Ok, this has nothing to do with CVS, but another couponing question.

I am going to do a deal at Martin’s this week and I have a question about using a B2G1 coupon with additional cents off coupons. Here’s what I have so far:

    1 Kashi cereal $3
    2 Kashi bars @ $3 each
    2 Kashi crackers @ $2.50 each
Use 1 Buy 2 bars, get 1 cereal free
    Use $2/1 recyclebank coupon
    Use $1/1 cracker coupon
Pay $8, Receive $5 CAT for buying 5 Kashi items.

However, I was wondering if I could apply the $2/1 recyclebank coupon towards the bars and use 2 $1/1 coupons for the crackers. Since the b2g1 coupon is applied towards the cereal, can I appy a coupon to each of the boxes of bars?

Also, even though the coupon is b2g1, I’ll still have 5 items count towards that requirement, right?

I’ve been couponing for awhile, but this transaction has me kind of nervous!

    • Ashley57

Collin has said in previous videos that she does not advocate using a B1G1 (or a variation of such) with another cents off coupon. IMO, the first transaction you list is accurate, and you cannot use another $1/1 cracker coupon. You can try it if you want and see what happens.

    • brooke

the coupon you are using (b2g1) is to get the CEREAL free, therefore, you can use another cents-off coupon on anything else besides the cereal. hope that helps!!

      • Laura

I thought I could – I’ve seen deals on other blogs that do this, but then searching around it seems that everyone has a different opinion.
So my new transaction should look like this:
        1 Kashi cereal $3
        2 Kashi bars @ $3 each
        2 Kashi crackers @ $2.50 each
Use 1 Buy 2 bars, get 1 cereal free
        Use 2 $2/1 recyclebank coupon
        Use 2 $1/1 cracker coupon
Pay $5, Receive $5 CAT for buying 5 Kashi items.

        Right?

        • amhale11

Does the coupon policy for that store say anything about that? I’m not familiar with Martin’s. I would probably try it anyway to see if it works lol!

  2. Ashley57

Yay! This is a great week for me. Feel like its been pretty slow at CVS lately.

  3. Jenn

There is usually a great deal on Gillette razors or the cartridges and i haven’t seen any deals in a while. Am I missing something??? I know this week is for the disposables but they break my man out. Help please!

    • AG

It’s because P&G hasn’t released a new razor in a while. This is how they do things: new product = high value coupon. The longer the item is on the market, the smaller the coupon values get. 🙁 Every now and then they release a higher-value coupon but it hasn’t happened lately.

    • Zelene

i got a p&G booklet of high value coupons in the magaizine collin had up at one time EBONY i think it has a $5.00 for gillette

      • Dawn

Yes, there was a $5 coupon in the Ebony magazine. 🙂

  4. Michelle

so glad I have my .55 cents of diet pepsi coupon still this will be a good buy!

  5. Maria Day

I don’t see how how the b1g 1 free works on top of another coupon, if Im understanding correctly. It won’t fly. I tried it once when I was a newbie and it really makes sense now to me why it doesn’t work.

However in your case Laura although confusing at first, it seems right except for one thing wouldn’t the outcome financially be the same? Why change it then? Is it for the gain of an extra free bar?

    • tracy

I think it will depend on if it was a store coupon or not, you can’t use 2 mq coupons for the same item, even when it lists 3 items, or free items.

  6. Cort

On the Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale on olay, the picture shows Olay total effects cleanser (if included) with the sale you could use the $3.00 off total effects coupon, and online they are priced around $10 so $11 for 3 Olay cleansers.

  7. gg

Collin-do U know if easter candy will be 75% off-my cvs had bags of Twizzler (sm. individual packs) would be good for pinatas-no easter packaging!

  8. Ashley

Some people are commenting on other blogs that you can’t use the wisk coupon so I called my CVS and spoke to the store manager (I think he is use to me calling he knows my name )=) anyway, he said that YES he will accept it since it’s essentially a large scale “bogo” So maybe this is one of those up to your store things. Just thought I’d bring that up if someone was looking to get in on that deal. Call your store or ask your manager if they are going to allow it as well.

