Dollar Tree Accepting Manufacturer’s Coupons Starting 8/26 = Lots of Great Deals

Hip2Save may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you via trusted partners and affiliate links in this post. Prices and availability are accurate as of time posted. Read our full disclosure policy here.

As I mentioned earlier this week, Dollar Tree will begin accepting manufacturer’s coupons starting tomorrow, August 26th. WooHoo! 😀 For all the details about the Dollar Tree coupon policy, check out this post.

And to celebrate, I thought it was only appropriate to put together a list of all the great deals that you may be able to snag at your local Dollar Tree. Note that not all items may be available at your local store. Also, please be sure to check the sizes of each item before you head to the register to be sure that the manufacturer’s coupon does not exclude the size of the item found at Dollar Tree.

Wow!! This is such awesome news!!! I might be adding $ Tree to my shopping.

  2. mkw

I visited with a Dollar Store manager today – she said they wouldn’t be allowing “free” items with coupons. . . not sure how they will handle it. We’ll just have to wait and see. But the coupon thing is just great. . . .

    • anna

I dont understand how stores refuse coupons, if they are not doubling them, they are being reembursed the full amount of the coupon by manufacturer… am I wrong in assuming this? It always blows my mind.

  3. Macey

$1/2 POST CEREALS 6.2 oz or larger (INCLUDING Post Shredded Wheat) from the 7/22 SS Expires 9/2 How big are the cereal boxes there?

    • Let's Trade Coupons!

      9.25oz hth!

      • maceycoupon

        Cool, thanks 🙂

  4. Paula

How do we find out what dollar trees are taking them

    • molly

They said on their facebook that all stores will be taking them

  5. Brittany

    Thanks Collin!

  6. Shanon

I wish my Dollar Tree had Hefty bags, they only carry generic brands for their kitchen bags, paper products, etc.

    • maflies1

Actually as far as their generic storage food bags go, for the price, I was pleased. Of course I like the others better, but for the price-they were great and they had the extra large size that I had been looking all over many towns for. Yep, right in my own home town at $Tree.

  7. Aimee

Are there coupons without the size restrictions on the Softsoap Hand Soap and Refill? On my coupon I have 8oz or larger for the Hand Soap and 28oz or larger for the Refill. I’m pretty sure Dollar Tree only carries 5.5oz Hand Soap and 11.25oz Refills.

    • maflies1

You can check on “this” site at any time to see if there is a particular coupon available by going to the top of the page, just under the Hip2Save Coupon. On the Blue Bar underneath that is a row of Tabs, one of which is Coupons. If you just hold your mouse over the word Coupons, you will see Coupon Database-click on that. At the top left you can enter the word(s) of the product that you wish to look for and it will bring up all coupons for it. HTH

      • jc

thanks, i never really noticed those tabs. How convenient!

        • maflies1

Collin updates those and puts all kinds of great things in those tabs! Peek around. Fun. 🙂

  8. stacy

    This is great!!!

  9. maflies1

Thank you so much, Collin, for doing this match-up. What a trooper-we knew you’d come through. You just really have us spoiled. You know that don’t you? You need to take care of yourself and your family too. But we love you and sure do appreciate you. Cheers for Collin.!!!!

    • Donna Smith

yes I agree, Collin does have us spoiled. I use only this site for all the matchups. I really do appreciate all the work you do for us. I know it takes time away from your family so I hope you are taking care of them also. Family is the most important thing to us. (Coupons are 2nd).

  10. maflies1

Don’t know if my store has them, but someone said that they also have Sunday papers. 🙂 Now wouldn’t THAT be nice!

    • Jennifer

My Dollar Tree did carry Sunday papers for a while. Then the paper company said they were not making as much money selling them there. They were $1.50 everywhere else. Now they are no longer at dollar tree and went up to $2.00. Every Sunday you could see all the couponers lined up to get papers there LOL. They opened at 9am and would be sold out by like 9:15. It was nice while it lasted.

      • maflies1

        Rats!

      • Rachel

Jennifer, I am wondering if this was a NJ location you are talking about. The same thing happened at the one by me!

