Just as an FYI (ie WARNING!) about sevenslings.com. I’ve heard a lot of bad things about them—that their carriers break easily, hence being dangerous for babywearing. Also a lot of people report their credit card details being stolen after using that site. I’d just stay far away from them.

    • Jesse

Their stuff is made in China, too- no thanks. No quality control over there. And the “udder covers” just plain freak me out!

i signed up for the imagination library the last time this was posted and my two little ones just got their first book today! they are so excited! the book is the same, but its still nice to encourage literacy like that! dolly parton really has a great program going there! one for the bedroom, one for the playroom now.

    • kp

When I signed up for this for my 2 little ones, they got the same book the first month too, but after that they got different ones and different times of the month too. Mine are almost 1 and 2 1/2.

I was just going to ask about this. I signed my first daughter up 3 years ago and my new baby up recently. Daughter 2 just got The Little Engine That Could, the same first book my other daughter received. But I’m hoping after reading this that the following titles will be different. This is a wonderful program, but I don’t want to be wasteful by having 2 copies of each book. Anyone else experienced this?

      • Heather Y

EVERY child receives The Little Engine That Could as their first book. However, each month after that, until they turn 5, they’ll receive an age appropriate book. The month they turn 5, they receive a book about going to Kindergarten. Some of your books *might* be the same as the ones you received for your first child, but generally not, as they change up which titles are on their lists. Also, you could look into giving away (not selling, as I think that’s against the rules of the program) your extra copies to a local preschool, church nursery, etc. if you find that you’re received a couple duplicates. Hope that helps!

          Thanks!!

You can also score a free car seat cover! I love them and think they are fantastic…Use Promo Code “CCMOTHER” at carseatcanopy.com. You just pay shipping.

    • Michelle

The reviews are awful on the seven slings. Please read before deciding. There are no refunds when you pay just shipping.

      • Jesse

And the shipping is exorbitant, imo. It is a scam. I paid $14.95 for a carseat cover (allegedly the cost of “shipping”) when in reality, there is no way shipping cost that much- it was light as can be. It was a gift for someone else, but I’d never buy from them again, the product is made in China and I wasn’t impressed (at all) with the quality.

I haven’t had a problem with the nursing covers. I have 2 and love them!

Thanks so much for this post – hubby & I are in the process of adopting our first child, so this post couldn’t come at a better time for us! Love your site, as always!

I didn’t get a diaper bag and cool freebies from Enfamil. I forgot what, I think it was just a bottle

    • Ratna

I got the enfamil diaper bag from hospital..they will send u email and link to print the certificate .when u give birth u show that certificate and they will give u the bag.I didn’t print or ask them..they just give me

    • Anne

Just a heads up: if your hospital is becoming certified by the World Health Organization for breast feeding promotion, there will be no freebies from formula companies.

  7. Lisa

This is awesome Collin! I’m expecting our 2nd in Nov. and with our 1st, I signed up for every baby freebie I could. I got so many formula checks and samples, diaper rash cream, etc. I’ve just started my stash of baby freebies for #2. Thanks for this post! Also, does anyone know if the American Baby has coupons and stuff in it?

  8. Angela Regan

the baby magazines look like they are only for mothers that haven’t had their baby yet, you can’t put in the date baby was born, just the expected delivery date…..

I purchased the items from sevenslings before reading reviews… so dumb of me, I know. I probably won’t use the sling very much as it only looks big enough for an infant. The udder cover I will probably use a lot. The material is thin, but I’m in a warm climate so I wanted something light. Surprisingly, the car seat cover is really nice. I will use that often. I didn’t have any issues with extra charges, but I would advise to make the purchase with your credit card just in case. That way if you do have issues, the credit card company will help remove the charges. So if I could have done things over again, I wouldn’t have purchased the sling.

I have a sling from Seven Slings and I really like it. I used it with my daughter until she was nearly a year old and never had a problem with it. She fit in it well, it was comfortable and easy to use, and all the seams were double-sewn for extra durability. It says it’s for up to 30 pounds, but my daughter is too squirmy to use it with now.
