It’s been ages since we’ve needed to get a hotel room and now I will need to be getting a room for 2 different trips. I am waiting to read some comments. Does Orbitz normally have good rates even without the discount?
My experience is that they are very competitive with hotels.com, etc. There is a site called kayak.com that will check the prices of hotels.com, orbitz and a few others so you can compare all their prices in place. That way, you’ll know if you’re getting the best deal. Good luck!
Thank you!
I just checked a hotel I’ve been watching in Expedia on Orbitz to see if it’d be cheaper with the discount. It was $179 on Orbitz and $116 on Expedia, maybe the percentage off is already added in to all of the hotels. Worth a look at Expedia 🙂
I’ve noticed that rates go down a little at night, so you might want to check the rates after 7 or 8 pm (EST) for possibly a little extra savings.
I find the best rates are on the hotel websites themselves. Also, you can often get a better rate by picking up the phone and calling the hotel directly. I travel so much for business and 99% of the times that I have checked, hotels.com, orbitz, kayak… all of those places run much higher than the hotel websites. For example, I booked a room directly from a hotel website for San Diego last week… out of curiosity, I checked hotels.com and orbitz and found that the SAME room was $50 more on both websites, even WITH the 15% discount code!
I’ve also heard that booking through Orbitz puts you at the bottom of the priority list for hotels in terms of upgrades, room choice, etc.
This might come in handy for an out of town craft show that I’m vending at in a few weeks! Thanks!
I just saved $174 using this promo code from my husband’s original booking directly with the hotel. Thank you so much!!!! We are going to our favorite spot for Spring Break, and it’s a bit pricey, so every bit helps!
I noticed not all hotels were honoring the 15% discount, so when you’re entering your dates, location, # of people and rooms, there is a space to enter the discount code. If you get that entered right away, you’ll see the hotels that are participating.
