Walgreens Deals 9/16-9/22

Hip2Save may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you via trusted partners and affiliate links in this post. Prices and availability are accurate as of time posted. Read our full disclosure policy here.

Well, as most of you know, 9/16, is the start of the new Walgreens Balance Rewards Program! Please head here to read all about it. Keep in mind that I am just as confused as you are regarding lots of the details… like whether or not the manufacturer’s coupons being used will deduct from the purchase amount needed to get certain rewards or if we’ll be able to get multiple rewards back on the same items purchased?!

I am planning to test deals on Sunday to really get a handle on this new Rewards program. Hopefully I’ll have a lot more info for you come Monday.

If you are a newbie to Walgreens shopping, make sure to check out my Walgreens Store guide. And if the coupon jargon below starts to confuse you, take some time to read through the Coupon Newbie section.

Also, as most of you know, Walgreens released a corporate coupon policy. You can view the policy here. Be sure to print a copy and bring it with you when you shop in case any issues should arise. You can also now print Walgreens Instant Value Coupons online here.*NOTE: If you can find the monthly coupon booklet in-store, save your printer ink.

Want to create your own custom printable shopping list?!
Simply click on the printer icon to the right of the post title and then follow the instructions to easily remove portions of the weekly deals that do not interest you. Then print and take with you to the store!

as a wasgs employee i can answer some of the questions about the care unlike register rewars u may buy as many as u want of the product inless it specficies limit on card and u will get all the points in one transaction i just did the cg mascara and got 14 thousand points all in one order and coupons did not affect it coupons should not affect the dollar amount say for instance buy 15 in coke get 2000 points as long as u spend 15 pre coupons your good it will be the same as the rr on that regurd this progam will be replacing rr and i like it better it easier quicker u dont have to do a thousand transactions if u want to buy mutlipes of something but im guessing people will not like it cause u cant roll no more which i never really did to much of a headache all i can say is give it a shot u may like it i do the points add up quickly

    • anna

walgreens rewards never rolled, you always had to be sure not to use a rr that was from the same product. Ie, 2 suave this week printed a $2 rr, but cant use it for next 2 suave or rr wouldn’t print. Right?! maybe I am missing something.

      • Carly

Sometimes they did roll. Not often; but sometimes… Also – not sure if this is completely correct, but one of the employees told me yesterday that the points are not available immediately (he didn’t know the time frame – later in the day? the next day?) – but at least not available to do an instant transaction right after.

    • Franni

How do I redeem the points? Do they print out like RR?

      • Carly

No, they’re printed on the bottom of your receipt and you can also see them online.

        • Carly

Which I personally don’t like… 🙁 There was just something about those RR in my wallet that made me happy… lol 🙂

          • Nicole

We went to our local Walgreens this afternoon and the balance rewards were already printing out on our receipt. You get them immediately. It gives your balance at the bottom of your receipt! 🙂

            • Sandy

But be careful how much you buy at the beginning…in the fine print it says if they deem that you are buying more than a “resonable amount” per household, they can void your points. 🙁

    • Ariel

what she meant by them not rolling is you cant use them to purchase something that has points and get those points. You could take a RR from another deal, use it to pay for something and get a RR back, but not use points and get points back. That make sense?

    • Tammy

Hi I have a question for you in regards to rr that have expired. Even by one day. Yesterday I had a rr that had expired. I didnt relize that I was off on what the date was. I thought it expired that day. The cashier told me that they will get fired if they have even one rr expired in the drawer. dont the stores get a certain amount of time to turn them in. I have never heard that before and I know a couple of our stores that never question the dates. I just accidentally had it expired but I would hate to see folks loose a job over it. Thanks for the info!

      • wags ba

unforantly what they said is true we are not allowed to take them past the date and the new registers will not even allow us to

  9. Megan

Thank you. I swear I have like 90-100 of these already. I got it all for free. I bought it from walgreens, target, walmart, and kmart. I have 5 computers and an ipod touch and ipad (you can print coupons from here because theres an app for it). Thanks again you are AWESOME!!! 😀

    • Megan

I was talking about the Glade deal :).

    • Candice

Megan what is the app to print coupons from my ipad. I’m going CRAZY trying to figure it since I got it last week.

