I went to cvs yesterday to use my $4 off $20 coupon cvs emailed me and the little red machine spit out a $5 off of a lumene purchase so if u combine those two with the lumene spend $30 get $5 deal and use those $4 off of any lumene product (excludes travel sizes) it makes for a MM!!!

Abigail: I experience the same thing yesterday I wanted to get rainchecks for all the food items but my cashier said they were not going to issue rainchecks on the free items because is just a first come basis thing and that is in fairhope,Al store, i was disappointed but i guess next time i’ll get there earlier to get the free items,don’t get me wrong i love my store in fairhope everyone is nice and helpful and unlike campanita’s manager this manager is great!

I went tonight and they were out of half of the stuff. I went with $20 ECB and walked out with $7.87 ECB, as well as 2 Pot of Gold boxes, 2 Aveeno Eczema lotions and a bunch of the free stuff. Good sale! I’m going to return the South Beach Diet Bars tomorrow so I can use the new coupon that came out tonight because my store is really good about letting me do that. I knew I should have waited until tomorrow but I didn’t want everything to be gone!

My store had most of the items I was looking for, however, because of the great sales, I was told by the manager that they will not issue rain checks this week. Are other people experiencing this problem? If not, what can I do about it? Is there a corporate policy regarding rain checks or is it store to store? Thanks!

All cuponers us! Should get to cvs early on thursday! The cvs ad at store doesn’t have the 25% off on their pages! They got this little papers with a 25% off to use thursday-friday non sale items! So, whoever gets there early gets one and maybe one at red machine for 2 25% off! I know, because since, I’m going out town my cvs manager gave their ad and a 25% off for me! And the cashiers & managers will get in a few days this cupons for them for family and friends with a 30% off to use Dec 1 and Dec2, so, if u all have a friend cashier that considers u her friend she may share with u all.

Today I did not have a good experience at CVS, my store changed the manager again… and this one does not look like he knows a lot about coupons (it was not like I was trying to get 10 Refreshers and trying to use 10 coupons clearing the shelves). I do not like to complain and make a big deal but this time I believe that I am correct, I just sent an email explaining what happened and I will call tomorrow. Here is the email:

“I was at the store tonight and tried to used 2 $1 coupons for 2 Starbucks Refreshers but the new manager told me that I could only use 1. He read the coupon and said that it was one coupon per purchase, I tried to explain that it’s one coupon per purchase and not one per transaction, but he said no, I said that is fine, I’ll just take one instead of two.
I told him that none of the cashiers/managers of that particular store had never told me that, I have been couponing for 3 years and been a loyal customer to that particular CVS, the workers are pretty nice and helpful, but now with this new manager I am thinking of not going back when he is working, I always try to follow the rules and never misuse coupons. I told the manager that I will call CS just to make sure that I am wrong and that he was correct, he said that it was fine and wrote his name on the back of a paper (he wrote Franie). I was there to get all the great savings from this week but most of the items were out of stock:( “

I have wondered about this too. Another thing I am thinking is their items are very overpriced to start with. Things on sale at CVS are sometimes still cheaper at Wal-Mart/Target. Not to say we would buy those…but it still may fool others . And, we are getting the items free, but the coupons are being reimbursed by the manu., so CVS is still getting that money.

I agree, when in doubt ask the cashiers first coz anyways we are getting a lot for free… Makes me feel so good when I’m doing it right and going home earning money with EB. On my charmin I was able to use the .25cents of fr 10-15 pg and on the smaller size gillette shaving gel the $2.37 I was able to use the $1 off fr pg 10-28, but again I asked the cashiers first if these items are trial sizes (coz i honestly don’t know either). Coz sometimes it doesn’t mean that a smaller size or a single item is the trial/travel size.

That’s what DH says… couponers are not helping the economy. I disagree. We create cash flow and jobs with coupons. As far as how CVS makes money, we are a very small percentage. There are so many people who only buy what they need and don’t even have reward cards… gasp! They offset our spending habits easily. LOL!

Just an FYI: the Thermacare & Command Q’s did not work. Thermacare specifies “no trial size” and the Patch on sale IS trial size. Also, I tried the Command hook & it was rejected by the register. I did use the Right Guard, Children’s Advil, & Glade Plug-Ins Q’s without issue though!

