FREE $5 Starbucks Card eGift for AT&T Wireless Customers (1st 20,000 Only!) Expired
This Hip2Save.com Deal was hand-posted on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 at 11:19 am.
If you are an AT&T wireless customer, head on over here to sign up for AT&T Alerts. It’s free to sign up, plus the first 20,000 people to sign up and confirm their registration and geolocation will receive a FREE $5 Starbucks Card eGift. Keep in mind that it did take quite awhile (at least a few hours) for me to receive each of the text messages back once I signed up.
Important Note: AT&T Alerts is not compatible with iPhone 5 or pre-paid phones.

Also, note that I first received a text message back asking me to text the word COFFEE to share my AT&T location. Then, after a couple of hours, I received another text back with an exclusive code and a link to click on to enter the code to score my FREE $5 Starbucks card! It appears that you can either opt to show the card on your mobile device at your local Starbucks, or enter the card and pin number at checkout if you want to order online.
Fine Print: Limit 1 Offer per participant. Open to current AT&T Wireless customers only. Offer expires 3/31/2013. Your personal information will not be used outside of the AT&T Alerts program. By Pressing submit you are authorizing AT&T to collect this information in order to send you the AT&T Alerts Message. You must be 18 or over. AT&T Alerts is a FREE service.
* You can always reply STOP to cancel these text alerts.
(Thanks, I Crave Freebies, Free Stuff Times, and Clip and Follow!)

Shannon Schellenberg says:
Oh bummer. It’s for wireless customers only.
We have ATT Uverse, but it didn’t work out. Oh well…
Andrea says:
Love AT&T and love Starbucks! Thanks!
shannon says:
dont think I want to give out any more personal information just to get a $5 Starbuck’s card.
Sarah M says:
Exactly!
Shirley says:
Why do they need to know our exact location? How are they using that information? Is’;t that an invasion of privacy and personal space? All for $5
Sam says:
They can already track you if you are a customer. They can pin your location if he police get a warrant. Happens all the time in missing person cases. Plus you can unsubscribe.
Alea says:
Sam is correct – any time you use your cell phone for texting/calling/etc – they are able to track your location.
Leigh says:
Says I’m already signed up. Bummer.
Jes says:
How long did it take to get it? I signed up but haven’t recieved anything.
Collin (Mrs. Hip) says:
It took almost 5 hours total for me to receive both of the text backs.
Jes says:
Thanks. I recieved the first text about an hour after this post. I then got the text again 20 minutes later asking me to text Coffee again. An hour later the code for the $5 came in.
Tricia says:
As an egift only for if you have a starbucks card already??
jen says:
You dont have to have a starbucks gift card already, but if you do you can add the new ecard to your existing card. otherwise you can print the egift card and use it at your local starbucks
Tricia says:
Oh ok thanks
Sofia says:
you should note that it’s for at&t WIRELESS customers. I’m an at&t customer but only for their internet service and don’t qualify for this.
tls says:
she mentions text messages and iPhones throughtout the post. Be serious.
Cha says:
Collin (Mrs. Hip) says:
Thanks… I’ll update with this.
Kierra says:
Not compatible with iPhone 5!?
Kelley says:
Right, no iPhone 5???
Hilary says:
Seriously? What is that about? Tried my husband’s lowly 3GS.
Shanna says:
I have an iphone 5 and it worked for me.
Elizabeth says:
Yes, it worked for me too, but AT&T says that this service does not work for us. It’s not us iPhone 5 users who are saying it!
Elizabeth says:
Signed up anyway. C’mon AT&T, are you serious?!?
Suszy says:
Thanks, hoping I wasn’t too late
Jeff Walker says:
Darn!!! I’m a internet only person and am not impressed with the service I am getting!
Mo says:
Can anyone give me more specific info on the time frame for this deal? I filled out the online application just minutes after Collin posted, but didn’t get the text w/info to reply w/”COFFEE” until 12:20pm (MST). Then I replied at 12:29pm b/c I didn’t see it right away (doing chores!) and then it texted me the same thing AGAIN at 12:39. Again, I didn’t see it right away, so I texted back “COFFEE” again at 12:56pm, but now nothing. I think I must have missed out
Jennifer says:
It took me almost the entire day yesterday to do this. It started yesterday morning (around 9ish) and I didn’t get my GC until after 7pm that evening. Give it some time and hopefully it will come through for you
Jes says:
It took about 2 1/2 hours from registering to getting the egift card.
E says:
same thing happen to me. I texted back coffee and then got another txt telling me to reply with coffee. hopefully the next msg will be the giftcard.
