I bought the Leapster 2 Walmart deal that was posted last week and right now they have 9 different games on sale for $10 each. http://www.walmart.com/ip/LeapFrog-Leapster-Learning-Game-Your-Pick-for-10/22339526
Anna M says:
I picked up the same games at my local five below store for $5, check there!
jill says:
A lot of those are less than $10 on amazon now, too. (But note to anyone considering buying the Leapster Explorer GS deal in Collin’s post . . . the Leapster Explorer uses Explorer learning games NOT Leapster games.) I think they are phasing out the leapster games as they seem to be dropping in price rapidly everywhere.
Silver says:
We are looking for a leapster 2…..has anyone seen a good price on it? I’ve only seen deals for just the leapster…..thanks!
jill says:
If you don’t have an issue buying used, I would strongly suggest checking craigslist. You can probably get a leapster 2 bundled with all of the accessories and games the person has for the same or less than the cost of buying the leapster new by itself.
Diane says:
Does anybody have this or the leappad2? I am trying to decided between the two. I am leaning more toward the leappad 2. Any thoughts are appreciated
Nicole says:
The leap pad is going to be a better option. The GS is being phased out and games will be hard to get. Also, the leap pad is expandable.

I was wondering which is better for a 4 year old, the Leapfrog Explorer that was on sale earlier this week, or this one.? Any advice???
jill says:
I bought the Explorer when it was a great deal at Kohls . . . now I kind of wish I had done more research then. This is basically the updated version of the Explorer. It has a slightly bigger screen, is thinner and easier for small hands to hold, has more memory, runs a little faster and reacts to motion/changes in direction (I don’t remember what that is called)
Missie B. says:
Thank you Jill! That is super helpful.
jill says:
Oh . . . and the GS has a built in camera. The Explorer has a separate camera accessory that you can buy.

Here is my 2 cents. My 5 year got the LeapPad1 for Christmas last year and loves it!! My 3 year old got the Leapster2 for Christmas last year. I noticed animation and sound was not nearly as good on the Leapster2 as it was on the LeapPad1. So I sold the Leapster2 on ebay last month and bought her a LeapPad2 for Christmas. The animation and sound is way better on the LeapPads then on the Leapster2. (I believe that the Leapster GS has very good animation and sound aswell.) I preferred the LeapPad2 over the Leapster GS because of the screen size and just liked the overall look and feel of the LeapPad2 better. My 3 year old wears glasses and hearing aids the bigger screen and better sound was a major issue.
Doreen says:
What is better the leapster Explorer GS or the Leapster Explorer. So confusing
allison says:
The Explorer GS is the newer version of the Explorer. Here is what Jill just posted about it:
“It has a slightly bigger screen, is thinner and easier for small hands to hold, has more memory, runs a little faster and reacts to motion/changes in direction (I don’t remember what that is called)”
Doreen says:
thanks- i have both coming but I will return the explorer back to amazon.

Here is a link from Leapfrog that breaks down the differences between the two:

I got this a couple of days ago from Amazon. It was 45.00 but I used some credit that I got from a communispace site and ended up paying $25.00 shipped! What I am struggling with is finding a good deal on games… Anyone know that best deal on explorer games right now?
Doreen says:
toysrus has buy 2 get one free. just placed an order. one of my games was for the gift card for apps too.
Kim B. says:
Do you know if they have that deal in-store as well?
Because I Saw It On Pinterest says:
