If you are a newbie to Walgreens shopping, make sure to check out my Walgreens Store guide. And if the coupon jargon below starts to confuse you, take some time to read through the Coupon Newbie section.

Also, as most of you know, Walgreens released a corporate coupon policy. You can view the policy here. Be sure to print a copy and bring it with you when you shop in case any issues should arise. You can also now print Walgreens Instant Value Coupons online here.*NOTE: If you can find the monthly coupon booklet in-store, save your printer ink.

      You’re welcome! 🙂

a walgreens associate said they are changing their rewards program some time in september and its good news. it wont be rr’s where u cant use it on the same manu products or have to have even items with even manu coupons. it would be a card like the other reward progs and u dont even have to have a card u can look up ur rewards somehow on their computer. so it would be like cvs/rite aid where u can use them as u please

    • Kathryn Scott

      cool!

    • Tiffany

I was in an area that had the rewards program last year. It worked well because we still rec’d the RR’s that everyone else rec’d and we rec’d points. The best deal that was on the points was 5.00 walgreens certificates to use in the store. I do not think they are doing away with register rewards, not yet anyways. If and when they do, you may end up spending more money out of pocket (as points were based on the cash you spent after coupons) and points were also earned by special advertised items for example some where advertised at x2, x3 the points etc. or a certain amount of points for a particular item(s).

The test program was awesome for my area because I rec’d the rewards AND RR’s for the same item but I am not sure how great it will be without the RR’s, I guess we will have to see.

      • mel

I have heard many many complaints about the reward card, the main one being that the point system wasn’t anywhere near the value of the RR and it took a while to get enough points for the $5 GC. I’m not quite sure if I like the change.. but time will tell.

        • Brenda

Yeah, I hated it. The points are no where near the value of RR’s and while we did still get a few RR’s offered, I still felt like it wasn’t worth shopping there. You do end up spending a lot more out of pocket and every time I requested a $5 GC I would have to call them because the online order was messed up.
Sure wish there was a CVS in my area!

    • Kathy

My cashier mentioned the upcoming change this week as well. The way I understand it, we can not earn points on items we spend points on. So, if we used toothpaste points for the body wash, we wouldn’t earn points on the body wash. Time will tell if this is a good thing or not.

    • melissa

one downer – they will be able to track ur purchases then, so they will be able to limit the deals u can get.

      • Brenda

Yes, that’s part of the plan. They will put card limits on deals.

      • Jim

Limiting deals, like CVS and RiteAid, is a good thing. It will help control the inventory and have it available for more shoppers, not just for those that get there on Sunday morning.

        • Brenda

          I totally agree, Jim!

          • terri

unfortunately, many people get multiple cards, and the stores let them use them at the same time (like at riteaid where some shoppers use multiple video values, even though there is a limit of 1 per account).

  3. mackyjane

    Thanks Collin!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Welcome! 🙂

  4. Amy

I don’t think the $4 Zyrtec coupon would be valid since it says off a 40 ct or larger.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yep… you’re right. Just removed the coupon. Thanks for the heads up!

  5. Anita

We get our Walgreens ad in the Friday paper and the Carmex lotion isn’t on sale at my store. Very disappointed. I already have coupons printed and was wanting some free lotion. 🙁

    • Anita

Anyway, thanks Collin for your hard work in getting these deals posted. I look forward to Saturdays because of your Walgreens deals!

    • Rachael

It is also showing the lotion on sale in other sites on line ads. It is on pg 12 of my ad. At the top of the page is “beautiful” in large letters, then under is loreal, john freida, and just for men. Carmex lotion is in the center bottom of this page.

  6. Stefanie

There is a $1/1 Expo coupon on their Facebook (or there was) that would make those markers $3.99 🙂

  7. Samantha

Anyone else having trouble finding the carmex coupon? I love that stuff!

  8. Kimberly

Can’t find the Cramex coupon….and, not liking the new format of Coupons.com 🙂

    • Sasha

      TOTALLY AGREE, Kim!
When you go back in to run thru to the last page to print your second Q of the same item, it’s really SLOW to go thru all those pages now. Rats!

      • Rebeca

Sasha, I have actually being wondering if there is a better way to print the 2nd set of coupons? I was hoping one could only refresh or something and find them all clipped already for you! 😉

        • couponcat

I don’t use coupons.com anymore because of that issue, now I use couponsuzy dot com – It is set up exactly how coupons dot com use to be. Try it!

          • Jen

I use swagbucks.com to print off the same coupons. You get 10 pts per coupon redeemed. The only thing I do on the site is print off coupons and I’ve gotten almost a $5 amazon gift card a week.

            • momto2

What I have found that works to reprint the same coupons is when your coupons have finished printing just click on the back arrow then the refresh button. A box will come up to “retry”..click that and the coupons will print again. There may be an easier way but this works for me..