    • Julie

Yes, they have Sunday Papers at the Dollar Tree… that is uaually where I pick mine up!

    • des

Yes, that’s where I get my paper every Sunday because they’re just $1 compared to $2+ at Shoprite….

      • Queenjen87

Dollar Tree is where I go when I need extras too. Usually on P&G week. I get it delivered for $1 a week (7 days right now) buy only one copy. I look at what coupon I get. If I can use $10+ out of them, I’ll run and get 2-4 more copies.

        • maflies1

Where/how do you get a paper delivered for $1 a week, if you don’t mind sharing? Is that only for your area? Thanking you in advance for any info.

    • the beth

My local store carries both of the major metroplex Sunday newspapers. I’m not sure how much the one normally is, but the more major/popular of the 2 is $3 everywhere else. Can’t beat it for $1 at DT, the only place I get my papers now.

    • maflies1

Well, my local store in NW AR does NOT have Sunday papers. So glad for those of you that do. Mine are $2 a piece and had the SS and PG in them today. But I did get 2 pkgs of Hefty bags and a loaf of frozen garlic bread (butttered) for $2.10, after using (2) .55 Hefty Q. I was pleased. What surprised me was that I was the first customer that this cashier had had using coupons…at 12:15 p.m. after church. She was very nice about it, but just wanted to be sure she was doing it right so called for assistance, and I was very patient with her, so a win/win situation.

I think I may put aside some of my extra coupons and ask the clerks if they would like them. Perhaps some have young ‘uns, use personal care items I don’t, and other things that go in my extras. Maybe even put them in a little coupon holder or something, or have them sorted by food & non-food, and just pass them on. Would make me feel like I’m giving back a tad for what Collin has done for us & a thank you for them helping me at the store.

    • Valerie B.

My Dollar Tree carries Sunday papers for $1 but limit one per person!

      • Karen S

I asked last week at my Dollar Tree if they carried Sunday papers and If they were going to be taking coupons and the cashier laughed at both questions. I have not been back to that location yet to see if they are taking coupons. My Sunday paper went up recently to 3 dollars so I usually only get one delivered and one from my Mom.

  11. cdawnt

Thank you so much for putting this together! These stores should thank you for bringing them so many customers. I wouldn’t have the time to go in Dollar Tree with a huge binder and hunt deals, now I can run in and out with a list! I really appreciate all your hard work for us!

  12. Dino

Tip if ur coupon has a store logo such as redeem at walmart etc or if the coupon is over a dollar example save 1.50/1 or 1.50/2 coupon won’t work at dollar tree i personally ask the store manger

    • mia

spoke also to manager these will not be accepted. DT is doing this on a trial bases,so lets follow their guidelines.

  13. rn30032

the 1.50/2 should work and each item will be 25cents each

  14. Cindy

Went to Dollar Tree on Friday and asked about taking coupons. Cashier said I must have them mixed up with another store. Confused.

    • the beth

Wouldn’t be surprised if the regular workers aren’t informed yet. I’m finding there is still little to no coupon education/training at the stores I normally shop for my deals. DT would just be another one, I’m sure.

      • Valerie B.

Yes I agree the employees are still learning the rules and were confused themselves on the rules. It was slow going today but I’m sure they will get the hang of it soon!

  15. NCcouponista

Does anyone know how many packs are in the ocean spray fruit snacks? TIA!!

    • Candice Jaehn

      4! 🙂

  16. Ashley

You know we are cheap *frugal* when the dollar store just isn’t cheap enough 😉 lol Really excited for the free deoderant! The womens deals have been lacking lately. Thanks Collin 😀

    • Mo

You know, I have to be honest – before I even started couponing I’ve ALWAYS been too “frugal” to just take a dollar store at face value. Some of their things are overpriced – especially things like boxes of zip-top bags, paper towels, etc. – you have to look at how much you’re getting with those – it might be a dollar for a box of baggies, but if you only have 10 baggies in the box – compared to bigger boxes of name brand baggies at Walmart, say, – those are some pretty pricey bags – that’ll just end up in the trash right?! 😀

  17. kelly

Also, they are only excepting 2 internet coupons per transaction.

  18. Rachel

Any ideas for using the okay bars for anything I have like 20 already from the last freebies.

    • the beth

Heh, if you felt like dealing with it, you could probably turn them into liquid soap.

      • Lori

        Donate to a homeless shelter?

    • mary g.

      check pinterest 🙂

    • Stormy

Hi! This is the perfect soap to soak a bar in water overnight and in the morning, put the water in a spray bottle and the bar in the trash…..instant chemical-free insecticide! I’ve done this many times in the past.

    • Rachel

Making liquid soap didn’t work to runny I guess I could another bar or two

  19. astamps

So I’m confused will they not accept the coupon if it will make the item free?

    • Leah

They should accept it. What they mean by they do not accept coupons that have FREE on it. For example the Good&Natural bars that we got in that RedPlum. It said FREE and it had a box for the cashier to write the price. But today, I’m going to get a $1 Post Shredded Wheats Cereal and use my $1 coupon which will make it free and that is acceptable.

      HTH!

  20. Jen B

Pretty sure the Speed Stick coupon is a no go. Sizes at my Dollar Tree are 1.4 and 2.0 oz. The coupon excludes those sizes (and the 0.5oz).

    • JJ N Dana McFadden

At my Dollar Tree the Lady Speed Sticks were the wrong size but the mens one was a 1.8 oz size I got 4 for free today (Richmond, VA)

      • bhw

Which DT store? I am in Richmond too!

    • Annette

My store had 1.7oz and I got 3 free…. My cashier was great and was actually excited for me that I got them free!

  21. shanelle

i went to dollar tree this morning. i wish i could give good feedback on my coupon experience but i can’t. the cashier pretty much made an announcement that this was the first coupon of the day she did not know what to do. she called a manager when she came out she made it obvious that coupons were going to be a hassle and stated, “not this early in the morning with this” i need to report this store to corporate but i’ll just take my business elsewhere. i hope everyone else has a great time enjoying better customer service than i did.

    • Lori

      I had the same response!

    • Brenda M.

I was the first customer to use a coupon today at my local DT. The cashier called the Mgr to help her since it was her first. They were so nice and joked that we were making history, Dollar Tree is now accepting coupons!!!!! I got several great deals & one item FREE. I also buy my Sunday newspapers there every Sunday before church.

  22. cathy stesney

I was one of the first people in my Dollar Tree this morning. I grabbed everything I wanted! All my coupons were good, except for my $2/1 alka seltzer plus allergy coupons. I didn’t know (and neither did the cashiers!) if they were going to be able to adjust the value of the coupon down. So, I put them back. But other than that, my cashiers were very friendly & even though it was 9am, they didn’t complain about my coupons! I walked out having only spent $2, but I had to buy papers while I was there! I emailed corporate about adjusting coupon values accordingly, so hopefully I’ll find out soon so I can head back & use my coupons!!

    • I Love Shoes

I am sorry to hear about your experience. I would suggest not going out of your way to shop at any Dollar Tree. If their policy is to accept coupons, and you are purchasing the right item, I would say report them. Customer service is very awful and hopefully by reporting them they will invest in respectful employees. That is why I am liking online shopping more and more.

      • I Love Shoes

Sorry my comment was for cathy stesney..

    • maflies1

I also think that this should be reported because any of their stores that I have ever been in have had customer friendly cashiers and sales reps. I do not think that they would like for this to continue to happen and them not have a chance to rectify it-which they cannot do unless people like you report it. Please take the time to do it so that others do not continue to be treated so rudely. This coming from a former manager.

  23. amanda

Anyone have any similac or enfamil checks they don’t need? I have other coupons I could trade or send a stamp. Thanks! email chloe4489@gmail.com

  24. Jodie

I just want to say I know it sounds great to use coupons at this store but truly I can find better prices for products at other stores and then use my coupons, I guess it could be hit or miss for the dollar prices, but good luck shopping there I will also be looking to see if I can get any better deals from here.

