Amazon Prime: Monthly Memberships Only $7.99 Per Month (Great to Have for Christmas Gifts!)

Hip2Save may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you via trusted partners and affiliate links in this post. Prices and availability are accurate as of time posted. Read our full disclosure policy here.

UPDATE AGAIN: If this isn’t working for you in Internet Explorer try Firefox or Chrome or another web browser to see if this Amazon Prime offer shows up that way.

UPDATE: Sorry, all. From reading the comments, it appears this offer may only be available for select members. 🙁 I hope they change this to be available for everyone.

Yay! I’m so excited to let you know that just in time for the holidays, Amazon Prime is now offering up monthly memberships for just $7.99 per month! This is an exciting offer, considering that in the past the only option was an annual membership for $79. Plus, you can still score a FREE one month trial, which means if you sign up now, a $7.99 membership will last until after Christmas! 😀

An Amazon Prime Membership Includes:

*FREE 2-day Shipping on Items Sold By Amazon
No minimum purchase necessary! WooHoo!

*$3.99 Overnight Shipping
Love this as I sometimes procrastinate until the last minute! 😉

*Unlimited, instant streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows with Prime Instant Videos on hundreds of compatible devices including computers, TVs, Blu-ray players, game consoles, and set-top boxes.

*Thousands of books to borrow for free, as frequently as once a month, with no due dates through the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.

With all of the great Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Christmas deals coming up, now is the time to sign up! Also keep in mind that since there is no minimum purchase requirement for 2-day shipping, you can snag great deals without having to hit the $25 Super Saving Shipping Requirement. AND, since you can ship to other people with your Prime Membership, this will save you time and money that you won’t have to spend at the post office this holiday season!

*After your free trial, you will automatically be upgraded to a paid plan. If you do not wish to upgrade, go to ‘Your Account’ and select ‘Do not upgrade’ anytime during your free trial.

(Thanks, Emily!)

The monthly option doesn’t show up on my account

    • Holly

      Mine either

    • Alice

I contacted customer service and they said it’s only for “select” customers. They would not offer it to me. Maybe it’s because I used to have the Amazon mom membership.

      • Emily

I had amazon mom too, don’t go to the link using internet explorer. use chrome. It didn’t give me the offer in IE but it did in chrome, that’s what the other sites are saying to do as well. Use another browser.

  2. Laurie

    Mine either.

    • Emily

Use chrome or firefox. It does not work in IE

  3. mweyler

I don’t have that option either. I hear it is only offered selectively now…

    • Julie

It was on mine, but I haven’t had Amazon Prime for almost a year now.

  4. Betsy

I only have the option for $39/year because I have done a free Prime trial before.

    • Emily

  5. Victoria

I don’t have the option either. How did you get to this page?

    • Emily

Use a browser other than internet explorer

  6. Gina

Didn’t show up for me either 🙁

    • Emily

Use a browser other than internet explorer

  7. Christina

I had a free trial when I got my Kindle so it won’t let me get another trial, only the $79/year option 🙁

    • Emily

YOu can get the monthly plan though, just use chrome or firefox to open the link. It doesn’t work in internet explorer

    • Deb

I had a Kindle free trial and it offered me the $7.99

  8. Jane

I don’t see the option either:( I do have a one month free trial membership, but then the option is to pay for the 1 year for $79. (which by the way is less expensive than the monthly option)

  9. Jessica

I was able to get the monthly, but not the free trial because I’ve had prime in the past.

  10. Sharon

    Signed up. Thanks!

  11. Womenfest

When I click on Amazon Prime it takes me to $79/Year option and I cannot find a monthly option even when I type in free trial.

  12. andrea

This may be the wrong avenue, but we have Prime and don’t know how to stream it onto our TV – Does anyone know how to do this?

    • Sara

Is your TV wifi capable or are you using a device like Roku?

    • Laurie

That link still only took me to a page that offered the $79 a yr choice no monthly choices. I just got done with the free 30 day trial earlier this month.

  13. Stacy

I had the monthly option show up on my account, but was only able to add it in Google Chrome, not Internet Explorer.

    • Traci

Same here, the option was not there in IE but when I opened the link in Fire Fox it was!

  14. Gina

$7.99 a month is much more than $79 a year or do they let you cancel after using it for a month?

    • Karin

Says that you can cancel at anytime so perfect to get thru the Christmas shopping season 🙂

      • Gina

Just called; you can cancel after your free month trial membership if you qualify for one; not the $7.99 a month payment plan; so you end up paying $95.88 a year versus $79 🙁

        • Emily

but if you decide that you like it and want to upgrade to the yearly plan, they let you.