Thanks for the match ups collin! I love that you do them so early now I can search through them before work!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Hi Ashley!
You should be able to use the Wisk coupon according to CVS’s updated coupon policy allowing a coupon on a “free” items during a store sale 🙂 Also, according to CVS.com, the 32 loads = 50 oz for the Wisk 🙂

  9. Shawn

This is my scenario for the free Wisk (plus one other item).

    (1) $3.99 Depend Silhouette or Real Fit 3ct
    -(2)$2 (one CVS, one Manufacturer)
    =Free + $2 ECB

(2)$.89 Ajax Dish Liquid 16oz (=$1.78 before coupons)
-(2)$.50 (from paper, some have $1/2 instead)
    $.78/2

    (2) $6.99 Scott Bathroom tissue 12-18pk (=$13.98 before coupons)
    -(2)$1/1 (from paper)
    =$11.98

    (1)$5 8pk Sparkle paper towels
    =$5

    (1) Wisk 32 load
-$2/1 (from paper, would need to be 45oz+ to use)

$24.75 before coupons, $20.76 of which qualifies toward free Wisk.
    $15.76 after coupons
    Minus $3/$15 CVS emailed coupon
    =12.76
    Using $7.50 in ECBs
    =$5.26, get $2 ECB =$3.26 total.

    • Elizabeth

I don’t think it’s really fair to subtract both the EB you get and the EB you use from your cost. Either it should be $10.76 when you subtract the ones you get, or $5.26 when you subtract the ones you used. When you do both you essentially count every EB double – once when you get it and once when you use it

      • Shawn

I have absolutely no idea what you mean. I’m PAYING with $7.50 ECBS that I already have. I’m GETTING $2 ECBS…how is that not fair to count in there? I’m paying $5.26 out of pocket, straight up. I’m leaving with $2 ECBS. That’s ‘like’ paying $3.26. I’m not paying with the $2 ECBS I’m getting on my receipt?

        • Michelle

What she means is that if you take the $2 ECBS off this transaction to make it $3.26 and then next week you go in and use it and subtract it off your total again (like you are doing with the $7.50 this week) you are counting every ECB you get twice, once when you receive it and once when you redeem it. So you would be subtracting off $4 worth of ECB (once this week and one when you use it) for an ECB that’s only $2. This is artificially increasing the number of $$$ you save.

          • Brittany

Yes, in accounting they would call this double dipping… you can only count money that you use once. I count my ECB’s towards my next transaction when I actually use them. This way I can actually keep track of how much I’m spending and saving. HTH 🙂

        • Mommyspendsless

Generally, you need to count the ECBs either when they’re earned or when they’re spent. Otherwise you run the risk of accidently counting them twice. For example:
          Transaction 1: Buy 1 widget, spend $10 oop, get 8ecb = $2
          Transaction 2: Buy 1 thingamajig, $15 – 8ecb, get 6ecb = $2
          Transaction 3: Buy 1 doodad, $10 – 6ecb, get 2ecb = $2
It looks like you spent just $6 and have 2ecb left for transaction4
          The reality is that
          Transaction 1: $10 oop, get 8ecb = $10oop
          Transaction 2: $15 – 8ecb, get 6ecb = $7oop
          Transaction 3: $10 – 6ecb, get 2ecb = $4oop
You actually spent $21 and have 2ecb left for transaction 4.

  10. john

Pepcid AC out of prints at CVS.com?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn…it was there yesterday but looks like it’s now gone 🙁

  11. Michelle

The ad on iheartcvs shows the Pepsi 12 packs as “buy 3 at $12 get 1 free”, which would make it $3 each. Maybe there is some regional variation in the deal?

    • Jenny

I’ve noticed that pop can vary quite I bit. I’ve seen the add on Collin’s site for 4/$10 when my in 3/$11. If if you go to CVS.com/ click on the Weekly Store Adds/ then next to the current weeks add there will be a link for “Upcoming Weeks Add” that way you can see what the deal are at your store. CVS always post next weeks adds the Thurs.