  25. lezlie adams

I went today and purchased a few things, sally hansen nail polish -.50, werthers candy – .25, hefty bags -2 boxes – $1. Most of my mfg. coupons do not meet size restrictions on the coupons. Example the $1/1 speed stick deodrant excludes 2oz and under. My store only carries the 2oz and under, so no go.

  26. Andrea

My Dollar Tree (Athens, OH) has Ore-Ida steam and mash sweet potatoes in the freezer section. I was jazzed to get them for $1, but the possibility of using a coupon? Wowzers.

  27. lynn

went this morning and was told they will accept coupons under $1. have to be .99 or less and they won’t take internet printable.

they had a 1.8oz speed stick that is not included in the exclusions on the coupon so if your store will let you use the $1 q. look for the blue speed stick.

  28. Amy

Went to Dollar Tree this morning after church and took my time taking in all the items and matching them to coupons – 3 soft soap bodywashes for .50 cents each (the soft soap liquid soap and refills were not the correct size, but who says I can’t use bodywash for handsoap?). 2 Men’s Speedstick (1.8 oz was not excluded from my coupon)= FREE! 3 pack of dial basic soap for .65 cents. Pack of BIC Pens and BIC correction fluid for .50 each, 2 smuckers chocolate fudge topping (6 oz) .50 cents each. 3 Reach toothbrushes – .50 cents each, 3 boxes puffs tissues .75 cents each, Palmolive dish soap – 1 – 14 0z for .75 cents, 2 10 oz Ultras for .50 cents each, 3 boxes of fruit roll ups (4 ct) for .75 cents each 2 more boxes for .50 cents each. Got my papers and I am heading back out for 4 bars of Olay soap for free, and 3 tubes of colgate (there is one variety that is 4 oz in my store) for .25 each. The scotch tape was not magic tape in my store, and our store is small (live in a small town), but it was a great time exploring and shopping in a new way (also picked up 160 coffee filters for $1.00 – we were almost out anyway! Our town has rite aid only as far as good couponing stores, so this is a great opportunity to coupon more on a local level!

    • Amy

Meant to add that the cashier was ready and willing to learn the couponing policy – she checked with her manager about the printed coupons (I only had 1,limit is 2 printed ones per their policy). The lady behind me in line was also patient and seemed excited to see a “couponer.” I didn’t try any coupons over $1.00 and I was very careful on matching items & coupons to make it as smooth of a transaction as possible!

  29. mia

    CG lipsticks 1.00/1
    MAYBELLINE lipsticks 1.00/1
    ALMAY EYESHADOW 1.00/1
    AQUAFRESH TOOTHPASTE 1.00/1
PALMOLIVE DISH SOAP 50/1 or 75/1
    LYSOL TUB CLEANER 1.00/1
    CARESS BATH BAR 35/1
    AIR WICK SPRAY 1.00/1
    REACH DENTAL FLOSS 1.00/1

had a wonderful time hunting down the NAMEBRANDS. be sure to check ALL SIZE RESTRICTIONS. dont try and use the 2.50/1 or 1.50/1Q’S they will not take them. NO OVERAGE allowed. UP TO 1.00 q’s will be accepted. REMEMBER to break up your transactions if using INTERNET MANUFACTURE Q’S ONLY 2 ALLOWED PER TRANSACTION.

    • mia

      SORRY LYSOL TOLIET CLEANER

  30. Amanda

Went in dollar store excited to use coupons there but as stated above alot them didnt match bc of size restrictions and my store didnt carry softsoap bodywash bummed:(

  31. Ruth

My DT said you could only use one MQ per brand per transaction. So no four like MQ. Said I could leave and come back and do another transaction. Not worth the hassle.

  32. MEG

Hello…I was able to get 5 boxes of Post cereal today for FREE and I didn’t pay any tax. The sales associated was really hesitant to give me the products for free. I argued with her in a calm manner 🙂 so I got my way. I was going to ask her if they have more cereal in the back because I have 5 more coupons but I didnt since she wasnt in a good mood. Thanks :)!