      • Sherry

I would love to know what app allows u to print from the iPad as well.

        • amanda

          coupons.com app

          • Sandt

What browser do you use? My safari on my iPad won’t install the coupons.com print setup

            • Seth

You have to have a wireless printer. Most people that are able to print out coupons use a Kodak printer which allows them to print from iPhone and iPad.

            • Sandt

I do have a wireless printer, a Canon, that has AirPrint. The safari browser on my iPad won’t download the coupon printing package. Do you use a different browser?

            • Meg

If you go in the iPad app store, there is a coupons.com.

  10. Carol_R

    Thanks for the match-ups.

  11. Jennifer

Collin I can’t find the O Cedar coupon. I went to the page and scrolled down. I signed up for news and special offers. Does it come in an email?

    • Melissa

If you are using an ad blocker in Firefox, you won’t be able to see the coupon. It showed in Chrome for me.

  12. Kami

Ugg, no more register rewards that print out. 🙁 I loved useing those my local grocery store they see Walgreens as a competitor so I could take my RR and use them during a super doubles event. My two dollar RR becomes four dollars off my total, or everyday they double coupons .99 or less so I could take a .99 cent reward and have $1.98 off my total. Yep the good days are now over, sniff sniff.

    • Lisa

It looks to me like there are still RR’s that will print out for some deals.

      • noelchav

I went in yesterday and the cashier said there are still RR.

    • Sherry

Just curious what grocery store took ur Walgreens register rewards?

      • Jodi

I don’t know about Kami, but our Meijer’s took RR just like a regular coupons. Sad to see that go. 🙁

        • sara

          Harris Teeter takes them also

          • Kami

Hey Sherry, it is Harris Teeter that takes my register rewards. I love that store the will take coupons from competitor stores like a $5 off of $25, or a $10 off of $75 ect. Hopefully at least some of the items will produce register rewards.
Hey Sara, are you having fun with Super Doubles? I am!!! 🙂

            • Ketryna

My fred Meyer did the same. sad to see that go too. : (

            • Sherry

Thanks SO much Kami!! I go to Harris Teeter all the time & didn’t realize they would take register rewards! I’ve been loving the super doubles this week.

      • thelostpond

When I lived in Florida, the Titusville publix too Walgreens RR’s, last I heard they still do.

  13. ozzi

i had a strange shopping trip last week at walgreens. i bought 3 cottenelle wipes and got 3rr, which was supposed to happen. i then used the 3rr to buy two multipacks kleenex which was the four dollars and used 1 dollar ivc. and i got back 2rr which was also supposed to happen if u bought the kleenex separately.
the fact that i rolled my cottenelle rr’s to kleenex and still got kleenex rr. it was when i was using my cottonelle that i realized there was a tiny print that said kleenex on the top. im not complaining but i thought rr’s dont roll with the same company. i didnt even realize when i was buying it like if i rolled it and d second rr didnt print. did that happen to anyone else? im wondering?

    • Dianne

I did the same thing but…when I bought the cottonelle again and used the $2 Kleenex RR, the $3 RR for Cottonelle did not print. So, and this has never happened to me before on different amounts of RRs from the same manufacturer, the Cottonelle $3 will roll into the $2 Kleenex but NOT the other way around. So you would have to roll the $2 Kleenex into something else and then start over with the Cottonelle. It was very confusing to me yesterday when it happened to me.

      • Mayra

they do roll as long as they are different amount but if you are getting the same amount as the RR’s then it will not roll…

        • Ariel

mine rolled when i used the $2 RR pay for the kleenex but not when I used the Kleenex to pay for the cottonelle. That was a bummer….

  14. Glenn

On the kleenex deal you say to buy 6 boxes and use ( 3 ) .50 off 3 coups. That would mean you have to buy 9 boxes, right? I think you could only use ( 2 ) .50 off 3 coups for purchasing 6 boxes.

    • ozzi

yes but u will get only 1.50 instead of two but it is still a better deal

    • Diana

I think it is a typo. I think she meant 2 $.50 off coupons

  15. Deborah

Hi, pretty new to this. I read your explanation on how to make a shopping list of this, but I cannot see any printer icons. Am I missing something? Thank you so much for this wonderful list though. I will copy and paste it into Word and then print it for now.