            • Dulce

              Jen,
I took your advise about swagbucks.com, but I have been unable to receive points when I print any coupons. Any suggestions? Thanks

            • Sue Donym

Dulce, from what I can remember, the swagbucks points are credited to your account upon redemption, not when you print it out. HTH! 🙂

              • Dulce

                Thank you, Sue Donym

  9. Katy

One question ladies 🙂 Can in ad coupons be used together with RRs? I know RRs are considered manufacturer coupons and in ad are well store’s coupons but I’m not sure.

    • Samantha

Yep! In ad coupons (store coupons) can be used in conjunction with RRs and other manufacturer coupons! 🙂

      • Katy

        thanks Samantha!!

        • Sue Donym

Katy, just make sure that you still follow the rule about the number of TOTAL coupons equaling the number of products, including the in-ad and RRs. 😀

          • Kylie

actually that’s not true, Sue. RR’s are considered manufacturer coupons, in-ad coupons are not. HTH!

  10. Taraneh

yeah i can’t find the carmex coupon anywhere 🙁

  11. Dino

Heads up if your in the North CA area local Foods Co has Herbal Essences for 1.98 wyb 4 use 2 MQ in tomorrows paper Final Cost .48 per bottle 🙂

  12. Desiree Coleman

Could I use a $2/2 4 packs of Starbucks drinks on the 4/$5 deal? Making it 8/$8.

    • Michelle

No, you have to buy the packages that are already in a 4-pack. You can’t use it on four individual bottles.

    • mellesmom

I think there is a limit of 4 for the drinks, because its a wags q.

  13. Anita

Unfortunately, I live in a small town and we don’t get many of the deals the big city stores get. Our ad is only 8 pages plus a little 4 page ad with back-to-school stuff in it. I’ve tried to get the deals with the ad from the Des Moines paper but the manager said they can’t honor the register reward deals. They will honor sale prices, but if the register reward doesn’t print out there’s nothing they can do.

    • Tamara

Hi i live in Boone and have the same situation. Wondering if we get carmex deal tomorrow

  14. Brittany

    Thanks Collin!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      🙂

  15. Jamie

Thanks! The ban Q I got in my paper (baltimore sun) was $1/2, but still a great deal on deodorant.

  16. Jennifer

When I was at my walgreens today they had the 2 packs of lysol wipes $2.50 sticker on it said by one get one free so I’m hoping w coupons and sale that would make it a good deal for these wipes

  17. Ketryna

    I can’t find the carmex q either!

  18. Kelley

On the scotch tape- if I buy 4 and use the $2 off 4 items coupon, will they adjust it down?

    • amanda

      what insert scotch coupon in?

    • Dulce

      They should making them free!

      • amanda

may i ask what insert the scotch tape coupon is in?

        • mel

I *think* it was an IP on coupons.com early last month. by time I got my new computer & printer set up, they were gone!

          • kel

No it was in an insert about two to three weeks ago? I’m sorry, I dont remember which one but just look it up on one of the coupon clippers sites.

            • DeAnn

I printed mine off coupons.com a couple weeks ago , there were 3 different ones, a $1/3, $2/4 & $3/5. I used both the 1/3 and 2/4 at Wags today, getting 7 rolls of scotch tape and making $.27. She just scanned them both and didn’t bother adjusting them down. Great deal!!

        • Dulce

Sorry, I don’t know. I cut out all my coupons & put them in my notebook in order of the grocery aisles rather than the insert dates. Sorry again;(

          • Kelley

it was an online printable coupon that was posted maybe 2 weeks ago? I went ahead and tried it & I had also bought 2 other .39 items & when she ran the coupon through it didn’t beep- took off the whole $2!! I had even asked her about the coupon before she scanned it. LOL I think we were both crossing our fingers that it wouldn’t beep! end result FREE scotch tape!

  19. Amber

Just wondering, would walmart price match the BIC pen price of .49 cents since it is in the walgreens coupon section?

    • Cheryl

They should; I’ve price matched coupons from grocery store ads at Walmart before. I guess it would depend on the cashier and how familiar they are with price matching.

    • m. i

I have been told by other members (not the store) that walmart doesn’t validate other store coupons, sop I dont think so.

    • honesty

Yes they will Wal-Mart does take competitor coupons what they do is adjust the price kind of like when theyes price match. I do this all the time!

      • Dulce

Me too–Walmart honors the bic price if you can find the same bic pens there. The ones advertised at Walgreens are the multi-colored pens only, and not the 1 solid color packs. I went this morning, and there was no beep with the online printable bic coupons Collin told us about $1/2.