  33. Kim

Bad experience at the Dollar Tree this morning. 🙁 The cashier was unaware of the coupon policy, store manager called, she had to call district manager for help taking coupons … after selecting my merchandise, waiting 15 minutes for store employees to come to an agreement on coupons, I was they were not taking the internet printed coupons because I didn’t print them on plain white copy paper. I had printed some on notebook paper and some on off white card stock paper … sigh … big headache and time consuming. They considered my coupons “duplicates” because they were not on white paper. I’m just getting into couponing and was really excited about the Dollar Tree – but after so much wasted time, I’m frustrated and wondering if it’s worth it?! I only have the weekends off to coupon and feel like I’ve wasted most of my day for nothing. Grrrrrrr!

  34. Adriana

I went to my local Dollar Tree and tried getting the softsoap bodywashes and the cashiers said I couldn’t use the $1/2 coupon because it didn’t match the size restrictions on the photo. I calmly explained to her the softsoap bodywash did not have any size restrictions. I didn’t really feel like arguing with them, I was thrilled to see the store accepting coupons but now not so much anymore.

  35. Marvella

My store downtown Portland, or(on burnside) did’t have much.
    Mostly off brand generic items.
I did find some polident that worked with the Internet coupons, cashier studied closely, Free!!

You have to watch the quanity on some things, like the hefty bags.
Only 8 per box/half of the normal size…Free is fine, but if we are paying make sure you are really getting a good deal.

  36. stacia

i was able to get the softsoap body wash for 50 cents. I got some Lady’s Speed Stick and Colgate Wisps for free, but used the coupon that came in the Colgate boxes a couple months ago. Also some fruit roll ups, used the 75 cents off 2 boxes. Comes to 15 cents per roll-up….would have been 21 cents per roll-up if bought at Walmart. I wanted to buy the Alka Seltzer Allergy, but they wouldn’t take the $2 off coupon. And they said they would not take any internet coupons.

  37. Ashley

I just went to my local dollar tree and they were very helpful and nice, however the manager said I wasn’t allowed to use 1.00 off coupons so when I asked to have the items taken off they said they couldn’t because a coupon had already been applied (to a different item). Does anyone know if Dollar Tree is allowed to use 1.00 off coupons? And how would I go about using them?

    • Qpon Saving Mommas

I would report on this one to the corporate company.

  38. ashley

thought i would add what their policy states
IN-STORE COUPON ACCEPTANCE: GUIDELINES & LIMITATIONS
1.Only original and intact manufacturers’ coupons will be accepted. Retailer-specific coupons will not be accepted.
2.Coupons are void if copied, scanned, or if they have been altered in any way.
3.Only two (2) print-at-home Internet coupons may be redeemed per transaction.
4.We are unable to accept coupons for “Free” items with no purchase requirements or where the amount for the product is blank.
5.Coupons can only be used in stores and must be presented at time of purchase. Coupons cannot be redeemed for cash at a later time.
6.Coupons will not be accepted without the purchase of the item specified and are subject to the terms listed (e.g. expiration date, size, limitations, quantity, etc.).
7.Coupons cannot be redeemed for more than the purchase price of the item.
8.Only one (1) manufacturer’s coupon will be accepted per item.
9.Management has the right to refuse any coupon or otherwise limit quantities.

  39. Valerie B.

I got 2 Speed Stick free, 2 Colgate toothpaste free, 2 Colgate kids toothbrushes free, 2 Colgate adult toothpaste for .25 each, four Nestle Pure Life 6 packs for .50 each, and 6 Hefty slider bags for .50 each! It’s so fun! I’m going back to get the Libby’s and some more Colgate items soon! I love reading what deals others are getting!

  40. Katie

Apparently the good experience we had at DT morning was in the minority. Too bad! 🙁 We went to the store in Midvale (Salt Lake), UT. They did seem to be out of a couple of the items we were after, but it’s a smaller store to begin with, too. The cashier was super friendly though, and told us that she thought it was so exciting that they’re taking coupons now! She did have to call someone over to be sure she rang them up correctly, but everything went smoothly after that. We will be very likely to shop there more often with the acceptance of coupons and the positive experience today.

