(Thanks, Clip and Follow!)
This is an awesome deal! I’m downloading it right now!! ๐
Anyone worried about getting a computer virus/etc if they do this? Just wondering if it’s safe to do…..
I wouldn’t worry about getting a virus, because as Sarah stated, CNET is a reputable website. Also, I double-checked with my husband (who works with computers and software for a living), and he said that this should be fine to download ๐
Cnet is a reputable site that I’ve used for years, so I’m not worried about a virus
I’m wondering if the features that come with this product are similar to the photo editing tools on websites like photobucket… If there aren’t any really fantastic photo editing tools, I think I’ll save the memory on my computer and just stick to using the free online photo sites.
Anybody familiar with this product?
I just downloaded it and started playing with it briefly. I don’t know what photobucket has, but this has things like the toothbrush (it whitens teeth in your pictures), the eye enhancer (which can both brighten the whites/light areas and darken the pupils/color/eyelashes), a wrinkle eliminator, and a skin smoother. There are editing tools for pictures that don’t involve people, too.
Heather, I’m a IT professional and work with lot of Photo Editing software, my hobby is photography and I use a lot of Lightroom and Photoshop.. this is a very good deal if u r looking for photoeditor softwares.. .This has most of the features what u will have in Lightroom and CNET is the best site to download softwares.. for free..
This is the first reply I’ve made to a comment using my phone, so hopefully this goes to the right place… Lol! Thank you guys for your input about this product! I’ve downloaded it to my PC, and I’ll play around with it tonight after the kiddos go to bed. I suppose the most I’d ever have to do, if I don’t care for the program, is uninstall it. ๐
Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
Thanks Collin!
Wow! This program is amazing. I normally use photoshop and it is so difficult and non-user friendly if you don’t know how to use it. This program allowed me to do things I could only dream of doing on photoshop. You saved me more than $150 Collin because I was seriously considering taking a college course on photoshop just to learn how to use it. Thank You!!
Do you need to just order the product before noon today or do you also need to download it by then. I’m at work and would love to be able to download it on my pc at home tonight. Thanks!
Through tomorrow at 11:59PM EST
The end date is noon tomorrow.
the order or the actual download has to be before tomorrow? can i order it now and download it a week from now for example?
Thank you! I downloaded and opened it. Now I have to figure out how to use everything!
anyone else having a problem… I downloaded it and it says enter your confirmation code but I can’t seem to find it within the email…. ๐
My redemption code was on the order page in my web browser. I clicked on the order, and it was on the right side of the screen.
Thank you!
The code is on the cnet order confirmation page.
I never did receive the email conf. but luckily I had copied the serial # from the order page.
So in order to download I had to create an account with CNET and the order is going through a company called TrialPay. This company (TrialPay)has some really negative reviews but I don’t know if that will affect this order from CNET. It seems like a good deal but are they being a bit misleading with the price since Amazon has a newer version for $71.00?
actually u don’t have to enter your card information in it..
Yea as long as you don’t have to enter credit card information, you should be fine with TrialPay. Also, you should make sure you have a second email address–just for this purpose (giving it to companies when you sign up for things—so your spam emails from them go through it and not your main email address!).
are you sure you clicked the right link at cnet? I didnt have to enter any info nor did I have to go through trial pay… I just clicked the link at cnet and the down load began…
Can I download it on a Mac…? afterall, it is a personal computer too….anybody tried..? and any idea abt their customer care no..?
The title says it’s for PC users only, so it probably won’t work on a mac. But then again it doesn’t hurt to try if you’re looking for a good photo editing software!
@ Geena – I think it’s a PC program, wouldn’t work with a Mac.
I’m having trouble downloading it, anyone else?
The company is giving a free 30 day trial through TrialPay. TrailPay hopes you want to buy it after your first 30 days. If you buy it, it is usually twice the price so Trial Pay gets thier money and PhotoDirector gets their money. It is a good marketing scheme if the user doesn’t have the sense to figure out they could have bought it cheaper somewhere else.
Disappointing that it’s only a 30 day trial. Colin didn’t mention that??
I realized after downloading that this is only a 30 day trial period. I would not have done that for just 30 days.
Where do you see that it’s only a 30 day trial? I don’t see that anywhere.
Is this the full version or only a 30 day trial?
Before I try it … Did you guys put in the activation code ??