    • lor

In case you did not find it.
Its under the online deals at the top of the page! good Luck

  16. rose

Thanks for the input on Balance Rewards Card. The cashiers at our WG haven’t been given any information and asked me to tell them what I find out!

  17. Jennifer

My skinny cow coupon is a buy 2 get one free coupon, not a bogo. Is it regional?

    • mel

yes, regional. my area got the bogo.

  18. Kristen

Email Dentek company asking for coupons and try will send you a whole page of awesome coupons that expire in 2014..they came within like 2 days!!!!

  19. Monica Sales-Bravo

I just Hope that They Don’t DOOO away with the RR program!!! I would hate for Walgreens to start being like CVS where they Limit everything!!!! I think that if you are well organized with your Coupons and RR you shouldn’t have any Problems Using your RR to keep buying other RR product’s.

  20. dani

regarding balance rewards points if they do not show up right away should be on your card no later then 3-5 days after purchase also starting in October a rewards membership will be required for all Walgreen sale prices and ad coupons and then just be aware of limits

  21. Kristen

I was going to do the Kleenex deal, but just noticed my in-ad coupon says limit 3 🙁

    • suzana

Most stores don’t enforce the limit. The coupon will take off the discount for as many as you buy too! so you can do it! good luck!

      • Kristen

My store is pretty good with coupons, but they do enforce the limits on the in-ad coupons 🙁 Oh well!

    • Deb

Just back & I could only get 3 kleenex in my deal.

    • Laney

My store let me do 7 boxes with limit 3 ignored. I even asked if it would go thru and she said yep! I guess computer doesn’t limit but if you get a cranky checker it will. Good luck!

  22. Nicole

I just got back from Walgreens and would like to share some information regarding the balance rewards program and register rewards. I signed up for the balance rewards program last week when it became available to sign up for online. Today when I went into the store I used my phone number to get rewards added to my card and was told that tomorrow, September 16th, I could link my balance rewards account to a card. Regarding register rewards, THEY ARE STILL PRINTING OUT! Just like before this card was put into place, register rewards are printing out from the catalina machine. Absolutely nothing is different about the register rewards besides the fact that you now have to have a balance rewards card to get the sale prices. THAT IS ALL! As far as the balance rewards go, we bought 10 packages of Stride iD gum in the same transaction, used 5 BOGO coupons from the 9/16 SS and still got our full 5,000 balance rewards. The balance rewards DO NOT take 3-5 days to be added to your card. That is only if you are ordering ONLINE. All of your balance reward point information shows up at the bottom of your receipt. One more thing – You cannot redeem balance to pay for a transaction where you should receive balance rewards and still get them! It’s the same concept as rolling register rewards, except for the fact that it is not brand specific. If you buy ANY items that should give you balance rewards and you decide to use balance rewards from prior transactions you WILL NOT receive your balance rewards for that transaction.

From what I experienced of that new balance rewards program tonight, I really liked how it worked. It made it MUCH less of a hassle to be able to check everything out at once, rather than having to do multiple transactions. My best suggestion to spend the least amount of money out of pocket would be to alternate between buying items that give register rewards and items that give you balance rewards. I hope my post helps clear up a lot of confusion about this new program. It’s definitely a little bit of a change, but I personally don’t think it’s nearly as bad as it’s being made out to be by some people. Give it a try and be patient and maybe you’ll end up liking it better than you thought you would! 🙂

    • Chelsea

Thank you for your input!! That information was SUPER HELPFUL!! I’ll be trying it out tomorrow morning. Thanks!!

      • Nicole

You’re very welcome! Anything I can do to make this as least confusing as possible 🙂

        • Marissa

THANK YOU SO MUCH! made the part about redeeming them totally clear to me with the scenario you used! I have a question tho. May you use balance rewards to pay for something with a RR like could you use 2,000 to “buy” the Chapstick and then get the 2 RR to print out?
also how do you “use” them, do they print out like ECB and Up Rewards?
          THANKS!

