I cannot find the coupon for this. Please help. Thanks!!!

  2. animity

Thanks for the heads-up. @Rachel, I don’t think it is a coupon just the monthly deal that everyone will get.

  3. Sarah

Just call your local studio and get booked for November.

  4. Shanna

I just booked my appt! I have been wanting to take an uber sheak pic with my son. Me in a evening gown and him in a tux! Excited to get this pic done for free!

Can I book the appointment online?

  6. lj

I’m excited about this because my baby is due the 7th. I wanted to do family pics to send with the christmas cards this year and thanks to the digital copy that comes free too, I’ll be able to create my own photo cards 🙂 And with the free photo paper I’ve been getting at Staples, I guess that means really cheap Christmas cards!!

Just so you know, I read the details about the digital. It is low resolution so probably will not work for photo cards. It’s meant to be emailed or posted on FB only.

    • Valerie

Definitely won’t be able to make photo cards out of the free digital print. I got one with my son’s school pics and it’s even a little fuzzy on my phone. Now scanning the 8×10 and uploading it to Walgreens.com is a different story 😉 That’s always my go to idea, I never pay for multiple prints because that’s what I do with them, and just make as many copies as I want.

I was so disappointed the last time I used them for portraits. They overbooked and it all felt very rushed. They tried to get my 2 year old and 3 month old in and out in 10 minutes and of course that doesn’t give much time to get anything good. May try for free but maybe in the middle of the week and not a saturday again.

I’ve used them for several sessions but at Christmas we also felt VERY rushed. My husband also went for a session with our little one once to surprise me with pics and he said that he was rushed that time too because someone was late for their appointment making everyone else then run behind and they were trying to get caught up.
If I use them again I will definitely try to make a weekday appointment and also make sure we get the pics we want without them rushing us.

Try a weekday early as possible. Tho last time I was the only one there for over an hour and they so did not have their act together. One person trying to answer the phone, get the studio read and take the pictures. It was such a hassle. I will try it again for the free pic.

I think its like that everywhere….I just had an awful experience at Sears this past weekend when I used my Groupon.

    • Cannielle

      Same here, awful!

  9. stacey penrod

Can i use the digital copy at walmart to make photo greeting cards?

  10. Christine

It says the digital image is low resolution. Does that mean it won’t work to make Christmas cards?

    • Danielle

The employee I spoke to say the will not make good re-prints. Maybe you can make a digital copy of the 8×10 and use that.

  11. Danielle

I just called to make an appointment and they told me this is not available and that it is an employee special for October. Is anyone else having trouble?

    • Megan C

I just called and the lady at the store said they had not received information on this deal yet and to bring any printed coupon with us. I explained that it was the JCP deal of the month and she said by that time, they’ll have info on it. Sounds like JCP sent the email to it’s customers before letting the portrait studios know about it.

      • Danielle

I called another store and they were aware of the deal. She also recommended I bring a copy of the deal with me. She informed me that the digital copy they provide you via email is not going to make good re-prints. That being said you may be able to make copies of the original 8×10 since we get a digital release, not sure, but hopefully. She explained this deal was sent to only a few email customers so make sure you bring a copy of the deal.

I think this freebie SOUNDS good but I can just imagine how crazy crowded the studios are going to be and they are VERY SLOW on a good day. I have been there in November before without this special going on and it was insane and rushed. A regular 8×10 at JC Penney only costs $4 anyway so this is not that great of a deal (you do get the sitting fees waived, so that’s a plus if you are not a portrait member). The digital image idea sucks you in but remember, it’s low resolution and probably only good for Facebook. I know that I personally would get sucked into buying much more – one 8×10 is not going to be enough if I am going to the trouble to get a family portrait. I plan on getting pics done in October (not sure if I’ll go to JCP or somewhere else) to avoid the holiday rush. Portrait Innovations charges $14.99 for a huge package (I believe you now get 2 10x13s, 2 8×10, 4 5×7, a bunch of 3×5’s and wallets), you get it same day, and there are no sitting fees. Of course, I would avoid going there once mid to late November comes around. My opinion – freebies are great, but my time is worth a lot, too! I’d rather pay slightly more for a good experience and more pictures.

  13. Dawn

Where can I get a copy of the official deal to bring into the studio with me?

  14. Breanne Green

I just went into my JCP that I usually go to for portraits. The one associate didn’t know anything about it, but the manager who I have take our photos did know. She said that the corporate office didn’t get the info out as soon as it should have and it has been being advertised before all the stores know about it. Try to book your appointment first thing in the morning or right when they come back for lunch, and during a weekday. They are only allowed to book for 10 or 15 min sessions. They are not the fanciest place, but if you can manage it during a non-peak time, it isn’t bad for free photos. The sheets are $4 now, but this deal has free sitting fees vs $9/person or whatever they are now.

If you buy at least 36 cards in November they should be .50 each so you will only have to pay about $18, which is a pretty good deal.

i just got my free family portrait today! i was truly amazed at how professional the people working there was and how fantastic the pictures came out! i will definitely be going back there. i had such a terrible experience with sears portrait, my husband and i was afraid to even bother. my husband really didn’t even want to do it and was in a bad mood until we got in front of the camera. but he was really impressed as well. and there was no pressure to buy anything extra. the picture (that is just so perfect, even hubby who hates family photos loves it) was completely free, no coupon needed or anything but like i said, we’ll definitely be back.

and as extra comparison to sears, even though we paid for extra prints, we don’t have the photos from there hung up at all. not the 10×30 and not the ones we paid for because they were that bad on top of the horrible customer service, waiting for a month without anyone letting me know the photos were ready and waiting on the phone for half an hour when i called to see if those photos were in.