    • lmwynn

I am pretty sure Walmart’s price matching policy says that they will honor another store’s coupon only if it states the exact price of the item, so according to that, they should price match the BIC pens!

    • Tamara

Not sure why everyone makes such a big deal about getting BIC pens at Walgreens my two stores were swept clean of them but when i went to HY-Vee they had exact same pens 2/1$ but the sale is not in the add. Hope u can find them in your grocery stores))

  20. Cheryl

The Flinstones vitamins at my store are $8, not $7 🙁 but with the $4 off and the $1 coupon, they are still cheaper than at Walmart! 🙂

    • Crystal

the flinstone vitamins were $8.49 at my store too.

  21. Yvonne

Can you use 2 of the same walgreens q in the same transaction? for example, 2 of the .49 bic coupons to get 6 packages of pens free? or is it just one walgreens q per person/transaction?

    • kelly

it depends on the cashier i was able to use the wags coupon on two items per one transaction

      • mel

you only need 1 coupon, it will deduct for however many packs of pens you purchase. Even though the ad coupon has a limit, I have never had a problem purchasing more. (Unless you have a super strict manager or cashier) I bought 4 packs this morning and used 1 in-ad q + 2 $1/2 Bic insert q’s and the coupon deduced off for 4 packs.

  22. linda

    Hi Collin,
There is a 1.10 off 4 Haagen-Daaz cpn you posted yesterday from coupon network

  23. Danielle

Just an FYI, the bic razor coupon doesn’t scan on the lower price razors. Not sure about the more expensive ones. I was able to get a manager to overide it, but that’s always hit or miss.

    • Karen

Same problem. I love my Walgreens. The cashier just entered the cpns manually & didn’t even have to call the mgr. Most of the cashiers are VERY NICE & don’t mind lots of cpns or multiple transactions.

  24. Karen

I received a Crest Pro health cpn mailer the other day. There is a cpn for $1.50 off the ProHealth Oral B toothbrush & a $2.25 of the Crest ProHealth tooth paste. I used these with the $2/7-3.75=$3.25- $3 RR I got back. So .25 for the toothpaste & toothbrush!

    • Karen

Also, the Sally Hansen Magnetic polish is $9.99 (B1G1 50% on sale) there is a .50/1 nail color in the 8/5 RP. I used 2 .50/1 and the Aug Walgreens cpn & got 2 for $9.98

  25. Becca

So is anyone else having a problem with Walgreens and the bic pens the cashier told me I couldn’t use and I told her that I think she has to adjust it down but didn’t want to listen

    • Dulce

I went this morning, and there was no beep with the online printable bic coupons Collin told us about $1/2.

      • becca

did you use the $1/2 first and then the store coupon? because she scanned the walgreens coupon then told me my coupon wouldnt work for it and she didnt know why.

        • Dulce

The clerk did the store coupon first. Then the $1/2. No beeps and for the full $1. I’m sorry they did not manually adjust it for you. 🙁

    • Danielle

i didn’t get any beeps with them either. Scanned fine, no one seemed to care about the extra two cents.

    • Brenda

      Becca,
I’ve had this problem before too, bring in a printed copy of their coupon policy. It states that they will accept and lower the price on coupons that are more than the value of the item. Sorry you had trouble with it today!

      • becca

Oh, never thought about doing that, thanks for the advise!

    • Jen

I’m glad someone brought that up. The cashiers at my wags always insist that I cannot use certain coupons, and they refuse to adjust anything. So I usually avoid buying items that will trigger this issue. I’ll take the advice you all provided and try again. Thanks.

  26. Kelsey

So if I buy 2 Lipton Tea’s in 2 separate transactions, can I use those 2 RR’s to pay for a different transaction?

    • Jen

      Yes 🙂

  27. Dulce

I went this morning, and there was no beep with the online printable bic coupons Collin told us about $1/2. ALSO, in today’s paper there was a 25cent coupon for tape. I bought 3 rolls of Scotch tape for 39cents each using the Walgreens’ ad coupon + the $1/3 off any Scotch product mfr’s coupons (exp 8/31/12) from about 2 to 3 Sundays ago + the 23cent mfr coupo from todays. Total price: 3 rolls for free P.S. The $1/3 Scotch coupon did need to be adjusted down, and my clerk had not problems doing it. He was super great with me! Yay!

    • KC

Not following. If you only bought 3 rolls of tape how did you use $1/3 and .25 manufacturer coupons? To use both coupons you would need to buy 4 rolls.

      • Dulce

Kc you are right. I put the wrong coupon. I meant to say I bought 4 rolls of Scotch tape for 39cents each using the Walgreens’ ad coupon + the $2/4 off any Scotch product mfr’s coupons (exp 8/31/12) from about 2 to 3 Sundays ago. Total price: 4 rolls for free
P.S. The $2/4 Scotch coupon did need to be adjusted down, and my clerk had not problems doing it. He was super great with me! Yay! Thanks, KC—I had a moment there and was not thinking right.

