  1. Im

I’m planning to get the pencils as well as the $0.01 items. any idea what else I should get since I’m off by $0.71 before reaching the $5 purchase

    • Michelle Bromley

I would get the multi purpose paper for printing coupons

      • Pepper

        I’m how about pencil sharpeners?

    • jessica

you should throw in a copy paper, especially if you’re a couponer. You get back a check for 5.99. So your real purchase price would only be $1.71 + tax

    • Deedee

I usually get something that will be free after easy rebate.

      • Im

Thanks I’ll stick with my plan and get the free MIR item for $4.29, 3 pens, 2 legal pads, 2 dividers all for $5.08 and get back $4.29 MIR back so its like getting everything for $0.79

  2. Michelle Bromley

I purchased the back to school savings pass today and it already paid for itself and saved me another $5. Also just wanna say thanks for everything you do (makes my life a lot easier :))

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awe… you are most welcome! 😀

    • Marissa

What did you buy to have it pay for itself Michelle? If you don’t mind me asking. im debating if i should buy it or not.

      • Michelle Bromley

oh I loaded up..lol…I got two of the multi purpose paper for $6.99 each, took off $1.05each, paid $5.94, then submitted for the rebate and will get $5.69 each back. Then got four of the hp photo paper $9.49 each, took off $1.42each, so paid $8.07 but then submitting the rebate and will get $7.57 back on each. And then 32 items at $1.00 each which then it deducted $4.85, and then I needed some pens for work and they were $4.29 and the discount on them were .64 cents. So my total discount was $12.63, so it did pay for itself and then a little ( it was more but I returned a couple of items because I went over the limit and didn’t realize it until after…. oops). So it was worth it for me especially seeing I plan on going back next week too…..Hope this helps ya…..I do see what you are saying about the rebate though cause you would be getting it back regardless, but those dollar items do add up. 🙂

        • Jan

Did you get a confirmation on your rebate amounts? Last year I used the back to school card and it deducted the savings from the card penny for penny from my rebate.

  3. Marissa

I have a question about th e15% off school pass…
is it really worth it to pay the 10$ OOP in everyones opinion? I dont buy BIG items at staples, i do however do all the back to school shopping but i always only buy the easy rebate items and the super cheap .25 cent items (or other really good deals)
    THANKS

    • Im

IMO i say no because the rebate you are getting back money and if you are going use it on the cheap items that are under $1 i just don’t think it’s worth to pay $10 for a 15% staples pass

      • Marissa

So if i was buying the pencils and it was 4.29 would i actually pay 3.65 AND still get back 4.29??

        • mistrcheap

No, the wording on the rebates is “UP TO” $4.29, if you pay $3.65 net using the BTS 15% off pass, you’ll only get back $3.65.

        • la

you can try maybe it will be a MM

        • Jen

Yes it will be a money maker since it is an easy rebate… You will get the full amount no matter how much you pay. I have been doing staples deals for a long time and have always gotten the full amount back on staples easy rebates no matter how much was paid. The only time it matters is for items that give back rewards. On rewards items you only get the amount paid. But on rebate items you get full amount no matter what.

          • Marissa

THANKS everyone for their comments. I wish I had bought the 15% card last week! Dang it!!

  4. Oli

aww, man ouch look at that the same paper is now $1, when just awhile ago it was .25

    • des

You are right…got that offer last week and other stuff included in the offer, used $5 off $30….paid $39.51 and will get $40.45 in rebates

  5. Carolyn

Do the Free-After-Rebate mechanical pencils count towards your $5 minimum purchase to get the $.01 deals?

    • Jenny

I sure hope so! That’s what I plan on doing first thing tomorrow(:

    • Oli

yes, since it doesn’t ring up as free.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Yep… they sure do! 🙂

      • Carolyn

        Awesome, thanks!

  6. Janette Sanders

I also got an email for buy 2 get 1 free on HP ink.

    • Kwes

Yeah, I just got the same email. Just yesterday I purchased 2 ink cartridges. Bummer.

  7. Jenny

The $5/$30 coupon expired today): Do you think there will be another one that can be used in combination with tomorrow’s deals?

  8. auroranibori

I just submitted my rebates for this week (the multi purpose paper) and I had a question – it says you can only have two rebates per address? How does that work exactly? (Not really used to doing rebates, lol)

    • ali

If you bought 2 of the paper reams, when you fill out the online form and put the rebate offer number and receipt number in, etc, it will automatically know that you purchased 2 and offer you the rebate check in the amount for 2 of them ($13.48, I think). If you only buy 1, it will only offer you the $6.74 easy rebate amount for 1. If you bought more than 2, it will still only offer you the $13.48 because the limit was 2 per household, and you should return any extra ones back to the store. 🙂 I hope that makes sense.

      • auroranibori

Yes that does make sense 🙂 So is the limit for 2 rebates only for the specific item? Meaning, I purchased 2 of the papers, so I got the two rebates for those… so if I purchased a DIFFERENT rebate item, would I be able to get the rebate for that item as well? (I hope I am asking this clearly!)

        • angela

Yes. The limit is per item and most items have a limit like the paper reams are a limit of 2. I bought 3 different items last week and will get back a rebate on each of them. Although you usually get 3 separate checks instead of just one so their processing must do it by item. Also if you submit the rebate online, it really is simple and there are diagrams of where to find the info you need to enter from your receipt.

          • auroranibori

Great! Thanks so much! 🙂 🙂

        • des

I believe so because it will have a different rebate number…their system can track that

  9. Marissa

OK sorry everyone i dont know why im having such a hard time understanding this….
soooo IF you have the 15% card and you bought 2.99 glue… then you would’ve paid $2.54 and then gotten a check back for 2.99 OR 2.54?
THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE…..
my brain is NOT working tonight… 😀

    • mistrcheap

$2.54, the wording on the rebate is “up to” $2.99, if you use the BTS pass and pay $2.54, you get a rebate for $2.54.

