Julep Maven: $40 Worth of Nail Products Only 1¢ (New Members Only)

3:33 PM MST
The links in the post below may be affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

UPDATE: Darn! When I testing this earlier they were not charging shipping, so I am not sure why they are now? But note that you will currently have to pay $4.98 shipping, so a total of $4.99 shipped for the nail polish. Sorry for the confusion. :(

Would you love to have fun nail colors and cutting-edge mani and pedi products delivered right to your doorstep on a monthly basis?! Then you may want to check out Julep Maven! And if you’re new to Julep Maven, you can snag your very first Maven Box for just 1¢… yep, just a penny! :D

Here’s how it works…

* Head over here, click on Style Profiles, browse through the different profiles and choose which profile most matches you (choose from American Beauty, Bombshell, and much more).

* Click on the appropriate “Become a Maven” link and add the Starter Box to your cart for $19.99 and head to checkout. Be sure to enter the promo code PENNY2012 and you’ll snag this intro box for just $0.01 + $4.98 shipping. Please note that this offer is limited to first first time Mavens only.

* Every Starter Box will feature over $40 worth of never-before-released polishes, cutting edge treatments and cult favorites, including at least two seasonal and style-specific nail colors.

* Keep in mind that by signing up for December’s box, you are signing up to receive boxes on a monthly basis from Julep Maven (after this first month’s box is sent for just $0.01, your monthly cost will be $19.99 for $40 worth of products). You will be notified by email on the 20th of the month with a preview of the products they’ve customized for your next month’s beauty editor Box. If you are not interested in receiving that month’s box, just be sure to log in to your account between the 20th and 24th and choose Skip a Month, or cancel by the 24th at 11:59pm PST to avoid being charged on the 27th.

* If, for whatever reason, you do not want to continue to be a Julep Maven, just call the Maven Team at 877-651-3292 (note that they cannot process cancellations by email or online). Remember that you must cancel by the 24th at 11:59pm PST to avoid being charged on the 27th.

I’ve been a Julep Maven since February of this year, and I just want to say that Julep has great customer service, great deals for Mavens Only, and all kinds of awesome promotions every month. If you want to sign up through my referral link, just put in this code when you sign up at 1394547

  • Lindsay Fitchett says:

They are charging $4.98 for shipping…is that correct or is there another discount I missed?

  • jessica graham says:

They are charging almost $5 for shipping, so this is not 1 penny shipped :(

  • Sarah says:

I’m having the same problem, Lindsay. It says to choose “Maven Shipping,” but I don’t see that option.

    • Pam says:

I got in on this penny deal when it was offered earlier..I DID have to pay shipping and the penny for the first kit ($40 value), future kits are $19.95 (& free maven shipping)and shipped monthly unless you skip, or referral link is 7029253

  • Amy says:

How do I get free shipping its charging me $4.98 for shipping

  • Shawn says:

It said that I would be getting three that really worth $40?!

  • Kris says:

I’m getting charged for shipping as well. :/

  • Angela says:

How do you get free shipping? It’s charging me $4.99.

  • Courtny says:

I am not seeing free shipping…
    bummer, I was so excited.

  • Robin says:

I am getting the shipping charge ($4.99) as well. :(

  • Amy says:

I’m confused I says free shipping on their site?

  • Tracy says:

I was also looking forward to this deal. But can’t find the free shipping

  • Ali says:

I’m having the same problem. Not worth $5 for two polishes, and having to cancel the subscription.

  • DRAHZ says:

I called the customer service center & they said the first order is charged S & H. However, any subsequent orders will not be charged!

  • June says:

Hi! Julep is a great service. They are always very helpful and have great sales monthly. Plus, you get to switch styles each month if you like what is in another Box or even skip a month without cancelling. As a maven you should receive free shipping so definitely try to contact them. Please use my referral code: 5248936!! Thanks!!

  • Lourdes says:

I found out that it’s not 1¢?!?! This is so misleading. I don’t mind being a referral but I don’t like the wrongly informed. My 3min wasted :(

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip) says:

I apologize about this. I was under the impression it was free shipping as I tested earlier. I try to make sure the deals I post are clear and detailed, so I do feel bad about this one as it didn’t turn out the way I had stated. Anyway, I just updated the post regarding the shipping.

  • Conswalla says:

I’ll pass on this deal. I have tons of nail polish. Enjoy hipsters!

  • Pam says:

this is not what we usually refer to as a “freebie” offer, rather a good initial deal, I think it might help to look at it as a self-pampering thing..couponers can get nail polish for $2 a bottle or less…but it is good polish and was named One Of Oprah’s Favorite Things:)

  • Jen says:

It says everything is free shipping. I want to sign up but I’m not paying shipping!

  • Ani Sala says:

Could I even cancel by Dec.20 altogether and just get this one cent deal?

  • reannen says:

I just tried this and they are charging 4.98 shipping to my total was 4.99 at checkout, not .01

  • Tracy says:

I signed up for an account and decided i didnt want it, then just signed back in and have free shipping.. odd but I am going to try it.

  • Meghan says:

    I’m semi-addicted to nail polish.
Julep has some really great colors and you can get the three polish box every month if you’d like. The quality is pretty high, but I wouldn’t say it’s worth the cover price($14/bottle). However, I do like receiving a neat gift in the mail. The boxes are really nice and you usually get some sort of cute freebie–last month was a ring that you got to choose the color from your collection and create.
My favorite part is that it’s really easy to skip a month. If I didn’t REALLY like the colors, I skipped. They send an email once a month to let you know about the upcoming shipment and the box can be skipped online.
Anyhoo, sorry for rambling, but if you’d like, my referral link is
(And I would say the penny box is definitely worth it!)

