Back in 2011, I posted about a mobile app called Endorse that allows you to earn cash back when physically shopping in the store. And then in early 2012, Endorse suspended its program to make some changes to benefit all of its users. Well, I am happy to announce that I just received an email from Steven Carpenter, the Founder and CEO of Endorse, and Endorse is now live and available for both iPhone and Android users. Woo Hoo! 😀

Here’s how it works:

* Head on over here to sign up for the app available for both iPhone and Android Users. Note Endorse is compatible with iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, iPad (3rd generation) and for Android (version 2.2 or higher, requires a rear-facing camera): Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, Motorola Triumph, Motorola Droid, Motorola Asix, HTC.

* Head to your local store(s) and browse through the available offers. You’ll find offers from 10% to 100% cash back on your favorite everyday brands.

* After you shop, upload your receipts. Note that you have seven days from the date of purchase (printed on the receipt), up until the date the offer expires, to submit your receipts.

* Get cash back! Keep in mind that your cash back is based on the final price you paid for any given item (after coupons and discounts!). You’ll be able to cash out when your cash rewards balance reaches $25. When it does, tap the “Cash Out Now” button and they’ll send you a check.

If you used Endorse in the past, feel free to share your experience with us!

I just downloaded this app onto my iPhone… Is signing in with facebook the only option?

  2. Kristin

Oh this sounds good to me. I am going to download it now.

  3. Susie

Was very successful with it before…but, I dont do cell phones~so, I am out! Bummer, I really enjoyed it.

  4. Mari

I’m intrigued… Would love to hear more info. Someone mentioned facebook, will we have to check in to places? I hope not.

  5. Stacy

I absolutely loved endorse before going to go download it now!

  6. mel

I got an email about 3 weeks ago, and so far its OK. Nothing like last time where you received credit for just about anything. This time around its certain products for 1 week and you have until Wed to submit your receipts(s) for the purchases. I submitted several last week and it was a quick turnaround for credit.

  7. shannon

I downloaded the app last night and used it for the first time today. You don’t have to check in to places but you DO have to log-in via facebook.

    • Mari

Do people see where you have been or does it make you share anything? Or can you use the application without anybody knowing?

      • Barbi

I have been using this app for about 3 weeks. The app is connected to Facebook. I don’t know of any other way to access it. Basically this is what happens. You will receive about 6 or 7 offers with an expiration date noted on them. Each offer will note how much you will receive back for purchasing the item. For example currently some of the offers were Mountain Dew 20%, Yoplait Original Yogurt 10%, ANY air freshner 10%….. After purchasing the items, you will upload a copy of your receipt via the app. If your receipt is long….as most of our couponing receipts tend to be…you will take multiple pictures of your receipt to capture the entire receipt. Take a picture of the top portion of the receipt….click “add segment” (you will see the bottem portion of your receipt so you know where to begin your next picture) continue this process until you have captured the entire receipt. I think you then click on “I’m done or upload” A page will come up where you will check off the items you purchased. Follow the instructions from there. After submitting your receipt, a few hours or days later you will receive a message on how much you were credited and ???points??? I have no clue what the points are…sorry. Hope this helps you

        • Kim

You get points for every receipt you upload even if they don’t have and eligible offer. I believe you get 5 points for every receipt you turn in. Once you receive 500 points you will get a voucher for a donation in your name to donorschoose.org, which is an online charity mostly helping with school classroom needs. You can do a search and choose to help out a local school in your area.

  8. Veronica A

I loved endorse before. Not so much of a fan now since there are only a few items every week that gives you rewards. However, I did upload a receipt the other day and it posted my reward immediately….that part I like.

    • Toni

I agree! I’m so disappointed in the new version. It’s going to take a year for me to cash out at $25. It just sits on my phone but unless it improves I’ll be losing it. Not worth .31 a month ha ha

    • Kris

Totally agree! Not a fan at all anymore and after all the anticipation and waiting….

  9. Rachel

How do u submit receipts do u have to scan etc?

    • mel

you upload the receipt(s) on your phone using the Endorse App.

  10. Joe Ann

Does it matter where you purchase your items? Some of the items on this week’s list, I usually purchase from Sam’s Club.

  11. Heather B.

I’m very excited about this program. I just submitted my Target receipt with the Glade Expressions deals under the “any air freshener” category.

  12. mel

another thing to note is that you can only submit for an offer once. So if you buy say Air Freshner on Monday, and submit the receipt, then buy more later in the week, you won’t have the option to upload any more receipts. You have to upload all the receipts at once for the product that’s offered that week. I just keep my receipts together, the on Wed sort through them and upload.

    • mel

I take that back. You have to purchase all on 1 receipt, you can’t submit multiple receipts. so if you buy 1 air freshener at one store, and upload that receipt, you can’t submit another receipt.