Tomoko says:
Hi,Mo. I did this yesterday and after I reply With “COFFEE” it took more than 4 hours to receive my code. Hope you will get one too. Good luck
Mo says:
thanks ladies – we’ll hope! <3 to use these kinds of things not for myself (I'm fine with home brewed coffee) but for teacher appreciation gifts or to thank other people with when they've helped out with different things. Fingers crossed!
Kristie says:
I had the same thing happen. When I replied to the 2nd text it sent the code right away.
Mo says:
Still nothing!
Other people are saying they got theirs in 2 hours. Super bummed (and confused!).
Edie says:
Not compatible with prepaid users, bah humbug! Had a feeling this was the case when I tried it last night. Oh well.
Donna R says:
I sent my text late last night and this morning I finally received my code for the gift card. It took awhile but I did get it.
Sophie says:
i’m not sure why this wouldn’t work with iphone5, so i tried it anyway & got my code. thanks!
Julian Faux says:
I have an iphone 5 and it worked fine.
Liana says:
I did this yesterday with me and my two brothers, so $15 for our next Starbucks run is free.
Karin says:
I signed up for me & my hubby for this offer, but forgot to tell him about it, so he already replied back ‘STOP’ for the text alert.(he thought it’s a scam) Well I’ll do it again.lol
Magda says:
My husband did same!!! Dang it!
Carm says:
Still working! I thought I missed out, it took about 2 hours to get my code.
mamasweetpea says:
is this alert service any good? i don’t have a text plan with att but if I’m reading correctly, it will not charge for the text, correct since it is through att wireless?
Emily says:
I have an iphone 5 and I got the $5 gift card
Cw says:
I just got my code, it took about 1.5 hrs from start to finish.
E says:
It has been 5 hours and still no code back after texting coffee. hmmmm
Elizabeth says:
I’ve got the code, finally, but each time I try to enter it, it says “That challenge attempt failed. Please try again.” Any ideas on what I’m doing wrong? Has anyone else had this issue?
K says:
If you are copying and pasting make sure it doesn’t cut off letters or add a space. It did that to me
Sarah says:
Worked fine for me! Yay!! I love free Starbucks!
E says:
my friend got it either a 2 hours. so I doubt I’ll be getting mine after 8 hours.
Marlena says:
I signed up 10 h ago abd still haven’t received any messages
Jaime says:
Thanks Collin! Awesome got one on my phone and my dh got one too!
kellyT says:
At 1:40am CST, this offer was still valid. First text took about 5 minutes, after replying COFFEE, I received my reply within 10 minutes with my GC code. Don’t forget the starbucks $1 off coupon is still valid through the end of today….make that GC go further! I sent a text from each of the 4 phones on our plan, and got a GC for each one.
kellyT says:
Website for the $1 coupon, good on any signature Espresso beverage like Caramel Machiatto, Cinammon Dolce and Cafe Mocha http://ebm.e.starbucks.com/c/tag/hBQ8PhgAJvkyvB8wTRIBZPO3Bim/doc.html
Shannon says:
Got mine in < 20 minutes ☕ thanks!!!
Angela H. says:
I was robbed! I signed up, confirmed via text message, then their last message to me was “ATTAlerts: Thanks for sharing your location! Go to: to redeem your Starbucks gift card. T&Cs at http://nrby.me/6g3C“. There was no code or link or anything in that space after “Go to:”
. I emailed AT&T about it but I’m not hopeful that I’ll hear anything. Phooey.
Cha says:
I got the same thing! It’s so vague.
Lauren says:
That’s the exact same message I keep getting. No code. Bummer.
Phillip says:
Me too. I’m guessing they reached the 20,000 limit. Would have been nice if the message said that !
Wendy says:
Same here
Betsy says:
Anyone know who to call if the text you got said go to blank for your gift card?
Hyatt says:
I got a reply with no code, too :’(
colleen says:
Has anyone used the code yet?? Just wanted to make sure it works for in store purchases.
Alea says:
Never got it – signed up as soon as I saw this yesterday, got the first text about an hour later, texted back with “COFFEE” and nothing…kinda stinks that some of us it wouldn’t work for and others were able to sign up for 2, 3, and even 4 people in their household. Wish the limit was one per household so it was more fair. Oh well….
Sam says:
If there are 4 different phones in a household, why shouldn’t they that’s 4 different people that are receiving alerts and paying an AT&T bill?
Sam says:
Bull I got a message. Replied back never received anything before half these people posted. I’m calling and complaining.
Heather G. says:
I just received this message from them:
ATTALERTS: We apologize that you did not receive your AT&T Alerts reward from Starbucks. We will send it as soon as we resolve the issue preventing delivery.