      • Michelle

Thanks for the tip! I didn’t realize they posted it early.

      • Jenifer

I love that you call it ‘pop’! Down here in L.A. (lower Alabama) we call everything coke!

        • Jenny

Jennifer, we also call it soda or soda pop. I love how down south you get “Coke Coke” or “Pepsi Coke.” And in the UK its fizzy drinks.

        • Lisa

Yes, growing up in the south we called everything COKE….it used to be when you ordered a drink you ordered a COKE and the waitress would say what kind….the good ol days….I really love the cokes in the little bottle

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yes, looks like this deal will vary by region, so be sure to check your local ad

  12. Joy

what is the spring inventing you CVS?

    • Julie

It is a magazine CVS sells for $.99 and it has coupons in it. This season has Salma Hayek on the cover. HTH!

      • Tina in East Texas

Our CVS stores here (east Texas) don’t carry it. When I lived in Virginia I always got it and when I asked the CVS employees here about it, they gave me blank looks. 🙂

  13. gaynycdad

I just returned from vacation and missed this last week. It is hard to read the daily emails from hip2save when I am away because I can’t print any coupons!
    thanks for the match-ups!
    http://www.gaynycdad.com

  14. Brittany

    Thanks Collin!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re most welcome! 😀

  15. Michelle

CVS didn’t change their policy on accepting expired ECB did they? My husband said they wouldn’t take his and it was expired by less than a month. My store used to take them if they were expired up to about 3 months. hmmmm….

    • Amy

They did recently change their policy, maybe about a month or 2 ago. I didn’t even know I could do this until they told me that I couldn’t. They’re no longer accepting expired ECBs because they’re losing money out of it. That’s what I was told anyways.

      • Diane L.

My CVS used to accept them as long as they weren’t expired for more than 1 week, but about a month ago they stopped taking expired ones. The manager said they wouldn’t be reimbursed for them if they were expired.

    • Amanda

It varies by store. May just want to ask at a different store if they take them. The one I shop at most of the time doesn’t take them but one across town doesn’t care how old they are.

  16. sue

I dont understand the math on the Kraft Mac & Cheese.. It says it is $2/6 with $3ECB.. helppp

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

If you use 2 $0.75/1 coupons, you’ll pay $4.50 and get back a $3 Ecb when you buy 2. That makes them only $0.75 each! 🙂

  17. debbie

I haven’t gotten any coupons from the Magic Coupon Machine all week. I tried 3 different stores and 4 different coupon machines and they all give me the message, “No coupons today.” Anybody else have this?

    • Crystal

Yes that happened to me too! What gives?

    • Lyndi Hedgecock

mine has done this too! it is sooooo annoying! i mean 9 times out of 10 i dont use them, but i like the excitement of getting a new coupon! LOL! 🙂

    • Debora

I too have seen this — I am in Omaha, NE. I am thinking they don’t like my area much because I also do not get the emails that are mentioned.

    • Renee

This is the first time I’ve been to CVS since last Saturday and NO Coupons from Magic Machine!!!!! I live in Ohio so they must not like us either Omaha!

    • Candice

Yes this happened to me too! I thought something was wrong with my card.

    • VB

This happened to me too this week. So frustrating. I hardly ever get the “good” copuns everyone else does. But last week i got $3 of $15 babycare purchase which i was super stoked about. So i was even more disappointed not to get cpns at the cpn machine or on my receipt. Hopefully this week i will get them. Otherwise i guess i would have to call to ask what the deal is.

    • Deb

It happened tome yesterday and today at 2 different CVS’s:( So annoying!

    • amberwaves

I went 4 days in a row this week when I heard everyone was getting the $15 off Physicians Formula Q and each day I got the No coupons message. Not even a candy coupon!!

