I went to a Staples in central OH for the Bic mechanical pencils and to use the coupon and they refused me.

  2. Brad

Couldn’t we use the $1 off 2 Bic coupon on the wite out, too? According to Bics website it’s a stationery item. Two packs for free!! 🙂

    • Holly

I didnt think of that! Good lookin’ out!

  3. shannon

My Walmart has been matching the Staples penny deals so I can get more of them than just the 2 per person.

    • Maddy Luvsu Golston

dear shannon to match the penny deal do yo uhave to bring some type of proof or what?

  4. Ashley

Hi Collin! Thanks for all you do, great deals! But I have one question. You could also use the $1/2 BIC coupon on the 50 cent white out to get two packs free right? Thanks again Collin! 😀

  5. Marvin

Does the easy rebates apply to online orders?

    • maflies1

I have done that before with no problem.

  6. Takia White

I went to staples today to try and use the 1/2 bic coupon on the . 25cents bic mechanical pencils this wk.They would not adjust down the coupon or accept it. They were extremely rude so I guess it depends on the store. I tried to look up a coupon policy but I guess they don’t have an official policy that I could find. Its the only staples near me so I guess it varies by store. He even told me I shouldnt try to use the coupon at any other staples because they will not take the coupon because you cant get it for free. On a happier note had great shopping trip at rite aid, cvs and safeway today.

    • Kay

Hi Takia, you should be able to PM @ Walmart and use the coupon to get 2 for free plus $0.50 overage or get 4 free with $1/2 Q!

      • Takia White

I couldnt pm at walmart sincce they did not carry the product but thanks for the info.

        • Valerie

I used several of the $1 off 2 bic coupons at my local Staples this week, no problem. I purchased in quantities of 4 since they were $.25 each. So I got 4 for $1 and used the coupons = FREE. More mechanical pencils for use to donate, as my son and I are filling 30 backpacks with all the penny and freebies.

  7. Jen P

How does PMing work at Walmart when a place like Staples has a limit on each item and you need a $5 minimum purchase?

    • Michelle735

In my experience think it depends on your Wal-Mart. At mine they will price match the penny stuff but they do follow the limits. YMMV!

  8. Jenn

I used the $1/2 Bic coupon this past week at staples and got four packs of pencils for free!

  9. Marissa

my add says limit 2 (unless otherwise noted) on the bic pens. anyone else’s say that?

    • Holly

I notice that too! What does “unless otherwise noted” mean?

      • Leona F Rodriguez

the otherwise noted is if theres another limit on the item..like the rebate listed on the post-its as limit 1 rebate..

    • Holly

I’m thinking we could try 2 Bic pens and 1 Bic Whiteout! Hopefully that works.

    • milly

Unless there’s a special in-note memo that says otherwise. Ex: The ass may say limit 2, but the store can impose their own limit- either less than 2 or more than 2.

      • Laura

I just have to laugh at Milly’s comment. Love a great autocorrect.

        • milliy

OMG!!! I’m soo sorry!! I don’t know why in the world did I write these things!! LOL!! I must have been very sleepy and didn’t check on what I wrote. LOL OK, let me repeat that. LOL!!
Unless there’s a special in-store memo that says otherwise. Ex: THe (lol) ad (not ass!LOL) may state limit 2, but the store may also set their own limit – either less or more than 2.
          LOL

          • Loren

LOL! I think you just made my day!

            • milly

              LOL!

    • Roxanne

yes if you want to get the pens for free get 2 pens and then the white out thats on sale for .50 u just pay the .06 sale tax i did it :0)

  10. Sarah

Tried a different Wal-Mart tonight and they would not match the penny or quarter deals from Staples and Office Depot. Said they are gimmick deals so they do not have to match. What do you think? Does this match the Wal-Mart policy? I was planning on ad matching the new deals too.

    • Erin

Haven’t tried it this year, but last year, Walmart price matched the penny deals for me. (Not the ones that required a minimum purchase, though. Didn’t try those because I don’t think Walmart price matches those.)

    • Michelle

They should match deals that don’t require a minimum purchase. Deals that require a minimum purchase they won’t match.

  11. Maria

In the 8/5 SS there was a $1 off any Pilot Frixion highlighter 2 pack or more, making it free this week at Staples.

  12. Brenda

If you have the 15% off card, your one cent items become FREE! At least at my store they do. The cashier pointed it out to me…that when their computer discounted me yesterday for 15% off my penny items, it took off the whole penny, so they were free!

    • Miriam

Really? Mine always say no amount was taken off and they stay a penny. I’ll have to double check my receipts. Maybe I misread it.

  13. Sarah Eighmey

During the weeks when Staples has the $1 binder deals with $5 min. purchase I have scored over 10 free binders plus money off my entire order by taking in old binders. It really is a great deal especially if you have old binders just sitting around and if you don’t need binders (my kiddos are too young) I am going to be giving them to friends that need them or donating to our local school.

