So, once again, it’s Saturday and time for another Sunday coupon insert preview! Below you will find a long list of coupons that reader, Carol, will be receiving in her Washington Post newspaper tomorrow, 8/26/2012. Thanks! And your binder looks greaaat! Wish my coupons would jump in mine! Have thought of starting one of my small ones (couponizer) just for $Tree usables. Would be much easier to carry in a smaller store, and could always carry along when going to a regular store if wanted. Would just make shopping at $Tree quicker and less hassle. Wondering if you had any thoughts on that.
I KNEW they would come out with a Magic Eraser mop coupon AFTER I bought one! lol…Oh well, never hurts to have 2 of something! 🙂

I have a somewhat silly question:
How do you go about removing the expired coupons so that you have a fresh supply at all times?
I used to keep my coupons in a binder but I was never able to come up with a good system for removing the expired ones. It seemed to take forever to look through all of them to find the expired ones. So I gave up on the binder and have gone back to the file method.
I have missed a lot of good deals since I have abandoned by coupon binder.

Hey Tasha! I know you asked Collin but I was having the same problem and I just wanted to let you know what worked for me. I started filing them in my binder by expiration date, so the coupons on top expire tomorrow and the coupons at the back of the binder expire sometime in 2015(!). It has saved me sooo much time and I’m a bit OCD so all the blank sleeves from the previous method were driving me crazy. This way everything is uniform and I just look up coupons using Collin’s database now, because it usually has the expiration date. It works great! If I’m looking for a particular coupon, I search for it in the database, then flip to, say, September 19 if that is the expiration, and voila! The best part is that because everything is in the same place for a long time you will begin to become familiar with where particular coupons are and more aware of which ones you have. Btw, i still organize by category when they all have the same expiration date (usually there are piles (yes, piles) of coupons that expire at the end of the month every month and they take up most of the pages for that month. You should definitely go back to the binder, it has helped me save SO much more! I hope this helps! Good luck!
I think it’s funny that the time I posted the previous comment was 9:19 and the date I used was September 19 (9/19!) and that happens to be my birthday! I’m subconsciously already thinking about it lol!
Hey Tasha, I’ve found that it’s easiest for me to take out the expired ones when I put away the new ones. So every Sunday or Monday I make the whole family help out, my mom and little brother and my son clip coupons and I organize them into my binder sections and put them away. (Even my 2yo daughter helps she throws away the clippings!) As I’m putting them away by section, say cereal, I just toss all the expired ones. Kind of like out w/the old and in w/the new! The binder is awesome, but I say do what works best for you. I contemplated doing what Stephanie above does, but it’s too complicated for me that way. I like to be able to flip quickly to my laundry section if I spot some on clearance in the store. HTH! 🙂
I use a difficult color highlighter for each month and highlight the expiration dates. For example, all coupons that expire in Aug are highlighted in blue. Then I can quickly pull all the blue highlighted coupons in Sept without having to actually read the dates! Super fast!
