Anyone have any ideas what to get my boys esp. for Christmas besides Legos (which they’ll get a couple of anyway), Hot Wheels cars (they each have SOOOO MANY!), puzzles (we have lots), train sets, clothing OR most of these CRA*** toys that will litter our home/break/not care about after 1 day)? They honestly don’t need anything, but also want to give a few things—nothing expensive, and we can’t afford a vacation/trip anywhere. Also don’t want to do the “donate” Christmas thing yet—but still want good quality toys that are not “more” of what we already have/ that they enjoy. Boys are 1, 3, 5 and 8. Also no video games…… tall order?? 😉 Thanks!

You can get so art supplies/coloringbooks get a basket or storage box from 1.00 store decorate it with paint. New pj a siderman dvd and book or hot coco set usually at wags.

how about an experience? We got our son in door skydiving last year, plus the ONE thing he really wanted and a stocking filled with fun stuff. Less is more in my book too!

I have an 8 yr old and it is challenging to come up with fresh ideas. Just going off what my little man likes, what about plushes or character sheets or slippers? Do they play Club Penguin? What about a 6 month membership?

These are some ideas from my own gift stockpile I’ve been gathering over the last year.

You sound exactly like me 🙂 I have 4 boys (6/9/11/12). For Christmas we are making a Lego table (refinishing a desk/table from craigslist and gluing the lego baseplates to it. found the idea on pinterest and it’s awesome!), movies are always fun and there are lots of coupons and good deals on those. Do your boys like to dress-up? My younger one loves to wear super hero costumes. Now is a great time to get cheap halloween costumes for that. A new snow sled. My boys LOVE these. Last year we got little mp3 players and headphones. They were less then $10 for both. You can then get $5 itunes gift cards for their stockings. My boys love getting movie money. I am making fun pillow cases this year. We got our boys treasure boxes one year. We found some wooden decor boxes at Ross actually and they are shaped like a pirate treasure box, finished and with locks. They all keep their most precious things inside. That was a great idea that year. Camping stuff is also fun, if you like that sort of thing. My boys sure do. We got sleeping bags and lanterns one year. My boys love flashlights. Disney CD’s. Target has these and they are really fun. If you’re into Disney 🙂 We are also making wall book holders for my boys so they can have a few books right by their beds to read at night. You just get a wooden wall spice rack (or make one yourself) and paint it and adhere to the wall. fill with books and you can even get those cute little book lights that are about $3 at Walmart. My boys are going to love this. Then get a couple of books too. My kids read every night 🙂 Book marks make cute stocking stuffers too. One year we got new lunch boxes and backpacks. We waited until then instead of getting new before school. A globe. Do you sew? Make a blanket of their favorite things. It is super easy. You only need to be able to sew a straight line 🙂 These were my boys favorite gifts last year. I even made some for my neices and nephews. Snuggies. Or something like it. The knock-off brands are much softer. We have them and they get used all the time while watching movies. Funny but true. A snowcone maker. They are on clearance now. Or a donut maker. My nephew is 7 and loves his. Donuts are his favorite food. Hope this helps you!! Merry Christmas!

I had to get the spiderman shooter thing for my son. He only asked for two things… and all the reviews said how it stinks… but that’s what he wants for x-mas… I got it on line … buy 1 get 1 40% off. So anticipating that that spiderman shooter toy will stink… I had to get him another one that shoots something else that had better reviews just so he won’t be so heartbroken.

Well, think of it as an inexpensive lesson in commercialism. 🙂 He may be disappointed this year, but in the future, he’ll realize that the marketing and the reality of these gimmicky toys are worlds apart and make different choices in the future.

just so you now , its a huge YMMV on using a coupon on a free item at fred meyers, some checkers will override it, some will refuse……it doesn’t state in their policy you can’t, but it doesn’t say you can either…..people were being denied at the fred meyers that i work at:) fyi

The Coos Bay Fred Meyers does not allow a $ off coupon on a free item.