    • Britt

I work at CVS. It varies from card to card depending on the history of purchases, purchase amounts, and the frequency of purchases. Usually some sort of coupon is issued weekly (again, varying from card to card). It does not matter which CVS you go to- it all is connected back to the same system. Right now I think CVS is having a “dry spell” on coupons. It happens periodically. Give it a few weeks and you probably see a pick up in coupons as we transition into Summer. Also, Easter is still corporate wide 50% off. The big guys have come down really hard on stores varying away from schedules on mark downs and on the whole coupon policy. Please be patient with the stores, as to many people are losing their jobs over “coupon fraud” ( this is a very broad term but that is what it goes down as and it is very illegal..) but anyway, we should see more coupons in a week or two hopefully!

  18. Kimberlyk1

anyone know where the CVS pepcid Q is? Can’t find it

    • ashley

      Its all gone! 🙁

  19. Brianna

I thought the lysol rebate was only for the kitchen starter kit. I don’t have it anymore to check but thats what I used it on

    • Amy

Aren’t the coupons for the kitchen starter kit, too? Not the hand soap kit? I’m confused. Help!

    • Pamela

Yes the coupon and rebate are for the kitchen starter kit. My local CVS didn’t even carry it:-(

  20. debra

There is an osteo bi flex coupon for $3.75 on coupon network if you don’t have the $5 coupon. I also printed a $2 allegra childrens coupon this am from there to stack with the cvs q but i don’t see it now.

  21. Amy

Does anyone have the zip code for the $2/2 Right Guard? Thanks!

    • Tracey

It worked in my area, but I printed it last week…try 29303

      • Amy

        thanks, I’ll try it!

  22. Heather

Fyi… I have purchased 4 boxes of the Radiant tampons which have coupons included in the box; the 2 boxes of “Super” had $9 of coupons compared to the $5 in the “regular” boxes. It includes a $3 off 1 box of radiant tampons!!

  23. mel

just want to point out that the Pepcid coupon that was on CVS.com IS NOT a CVS store coupon, its actually a manuf coupon (with the new longer single bar code) that has the CVS logo on it. So no-go on stacking.

  24. Mika

Hey, I’m interested in finding the coupon for this deal:

Aussie or Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner 10.1-13.5 oz or styler 6-14 oz $2.99
Use the $1/2 coupon found in the 4/1 PG
    Final cost $2.49!

    What does “4/1 PG” mean?

    • Amy

It means the coupon was found in the April 1st (4/1) paper in the Proctor & Gamble (PG) insert

    • mel

4/1 is the date the insert was in the paper, PG = Proctor & Gamble.
[SS = smartsource and RP= redplum]

      • Mika

        Ohh ok, thank you ladies!

  25. Lynette Smith

Did I hear a Catalina deal on Kashi cereal going on??????

  26. Jenna

Doesn’t CVS accept competitor coupons? If so, then the wrigley’s singles could be free, because on the rite aid video values, they have a .50Q off of skittles!

    • mel

None of the CVS stores in my area accept competitor manuf coupons. Only one store pharmacy will accept competitor coupons for Gift Cards for new or transferred prescriptions.

      • Jenna

My CVS accepted the coupons! They have the electronic sign outside of the store thats states they accept competitor coupons. I had 2 coupons, (2 adperk accounts) (myself and mother) So I got 2 skittles and 2 starbursts, and paid $1 OOP and got $1ECB = free 🙂

    • Sue

I have a hard time getting them to take their own coupons never competitors, LOL– but good luck to you!

    • Jaclyn ;)

I know CVS will accept competitor coupons for Pharmacy Transfers or New Prescriptions…however the Rite Aid Video Value coupons I have never tried. I’m thinking they wouldn’t, but it’s worth a try if you are already going there! 😉

  27. mary

I am confused with the spend $20 get a free Wisk deal, i thought you had to have $20 on select products to get the free item but not count the cost of the free item towards the $20? on last week’s deal i got $30 worth of stuff not counting the free cottonelle and it rang up as free (no cost). please help!