Yes, you do have to put in the activation code
Great question, I just tried to call my husband to hear his thoughts, but if it is only a trial it isn’t worth it. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks for the info.
the company you are getting this from is “trialpay”
I went ahead and downloaded it but I don’t see anything about a trial. I know with photoshop it would tell me “You have ___ days left in this trial” and this doesn’t say anything like that, so hopefully its the full version…
where do you see that it’s a 30 day trial?
From trialpay FAQ https://www.trialpay.com/support/faqs/about-trialpay/
“Is the “free” software I get really just a trial version?
No! If you selected a software product, you get a full, free license. The name “TrialPay” comes from the idea of buying one thing by trying something else. You pay for your free item by trying one offer from some of the most respected companies on the Web.”
I’m not really sure what the part refering to paying for another item means (since you don’t have to pay for anything to get this), but it does say it’s not a trial
I am not seeing any mention of a 30 day trial either. For those of you who are stating that this is only a 30 day trial offer, please share where you are finding that information. Thanks!
There seems to be some confusion here as the hierarchy of CNet and Trialpay. CNet is the one sponsoring the program and offering it to you for free while TrialPay is only the program/website (whatever you want to call it) they are using for you to “pay” for the program. If there had been a cost, you would have needed to pay CNet through TrialPay for the program. I’ve been using CNet for some time now, and this is my first experience with them offering programs through TrialPay for pay or free. CNet has never given me any problems in the past though they have recently added more spam/etc to their website/downloads.
Here is a review of the regular edition of version 3 (https://www.pcworld.com/article/253106/cyberlink_photodirector_3_review_all_in_one_photo_editing_and_organizing.html). The review is from May 2012. Version 4 was released later in 2012 (PCMag’s review of it is from October 2012). So if anyone is really questioning why this is free, there are 3 main reasons:
1. It’s an outdated version you cannot buy anywhere anymore
2. It’s a “special edition”
3. It’s a great marketing ploy to get you to switch to their line of photo editing software from Adobe products/Gimp/etc.
Thank you. Your explanation was very well-written and informative. It’s nice to know the “ins and outs” before signing up for anything and especially downloading software.
I see nothing about having to pay or delete after 30 days, either. Are readers visiting SD and seeing the hype over there? Don’t do what they do and send the info to a bogus email account. Geesh, if you have problems, you later have no recourse. (Sometimes I wonder about people, esp considering that you can get an email account in 10 seconds for free…don’t we all have a junk account or 5?)
Thank you, Collin! I just downloaded this for my aunt who was just asked to photograph a friends’ small wedding. This will surely come in handy!
Downloaded it and am already in love with it! I do photography on the side and have struggled with my other editing software and photoshop is way too complicated. Thanks a million for sharing this freebie!!!!
Thank you SOO much!!
“CyberLink PhotoDirector cannot launch on a computer with a screen resolution lower than 1024X768 or if it is connected to a portrait monitor”. Anyone else getting this? I downloaded and installed but it won’t even open for me to activate. ๐ I wonder if I could still activate after noon tomorrow? If it only has to be downloaded and installed by then? Or it is just not gonna work no matter what?
I read in the comments of the CNET article which Collin has linked in this post that once U get the activation code in your mail you may install it at a later date…HTH…
Thanks Collin! My husband has been bugging me to buy an updated PhotoShop and I’m so glad I hadn’t done it yet! Even if he doesn’t love this program as much (he hasn’t tried it yet), you can’t beat free!
And I did not check the box at the bottom to receive “special offers”, and my order still went through fine.
I found a user guide for this software for those that may need some help using it.
https://download.cyberlink.com/ftpdload/user_guide/photodirector/3/ENU/PhotoDirector_UG.pdf
Also if you go to this sight it looks like their are a couple updates for this version as well. https://www.cyberlink.com/downloads/support/photodirector-ultra/patches_en_GB.html
Never mind downloading the updates. I just tried to install them and it isn’t for this version of the software.
i downloADED it and it tells me key code is invalid, anyone having same prob
Downloaded it…now just have to figure out how to use it since I am currently using an old version of photoshop. It also says offer expires 11:59PM PT, not ET – have until 3AM ET to get it
OK I’m a bit dumb when it comes to this…..can you put it on a laptop or is a PC only a desktop?
Yes you can put it on a laptop, as long as the laptop is a “full” function laptop, with a hard drive and able to save/run executable files. I say this because I’m writing this on my chrome (google) laptop, which is not able to save and run programs, so it wouldn’t work on that type, but otherwise, yes, you’re good to go! HTH….
Oh OK thanks! Yes mine has a hard drive! Woohoo! ๐