Note: There is no limit to how many binder you can recycle but make sure you are buying the same amount that you bring in to recycle. 🙂

    • milliy

Oh wow! THe Rite-Aid were I live didn’t allow me to use the recycling $$ for the $1 binders that were on sale. They said it would have to be a regular-priced binder. My Staples stink=(

  14. Melissa

Went to Staples on Long Island and unable to use Bic coupon on pens. I was told that the coupon when used will reset the price to the regular price. I made her try it anyway and it did not work. You are also only allowed only 2 packs of pens at the $0.25 price! I did score some great prices at Target and OfficeMax though so not such a bad shopping day!

  15. Kim

My staples said the binder trade in event had ended. Boo!

  16. Jen P

I purchased 2 packs of the pens at .25c each and one pack of Bic white out for .50c and used the $1 off 2 coupon. Worked fine for me here in SoCal.

  17. Anna

I bought several packs of mechanical pencils last weeks–too many probably–for free. I am going to go to Wags to get the free colored pens. My favorite types of pens in color no less! I am in heaven!!!!!!!

  18. Leigh

I went to Staples today bought the $1 after rebate copy paper, 5 packs of filler paper.
I was going to buy the WhiteOut and Bic pens but the cashier “claimed” they could not take a MFG coupon with sales items. So I did not buy those items. Went to Walgreens and also was unable to buy the .49 Bic pens with the MFG Coupon due to it being .02 more than the items. Went to Target and after much waiting the cashier was able to accept the .50 Target coupons on the .49 Scotch Magic Tape. So annoying!

    • Miriam

I am sorry to hear that. It seems like cashiers are getting more snippy about people using coupons. The manager at our Staples always overrides it in the computer (if it doesn’t scan) as long as I meet the requirements of the coupons I am using and the prices never change to the regular price.

      Warning, rant coming:

Why do some cashiers act as if using coupons is stealing their money or food off their table? It is the MANUFACTURER who gives coupons like this, not the store and if the store is giving out store coupons, they have a plan. Mfg and stores don’t give out coupons to lose money. They would go out of business that way. Also, the stores get reimbursed for the mfg coupons, so there isn’t a good reason they shouldn’t accept a coupon as long as the appropriate product listed ON THE COUPON (not in the picture our the interpretation in your head) is purchased. Sheesh.

TL DR: cashiers and store owners, stop acting like using manufacturer’s coupons appropriate is unethical or coming out of your pocket.

  19. Melissa

The cashier talked me into the 15% off pass today because what I bought with the discount made the card basically free. It would have cost me the same amount. My question is will I get the full amount back before discount on the rebate items? That is mostly what I buy so if not then getting the card would be pointless. Thanks in advance for any answers.

    • Miriam

I have gotten full rebates from the card as long as the rebate is worded “get x.xx back instead of 100% back in rewards.

  20. Kitty

Limit of 2packs of 25 cent pens and could not use $1 off 2 🙁

    • Kitty

      in michigan fyi

  21. Shimu

hi. i purchased based on Nicole’s deal scenario at staples on 08/04/12. i bought 2staples paper $6.99×2, photo paper $14.99×2, 4 bic pencils .25×4, chalk .25×4, 8 rose art .5×8, (instead of avery binder, i bought 4 rose art crayons more) and a $10 gift card along with .16 penny deal items. i used $5/$50 and 15% gift card together. For 15%, I got $7.66 discount. i had $3.50 tax. i paid with my cc $50.96. i should receive $13.99×2=27.98 for photo paper but the easy rebates showing “Rebate Check for $23.48” and staples paper showing “Rebate Check for $9.88” instead of 5.99×2. last week i used only $5/$30 purchase coupon and i got full easy rebates. this week i used both $5 and 15% and i didn’t get full rebates. for photo paper $5 coupon i got 1.19 discount and for 15% i got 2.25 discount. if i did not use 15%, i could get 13.99×2 and 5.99×2. then what is the use of using 15% gift card? it is now deducting my $5 discount also.

    • Anna

that is why I find Staples and coupons confusing. It seems Staples finds a way to limit coupon usage but Staples is allowed to do it. I just try to keep my purchases simple at Staples when using coupons (theirs or MC).

    • Miriam

With just the 15% off, I am seeing the full amount on my Easy Rebates. I recommend chatting their tech support desk (they were really easy to work with when I did it before) and ask why it isn’t giving you the full amount.

  22. Shimu

Hi Miriam, thank u. I m going to chat and will write about it. Thank u Anna, exactly I decided to purchase as simple as possible. Also, will try to buy only the necessary things instead of reaching $30 or $50 paying $1 plus tax for photo paper.

  23. Shimu

    zebra z-grip ballpoint pens $4 easy rebate $4 from 08/12-08/18. thee will be a $5/$50 q