    • mel

it does add up to $20.97 for the items listed, not including Wisk (since it will be free)
      $5 + $1.99 + $6.99 + $6.99

      • mary

        duh! lol
i didnt realize it was 2 scott tp’s! thank you mel!

  28. Ronni

Aveeno coupon states excludes trial and 2.5 oz sizes…the anti itch cream is 1.0 oz does it still qualify? I think it does because it says “and”…any thoughts?

    • Ronni

Also….are there overlapping Aveeno deals? Buy 2 Aveeno Products get $5 ECB and the First Aid deal the Aveen Anti-itch is included…buy $10 get $5 ECB. So can you possibly get (2) $5 ECBs?

    • Elizabeth

I would say no, it doesn’t. If they exclude trial size and exclude 2.5 oz, that makes me think that the 1 oz might *be* the trial size. (Why exclude the 2.5 but not the smaller one?) But that might just be me.

    • Leigh A. Peterson (@LeighPeterson)

1 oz of anti-itch cream (just like with eye cream) might be normal sized; whereas 1 oz of face cream would be trial size. So I would try it and see what happens.

      • Leigh A. Peterson (@LeighPeterson)

Oh nevermind. Now that I see the deal that specifically mentions the anti-itch cream, I assume it’s excluded from the buy 2 Aveenos deal.

  29. Carol_R

Thanks so much for your match-ups Collin. They’re awesome.

  30. edy

I just bought 6 tressemme shampoos 2/7 $3.50 each used 6 /.50 cents cpns 21.00dlrs minus 3dlrs cpns paid 16 cash plus tax got wisk free! Manager tooked the 2dlrs of wisk cpn! And twice again today. I believe its a monthly deal since my receipt it says total 75 total to reach limit 25 more! Thank u all!!!

    Total = $10.76
Use the $1/1 Neosporin coupon found in the 2/26 SS (Expires 4/15!), 3/18 SS, or 4/15 SS
    Pay $9.76
    Get back $5 Ecb
    Final cost $4.76 for all!”

Am i wrong in thinking that if i run the first aveeno deal, then add a first aid to go kit so it looks like this:
Buy 2 Aveeno Anti-Itch Cream $4.49 (based on online price)
Buy 1 Johnson & Johnson First Aid to Go Kits $1.49 (based on online price)
    Total 10.47
Use the $2/2 (or 2 $1/1) coupons found in the 2/26 SS (Expires 4/15!)
    Pay 8.47
Recieve $5 ECB from the aveeno deal & $5 ECB from the Johnson’s deal so $1.53 money maker!

Someone please correct if i am wrong. plan to try in the morning!

    • Ronni

I just commented on that Scenario just now….I’m thinking it’s a possibility…I’ll try it and see what happens!

      • Ronni

I’ve read other blogs indicate that the Anti-itch cream is most likely excluded from the Buy 2 get $5 ECB deal.

For the “Spend $20 on Participating Products = FREE Wisk Deep Clean deal”, do i get a coupon for Free Wisk after i spend $20? or does it automatically take off the price of Wisk before i pay?

    • mel

you will need to buy the $20 AND The bottle of Wisk in one transcation. The price of the Wisk will then be deducted when the cashier totals your order.

  34. Del

Where can I get the CVS Spring Reinventing Beauty magazine?

    • Ashley57

Ask a cashier where it is in your store. They are .99 cents.

  35. Ashley57

The small Aveeno lotion is working for the ECB deal!! They are 3.59 each, 7.18 total. I had a $2/2 coupon, so $5.18. Then ECBs printed, so 18 cents for both!! 🙂

    • Julie

Ashley, if your read the coupon it excludes the smaller 2.5 oz size, so you should not use that coupon on that product.

      • Ashley57

Maybe my coupon was different, not sure. It was the only one I had. It didn’t beep at the register.

        • sue

I accidently used that coupon a couple months ago, and it stated excludes the 2.5oz after i went and looked at another coupon. It wont beep at the register, but that doesnt mean that it is ok to use it

The Neosporin Essential Body wash deal works!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks!

