Does anyone know where you can get an advent calendar WITHOUT chocolate in it? This is driving me nuts!!!
Sara says:
You can buy a wooden one at someplace like Kohls and put whatever you want in it. Then reuse it ever year.

Tara Burton says:
I bought a wooden one with little doors that open. You can put whatever you want in it. I like the idea of notes with special things to do together. (Bake cookies, decorate the tree, go to the park etc) I bought it at Target for $24.99. I will have it for years though.
Jacquie says:
That’s not so bad for a wooden one. The paper ones I can find on amazon are $12 with $6 for shipping, ugh! I just rememer loving the hidden pictures behind the doors when I was little and there is just nothing like that anymore-just stupid chocolate. So sad
Kids today just don’t know what they are missing
Thanks for the help!
Andrea says:
Jacquie, I am so glad you asked this b/c it made me remember I had one tucked away in the closet I bought last year after Christmas on clearance at Target.
Guess my son gets luck & can open 4 tonight since we’re 4 days into the month. Anyhow, here is the link to the one I purchased. It is Imaginext by Fisher Price. It’s geared toward boys though, don’t know of any gender neutral or girl ones available if that is what you needed.

Alison says:
Target had some cute ones when I was there last week. They were on the end of an aisle in the book section. They just had windows to open. No chocolate!
Thia says:
What exactly are you looking for, something for your home or something for kids? Have you tried this site that Collin just posted about?
Jacquie says:
Yes, all they have is chocolate. I just want to get one for my son so he can have the same experience I did. Just a simple paper advent calendar.
mary says:
Hi Jacquie! My family loves just the plain simple ones too!! It can be tricky to find cute “good” ones though. A few ideas on places to check: Christian bookstores, specialty paper shops, Christmas stores. . . my mom got me this vintage looking German one from this little German Christmas shoppe. http://www.christmasfromgermany.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=advent+calendar&Search.x=0&Search.y=0
Hope that helps for ideas! Good luck
Amanda says:
I got my daughter a Playmobil advent calendar on amazon.com. No chocolate, just little toys (it’s a castle theme). They’re not cheap though, I think they usually sell for $30-40 though I got this one on sale.
Heather Nicosia says:
I got a wooden one off of Amazon so that we dont have to do candy every day either. Target has them as well.
Heather Nicosia says:
Oh and I saw some at Kohls yesterday!
leana says:
target has had the wooden ones with just the pull out boxes that you fill yourself
May says:
I have purchased the Playmobil ones in the past (a new toy for every day). My kids loved them.
Alison says:
Jacquie, have you heard of Bronner’s? Here’s a link with choco & non choco advent calendars: http://www.bronners.com/search.do?query=advent+calendar&sortby=bestMatchesDescend&page=all
After quick google search, I found this: http://www.inhisname.com/search.php?searchstr=advent+calendar&stype=product
I don’t know if you have a Paper Source by you, but I found this: http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/item/Animal-Village-Advent-Calendar/3302.020/413329.html?utm_source=Thanx&utm_medium=PS%2BSearch&utm_campaign=product
If nothing else, maybe this will help for next year! Good luck!
deb says:
I got one from the Dayspring website after Christmas last year that is the paper one with doors to open
Jacquie says:
Thank you so much everyone! I knew I could count on the helpful and friendly ladies on this website. You are all the best!
roxy says:
This is one of my favorite stores. I love their gourmet food section: chocolate, spreads, cookies, wafers, marinated mushrooms and so many goodies. They had an amazing coupon a month ago: $10 off $30. I hope they’ll send another one for Christmas.
Thia says:
Reply, I agree I love the stuff in this store. They closed the one by my house. I’m sad.
Lauren B says:
Thanks Collin! My husband is English so he’s really going to enjoy the little British phone-booth tea tin and the Roundtree Fruit Gums
You rock!
Johanna says:
Oh thank you thank you! I was holding my order because of the shipping. Now I got my favorite Christmas drink mix with free shipping! Yay!
Willa says:
How does 10% off of $3.49 come to $2.99????
Donna says:
i use a mini muffin pan and make the circle to cover it =)
Morgan says:
I’ve gotten Advent calendars where you open the paper windows from Hallmark. (Hopefully nobody else said that- scrolled through to see, but might have missed somebody!)
Colleen says:
I’m not getting the free shipping…
Greta says:
Just wanted to let everyone know if they have free coffee rewards from the deal the other day, and order a free shipping item with it, it saves you the $4.95 shipping charge. You can only use one promo code, so you are forfeiting the 10% discount, but worth it to me!
mysweetlovestx says:
Thank you so much for the heads up Collin! I’ve been searching at my World Market looking for the Angel Wings iphone stands and they’re not in stock but didn’t want to pay high shipping. They’re part of the stocking stuffers w/ free ship so I got them! YAY!
Sarah says:
Free shipping isn’t working for me, either. It looks like maybe it’s only when you order from the Holiday Shop.
MCouzens says:
Most of the food items in the holiday shop are not available online. It says free shipping under the items but you can not even purchase them online. : /
Brooke says:
For my daughter’s advent calendar I used brown paper lunch bags, and stamped the numbers on them. I hung them using clothespins. This was a very east and inexpensive project
The Mom @ Babes in Hairland says:
Thanks SO much for this. I scored 2 big logs of Marzipan as well as 3 marzipan pigs for my girls’ stockings. I bought one of those big logs at another store the other day for over $9 but with the discount & free shipping it was huge savings! Wahoo!
