If you are needing to purchase backpacks for your kiddos, then here is one deal that you’ll want to snag! Starting this Sunday, July 29th through August 4th, OfficeMax will be offering their entire selection of backpacks and messenger bags for just 1¢ after MaxPerks Rewards! Choose from backpacks and bags priced at $11.99-$142.99 and you’ll pay just a penny after Bonus Rewards…so awesome! 😀

Keep in mind there is a limit of 2 backpacks/messenger bags per member and this offer will be available in-stores, online and by phone while supplies last. If you are planning to take advantage of this great deal, I suggest that you head to your local store early Sunday morning to ensure you have the best selection. If you’re planning to shop online, I will post something early Sunday morning to remind you.

To qualify for the MaxPerks Rewards, you MUST use your MaxPerks ID during the checkout process! Bonus Rewards for these offers, along with any other rewards that you may have earned during the same period, will be issued in the next statement cycle in the form of a Reward Card redeemable toward future purchases at OfficeMax. Please note that MaxPerks Rewards cannot be used to purchase gift cards.

If you’re not a MaxPerk member, no worries…head over here to sign up or sign up at your local OfficeMax store or by calling 1-866-MAXPERKS. The MaxPerks program is open to teachers and businesses. However, ANY one is eligible for a MaxPerk’s business membership… you do NOT have to own a business to choose this option (I did verify this fact and was told by customer service that it was completely fine to sign up for a business membership even as a stay-at-home mom).

I always hear about OfficeMax Rewards. Is it like a credit card? Or more like a king soopers card?

    • Tammi

It comes in my email as an officemax gift card so you can easily roll it on more free after rewards items. It does take a while to get your rewards back though, but when you get them they don’t expire for a while.

      • Jess

So the officemax reward sent via email and i guess you print out the page and bring to the officemax? I have no idea how it works, could you explain it more in details. Always saw alot of great deals but didn’t know how the officemax rewards work. I don’t live in the U.S., can I still apply for the reward id???

        Thanks

When you get your MaxPerks back are they only to use in store or can you get a check back like at Staples?

    • fran

      In-store purchases.

      • fran

Oops! Collin states “toward future purchases at OfficeMax”.

  3. Tammi

They seem to do this deal every year – love it! I usually buy a backpack and roll that money on a case of paper that is free after rewards when it comes available. Then I use up my rewards on Turbo Tax next year to start over.

  4. Melissa

Can you simply select the bag you want, use your Maxperks ID during checkout and get the bag right away at the $.01 price? Or do you pay upfront, then get the money back later? A bit confusing…

    • Jenny

You pay up front and get your money back later in the form of a MaxPerk reward to be used at OfficeMax.

  5. Kathy

WooHoo! I try to get these types of deals every year for my kids’ backpacks for school. These are so much better than the character ones at other stores. They have lasted my kids the entire year instead of a few months like the cheap ones.

  6. kristina

when you get the reward is it only a gift card for instore purchases or can I use the gift card online too?

    • Zack

      Online too! 🙂

  7. Kathy

I just checked the website ad to see what ones we could pick from and it says that this in in-store only. I really hope that Collin is right and we can do this online. I buy lots from office max and have some rewards waiting to be used. I don’t have one close enough to go there Sunday morning.

I homeschool my kids and they let me get the teachers perks card. It takes less to earn rewards and some other perks too! Worth a shot to ask at your store to see if ok.

    • Emilytwinmom

I tried at our store and they told me I was getting the teacher’s card, but it’s a regular card – I have to wait three months to get rewards back…

  9. Amy

How long does it take to get the maxperks rewards? Is a statement cycle the end of the following month, or do you receive them quarterly like at Staples? Thanks!

    • Emily

It depends on what kind of account you have. The teacher account takes longer to get the rewards but you can search for the exact time frames on office max’s web site.

  10. Amber

The fine print says *in-store* only. Boo. I have to order online since I do not have one close enough. 🙁

  11. moba

is the rewards works like staples? i mean if you used ur rewards to buy items with rewards you will only get what u paid or u can roll them and get the full amount of rewards back?tia

  12. Rachael

    States IN STORE ONLY…..

  13. Ashley

in the terms and conditons said that you need to spend $500 during a year calendar in order to get $25 back, my question is, if i buy the backpack i need to accumulate $500 to get what I paid for the backpack? or it will be after the cycle? I got the max perks reward card, should I get another ine? or this is fine? Thanks!!

    • whiskeynos

No- you will get a reward for your MaxPerks bonus rewards when the next month cycle hits. So you buy the backpack and pay full price, then at the end of the next month you will be issued a reward & have xxx amount to spend within 90 days. You can use that on line or in store. The spend $500 and get a $25 is in addition to that and is based on calendar year- depends on what month you signed up. That $500 does not affect this bonus deals that Collin posts.
I know it sounds confusing, but it is a great program. I decided I needed to pick one store- instead of trying to do Office Depot and Staples, too. It seems like Office Max had the better deals for what I wanted. Also- if you get rewards next month- the cool thing is- you can use the reward card to buy other things that will give you rewards back on, too. Ex: I got 100% back on a computer bag- then 2 months later, I bought paper that was 99 or 100% back and I got another reward the following month.
Good luck- I hope that helps.

      • Amy

Thanks for the explanation! I’m looking to settle on one office supply store too and I agree that the OfficeMax deals do look better in general! Also, last time that we went to OfficeMax, I received a $10 off of $25 purchase at Payless. When I redeemed that at Payless, I received a $10 off $40 purchase at OfficeMax coupon as well!

when you got the rewards back, do you have to use the rewards all in one trip? can you use some and save the balance for other future sales. Does it work like office max gift card except with expiration date? Thank you in advance.

    • jrcheeky

You don’t have to use them all in one trip. You can use them across multiple trips, online, etc… until they are gone. So, they are a lot like a gift card in that regard, but they do expire. I think it’s usually about 3-4 months. It’ll tell you on your rewards certificate (that you print online). The ones we got towards the beginning of the month expire 10/31/12. We are a big fan, though, because between the other free after rewards stuff you can “buy” and even just printer ink (let alone the other misc deals or “needs” that come up), we rarely have a hard time using them even when it’s $100-200. The fact that they “roll” (that you can use them towards other “Free after Rewards” items) is so helpful – – those deals come a long a bunch, especially online – you just have to keep an eye out for them. Then again, we are both in education, so we get pretty excited about things like “free” staplers, pens, markers, etc… when they come around. 🙂 HTH

Wondering if this is regional, this is not mentioned in my local ad at all. In fact the only mention of backpacks is 25% off. BOO HISS! LOL

    • KC

Answered my own question, it is regional. 🙁 I checked ads for other areas and it is right on the front page but it is nowhere in mine (I’m in NC). So I suggest before wasting a trip to the store, check out your ad online to make sure your area is participating!

  16. Jenny

Is this backpack ad for all stores? I looked at my local weekly ad for next week on teh Office Max website, and there is no mention of any sale on any backpacks.

    • KC

No, it isn’t in every store unfortunately.

  17. Chris

Okay, I just checked and the backpacks in my store will be on sale. I also see a coupon for $5 off a $25 purchase. Is it okay to use the coupon when I buy the backpack or does that some how mess up the reward? Thanks!

  18. Christina

Hi I am new to the max rewards and was wondering if they ever have like the free softwear programs or other items that you can buy with the max rewards and then get a rebate back for it, That is what I do at staples to get my money back. I have bought things the last 2 weeks and dont want to be stuck with over $200 in rewards. Thanks so much