          • Nicole

You’re welcome! The minimum amount of balance rewards you can redeem at one time is 5,000 points, which equals $5.00. But yes, you can use balance rewards to buy something that prints out a register reward and it will print no problem! As far as redeeming them, my cashier asked me if I would like to redeem the maximum amount I could towards my overall total and they did it on the computer. Sorry I can’t be more help when it comes to that. I hope you have a successful shopping trip! 🙂

  23. Amy S

I may have missed this somewhere but can you use register rewards to pay for a purchase and still receive points?

    • Angela

I did and still got all the points I was supposed to get.

    • Sarah

Me too. Worked like a charm. As long as you use rewards points to pay for RR items and RR to pay for rewards points items it’s a breeze! Love the new program! I think I’ve got it down pat!

  24. Guest

How did you get your card?

  25. Angela

Just a heads up on a couple of things I saw this morning at Walgreens. The Lady Mitchum deodorant is paying 2000 points, not 1000. Also, keep an eye out on the Clear shampoo. Some of the men’s shampoos had 3.00 manufacturer peelies attached to the bottle!

    • lizzy

thank you for stating..i got extra points on 2 trips and couldnt figure out why but bought lady mitch both times so this must be it!

  26. mackyjane

The Glade Expressions Starter Kit is printing out 2 – $1 RR!

    • Ann

I had the same experience with the glade expressions starter kit !

    • Kimberly

I was just about to post that the same happened to me!! Woohoo for extra RR’s!!

    • Laney

I was wondering why I got more than one rr from glade today! Sweet

    • thelostpond

      Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!
I knew it did it last time it was on sale for $2.99 with RR’s and we had those $3 Q’s making them a $2 MM. I was wondering if it would this time too.
Because of your post, I was able to do the deal I just posted about below.

      • mackyjane

Yay! I love these great surprises!

  27. Laney

I just shopped walgreens and got 7 boxes Kleenex (100ct). Used 99c store coup and 2-40c off coupons. And got a $2rr. 60c/box Sweet deal! Also 2 gillette profusion razors 9.99 each. Used one $5 off (BOGO $5 off). And a $4/1 Got 10rr. So 2 razors for $1 !! My overall trip with other deals was $6 after rr and coupons! And I should have 1000 points racked up! Got gum deal, not seeing pts on receipt yet so we’ll see if it works!

    • Diana

Did you have a limit on your kleenex for the in-ad coupon?

      • Laney

No limit on Kleenex, cashier said would go through and it did as 7 @ 99c

  28. thelostpond

I just came from Walgreens. I bought 6 Glade Expressions Starter Kits (6 transactions), $2.99 – $2Q= .99 cents, and got back 2 $1 RR. Making a dollar on each.
    I then did 4 transactions…
    3 nice waters(limit 3) $1.99 each. $5.97 -(3) $1 RR’s =$2.97 for 3.

Now, we were not sure if it would give the sale price with the new card after the first limit of 3 or if I would only get points for the first 3.
We (cashier and myself) found out, that if there is a limit, if you only ring the limit in one transaction, in this case 3, then you will get all points. So after 4 transactions of 3 waters, I got 6000 points = $6.

Also, if you have Pharmacy card that gives you 10% for Nice products, you can use that too.

Where I live the sales tax is 9.75%, even on water.

    So my total out of pocket for 12 24pks water and 6 Glade Expressions with Q’s, points, and 10% Pharm card was $1.28 x 6 (Glade after q’s plus tax)= $7.68 + $3.45 (water after 3RR) + $3.45 (3 RR’s)- .60 from 1st water transaction (pharm card 10%) = $2.85 + $3.45 (3 RR’s)- .60 from 1st water transaction (pharm card 10%) = $2.85 +$3.45 (water after 3RR) = $20.28 OOP plus I have 6000 points, and .60 cents on pharm card. = $13.68

Not to bad for 12 24pks water and 6 glade sprays. 76 cents each. And it is nice to know that the pharmacy card works with the new card, and that the limits only mean in the same transaction.

I hope this helps, sorry this is so long.

    • thelostpond

Also, we did need all of the water, where I live the water is not drinkable, it taste like chemicles and causes cancer ( letters from water company).
The manager at the Walgreens I go to never limits water.

  29. Sandt

If we registered for the rewards program online, how do we get the card?

    • Nicole

When you go to your store ask them to link your phone number to a card!

  30. Kristie

The Halls didn’t ring up for me correctly. I didn’t notice til I got home.