      • KC

Incorrect, easy rebates pay the full amount. Staples *rewards* are reduced by any coupons used.

  10. mistrcheap

Don’t forget! On free after rebate or $1ar COPY PAPER, you still earn 10% back in rewards ON THE FULL pre rebate amount. Such that, if you buy 2 reams at $13.00 and get back $12 in rebates, you will also earn a $1.30 in 10% rewards on the copy paper. So be sure to give your rewards number when you shop in store!

  11. Jake

So… Confused here. The Staples website ad for next week’s deals says limit 4 per household for the Staples Photo Paper but only limit 2 for the Office paper. In your post it says limit 2 for both? I’m going to double check the flyer ad in tomorrow’s paper to make sure before I go shopping.

    • des

It is limit 4 for photo paper…I bought 3, my rebate has already been processed. Hope this helps

      • des

Oppps!!!i’m referring to last week’s promo….not sure about this week though

  12. Ariel

If I bought two of the printer paper last week, can I do two again this week? Is it a different rebate offer??

    • pam

I was just wondering the same thing….

      • Lisa

yes, I have in the past. It’s a limit of 2 on the current deal. Each week it’s a new deal.

  13. Jessica

Since its limited 2 per person, if i go with someone else can we get 4 of the 1c items?

    • marlene

yes each person can get the limit of 1¢ items but it requires you buy $5 minimum

  14. cheryl

If you are a teachier or work on the field of education – the staples in Houston (not sure if it is everywhere, but does not hurt to ask) allows you to purchase 15 of each deal.

    • Cheryl

Did you ask about this deal this year? I’ve heard Staples is allowing teachers the class size quantity, but you have to pay full price for the items and then you’ll get the money back in Staples Rewards. Definitely not as good of a deal!

  15. Mister Cheap

    Collin and All:

HEADS UP! The rebate limit on the Staples Photo Paper is 4 and the rebate limit on the Mechanical Pencils is 2. Ignore any other signs, whats printed on the rebate form is what counts and these are the limits on the rebate form.

Additionally, the rebate limit on the Trend Micro Software is TEN!

    Happy Shopping! Mistercheap

    • Tarri

thanks, hopefully when I get back over there I can get another pencil

  16. moba

i thought that you get the rebate full amount even if you paid with rewards, and the rewards items only you dont get except what you really paid, am i right? because i used 5 off 30 coupon to pay plus some rewards, and i dont know if iam gonna get the full rebate back or no after reading some of the comments..thanks

    • mistrcheap

Rebate items paid with rewards = OK, you’ll get the rebate. Rewards items paid with rewards= NOT ok, you will not earn rewards on items you paid for w/rewards.

      • moba

        thank u

  17. Mandy

Do they take manufacture coupons at staples? I have a coupon for charmin that would make it a great deal but unsure if they do this? Thanks!

    • Susan

      yes, they do

  18. Teri

Where do you find the staples ad???

    • Tarri

Staples.com, you might have to put in your zipcode for the ad in your area. There should be a link at the top for weekly ad.

  19. Jennifer Rosen

I’m new to this so please forgive me. Are easy rebates mailed to me in a check form or in store credit?

    • Deedee

check or PayPal/direct deposit I think. It’s actual money, not a rewards certificate. They have other promos that do earn rewards though.

  20. Dora

I was told anyone can use the pass.. so if you wanted you could go half with someone else on it. It can only be use once a day tho..

  21. Lori

I was wondering if the 20% off is regional. I dont see it in our ad. Thanks so much. Such good deals!

    • Lori

I mean 30% off the furniture

  22. Emma

This might sound stupid, but I don’t quite understand the 1 cent items with a minimum purchase of $5. Can someone please explain please?

    • Lori

You need to spend $5.00 on other products in the store, then you are able to get the items for $0.01. however you can only get 2 of each of the 0.01 items.
For example if you get the multi use paper that coast $6.99 you are then able to get 2 of the Writing Pad and/or 2 Avery Insertable 5-tab Dividers for a penny each.
Plus you can send in the rebate costing you $1.04 (plus tax) for all 🙂 I hope this helps!

      • Emma

        Thank you sooo much! 🙂

  23. Amanda

Was their an expiration date on the Staples coupon that if you spend $30 you can get $ 5 dollars off? I can’t seem to find it anymore. Please help!

    • Tarri

It expired 7.14, you may want to ask if your store takes competitor coupons, some do and treat it like a price match

  24. Ashley

Dont forget to download the Staples App to you smartphone. There is a CHECK IN button in the app – do that in the parking lot once you are there. I have only done this once – but it gave me a 50% off all pens, pencils, markers and highlighters coupons. It counts for everything in your order. I ended up getting 21 items for $10.06 and have the rebates on the pencils still.

  25. Brie

does staples accept competitor coupons? For example, if I have a $10 off a $30 purchase at Office Max, can I use that at staples and combine it with your great deals? Thanks!

    • marlene

they should they do at mine plus theyll price match office max ad too so you can total up $30 with both stores to get better deals

  26. Jordan

I was wondering if anyone had tried using their 15% Back to School rewards card more than once a day. Do they keep track? I wanted to use it at two different stores in order to get more of the penny deals (since they stopped letting teachers get class sets). What do you think?

    • Marissa

Won’t work. One time did a deal and it got messed up because they were out of stuff and I went to another location and it says whT other store and what time you used it because the store before hasn’t voided out the transaction properly I guess.