There is a Carmex display near the front registers and attached to the display is a tear-off pad of $1/1 Carmex. I didn’t want to be a piggy, so I only took 4 and got 3 for free. I saved a coupon to bring to my daughter, but when I looked at the coupon at home, it was for a bigger size. I felt bad for about 2 seconds because I thought WTH? Why would they attach the coupons to that display!!??!! Geez!!!

PS…I started with about $35 in ecb’s and bought over $100 worth in 3 transactions and came home with $55 in ecb’s. And I didn’t pay a penny OOP.

PSS…I have a question: Can anyone tell me how in the world CVS is making any money from couponers like me? I mean I did buy some other things, but I paid with my ECB’s. Just curious. THanks for any replies

Some extra deals that I noticed while I was there. The command hooks had a 50 cent Q in them, and I love these so I will buy more for 49 cents each. Even better the Somnopure Sleep tabs had a $5 Q with no size restriction, the cashier price adjusted the Q to match the price (1.99) so it ended up being a 1.99 moneymaker after the ECB.

great deals this week!!! love it! store i went to today (around 1pm) had plenty of everything i wanted. (all freebies!) i had $10 & $2 ECB from last week. so i rolled them, spending $1.22 oop and got back $16+!! even after paying tax, i still made over $3 & got many items! yay!!!
btw, that command IP for $1 off didn’t work for me, since the sale price is .99. but i still used the .50Q!

Some things were well stocked, others not so well. It seems the more expensive items, like the Pur absorb, Collagen and Nasal Ease were not given much shelf space so there were only a few of each, while items like the Nips, Mac’n'Cheese, & Cepacol were.

Just because the tags aren’t out doesn’t mean the item isn’t in the system as being on sale. All you had to do was either have the cashier price ck or scan the item at the kiosk. Now you take the chance of the items being out of stock. I would have taken the chance and bought the stuff anyway b/c the sale date in the as says 11/18.

I did not do every free ECB deal-no Starbucks (because they were the only thing sold out), diabetes monitor, sleep med, allergy nose spray or the feet cleaner but I didn’t want/or need these items and wanted to keep my OOP down.

Just got back from CVS! Great deals!

As a head ups, when I scanned my ExtraCare Card I got a coupon for $3 off Playtex tampons (36 count or higher).
36-40 count is on sale this week for $7.99 with a $4 ECB. So $3.99 out of pocket and $4 ECB.
Love free tampons! Such an annoying this to have to spend money on….

Loved the trip to CVS this week. It was like black friday couponing this week. There were at least 10 of us standing outside waiting for our CVS here in OHio to open at 8am. Then it was a made dash inside lol LOVE TO COUPON!!!

Last year the sale (also super awesome) ran from Thanksgiving through Saturday, and I went all three days to keep getting items (so I wouldn’t have to spend as much out of pocket or irritate a cashier by continually doing transactions), and they never really ran out of stuff! It looks like this year more people know about the sales, so it may not be as great, but I’m hoping so! Did you get your stuff?

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but I had a coupon for $1 off any U by Kotex. It came with a sample in the mail and didn’t exclude the liners, like the coupon in the paper did. Just got home from my most awesome trip ever! Pre-coup total of $51, post coupon total of $3.29! I started with 11 EB and ended with like 26 or 28. Sweet!

I was just wondering if ECB’s can be used on entertainment gift cards. I know they can’t be used on CVS gift cards. I know Target rings up the entertainment gift cards differently than their own store gift cards, so the rules are different for the different types of cards. I was wondering if CVS was the same way. My guess is no, but I figured I should ask before assuming.

Paid $20.86 oop and received back $23.69 in ECB. Only a few shoppers in the store and found everything I was looking for. They had many of the items up by the register and on end caps. Cashier said I had the longest string of ECB’s of the day so far!

Yes, they do. I used to work for CVS. They will get a truck in at some point this week. Some CVS’ weren’t given enough heads up on the sale to place an extra large order. I was told by a CVS employee that if they didn’t get what I wanted in by Thursday, to bring the ad in and they would give me a raincheck. Call your CVS to ask when their truck comes in.