  13. Cricket

I agree with Mel. This version of Endorse appears to be a very watered-down offer compared to 2011. I loved it last year and earned over $200 in cash rewards during those three months, but I’ve been using the new version for a few weeks and have earned less than $1. Very disappointing, especially when I shared my experience and encouraged family & friends to use Endorse when it relaunched. Uploading receipt photos with a smart phone is a huge improvement and Endorse is doing a good job processing them daily, last year receipts were sent in through US mail and it took 6-8 weeks for processing. I’ll keep watching their offers for a while, hopefully they bring back more of what they had in 2011, THAT was awesome.

  14. Brittany

In case any one is wondering why it won’t work for the iPad 2, it is because the camera resolution isn’t high enough to snap pictures. Bummer.

  15. Kelly

I have the iphone 3GS and was told it wasn’t compatible. I’m so disappointed in what Endorse has become. It was an amazing program but now it’s pretty terrible. they hardly offer anything and only people who can afford to have fancy phones can use it.

    • lmwynn

I have the same problem, Kelly! So disappointed! They should give you an option to upload photos of the receipt on a website from your computer.

      • Steven Carpenter

        Hi Kelly and Imwynn-

This is Steve- the CEO of Endorse. I’m sorry you are having problems using the iPhone app with your 3GS. The app will work flawlessly with your iPhone- it appears your Operating System just needs to be updated. Once you do that, you will be all set.

        • lmwynn

I have a 3G, not a 3GS, I should have pointed that out. Do you think you guys will be allowing people to upload receipts via the computer anytime in the future? I think that would allow a lot more people to participate.

        • Sue

Hi Steve. Someone stated that there is a monthly charge for this app. I do not remember seeing one when I downloaded it. Could you clarify this for me?

    • Crystal

I have a 3GS also and the app works – just make sure your operating system is the lastest – it can be updated from the phone in the settings menu I believe.

  16. bali

Blah, not working with my ipod touch. Says resolution is too low.

    • Emma

It doesn’t work with my iPod touch either and I don’t have a smartphone. 🙁 I’m so bummed! I used Endorse a ton last year and have been anxiously awaiting the new Endorse and now I can’t participate. I wish there was another way to submit receipts for those of us who are too frugal to have a smartphone.

      • Becky

I agree. It’s really stupid to have an app just to send a picture of a receipt somewhere. I mean…I could do that with any internet-capable device (including my regular, old camera-phone…it has email!).
Considering how much they reduced the program though, I hear it’s really not worth worrying about now.

    • Jill

I agree. I only have an Ipod and was really disappointed that I couldn’t take pictures of my receipts because of the resolution. I was so excited about the program coming back but am now totally disappointed.

  17. katie

yeah, not so happy about how when they shut down, the said it would relaunch “better for everyone”. nope, just kinda okay for people who have the money to get the specific smartphones they support. and it looks like even if you do happen to have the right phone, you don’t get nearly as much to choose from to endorse each week. the way it was before was MUCH better. ANYONE could use it, you could endorse almost ANYTHING, and it didn’t matter how much of it you got… you got credit for all of them. Way to turn something great into something really lame, endorse. it looks like the past 7 months of anticipation have been for diddly squat.

    • mel

I have a Boost Mobile, nothing fancy smachie, just a basic smartphone and I was able to get the Endore App.

    • Rich

Katie – your post sums up this program to a tee! We waited 8 months for this?

  18. Kelly K

I did endorse before thru facebook, I received a great deal in refund checks, however since I am not big on cellphones, and only have regular old phone, Im out, but from the looks of posts I have seen looks like Im not missing much….what a bummer;(..was such a good program before

    • Becky

Ditto here – I used it a lot when it was on facebook. It took a while but it was pretty reliable (although they kept mis-tagging my items as general purchases or removing brands). Now…I really don’t like apps and this just seems needless – it’s just to send a photo (frankly, we could do that with any camera phone and an email address…stupid thing to make an app for), Honestly, from what I’ve heard I’m not missing anything.

  19. kelly

Jury is still out… I also did Endorse at the launch and liked it although I couldn’t imagine being the person that had to go through all those receipts. I have the app on my phone and have already used it and have money in my account. I think we have to remember that there are pros and cons to every company starting. First version took forever to get your check, then you had to endorse all the product, and get people to follow you. Now not everyone can use it, limited items that you can earn money back on, a time frame, and all on one receipt (like I only go to the store once a week.) Hopefully they will consider some of these thing and make updates:)

Question: I thought those of us that used the program at the launch where going to have a special incentive at the relaunch. Where is that????

  20. Susan

Everyone is right that it’s not nearly as great as what it used to be. Only a few items available to buy at a time. I wonder if they really had to scale it back because it cost them too much money. I’m still going to use it and it will take me longer to cash out $25, but with the different ways I try to earn money and save it all adds up.