  41. nancy

I went today and got 3 Shredded Wheat, Kleenex, and the Olay soap for free. They even let me use 3 Shredded Wheat coupons I had printed because they said “manufacturer” on them. They did have a little trouble figuring out how to key in the coupons, but I was the first one using them there. Will be going back….

  42. Debbie Young

I made a special trip to dollar tree today and was disasppointed because alot of my coupons didn’t match up witht the size and they told me that they wouldn’t take my internet coupons, even though their policy said they take up to two. I didn’t have the policy printed out to show them. I ended up just getting one box of cereal. Definetly not worth a special trip.

  43. Bethany R.

Went to 2 separate DTs today. One took my coupons and was pleased that I found such great deals! Got cereal & speed stick for free. I went to another, smaller DT close to my home. Basically got yelled at by management for trying to get a free bar of soap :Z She said they do not accept items that are $1/1 because it would be free. I very kindly tried to explain this to her….she was NOT having it, so I will no longer go here, but go to the friendly people at the other DT 🙂

  44. e

I talked to the store manager at the dollar tree and she told me that they won’t take $1 off coupons of any kind just 75 cents and under.

    • MEG

This is what the coupon policy said in number 7 ” Coupons cannot be redeemed for more than the purchase price of the item.” In my understanding, if a product cost $1 and the coupon is $1.25 then you cant use the coupon. If an item cost $1 and the coupon is $1 then you should be able to use the coupon. I I went to the store today and the manager was hesitant to accept my coupons but i showed her the coupon policy and she finally gave up. I was able to get 5 post cereal for free :). If the manager still say no to you, I would call corporate and complain. Make sure you get her name. I hope this helps 🙂

  45. Lisa

I normally go to the Dollar Tree once a week anyway, so while I was in there today there was one item (palmolive) that I was going to use a coupon on. However, the lady at the register said she knew they were going to start taking coupons, but she didn’t know when. I was all smiles telling her it was today! 🙂 She just looked around with a puzzled look on her face and basically asked me to save my coupon and use it at a later time. Since I was only using one coupon I said to just forget it. How disappointing. To top it off, when I was leaving the store, another employee was taking his break two feet from the door and was smoking up a storm. I went to their website and complained.

went today. Got yelled at by manager. Even worse they refused to open other lanes sooo I got yelled at in front of a line of 6-7 different customers and their families. I was SUPER annoyed. I had stopped couponing because of this garbage. I was so excited because my town only has 3 places to coupon and now I was going to get a new place but FORGET IT. They said “these are printed off the internet. They can’t be” I pointed to the policy etc and tried explaining but they kept calling them copies (they weren’t they were in color and everything!) Stupid Dollartree. I HATE being humiliated in front of a line. So many dirty looks and people kept saying “it is just a dollar”

I had a similar experience when they told me they didn’t take coupons I had printed from the internet because they were illegal “copies.” I was really embarrassed and was firm in stating that they were not copies but were instead internet coupons I had printed off. She took them, but then said they would not take them anymore! I hope the coupon policy will be fixed really soon!

also I must note they had no idea they were supposed to be accepting coupons until I showed them the policy and they went to look at their emails. Then the woman kept saying “they don’t look the same as what is in the pictures” or “if it doesn’t scan thru see?” then “we don’t take coupons printed online” they were just looking to say no to me. It was ridiculous.

Went to DL yesterday and was told that they would not start accepting coupons until today. Found the Shredded Wheat, Speed Stick, Olay bar and Hefty slider bags(didn’t have the sandwich bags). I also found Lysol toilet bowl cleaner and I had a $1off of 2. This is a great buy. I end up saving my coupons to go back today.

I was so excited to go to DT because I had coupons for almost everything on your list. My DT here in Lake Havasu, AZ didn’t carry any of these products except for the Shredded Wheat. They would not accept my $1 coupon off. They said they will only accept coupons up to .99. I will call them today to clarify. Anyway, bummed out.
