I just had my first adventure in canning this summer and it was soooo easy and soooo delicious! I may never buy store bought jelly or jam again. I made strawberry, peach and blueberry. I highly recommend a site called pickyourown.org. Good luck and have fun 🙂
My very first canning project was apple butter. Search for water bath canning recipes and that should give you some ideas. A good resource is the ball canning book and your local library might have a copy.

Had them in my cart and they all sold out in the few minutes I walked away to make lunch for my husband. 🙁 Could have really used more jars. We do a lot of canning and NEVER see jars on sale. They always disappear from the shelves at wal-mart when the season ends.