Thermacare: Unfortunately the Thermacare coupon isn’t supposed to work. It says Trial Size right on the box and the coupon excludes trial sizes. If your cashier doesn’t catch it, it will work but mine did and reversed the coupon. I didn’t realize this until the cashier brought it to my attention.

This is my 1st experience w/ big ad sales like this!!! All I can say is I was very thrilled to have gone…the cashiers and manager were very nice and helpful! I paid $8.06 for 1st transaction…rolled ecbs and pd $0.23 for 2nd transaction and ended with paying $0.24 for last transaction and still have $9.00 for next trip! Thank you SOOOOO much Colin….you are the reason I started couponing!

Hey Kellie, next time think about breaking your purchase up. I did 3separate ones cause no one was in the store & paid mostly tax by rolling one set to another. A lot of the clerks will hrlp you do that. Mine get a kick out of seeing how low I can get it.

I use to buy all of my kiddos diapers and household/personal care stuff at Walmart. I never shopped at the drugstores because like you I thought the prices would be high. I never knew about ECB or RR or UP’s…then I discovered Collin’s awesome site. Wow, now I buy almost all of my stuff at the drugstores and I roll my rewards one week to the next. I love it. From what I see the only item getting extra bucks now and getting extra bucks starting Thursday is the Pepsi/Mtn. Dew 12 packs deal. Unless I’m missing something. All new extra bucks deals start on Thursday and the ones in effect now end on the 21st or Wed. Hope that makes sense.

i just got back from my CVS. amazing deals. i got almost everything I wanted with the exception of the children’s advil and hot wheels car. manager was nice and gave me a raincheck. i spent $0.87 oop (had $10 ECB to begin with) and got back nearly
$10 ECB. Love it. I went at close to 6am and the store was empty. Didn’t have my kiddos with me so I was able to grab stuff a lot faster. CVS is definately the place to be this week!!!

Good luck getting through to corp. I work for cvs and we’ve complained for years about people with multiple cards. They usually just tell us to let them go ahead and have more cards and that our “solution” is to just order more product. Issue with ordering more is that there’s a tendency to undership what we actually order…. It drives me crazy, I see people with a card for literally every family member including the pet goldfishes, but if my husband were to get a card of his own again, it could be grounds for termination if I ever used it for him.

Collin, I just love your site. If it weren’t for these posts I would never know about all these deals. Before I started reading your site I refuse to shop at cvs, walgreens, and rite aid because I thought their prices were too high, but now I get things there way cheaper than other stores.

I went to my cvs this morning and did all the free deals and my cvs was awesome. They had things pretty much organized and even had an employee walking around helping people find items. And all the other customers were friendly and helpful to each other. Made me smile seeing people being so nice to one another.

No brand or manufacturer restrictions on ECBs. Much easier than Walgreens, in my opinion. If they have a limit of more than one, you can even use roll the ECB on the same item.

I made my trip (Las Vegas) and got there just after midnight, noone else was there. I am in the process of teaching my 18 year old daughter the ropes, so it was nice noone was there. We was able to take our time and get the items and look through everything, compare coupons with the ad, etc. We each had a cart, followed the rules. Our receipts were so long. LOL. The cashier was great and patient with us. Best experience I have had, especially with such great deals!!

i’d definitely report that to corporate since thats technically against the rules set up by them. that’s really not right and that’s part of the reason i think extracare cards are put in place, so jerks like that can’t clear the shelves.
hopefully theres another nearby location you can go to. if not, some CVS locations allow you to get rainchecks for the items.

My store usually has a lot of couponers who show up at abou 10 pm waiting for the midnight load.

There was only one other shopper for the ad.

It was the nicest checkout I have EVER! had. The store staff walked me around the store to show me where the items I was interested in were.

It was the nicest holiday “black Friday CVS” shopping I’ve ever had.

Way to go my favorite Arizona CVS.

how can 2 people clear the shelves if there are limits on items with the extracare card? there were probably people in the store earlier. unless those people had more than one card per household which they’re not supposed to have (CVS definitely needs to be more strict about that) and I imagine trying to buy multiples of things with different cards would get suspicious and raise eyebrows with cashiers.