  • Collin (Mrs. Hip) says:

Sorry, all! :( When I tested earlier it gave me free shipping. Anyway I just updated the post as I guess you do have to pay shipping after all. Again, sorry for the confusion on this one.

  • Mar says:

Ok I did it the first time and instead of paying 1 cent plus shipping I added one of the on sale nail polish that poped up at checkout and that way it gave me free shipping. Then I tried to do that for my sister in law that is in the military and and added an extra item from the pop up but the shipping was still enforced. So I got free shipping but she didn’t. Doesnt make sense. Oh well. WOn’t be doing this deal I guess :(

  • Stephanie says:

I got free shipping by adding a $3.99 crystal file to my card. So I got the nailpolish box and the crystal file shipped to my house for $4.00

  • Tracy says:

Here is my code if anyone is ordering…

  • Kathryn Jordan says:

Add a 5 dollar item and shipping is free with the kit for 1c!

  • Katie says:

I’ve been a Julep Maven for a few months now – got some great stocking stuffers over the past few weeks. And honestly, this 1 cent deal, even with $4.98 shipping, is a better deal than I got for my introductory offer – a lot more items. Maybe it’s not the freebie everyone wanted, but it’s a pretty great deal nonetheless. The polish is great – the colors are really vibrant and last and the brush makes it streak free. I know there will be happy hipsters in my house come Christmas morning. Thanks, Collin!

  • jenn says:

You can add the lip balm for 2.00 and pay 2.01 shipped for the box and lipbalm.

  • LaToya says:

    I joined…and cancelled after 3 months.
The quality of Julep polishes is not worth the pricetag. You are better off buying some Essie or something else. Totally not worth it. My first shipment for 1-cent was worth it. After that – meh.

  • Me says:

the 24th of this month or next?

  • Julie says:

Thanks Colin for all the deals you post! It’s a shame people complain about their time being wasted from 1 deal that turned out to be unclear with the shipping. It’s working 1 minute and not the next, hmmm that’s happened lots of times when shopping on the Internet. Your hard work is appreciated! Merry Christmas!

  • Candice says:

Adding the lip balm for $2, takes the shipping away. It makes the nail polish and the lip balm $2.01 shipped!!

  • Mar says:

add a cheap item should work :); then you get free shipping and your 1 cent item :)

  • fawn says:

great deal on nail polish but the nail polish doesn’t stay on. when I put it on it is chipped within an hour or 2. granted I use my hands a lot and put them in water a lot but just wanted to give a heads up

  • Jen says:

This polish is awful….it comes off immediately. You would think because regularly it is so expensive that it would be good polish, but it comes off so quickly it is not worth even a penny because by the time you put it on it is only furstrating to have it come off so fast….I gave it to my 8 year old daughter she like it

  • Dealzgurl says:

I love the colors but I agree that the paint chips much too easily. I’m not sure if a good base/top coat would make a difference or not but I ended up with sooo many bottles that I don’t even know what to do with them.

  • Angela Roark says:

I just tried this and it took some time to decide what colors I wanted but was successful in getting the 1¢ offer plus free shipping!!!! Yay!

  • Lisa W says:

I am a former Maven, I originally signed up when they offered a $5 intro box. Honestly I was not impressed, after 2 boxes I canceled. Most nail polish chips for me within a day, OPI will last maybe 4 or 5 days. But, ever since I tried Zoya from one of the deals last year I have been hooked, the polish lasts 7-10 days for me without a single chip!

With the Maven box, you basically get 2 nail polishes and one filler item like hand scrub or lip balm for a total of $20. If you are going to spend money on nail polish, I would suggest taking advantage of one of Zoya’s many promos. I usually end up getting their polishes for $4 per bottle during a good sale!

    • Debbie C says:

I’ve not tried the Julep, so I can’t speak to that, but I had to comment on the Zoya. I LOVE their polishes!! Ulta sometimes has good sales on it. They had a buy two get one free sale a while back, plus they gave me a $5 discount at the register, so I got three awesome colors for about $12 with tax. Even without the discount, though, an $8 bottle of Zoya is worth it. They do last for a good while.

  • Emily says:

Not a fan of Julep. Their nail polish is watery and chips very easily. Also one month they removed the ‘skip this month’ button a few days early and it took me over a month to get my refund!

Also they force you to call and cancel the monthly membership. Be careful!

    • Sara says:

Agreed. BEWARE! I canceled my membership last month, but apparently there was a glitch in their system so the account wasn’t canceled and they shipped out a new box. I called about it a couple days ago; they called me back today and refused to refund my money (unless I wanted to ship back the box for in-store credit). When I explained the situation multiple times, they wouldn’t budge. I sure hope the cancellation actually “worked” this time, and I made sure to take names since they said that they couldn’t do anything about it because I didn’t know who I spoke with. Please beware. I’d hate you all to get sucked into paying $20 a month for what seemed like a good deal at the time. I looked on the BBB and their rating is an F. Not a happy customer.

  • Anjy says:

If you enter the code freebox the box it’s free & shipping is only $3.99.
