This camera is absolutely fantastic. I purchased 2 @ regular price at Best Buy a few years ago before couponing days started. $149 is a GREAT price for it!!!!

    • RH says:

curious about the waterproof feature too! How does it work for you?

    • heather says:

I read some reviews on amazon about the waterproof feature not working well and it leaking. Apparently they contacted Sony and they wouldn’t fix the issue. How has your underwater experience been? I own a cybershot, an older one, and LOVE it. Just wondering whether to splurge on myself at Christmas time :)

  • Heather says:

I have been wanting a new camera for a while now. If anyone owns this, could you let me know how you like it. I am looking for one that will snap pictures pretty quickly, one after the other. And also, does it zoom pretty close without the pictures getting blurry? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

  • Elizabeth says:

I have also been looking for a good camera for a while now… If anyone owns one I would love to know how durable it is… My husband and I just started taking our daughters skiing and I was wanting a strong, waterproof camera that I can also use for when we go to the beach in the summer (so it also has to be dustproof)… I would love to be able to tell my husband what I want for Christmas :)

  • Sandra F. says:

I have this camera and payed $222 for it which was the best price I could find at the time. That was about 2 months ago. I read reviews like crazy before I buy anthing major and while the waterproof leak comments on amazon bothered me I still got the camera. My co worker has had her for 10 yrs now and it still works great. Im an SLR kinda gal but I absolutely LOVE this camera. It has so many features including photoeffects that you can apply straight away without having to do third editing. I just want to suggest that if you do buy this camera to read the manuel and how to take care of it.

  • Brittany J says:

how is it with zooming features and how is the indoor photo shooting?

    • Sandra F. says:

The zoom is good, I think. I dont have any complaints about it. The indoor shooting is great even in low light. There are many different settings on the camera which is what I love about it. The only time I find picture quality to be pure is when I have the flash off in a low light area.

  • Melanie says:

Great deal – thanks so much. got hubby to buy it for me for xmas since i have wanted a waterproof one for soooooo long. That was nice and easy shopping for him! Ha – come to think of it hip2save has made shopping so easy for my family this year – all from the comfort of our own home. Thank you!

    • Taraneh says:

be careful when using it as a “waterproof” camera. as other hipsters have mentioned, if you look at the reviews people have mentioned problems with the “waterproof” feature and then Sony doesn’t back their product up. I’ve seen this problem written in the amazon comments of a number of different sony cameras that were advertised as being waterproof

  • teri says:

Keep in mind that the new models are released in Feb., just an fyi from a pro. The price will get cheaper, though thus if hot for Christmas.

  • Taraneh says:

personally, i’d be wary with sony cameras. my lens jammed after 3 months of using a different cybershot and it was still under warranty. When I sent it in to be repaired, I was told that I forcefully damaged the camera and therefore i’d have to pay nearly $100 to replace the lens (on a camera that was barely over $100 to begin with)
personally I am not a fan of sony because I spent months fighting them over this because I knew I didn’t break my camera and the best they could offer me as a “consolation” was a $120 refurbished model. Their customer service is definitely lacking.

    • CW says:

I totally agree Taraneh. I’ve owned 3 Sony Cybershots. Even if you are super careful, never drop them, and keep them in a case they dont last long. Every 1.5 to 2 yrs mine broke…lens issue and focus issue. They do not hold up at all. I finally gave up and got a Panasonic Luminex and its already outlived each Sony I bought. I heard Olympus makes a great, reliable waterproof camera. I’ve been on 4 cruises and every single time at least 3 people had an Olympus waterproof and they were taking pictures underwater, from a jet ski, etc.

      • Taraneh says:

Yes! I had 2 cybershots before the one that broke after 3 months and those all lasted no more than 1.5-2 years. I’m definitely going to look into the Panasonic Luminex! I’ve had a Nikon Coolpix for a few years now that I haven’t been impressed with.

    • Sandra F. says:

This camera doesnt have a “lens” per se, it has a lens cover that you manually slide down. So as far as lens issues with this cybershot there shouldnt be any.

      • Taraneh says:

I did notice that, so maybe the case would be different with this product. But the fact that over the years their cameras never lasted me more than 2 years and then once lasted me 3 months shows a lack of quality to me. I’ll just never purchase another Sony product again. Any company that doesn’t stand behind their product & honor their warranties is not one I’m going to deal with. I stopped purchasing sony products after my bad experience & wouldn’t ever recommend them to anyone.
There are so many electronic companies out there and I doubt they all treat their customers as terribly as Sony does.
But if it works for you, why not. it’s a nice deal & cameras can be pretty expensive.

  • teri says:

Just a follow up..Sony makes an excellent camera. Will last for years.

  • Melissa says:

The reviews on Amazon do look good and this one might fix the problem I have with not being able to get good smile photos of my twin babies. There is always a delay between pushing the button to take the shot and the shot actually being taken. This camera claims to have “Smile Shutter Technology”. Also the background defocus feature looks great. Any comments by Hip2savers?

  • Melissa says:

Will ebates or shopathome help with this purchase?

  • Prasna says:

Thank you :) just bought one.

  • Elizabeth says:

Thanks – I have been on the hunt for a new camera since my Nikon S8100 (which I loved!) died. Nothing has come close to the awesome pics of that camera, but the reviews give me hope. Fingers crossed that it is fantastic!

  • John says:

Price is now showing $329.99, is this deal over??

  • John says:

Never mind, I see that its only the black color that is on sale, got one ordered!

  • tdimfb says:

Also, anyone who has Amazon Prime or Student Prime check to see if you got the email with the 10% off $100 purchase coupon code. I got one on December 9th

  • Felicia Ramirez says:

Boy! Wouldn’t it be grand if Target carried this camera? We could score a price match, the $10 gc (for $50 purchase) AND additional 5% off for our RedCard (we have the debit).

Couldn’t find it, so my next stop is Sears who will price match + 10%, I’ll take it – woot!

  • pattyk says:

Target doesn’t carry it, I tried.

  • Kim says:

They’re all back up to $328 now.