  37. juvy

hi guys i have a question if the special k cereal is still giving out 4ECB?Thanks

    • Pamela

I just went to CVS yesterday and it is still showing up on my receipt that I can buy 3 more for the deal. I’d say yes..HTH ……and if it doesn’t work just return them right then and there:-)

  38. Cynde

Well it seems, once again, that all these coupons have skipped my region (Greenville, South Carolina). Such a bummer! I can never do many of these scenarios because I never receive the coupons 🙁 Anyone have any suggestions?

    • Ronni

Although I’ve never used them, maybe try a clipping service. I have the same problem….I just move on the next deal….another one will come along.

    • Leigh A. Peterson (@LeighPeterson)

Me too. I really was looking forward to the Aveeno deal as I just started using that brand. Nothing for me in Akron Ohio. I’m going to ask my boyfriend to “chip in” to my couponing by buying the Cleveland newspaper today and see if it’s in there.

      • Andrea

I have the Aveeno coupons but didn’t get the ACT Total Care Sensitive ones 🙁 Maybe we could trade?

      • Sara

        Lima ohio received Aveeno coupons

    • amhale11

Which coupons are you looking for? Maybe I have them and can send them to you.

      • Sara

        No Act for me either

  39. Ze

The neosporin essentials body wash is 10.49 at my store. Not a bad deal still if you like the product.

  40. amhale11

Does anyone have an extra Pepcid $2.50/1 CVS store coupon available for trade? I will trade for anything you want (if I have them). Please email me at amhale11@yahoo(dot)com. TIA!!! =)

    • mel

its not a CVS coupon, but a manuf coupon (has the CVS logo on it and its the new, longer single upc bar code)

      • amhale11

Can it be stacked with the $3/1 mq???

        • Jenc

The stacking wasn’t working for me in my store.

        • mel

no b/c the $2.50 is still a manuf coupon. Also in the fine print it says Cannot be combined with any other coupon.

  41. Adrienne B.

not understanding the Suave Naturals body wash deal. seems like if you buy 3 for $8.37 and use the Buy2/Get 1 coupon (takes off 2.79), you are going to be paying 5.58 for all 3 (comes out to $1.86 a piece). Can someone please help me here? LOL

    • Abby

I did this deal this morning. You buy three and get one free as part of the ad deal, then you get another one free by using the coupon. So, you’re essentially buying 1 and getting 2 free. It was a totally easy transaction–the coupon didn’t beep or anything.

      • Adrienne B.

        ok, thanks for explaining. 🙂

        • Abby

          Sure! Happy shopping! 🙂

      • Lali

So how many im total do you get? Sorry confused..

        • mel

Lali, you would buy 3 items. Item 3 will be deducted b/c of the store sale (buy 2 Get 1 Free). Item 2 will be free b/c of the manuf coupon. That leaves you to pay for Item 1.

          • Trinity

Where is this coupon and what exactly does the coupon say? I’d like to try this deal but I’m not sure which coupon to use. TA.

  42. Liz

Thanks Collin for all of these deals! I am addicted to your website and LOVE couponing. You have saved me so much money!

  43. Danielle

Just an fyi: I bought the 40 count Zyrtec and used the $7 off coupon plus I got back 3 ECB which I wasn’t expecting ($18.99 – $7 coupon = 11.99 (oop) + 3 ECB; makes this an even sweeter deal 🙂

  46. amhale11

Ok, I have a question. I have the following Biore coupons:
    1. Buy pore strip, get free cleanser mq
    2. $1.50/1 Combination Skin Balancing Cleanser mq
    3. $2/1 cleanser or towelettes CVS coupon

Can I buy the $7.99 Pore Strips and the $8.29 Combination Skin Balancing Cleanser and use those coupons??? Since the $1.50/1 and the $2/1 are for the free item, will that work? I think I used a coupon on the cleanser for the same deal at CVS previously, but I’m not completely sure. With this deal I would pay $4.49 and get back $5 ecbs, so I really want it to work!

    TIA! 🙂