  21. tara

I loaded it to my iPad2 then read that it doesnt support it.. booooo I dont have anything that supports this.

  22. Gigi

This may be a dumb question, but can you scan an old receipt? I bought toothpaste like a few days ago and they have the promotion for 10% back on any brand toothpaste. There aren’t much instructions to this app…

  23. Laura Wyatt

I am really really bummed no facebook. I think companies that make you do facebook are not ones that should be endorsed! (no pun intended)

  24. Gigi

Oh nevermind! I just read the bottom of post! I was excited after reading the first half that I skipped the bottom section. lol.

  25. Rich

I assume that Endorse is getting some type of percentage of sales from the companies that they are marketing – probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to contact the customer service departments of those companies and let them know what a failure this marketing ploy seems to be…

  26. Jennifer

I loved Endorse in the past. It was an app on facebook and you would mail in your receipts. This is a whole new system, but it sounds very simple and easy like before just using your mobile phone now instead of facebook and mailing in receipts! I am excited it is back!

    • Jennifer

nevermind, it is still nice, however they are only doing a few offers a week, where before you got to endorse any product you liked, and if you made a purchase you would get cash back on it for endorsing it and sharing it on facebook. Not many benefits this time around, don’t really buy anything other then toothepaste this week and I don’t know if a couple pennies is worth the hassel? we will see maybe it will get a little better over time?

  27. Crystal

I agree that it is nowhere near as cool as it was before. I can understand that they probably have to scale back a lot because I am sure they weren’t making much money before – I know I made a couple hundred dollars in 3 months and I know others did too. I’m ok with that, but I really hope that they make more products available – right now it’s only like 6 or 7 and it’s very specific — for example, I have to buy a 2 liter of Mountain Dew, not just Mountain Dew. That would be ok if there were more items to choose from, but right now it’s pretty limited. I’ll still keep using it though, it’s a free app and doesn’t take much time – even a little change here and there adds up.

  28. janet5631

I have been using the app for about 3-4 months now and I love it! I also used the facebook app when they were up n running!

  29. Amy

Give it time. Every new or relaunched program needs time to get into the groove of things. We shouldn’t expect them to offer tons of items at the onset. That may and hopefully will come over time. Lets give them a chance. Hopefully in the process we can make a little extra cash. Even if it is only a LITTLE!

  30. Hanna

My experience with them was sending 4 envelopes full of receipts from 2-3 months of purchases and not receiving any of the cash back.

  31. Kairi

Who are we kidding? Of course we all *loved* Endorse because they were giving us A LOT of free money! I knew from the minute I signed up n the beginning it wasn’t going to last, no business makes a profit paying people the amount of cash they were. So I’m not even ‘disappointed’ right now, because it was too good to be true to begin with, and I’m grateful I was able to benefit from it before they wised up!

    • Rose

good point there! I am disappointed too in the changes they’ve made but i knew it was coming.

  32. Tanya

i loved Endorse before it went to the new format. I don’t have a smartphone but have an ipad but the app doesn’t support the camera on the ipad (annoying) so while i can download the app, i can’t even attempt to take pictures of receipts. and it’s a bummer they decide what items you get credit for, instead of how it was before where you signed up for the items you used and get credit when you bought them. oh well

  33. Samantha

There is a similar app called Receipt Hog. You upload your receipts from grocery stores and you get “coins” for each receipt. The more receipts you upload, the more coins you can earn per receipt. The amount of items you purchase or amount of money you spend does not matter. Receipts go from 10 coins each, to 15 coins each, to 20 coins each, and then finally 25 coins each. You can receive cash for your receipts once you have enough coins – 1000 coins gets you $5, 1800 coins gets you $10.00, 3200 coins gets you $20, and 4500 coins gets you $30. Not bad for shopping as you normally would.

    • Samantha

      (And it’s free!)

    • Amy

Seem to only be available for iphones not Android! Bummer!

  34. Zosia

    Samantha, thanks! Lets try it!

  35. melissa

I am bummed…it is not even close to the “old” version of endorse. I miss the products you ‘endorsed’ and the way you could endorse a friends product. My offers included diapers and I don’t even have babies! I find receipt hog the same….easier to get ‘coins’ towards purchases. I guess my expectations were way too high…

  36. Toni

I was excited to see what the new offers would be once the current ones expired and well it loaded the same offers again that was available the week before and they aren’t items I even buy. So the same offers are available for half the month! I’m trying your program now Samantha!

  37. Jess

I’m new to endorse, just found out that you have to wait until $25 to cash out what a bummber. Biotta has a reasonable amount of $5.

  38. Jess

Revised comment! I just cashed out 0.80 so those comments about waiting to $25 are incorrect!! Love it super awesome

    • Tuyen

they said to me that $25 only in check, and with Paypal is no minimum payout.

  39. amy

is endorse still working? i can’t seem to get it to work, and can’t find it in the google app store.