I was shocked to not see anyone in the stores at midnight. Last year the CVS I went to was PACKED. I’m not complaining though! The lady working in the pharmacy was so friendly she had come out to help us find where everything was. I had fun teaching the lady who was working there how to get this stuff for free. I don’t think she shops there like I do, but she said she is gonna give it a try. All the couponers were helping each other locate things..it was fun! They had a couple of end caps with the products right on the shelves. Some of the things I had to search for though. No line at the register…so I didn’t feel rushed or nervous! Great late night at CVS hope you guys have the same luck!!

yeah, the command hook is easy to miss! I only saw it because another woman who was there the same time as me pointed them out. They’re in a little display at the front counter and if you ask, most of the store associates might not even know they’re there!

Frustrated!! Spoke to the store manager BEFORE going out, she said her 24 hr store will start at 11pm, Got there loaded up my cart started check out at 11:30pm and NOTHING rang up properly!! I had to show the cashier every sale item in the ad, I had TWO transactiosn to lower oop, it was busy like crazy and during my last transaction I forgot to give my coupons to the cashier!! Arrrrg! Each ECB had to be manually done and I can see where I’m missing a few. Sigh….but on the bright side I got everything on my list so I don’t have to worry about the shelves being empty in the morning when I clear this up.

I just made my CVS trip. My 24 hr store in OH didn’t start the sale until midnight. But I was the only one in the store which was great and the employee was super nice as we waited for the clock to strike midnight. Nothing came off for me with the 25% coupon (maybe perhaps because they were all sale/ECB items) so I ended up paying more out of pocket than I calculated however. But now I have lots of ECBs to use on my next trips!

Just because the Thermacare coupon “worked just fine” doesn’t mean you should use it. It clearly says that it excludes trial size, making what you did coupon fraud. Things like that are why many people think that ALL couponers commit fraud daily. Follow the rules and stop making the rest of us look bad, please!

I didn’t see the trial size printed on my box until after I got home, it was on the top of the box, not the front. I was just grabbing things on the end caps and putting them in my cart (our store was BUSY with shoppers tonight) and the coupon worked fine, no beep.

Are you sure it didn’t print? The limit on the Kleenex is 2 which is what your receipt is indicating. The Extra Buck deal is also for Sparkle paper towels, so perhaps the ECB you have says that instead?

The limit is 2. If you check the EB that printed you should have a $1 EB for them, it only means that you can purchase another one and it will give you one more EB.

The visine is on sale for $5.50 and you get back $1.50 ECB. You can use the $4 off CVS visine coupon and the $3.00 manuf. coupon. This make for a really good deal.

The thermacare coupon worked just fine. The command strip coupon gave a beep but b/c there’s no size restriction, it worked just fine. The charmin coupon worked. I didn’t try the listerine product b/c the one on sale wasn’t mentioned in the coupon Collin suggested and was also a smaller size. It probably would have worked, the other coupon she mentioned prints that it is good at walgreens only.

I took a gamble and was right – just like last week the greeting card deal works on the 99 cent cards making them FREE as well!

A lot of these things are just single use items, the command strip is one strip in a plastic baggie. But free is free. We got everything that our store had, three items weren’t carried by our store but everything was clumped together on end caps which made it really nice. The command strip was sitting at the register in a bucket.

I called my store to see if the sales started at midnight and he told me it started at 9pm. I got there and realized why everytime I get up in the morning and go to CVS they’re out of stock, at least 7 other people were in the store with me at 10:30pm and the cashier was tired of this sale already so it must have been a busy night. I feel like a CVS insider now that I know the sales start the night before! Sadly our magic coupon machine was out of paper.

Also, look in the hair tools section b/c they had some some stylers on sale for 75% off. I got a conair electric curling brush for 3.75.

depends. If the item is seasonal and only carried for this sale, then they probably won’t give you a RC (or they will and you’ll be holding onto it forever on the off chance they *might* get the item again!) Some of the items are always carried, like the South Beach bars, mac n cheese so you can get a RC on them.