  15. kouponing

I feel very lucky I was able to get both the free trail and the monthly $7.99. I will use thru Christmas and if I find it worth it just continue on with it. Thanks so much for sharing Collin and thanks for all the work you and your crew do to provide all of us with such awesome deals, tips and info.

  16. Karin

I feel very lucky I was able to get both the free trial and the monthly membership. I will keep thru Christmas and if I find I use it a lot I will just continue on with it. Thanks so much Collin to you and your crew for all that you do for us passing along such great deals, tips and info.

  17. JoAnna

Try using an incognito window through Chrome—worked for me 🙂

    • debra

You are awesome! It worked incognito for me too! Thanks so much!

      • JoAnna

        Good deal–happy to help!

  18. Nikki

  19. Sallie

    I can’t get it either. 🙁

    • Emily

Try chrome or firefox. It doesn’t work in internet explorer

  20. Mandy B

Thanks for posting this! I do so much shopping on Amazon! I was able to get it.

    • Lisa

I read a Wall Street review on amazon prime a few months ago the review wasn’t too favorable. The article primarily discussed how amazon had let some of its moms down by reducing the savings available on some services & items, and how the monthly fee was more than the yearly fee. With that said I use amazon mom. I love it….. Free 2 day shipping already awesome w the hoklidays. You can get a free 60 day trial. 🙂

      • Sue

I was able to get a free 90 day Amazon Mom trial.

  21. melanie

Thanks Collin I was able to get the free trial membership, perfect for Christmas. Thanks for posting!

  22. debra

Thanks to JoAnna up the wall. If you use Google Chrome you can get it. Just open a new incognito window. Open Hip2Save then click her link. It asked me to sign in and voila! The offer was there! Awesome!

    • Karen S

      Did the same thing,,,,got it!!

    • JoAnna

      🙂 Happy to help!

  23. Lisa

My sister was just talking about Amazon prime this weekend, so I sent her this post and she got the great deal! She was very excited and thankful! Thank you! 🙂

  24. Melissa S.

That link worked 4 me using safari on my iPhone:D! I’ve tried b4 on my laptop and nothing worked. I got the free trial since I haven’t been a prime member n a couple of years and the 7.99 a month. I know it’s a little more but easier 4 me monthly than 1 big payment. Thank u!!!

  25. Jennifer M

I signed up for prime after having a free year through amazon mom. I use it all the time. More so because I have gift cards from swagbucks 🙂 I order lawnmower parts, dvd deals, toys, fishtank chemicals, the list goes on and on. It is well worth it to me to get things without having to do the $25 min for free shipping and get it in two days instead of 5 (half the time it is one day lol) I love prime. Now I just need a blueray that streams amazon to watch the stuff that is free 😉

  26. cassie

It was only showing the $79 offer in multiple browsers for me until I cancelled my AmazonMom membership, then the $7.99 option came up.

  27. debscvlinks

It offered me the $7.99 a month membership, but not the month free trial.. I still got it though as shipping for one item can cost that much and I have a Kindle so I like to borrow books!

  28. Heather

Prime is overrated anyway. I won’t be renewing. They keep changing it. The new add-on program is bogus, and now the subscribe and save items can only be shipped once per month. Sorry to be a kill joy but if it doesn’t work for you, don’t be down.

  29. Chrissy

Worked quick and easy for me. Used Chrome. Had no problems. Good luck

  30. Deb

I think for $8 a month thru Christmas is way worth it! Shipping alone for most items is more than that! AND you can share with 4 family members. they say same household but I share with a friend with no issue!

    • Emily

Agreed! I shared it with my mom

  31. Cara

I used chrome and it worked! Whoo hoo! Thanks everyone!

  32. ashlee

I used Chrome also and it worked for me. It wouldn’t let me do it in Firefox.

  33. Patricia

I got through to the free month trial on IE, but I have a Kindle account. Maybe that makes the difference. I think I will sign up for the free month and then cancel after I finish my Christmas shopping. Thanks, Collin. You definitely provide a great service.

  34. Patty

This maybe a stupid question, how can one find out when one’s membership expires?

    • JoAnna

Check your Prime account information. Go to “your account”, then under the settings section you choose “manage prime membership”–the info will be there in green (at least it was for me). Hope that helps 🙂

  35. Carrie

Thanks Collin! Was able to get the deal on FireFox. SO excited for all of the amazon deals you’ve been posting now! 😉

  36. Mandy B

This is weird. I was charged $8.55? I just saw it on my bank statement. Anyone else?