  31. Sasha

I racked up 6,000 pts. this morning with my deals.Guess this is going to work out pretty nicely.

  32. Taraneh

so here’s my question, if i get the stride deal, can i only do it once per transaction to get those points? or can i buy 4 at once and get 2000 points?

    • Taraneh

just kidding, i saw someone comment about this earlier, mustve missed it!

  33. Franni

We have a new cashier lady at my Wags and she wondered where I got all my deals! I had 1 word! HIP2SAVE!

  34. MArissa

i have a question regarding “limits” it says “Walgreens reserves the right to limit points awarded with respect to any offer or promotion to reasonable household quantities.” So is there a limit to the deals if it is not stated or if there is no limit stated then you can get as many as you want?
I’m asking because not only do i have 4 walgreens really close to me i also usually pre order items that i want the week before. So for example IF i had ordered the stride gum deal say 20 of them. would i get the 10,000 points? or would there be a “limit” of how many rewards i could get.
    Thank you!

    • wags ba

shouldnt affect u esp if u pre order it to stop the shelf clearing it will only not work for u if the ad states limit of 2 per card ect other then that u good and u can do it all in one transaction and get all the points

  35. MArissa

    Also…..
Do you HAVE to use the rewards points in 5000 increments or once you get 5000 points and you only have like .99 left to pay you can use 1000 or your points and still have 4000 left.
Also is this like a gift card where it covers tax or like RR where you can only apply it to the subtotal.
    SO MANY QUESTIONS lol
    Thank you!!!

    • Sarah

Yes you have to use them in specific increments. Like 5000. My total yesterday was $7.– and I had 10,000 points. The register showed I could use 5,000 points to deduct $5.00 or 10,000 points to pay the balance. If you do the latter you will lose money. HTH

I bought 6 stride and 4 halls this morning. Used 3 bogo stride and 2 halls coupons. Only received 3000 points. Can anyone explain?

I had an issue with the stride gum not giving me points, but I later realized that I got some regular stride instead of stride ID. Trying to decide if I should go back and exchange them for the IDs, but that might be a bit much for $2. Especially since I was there 3 times yesterday! Lol

Well, it seems I did the same thing! oops. Thanks!

i did the same thing. But I returned my gum. My store didn’t sell the id gum

My wags had Lysol wipes marked $1.99 so with the rewards points and bogo 50% off I paid just under $11 for 9 canisters. Then I have the Mir for a free canister.

HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If i bought 2 different sets of herbal essence so i bought 2 conditioners and 2 shampoos is it going to print 2 different RR’s? Or is it one RR per purchase? PLEASE HELP ME!

    • Marissa

It’s always one RR PER transaction! (unless your buying 2 different RR in the same transaction)
      Example.
Blistex & herbal essence = 2 different RR
      2 hebal essence = 1 RR

      Hope that helps!

For anyone who lives in New England, we can get a better deal on the Kleenex! I somehow ended up with a $1/4 coupon (instead of $.50/3) in one of the papers! So my scenario is:

    Buy 7 boxes for $6.93.
    Use $1/4 and $.40/3 coupons.
    Pay $5.53, get $2RR for buying 7.
    Total = $3.53 (50 cents per box!)

So I’ve done the mitchum deal (got 2) and was going to go back for more with my other 2 coupons . I received 2000pts per deodorant, and the shelf was labeled as so. I just stopped at a diff location and the shelf is labeled all as 1000 rr…. I read one of the comments somewhere on hip2save here that someone else only received 1000 pts. Does anyone know if its definitely 2000 ? I checked online walgreens site and it says 2000 there as well. Why is one store here stating otherwise?? Maybe I’ll just try it and void it out if it doesn’t give the correct points… can’t hurt I guess.

Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy $4.99
    * Buy this product = 1,000 points (which equals a $1 reward)

Not sure if anyone else has come across this but I got 2 as there were $3/1 peelies (limit 2 coupons per visit as noted on coup) so got each for 1.99 – the reward so .99 and these are normally priced around $7 or more. Could be regional but I am in the UP of Michigan and there were a bunch… Just an FYI as sale ends in a couple days!

Is it possible to obtain more than one coupon for the gillette proglide razor, without having to buy another newspaper.