Yes both are separate deals. So do both and you’ll get the ECB for each. CVS is MUCH easier than Walgreens to learn/do. Plus, they’re stock and substitutions is far better so you rarely need rain checks. (And if you do, you’ll get credit for the ECB, where Walgreens can’t credit you for RR.) You’ll love it!

In my experience, cvs store coupons have always scanned for the full value. I think 1 time a cashier overrode the amount. I always make sure to have other items in my order to cover the overage though.

I would be skeptical of any store that tells you the sale doesn’t start until 8am. I asked my store manager and he said midnight, but I called him out on it starting a little earlier on Saturday. He kind of laughed and said, “We aren’t supposed to tell anyone.” At 24hr stores if is usually around 10pm on Saturday.

just got back from cvs. 1st trans was $50.42 before tax used $10/$50 cvs and $40 ecb from last week paid 42 cents and got back $50 in ecb. 2nd trans was $54 before tax used $10/$50 and other coupons brought my total to $36, paid $36 in ecb from previous trans and got back $54 in ecb. so started with $40 ecb paid 42 cents got all the items and now i have $72 in ecb. that was fun

The $4 IP prints with a CVS barcode AND a Manuf bar code + all the Manuf remit info. Several grocery boards are treating it as a Manuf coupon, just redeemable only at CVS (in the t/c of the coupon, it does say redeem at food, drug or discount stores accepting coupons) I’m happy with it being a freebie, don’t need to be greedy and go for overage, there are plenty of other deals for that!

You can stack the CVS coupon with the mfg coupon. You can print a $1 off coupon from the visine website after you fill out your information, which will make the visine 50 cents and then you get back $1 ECB so you make 50 cents.

My 24 hour CVS always started the sales at Midnight. Then I learned that the manager on duty “loads” the new ad. Times vary. In my store the new ad loads when the manager on duty has “time” to load it.

Lost year for the Black Friday (Thursday Thanksgiving Sale) it was loaded at about 10 pm.

I asked at my store this year. The manager just said she would load it when she had time.

Clearly this is a store by store thing depending on when the manager chooses to “load” the next ad.

you should be honest and not let them give them to you for 2/$10. that wouldn’t be honest. even if your cashier would do it for the wrong price, you know that it is not right. they will change the price to the correct price if you tell them what happened. dont be a scammer!

hi, i have a question.
I got the RC for the Huggies deal from last week. (Buy $30 worth of products and get $10 ECB, with Huggies slip on diapers for 2/$20)
But the person who wrote the rain check made a mistake and write 2/$10. i just noticed when getting ready for the shoppig, so im not sure whether they will honor the raincheck for 2/$10 or 2/$20 or thay wont even accept the rain check,
please help

No, overage will not work anymore in MOST instances, sometimes it will go through as the full amount if you have other items in the transaction, but it is rare now (ahh I remember the days when always would) unless the cashier pushes it through so it would be a ymmv. If they are by the books they will only deduct for the price of the item.

This is different for all stores. It used to be that you could cross some of the weekly deals with the next week deals… but that pretty much stopped years ago. It really just depends on your store and when it is downloaded. 24hr stores would never apply to this because they never close so their sale starts at 12 AM

YMMV- the coupon excludes trial size. I have seen a Charmin “pocket pack,” which in my opinion is trial size, but they may try to say the single roll is trial size.

I looked at other coupon websites yesterday that already had the match up ready (I’ve been so antsy waiting for the coupon match up for this ad i just couldn’t wait) and they had that coupon listed. if it says ANY then you should be fine and as long as the register doesn’t beep usually the cashier won’t care

The 1ct Thermacare is considered “trial size”, so the $3/1 coupon is not valid on this item, please update.

Also, on the ILLY sale, there is a BOGO coupon in the Diabetes PDF as well (Sugar Free variety only), stacked with BOGO sale should mean 2 free ILLY SF Drinks.

I don’t think either LIsterine coupon will work. One is for 1.0 L size or Whitening, and the other is for Ultraclean. I guess it’s always possible those will be included in the sale, but the ad doesn’t include those types. Also, the ThermaCare coupon says “Except trial size.” Is the 1 ct. considered Trial size?
