If they give you the shredded paper back, is great for packing gifts (why buy fancy shredded, when you already have shredded that will only be thrown away); packing away special dishes, glasses, or ornaments; wonderful to till into the soil or put around plants (just put something over it so it doesn’t blow all over); and your compost bin or pile will love it!
I take gift wrap that would otherwise be tossed, take the tape & tags off, then sort by color. I shred it that way & bag. That way I have different bags of nicely shredded, different colored papers. Mine is just put aside till after the holidays and I can do it at my leisure.