      • Dulce

        and sorry about that everyone!

        • KC

          Thanks for clarifying! 🙂

  28. Ellen

If you 8 packs, will one $.49 coupon cover all 8 packs even though it says limit 3? I haven’t shopped at Wags in a while, but from my experiences one Wags coupon will cover all the items. Is that still the case?

    • Mary

I had problems finding the Bic pens this morning. Our stores were wiped out. Hope they restock this week. I’ll have to look for the scotch tape coupon in the coupon data base.

    • Jen

In my experience, yes that is still the case 🙂

  29. yer

came back from walgreens and i used the Glade Expressions Fragrance Mist coupon in the ad today. it states that if i purchased the starter kit get the refill FREE but instead i got the starter kit for FREE because silly me didn’t read it correctly and purchased the starter kit only…but yahhhh!!!! me…..cashier didn’t recognize either.

  30. Cindy

I did not see the chex mix on sale in my ad. Did I miss seeing it?

    • Brenda

      Cindy,
It’s part of the special bonus buy pages. They have added extra pages to their ad online. Often the stores won’t have signs up advertising the bonus buy sales. I guess they are trying to get people to look at their online ad, but it seems like an odd way to do it.

  31. Angie

At my Wagreens the Chex Mix wasn’t really on sale… 2/$4 with a $1 RR

  32. Julie

I was at my Walgreens today and on the back to school displays in the isal it has buy one get one 50% off on the flinstons vitimans that are already marked down so with this and the coupons I got 2 bottles for $3.23 and I snaged the expo dry erase markers the 8 pkg with two free for 3.99 so you might look

    • Tamara

Yes yes that is right in our store the display was in the isle with school supplies buy 1 get second 50%,they were ringing 7.99 each i had to go and show them the display and there own add for 4$ off flinstones. So in the end i got each bottle for 2$. Not bad at all. Thank you sooo much Julie and Collin.

  33. Emily

At my walgreens, only the large bottles of flinstones were on sale. I asked a cashier if the 60 count boxes were also on sale b/c they were online. We scanned the box and it was on sale for 2.99. I bought 4 boxes (had 3 coupons) and the cashier (I checked out at the make-up counter in my store) was super friendly and walked to the front of the store b/c there is a flinstones coupon in the health and wellness coupon book they have. It is a Manu. $1 off coupon, the store only had one book left so I was able to get the 4th box with a coupon too. It was very sweet of her. She also pointed out an extra clearance aisle that they added and wanted to make sure that I knew about it. I plan to write walgreens so they can commend her for her work. I left very happy.

  34. moon

in the post, for sensodyne, it state “Use the $1/1 Walgreens coupon found in the August Coupon Booklet (will deduct $2)” – does anyone know why is will deduct $2? Because the walgreen in-store coupon says “limit one coupon per customer per offer.” thanks.

    • Sue Donym

Moon, usually, even though there is a limit stated (similar to the in-ad coupons), the booklet coupons will apply to all of the items you are purchasing, hence the $1/1 coupon deducting a total of $2 for both products purchased.

  35. Jennifer

My store had the Chex 2/$4 with a $1RR. Even with the .60 coupon it makes it .90 a bag which for me wasn’t a good deal.

    • Brenda

      Jennifer,
Did you have the cashier scan the Chex Mix to check the price? The sale is part of their bonus buy sale, which is only advertised in their online ad and it’s rare for the stores to have signs up for these sales.

  36. Katey

If I buy 2 of the Walgreens tampons at the same time, will 2 RRs print?

    • crystal

Nope Katey, you will have to purchase them in separate transactions or else you will only get one RR.

  37. wags ba

as a wags employee let me clear up all the facts about the new loyallty card coming called balance rewards u will have to sign up for a card if u want to get the sale prices and use the wags coupons the coupons and the card will have to be used together to get the sale prices u will also earn reward points on alot of items that the shelf will specify on once u reach 5000 points u will get 5.00 off your order or u can save up to 50000 to get 50 dollars off an order when u decide to use your points u will want to use them on items that dont genrate points as when u reeem points it will cancel out getting new points u cant use and earn in same transaction u may decide to go cardless and enter your phone number at the pin pad we will still be doing register rewards as far as i know and i belive there will be no limits as to how many times u can do a points deal u also have 36 weeks to use your points and if u dont use them in that time they expire or if you have no active use i hope this answers some of the questions

    • wags ba

also u will not earn points on all items prohibbted by law and cant use points on those items either ie cigs alchol gift cards phone cards dairy stamps basically all the rr exclusions
