Primal. I’ve been doing this for about a month and am really enjoying it so far!! I still have mild panic attacks when I buy Almond Flour though!

    • Cheryl

Same here. My husband and I started eating Paleo at the beginning of the year. We have been eating from the book Everyday Paleo, great recipes. But, Almond Flour is $10 a bag!!

  15. Annie

Yay for going Paleo. I follow NomNomPaleo.com ‘s blog because her recipes and eats alone would make me want to try Paleo. :]

  16. bree

I’ve never tried coconut oil before. Nervous about how to use it all, but excited 🙂

    • Irene

It also makes a great lubricant. My husband & I started using it last year for that and it’s really wonderful.

  17. Val

I don’t think you need to diet at all, you look awesome.

  18. Amy

So excited you are doing paleo/primal! I have been paleo for 14 months now, started as a 30 day challenge and I haven’t looked back yet! I have never felt so great! Paleo isn’t a diet, its a lifestyle!

  19. machelle

This is good news you have started eating paleo. You might be looking for awesome deals on coconut and almond flour and will post them for us! I have also started eating primal/paleo! Love it. It is more expensive but well worth It~!

  20. Brittany

Love this! I bought it a few weeks ago and I eat it on almost everything. I actually had horrible acid and tums weren’t working. I read that oils are highly alkaline so I took a teaspoon and let it melt in my mouth and swallowed it. My acid went away a few minutes later.

I also use it for the ends of my hair when they are dry, lip balm and lubricant. Not to offer tmi but it is really good to use with the hubby because it tastes so good and melts like butter.

  21. Debi

Coconut oil is also really great for your HAIR! I have frizzy dry colored curly hair. I use it once a week and it is fantastic! I just smooth it on in hte shower…then wash it out before bed. I also teach little kids to swim and use it on my hair under my swim cap in hte pool (4 hours a day!) It’s fantastic!

  22. Melissa

I am so glad you posted this deal, I was recently diagnosed with the oh so lovely condition of eczema and have been pretty frustrated with the lack of helpful options to try and sooth the flare ups and was recently recomended a natural remedy of 1/2 organic coconut oil and half 100% shea butter lotion. So greatful to have gotten such a great deal on this half of the ingredients 🙂 Thanks Collin! now I just have to keep an eye out for a deal on the shae butter , any recomendations anyone?

  23. sarah

I love this brand of coconut oil! I’m excited that you have started the paleo diet! I started eating paleo in November and have found it difficult to keep my food budget under control but I have never felt better! Hoping you can find some sweet paleo deals for us!
