And, check out some of the positive reviews on Amazon.com

I think this is a winner! Since getting an iPad2 and having to share it with DD, I’ve been looking for something that would be similar for just her to use. Voila Leapfrog saves the day with this fantastic new leappad. It is fully loaded with a still camera, video camera, microphone, durable shell and large, brilliant screen. The download on Mac for Leapfrog Connect was quick and easy (5 minutes.)

Our kids got these as gifts and they love them (4 and 5yrs). The interface is very kid friendly. They love the stylus and how it controls all the features. The best game to start with is the Mr. Pencil Saves Doodleberg, as it teaches how to use the stylus and also basic things the LeapPad can do. I would definitely pick this over an iPad for young kids due to simply misdirection with the iPads. They tend to take kids out of apps to get them to buy more things (ie in app purchases). With the LeapPad only the parents can buy additional material unless your child knows how to use a computer.

Wow, I’m excited I jumped on the K-mart deal!

  • michelle says:

We LOVE our Leap Pads! While all the Hip2Savers are at it, have them toss the App card in their carts too. $20 worth of apps for $15 (as of right now). The card ships free too. What a great deal–the device, the cover, and the card all for less than the original price of the device itself!!

    • Anna says:

Thank you! Are the games and books expensive?

      • michelle says:

I’ve become really diligent about watching for sales cuz yes, that stuff is PRICEY. If you do get the LeapPad, head over to the ToyRUs site–they have the LeapFrog software BOGO right now which combined with the 25% off sale is pretty great! And I watch Amazon for deals on the App Cards. I scored a couple the other day for $12. Just be a smart consumer and you’ll LOVE the Leapfrog stuff!!

  • Emily says:

Does anyone think we will see a lower price on Black Friday or Cyber Monday? Just wondering if I should grab it or wait. I know the KMart deal was better but I missed it.

    • adri says:

I was wondering the same thing. I had it in my cart and it was taken

    • Heather says:

I think there will definitely be a better deal. I got my daughters for only $30 a month ago at Kmart before they sold out, and they had them again for $39.99. Remember that this is the Leappad 1, and now they have a Leappad 2 out.. so the price will definitely lower. Right now $59.99 is just the average regular price (in my opinion).. but you do get a free skin with it ($9 on Walmart.com). However, last night I ordered a pink Skin for the Leappad 1 at Sears.com for only $3.03 shipped (with max!).

  • Jennifer says:

I think this is a great deal considering the Kmart deal 39.99 plus the cost of the gel skin roughly 9.99, about a $10 or so dollar difference. Plus no worrying that Amazon will cancel the order. I am cautious with Kmart.

  • Emily says:

For those who have then, how necessary is the gel skin?

    • Emily says:

**sorry, I meant to say: For those who have THEM**

    • Allison says:

The gel skin helps keep your LeapPad from scratches and getting banged around. I see it as a gel skin for your phone, iPod, or iPad. Since the LeapPad retails at $100 I definitely think that $10 more is money well spent to keep it protected!

  • Emily says:

Just a heads up, if you are going to get the purple leappad and the purple skin, the promotion doesn’t come off automatically. It is only coming off automatically for the green leappad and either the green or purple skin. I contacted customer service and they are going to adjust the total for me.

  • Holly says:

Need some advice. I got a rain check for the $39.99 k-mart deal that is good til 12/17 I called kmart today and the associate said she doubts they will have anymore coming in soon. Has anyone else talked to anyone at kmart? Should I wait and try to save the $20?

  • Tracy says:

I got one. Thank you. I love a good deal, but I love Amazon and don’t want to mess with Kmart.

  • Michelle says:

Is there a big difference between the Leap Pad 1 and Leap pad 2?

  • DL says:

I would like to know the differance too in both leappads. I have been on the fence on these. I have a child who is 8yrs old… hate to spend the money if he will outgrow it soon. We already have leapster explorers which I know those games will fit in these. Just dont knoooow! lol

    • Holly says:

My four year old has one and i just got this one (missed the kmart deal) for my 2 year old, i wouldn’t get one for an 8 year old personally, Id maybe get like a kindle fire or something???

  • Lori says:

i ordered this earlier today, then got on here and saw this promotion. After I ordered I also found the 5 off 25. So I called to see if they could add a free gel skin to my order, they couldn’t but they cancelled it so that I could go and reorder it. So I did, and I got the $5 dollars off. So I ended up saving money and got a free gel skin. So excited! Thanks for keeping up with all this stuff.

  • Rachel says:

I ordered one to ship to my local kmart… I received the email that my order was ready yesterday, but when my husband just went to pick it up, they didn’t have it! They said “you were supposed to receive an email that there was a problem, that the price was a mistake!” SERIOUSLY!? They had already drafted my card, and the store said they refunded me online (NOT SO), and I got the confirmation email that the order had not only be processed, but it was ready to pick up!!! So right now I have no leappad and no cash! Needless to say, corporate will be very upset with me tomorrow… this is RIDICULOUS! I’d definitely say for future hopefuls of Kmart deals: DON’T believe the deal unless you go in store, pay, and get out the door!!! The worst part is- I’d taken advantage of the BOGO games yesterday from ToysRus, which will have to be returned if I can’t get this situated! What a hassle!

  • Desiree says:

By the time I decided to order the pink/purple one had gone up to $79.99 and they changed the wording to GREEN leappad but I ordered the green one for $59.99 with the purple gel skin. I read that it will cover up all of the green, except maybe the little button. I also applied the $5 off $25 coupon you posted about so I am very happy with my purchase. $55 for everything shipped to my door :)
