If you missed out on the Purex Triple Action sample I posted previously, you can hurry on over here to score a FREE Purex UltraPacks Detergent sample! Keep in mind that this is only for those of you who didn’t request a Purex sample previously.
(Thanks, Ideal Couponing!)
It will also let you print out a 0.75 coupon if you choose to not wait for the sample. These are on sale at Kroger this week for 3.29, so it’s not the best deal in the world but I am getting these for my mom because she refuses to use the measuring cap on laundry detergent so she goes through a huge jug of laundry detergent every week…I did an experiment and bought her some of the Purex 3 in 1 sheets ( a 22 pack I think), and it lasted her 3 weeks!!! I knew she was using too much detergent but she wouldn’t listen! So even though this will cost 2.54, it’s still a good value for her because they will last way longer!
Hey Kat. Here is the recipe I use for the homemade laundry detergent. your mom might like it since she uses a lot.
2 bars fels naptha soap, grated
2 cups arm and hammer washing soda
2 cups borax laundry booster
Dissolve soap in 4 quarts boiling water. Add washing soda and 2 more quarts boiling water. Mix until dissolved. Add borax and 2 more quarts boiling water. Stir to dissolve. Add 4 more quarts hot water. Mix well. All ingredients should now be dissolved. Allow to sit overnight and turn to gel. After 24 hours mix well with a mixer. This will look like custard or mashed potatoes. Transfer to 12 quart jars.
When ready to use, Mix 1 jar detergent with 2 jars water in an old detergent bottle you have left over. Use with the measuring lid on the bottle.
I use an old Xtra detergent bottle. The one with the bigger lid.
I have seen other recipes that say to use this deterg full strength and some that say use only 1 jar of water. You can try it all the ways and see what works for you. I use 2 jars of water and 1 jar of deterg and it works great. There is NO fragrance. You can add essential oil if you need fragrance or be like me and use some fabric softener. I use full strength for really tough stains.
Thanks! How much does it cost to make this?
I opted to wait for the sample with hopes that they would also send a coupon.
Same here. I ordered the sample hoping there would be a coupon with it.
